Biti Exposes Zanu PF Looting

Tinashe Sambiri|Hard-hitting MDC Alliance vice president Hon Tendai Biti has said Mr Emmerson Mnangagwa is among the worst dictators in the world.

Mr Mnangagwa has blessed corruption and rampant looting of State resources by his cronies, according to Hon Biti.

Hon Biti also exposed rampant looting of national resources by the Zanu PF regime.

See his argument below:

The 2019 Auditor General’s Statement confirms what we have always known .

Mnangwagwa administration is a rogue regime plundering national resources…

The theft and unauthorized expenditure of US$7 billion is criminal and requires forensic examination.

Unacceptable that with such poverty…

billions are being siphoned from the State by a deranged kleptomania.$2.7
billion was stolen in 2017 , $3,5 billion in 2018 now $7 b in 2019 bringing total to $13.2 billion.Used wisely $13.2 b can transform Zim into an upper middle tier economy in a short period of time …

The levels of looting under Emmerson are unprecedented and unacceptable in a country where 95% are unemployed and 79% live in extremely poverty.

Zim joins rank of worst kakistocracies such as Zaire under Mobutu,Nigeria under Abasha ,Philippines under Marcos &CAR under Bokassa

Factors That Lead To Suicide

Suicide remains one of the leading causes of death worldwide, according to WHO’s latest estimates, published today in “Suicide worldwide in 2019”. Every year, more people die as a result of suicide than HIV, malaria or breast cancer ̶ or war and homicide. In 2019, more than 700 000 people died by suicide: one in every 100 deaths, prompting WHO to produce new guidance to help countries improve suicide prevention and care.

“We cannot – and must not – ignore suicide,” said Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-General of the World Health Organization. “Each one is a tragedy. Our attention to suicide prevention is even more important now, after many months living with the COVID-19 pandemic, with many of the risk factors for suicide ̶ job loss, financial stress and social isolation – still very much present. The new guidance that WHO is releasing today provides a clear path for stepping up suicide prevention efforts.”

Among young people aged 15-29, suicide was the fourth leading cause of death after road injury, tuberculosis and interpersonal violence.

Rates vary, between countries, regions, and between males and females.

More than twice as many males die due to suicide as females (12.6 per 100 000 males compared with 5.4 per 100 000 females). Suicide rates among men are generally higher in high-income countries (16.5 per 100 000). For females, the highest suicide rates are found in lower-middle-income countries (7.1 per 100 000).

Suicide rates in the WHO African (11.2 per 100 000), European (10.5 per 100 000) and South-East Asia (10.2 per 100 000) regions were higher than the global average (9.0 per 100 000) in 2019. The lowest suicide rate was in the Eastern Mediterranean region (6.4 per 100 000).

Globally, the suicide rate is decreasing; in the Americas it is going up

Suicide rates fell in the 20 years between 2000 and 2019, with the global rate decreasing by 36%, with decreases ranging from 17% in the Eastern Mediterranean Region to 47% in the European Region and 49% in the Western Pacific.

But in the Americas Region, rates increased by 17% in the same time period.

Although some countries have placed suicide prevention high on their agendas, too many countries remain uncommitted. Currently only 38 countries are known to have a national suicide prevention strategy. A significant acceleration in the reduction of suicides is needed to meet the SDG target of a one-third reduction in the global suicide rate by 2030.

LIVE LIFE

To support countries in their efforts, WHO is today releasing comprehensive guidance for implementing its LIVE LIFE approach to suicide prevention. The four strategies of this approach are:

limiting access to the means of suicide, such as highly hazardous pesticides and firearms;
educating the media on responsible reporting of suicide;
fostering socio-emotional life skills in adolescents; and
early identification, assessment, management and follow-up of anyone affected by suicidal thoughts and behaviour.
Banning of the most dangerous pesticides: a high-impact intervention

Given that pesticide poisoning is estimated to cause 20% of all suicides, and national bans of acutely toxic, highly hazardous pesticides have shown to be cost-effective, such bans are recommended by WHO. Other measures include restricting access to firearms, reducing the size of medication packages, and installing barriers at jump sites.

Responsible reporting by the media

The guide highlights the role the media plays in relation to suicide. Media reports of suicide can lead to a rise in suicide due to imitation (or copycat suicides) – especially if the report is about a celebrity or describes the method of suicide.

The new guide advises monitoring of the reporting of suicide and suggests that media counteract reports of suicide with stories of successful recovery from mental health challenges or suicidal thoughts. It also recommends working with social media companies to increase their awareness and improve their protocols for identifying and removing harmful content.

Support for adolescents

Adolescence (10-19 years of age) is a critical period for acquiring socio-emotional skills, particularly since half of mental health conditions appear before 14 years of age. The LIVE LIFE guidance encourages actions including mental health promotion and anti-bullying programmes, links to support services and clear protocols for people working in schools and universities when suicide risk is identified.

Early identification and follow-up of people at risk

Early identification, assessment, management and follow-up applies to people who have attempted suicide or are perceived to be at risk. A previous suicide attempt is one of the most important risk factors for a future suicide.

Health-care workers should be trained in early identification, assessment, management and follow-up. Survivors’ groups of people bereaved by suicide can complement support provided by health services. Crisis services should also be available to provide immediate support to individuals in acute distress.

The new guidance, which includes examples of suicide prevention interventions that have been implemented across the world, in countries such as Australia, Ghana, Guyana, India, Iraq, the Republic of Korea, Sweden and the USA, can be used by anyone who is in interested in implementing suicide prevention activities, whether at national or local level, and in the governmental and nongovernmental sectors alike.

“While a comprehensive national suicide prevention strategy should be the ultimate goal for all governments,” said Dr Alexandra Fleischmann, suicide prevention expert at the World Health Organization, “starting suicide prevention with LIVE LIFE interventions can save lives and prevent the heartbreak that follows for those left behind.”

Congestion At Beitbridge Border Post As SA Authorities Close Passage Owing To Water Woes

By A Correspondent- Commercial cargo is gradually piling up at Beitbridge Border Post after South Africa temporarily closed its side of the border due to a major fault on their water supply line.

The development has seen the border running without water in the last 24 hours and only skeleton staff is manning the border’s key points.

Long-distance trucks heading to either Zimbabwe or South Africa are piling up in truck stops and major highways on both sides of the border.

According to a notice sent to inter-border management committee members by South Africa Revenues Services (SARS) senior manager at Beitbridge Ms Florah Maluleke, efforts were underway to restore normal water supply services.

“Please note that we have no running water since yesterday, and PMC has resolved to close the Port due to the prevailing health hazards associated with this,” she said.

“The Port will close at 18h00, to allow the new pump to fill up the reservoir and reopen 06h00 tomorrow morning. The RAMP Contractor is continuing work on resolving the problem”.

This is the second time the border between Zimbabwe and South Africa has been temporarily closed in the last 12 months.

Last year the border was closed for 24 hours at the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic when several SARS officials tested positive to the virus.

Health officials in the neighboring country had to close the port to carry out massive disinfections.

Currently, an average of 1200 commercial trucks cross the border daily.

BREAKING: Schools Opening Delayed By 14 Days

By Jane Mlambo| Government has delayed the re-opening of schools by 14 days.

Addressing the post cabinet briefing today, Information minister Monica Mutsvangwa said the recent spike in cases which has seen pockets of localized lockdowns in Kwekwe, Karoi, Mt Darwin and other areas prompted the move to delay the re-opening of schools.

Schools were expected to open for the second term on Monday 28 days but the recent spike in COVID-19 forced government to re-assess the situation.

Teachers unions have also been lobbying for a postponement to August to allow the situation to stabilize.

Government Exposes Teachers To COVID-19

Tinashe Sambiri|The Progressive Teachers Union of Zimbabwe( PTUZ) says it will not fold hands and watch as the Zanu PF regime exposes teachers to the deadly COVID-19 pandemic.

This comes after the death of three teachers at Karoi schools. The three succumbed to COVID-19 on Thursday last week.

According to NewsDay, one of the deceased teachers, Goodluck Tobaiwa Chambe, of Chikangwe High School was a principal marking supervisor under the Combined Science section.

Progressive Teachers Union of Zimbabwe (PTUZ) secretary-general Raymond Majongwe, qouted by the same publication, said it was sad that Chambe died without getting his dues for marking last year’s ZIMSEC examinations.

“We are not happy that the late Karoi teacher (Chambe) was yet to get paid by Zimsec. He never got his dues and this is how bad it is as people who offered services, but national institutions renege on making payments.

The impact of COVID-19 is obviously felt as he could have used the funds to buy protective equipment and to get medical attention. This is a tragedy.”

Majongwe added that PTUZ views the “premature” reopening of schools as criminal as the move has resulted in the loss of lives.

Barcelona Boss Targets Cristiano Ronaldo?

Barcelona president Joan Laporta is reportedly planning to table an offer to Juventus for Cristiano Ronaldo, to bring together the Portuguese captain and his long-time rival Lionel Messi.

Messi and Ronaldo have dominated world football for over 15 years, with their rivalry sparking debate even after the latter swapped the white shirt of Real Madrid, for the black and white of Juve, in 2018.

Laporta, according to Spanish publication AS, is planning to make the dream of football fans, of seeing the two superstars play together in the same team, a reality.

He (Laporta) is according to that report, planning to offer Juventus three players for the deal to happen.- Soccer24 Zimbabwe

Is Sergio Aguero The Gamechanger At Barcelona?

FC Barcelona has had a less-than-perfect season, no doubt. With six games left in the just concluded La Liga, Barca still had as good a chance as any to win the title — until they didn’t. Two painful losses to Granada and Celta Vigo and two draws against Levante and Atletico were enough to shatter any dreams of a return to dominance in Spain’s topmost league.

The Catalan Giants’ run in the Champions League this season has also fallen short of the high standards we have come to expect. Despite dominating and winning the Copa Del Rey, anyone watching last season’s Barca team will easily admit that things had to change.

Barca is known and respected for dominance. The kind of dominance that the Betway soccer betting peeps love — records-shattering dominance.

Thankfully, the management team at Barca is stepping up to the challenge of building a reinvigorated Barca squad. The addition of Sergio Aguero to Barcelona on a two-year contract spells progress of the overall team success of Barcelona. Especially, when he is healthy, Aguero can offer enough quality to help Barcelona stand out again.

Goal-scoring Wizard

Barcelona needs a more clinical goal-scoring machine — Braithwaite is just not that guy. Barcelona recorded their lowest goal tally in at least five years last season with just 85 goals scored. This is in stark contrast to what we are used to when the famous blue and red kit players play. Barca is more in the exclusive 95+ goals club where La Liga is concerned — and that’s where they need to return to.

Sergio Aguero is already considered by many to be the foreign player to ever play in the Premier League — he’s arguably in the top five forwards of all-time in the PL. With 260 goals in 390 appearances for Manchester City, Aguero needs no introduction as a master wizard in the magic of goal-scoring.

With his presence in the FCB squad, there’s bound to be notable improvements in goals, actual wins and ultimately happier days for Betway bettors who choose Barca.

The “Messi” angle

This is perhaps no new information to football fans, but it’s still worth mentioning — Messi and Aguero both play on Argentina’s national team and are friends enough to think of themselves as an old married couple.

This information is valuable, especially when you consider the Mess-is-leaving drama that has played out over the past year, and may still play out. The front office at Barca would rather have Messi stay and one sure way to do that is to add a long-time friend and teammate who can inject some more drive and passion into the tiring Messi.

Aguero has got a wealth of experience

Naturally, a 32-year old football superstar like Aguero will have learned and experienced enough about football to make him a treasure trove of football knowledge. No doubt, Sergio will be passing on his knowledge down to young forward players in Barca like Ansu Fati and Dembele, helping them grow and develop at a much faster pace.

A person might say “But, Aguero does not know how La Liga works”. That person would be wrong.

Before his move to Manchester City in 2011, Aguero made 230 appearances for Atletico Madrid, scoring a lot of goals too. Sergio isn’t walking into new territory because he’s already familiar with the terrain. He’ll only need to readjust.- Soccer24 Zimbabwe

2023 Polls: Don’t Lose Hope, President Chamisa Implores Nation

Tinashe Sambiri|MDC Alliance leader President Nelson Chamisa has said Mr Emmerson Mnangagwa’s Illegal administration has dismally failed to address the needs and concerns of citizens.

Speaking on the struggle for freedom in the country, President Chamisa said:

“Oh, what a journey! There is no easy walk to the New…a New Zimbabwe Never give in.

Never give up. We must WIN Zimbabwe for change. The future is exciting.”

According to President Chamisa, the real problem in the country is the election rigging structure established by Zanu PF.

President Chamisa also said Mr Mnangagwa’s Illegal administration can’t demolish illegal structures.

“AN ILLEGAL GOVERNMENT CAN’T DEMOLISH ILLEGAL STRUCTURES…

It can’t be normal for a government to specialize in destruction and demolition.

And why always do a ‘murambatsvina’ during cold winters? Unless we deal with the illegal structure produced by rigged elections, illegalities will be difficult to stop.

Shortage Of Health Personnel Stalls Covid-19 Vaccination

Today morning, health personnel at Mabvuku Satellite Clinic turned away residents who had come for COVID 19 1vaccination citing shortage of staff, a move that has been condemned by residents.

The group of more than 30 residents had come to get their second dose of Sinopharm vaccine with some coming as far as Eastview to get vaccinated.

“We were told by a nurse that they are short staffed because the nurse responsible for vaccination had no bus fare to come to work and we can come tomorrow”, said one of the men who was part of the group that wanted to be inoculated.

Another senior citizen lamented that she walked early in the morning to walk more than 5 kilometers only to be told to go back home.

“I stay in East view l woke up around 4am to come to the Council clinic to access my second dose only to be told there are no nurses this is unacceptable” ,said a devastated old woman who was part of people who were turned away.

The turning away of residents who want to get vaccinated from COVID 19 comes at a time when the local authority has been losing health personnel due to poor working conditions.

According to the City of Harare Health Department, the city has two hundred and forty two nurse vacancies due resignations.

The development has been viewed by residents as a violation of the right to health provided by the Constitution of Zimbabwe.

The sad development comes at a time when the cases of Covid 19 are surging at an alarming rate and the Government of Zimbabwe is encouraging citizens of Zimbabwe to be vaccinated.

CHRA calls on the local authority to improve the working conditions of health personnel and the government to provide health grants to the local authority in order to improve health services.

Mental Disorders And Suicide

The four strategies of this approach are:

limiting access to the means of suicide, such as highly hazardous pesticides and firearms;
educating the media on responsible reporting of suicide;
fostering socio-emotional life skills in adolescents; and
early identification, assessment, management and follow-up of anyone affected by suicidal thoughts and behaviour.

Premature Opening Of Schools Criminal- Majongwe

Govt Speaks On How To Curb Spike In Armed Robberies

HON. MASUKU asked the Minister of  Home Affairs and cultural heritage to inform the House what government policy is towards:

a)    Curbing armed robberies, burglary and muggings which are rampant.

b)   Giving municipal police arresting powers so that they can augment the national police as is the case in other jurisdictions.

c)    Procedure followed by the police in response to incidents of distress calls such as accidents, robbery and burglary.

d)    Plans available to increase police vehicle fleet within provinces and districts that are failing to get assistance from private sector donations.

e)    Plans available for the decentralisation of the production of passports and national identities to provinces and districts.

THE MINISTER OF HOME AFFAIRS AND CULTURAL HERITAGE (HON. KAZEMBE):

Madam Speaker, according to the briefings availed to me by the Commissioner General of Police, they have intensified their operations throughout the country to fight armed robberies, burglary and muggings.

As previously alluded to in my previous responses to the same question, the Commissioner General of Police has taken note of robbery reports.

Furthermore, there are numerous on-going measures aimed at curbing armed robberies, burglaries and muggings which include the following: intensifying foot, cycle and motorised patrols in crime prone areas.

In addition, the Commissioner General has directed all officers commanding provinces to deploy Support Unit, Criminal Investigations Department, Duty Uniform Branch and Police Intelligence in hot spots to curtail the robbery cases.

Also heightening awareness campaigns, educating members of the public not to keep large sums of money at home or business premises or even to move around with huge sums of money.

You find for instance people moving around with R190 000.  I know there is a case where this amount was stolen.

You find people keeping as much as close to a million United States dollars in a company safe when financial institutions are available.

The Police Command is engaging the Judiciary as well as another measure, urging them to impose stiffer penalties on perpetrators of violent crimes such as armed robberies, muggings and murder as a deterrent measures.

It is also in this regard that we continue to appeal to the House to tighten the legislation so that fugitive armed robbers when finally caught are not easily given bail.

In fact, some of the armed robberies are being committed by such elements who flout bail conditions with impunity, for instance the notorious armed robber Taj Abdul who has been evading justice for more than 20 years.

When he was arrested, he was on the brink of being granted bail.  As another measure, the police is also engaging various stakeholders with a view to enhancing inter-agency co-operation in the fight against crime.

Recently, the police held meetings with security companies in an endeavour to improve security strategies such as the way companies are handling cash-in-transit movements among others as another measure, police have also established that some of the armed robbery cases being recorded across the country are as a result of the influx of unlicensed firearms.

Some of these firearms were illegally brought into the country by criminal syndicates through the country’s porous borders.

Furthermore, some licensed firearms owners are also not securing their weapons and in the process end up losing them to criminals who then use them to commit robbery cases.  Accordingly, the police is intensifying roadblocks, stop and searches as well as awareness campaigns to conscientise firearm license holders to adhere to the provisions of the Firearms Act which demands the safe storage of firearms at all times.  I thank you.

Biti Exposes Rampant Looting Of State Resources By Mnangagwa Administration

Tinashe Sambiri|Hard-hitting MDC Alliance vice president Hon Tendai Biti has said Mr Emmerson Mnangagwa is among the worst dictators in the world.

Mr Mnangagwa has blessed corruption and rampant looting of State resources by his cronies, according to Hon Biti.

Hon Biti also exposed rampant looting of national resources by the Zanu PF regime.

Mnangagwa’s Government Of “Mass Destruction” Continues To Torment Citizens

Tinashe Sambiri|The MDC Alliance Namibia has described the Zanu PF leader Emmerson Mnangagwa’s administration as a government of mass destruction.

The MDC Alliance Namibia argues the regime should put in place measures to assist informal sector traders without destroying their stalls and structures.

Read full statement below:

It is sadist, inhuman, anti-people, cruel and degrading! Mdc Alliance Namibia absolutely condemns illegal demolitions in the Harare Metropolitan Province!

22 June 2021

Mdc Alliance Namibia totally condemns Operation Murambatsvina 2, a satanic and violent campaign meant to decimate the livelihoods of poor Zimbabwean people who are struggling to feed their families due to economic meltdown.

As a district , we stand in solidarity with the victims of Zanupf’s inability to create employment for the citizenry. The violence perpetrated on the diligent citizens by clueless Zanupf regime and power-hungry cronies in Harare , Zimbabwe must be peacefully resisted.

Social democrats in Namibia are infuriated and deeply concerned by the dismal failure to adhere to due process and the unprecedented insensitivity to the plight of the downtrodden and toiling unemployed urban masses. It is an inhuman campaign that is being engineered by the overzealous and empty-headed, Provincial Development coordinator, Mr Tafadzwa Muguti , and the unconstitutional Provincial Ministry structure led by the ovérambitious, Mr Oliver Chidhawu.

It is sad that the marketing stalls and houses are being demolished at such a critical time when Covid-19 pandemic is ravaging our communities with strict lockdowns that are compounded by these evil demolitions on the people’s sources of livelihoods.

Moreover, the devilish rampage to destroy our people’s income generating projects, vending structures, marketing stalls, tools of trade and other properties came at a juncture when the incompetent regime is not providing any safety nets to cushion the victims of Operation Murambatsvina 2. Mdc Alliance Namibia urges the government to re-establish the broken social contract between the governed and their governors. It is beyond nonsense to call yourself a government of the people that destroys people’s lives instead of developing it.

The scenario is quite sarcastic since the purported developers are the ones destroying. This must be resisted with equal measure because Zimbabwe is for us all and Zanupf should know that the country is not their private company or property. We are all Zimbabweans and the land is also ours. We should unite and demand the stolen national cake.

Furthermore, against the pathetic background of a sunken economy and escalating unemployment that has reached more than 95%, the majority of Zimbabweans have been compelled to survive on buying and selling of goods and wares in the informal sector. Our economy is now an informal one as a result vendors must be respected by the government. The focus of this inorganic regime should be on the provision of alternative spaces and infrastructure to support small medium enterprises in the motherland’s bleeding informal sector. As social transformers who subscribe to socio-economic liberation policies, we unreservedly dissociate our councillors from these illegal and sadist activities.

Moreso, Mdc Alliance councillors of the city of Harare recently issued a statement condemning this crime against humanity. In line with our #People’sAgenda ,we confidently call for urgent provision of Covid-19 safety nets from the confused state for the suffering informal sector. The Zanupf government must provide alternative convinient and viable work spaces and general policy implementation that supports the poor, not fighting against the poor of the land.

In a nutshell, Mdc Alliance Namibia is convinced that Zanupf is not a people’s government, it relies on captured courts and Zec to stay in power. That is the reason why they want to keep Mr Luke Malaba so that he can defend their planned rigging in 2023. We shall continue to urge our people to go and register to vote, go in 2023 to vote and peacefully defend the vote. Zimbweans must converge and demand their fair share of the national cake. It is now imperative to peacefully and democratically express our disgruntlement in this satanic regime.

Beware Of Factors That Lead To Suicide

To support countries in their efforts, WHO is today releasing comprehensive guidance for implementing its LIVE LIFE approach to suicide prevention. The four strategies of this approach are:

Mwazha: Jesus And I Went To England To Meet Prince Elizabeth The Queen

By Dorrothy Moyo | Religion Reporter | An undated video has surfaced of the outspoken preacher Paul Mwazha saying he and Jesus Christ once travelled to England and stayed with Queen Elizabeth for 3 days.

In the footage his church members say refers to a vision, Mwazha also said he assisted Jesus cross a river while both were heading back to Africa, past Scotland.

He also said those who convert to his church are the only ones who’ll see heaven.

He said:

I was given a book in which are written the names of all the people who go to heaven who are the ones who convert to attend the African Apostolic Church, that’s why you saw them coming up here.

Their names are what? CROWD: They are written.

Your names are written where? What I’m telling you is the Truth.

These people are leaving other people’s churches and coming to Jesus’s church, African? CROWD: Apostolic church.

This is the name that was given by the spirit of God. Because the Roman Catholic was the first church; the apostles had left Canaan, isn’t it that they sought refuge in the Roman Catholic church in England?

Isn’t it?

Now Jesus. when I was still a young man I went with him to England and we settled in the house of the wife of a Roman Catholic father, a priest. The man who was the leader of the Roman Catholic church what was his name? What was the name of that prince? Elizabeth, we went there and stayed in the house for 3 days I and Jesus.

And then we returned when we came back we went through Scotland. On arriving in Scotland we came across a river, and Jesus was in front of me. Upon arrival at the river, it came to my mind that he was afraid to cross the river. And I led him and we both crossed to the other side of the river.

When we were now on the other side of the river instead of entering Scotland we flew back to Africa. It was me and who? CROWD: With Jesus!

If you read part 1 and part 2 you discover that I lived with him at Guvambwa there. I stayed with him there, and also he is the one who gave me the Sabbath law; and also 5 lions to accompany me everywhere I go to preach. So I was given the power of how many lions? CROWD: Five.

There is nothing that can dare me. Everything is under my feet.

JUST IN: RBZ Governor Disowns Hugging Couple At Bank Premises

BY A CORRESPONDENT| The Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ) Governor Dr John Panonetsa Mangudya has disowned a couple who were spotted hugging at the Smoking Zone of the bank premises, saying they are employees of one of their service providers.

In a statement, Mangudya said they had informed the service providers and registered their concern at the behaviour of their employees.

“The images are of employees of one of the Bank’s service providers. The Bank has since advised the service provider of this development and its great disappointment with the behaviour of the duo,” said Mangudya.

He added that the incident was captured on one of their high definition CCTV which revealed that it happened around 1700 hours.

“The Bank’s high definition CCTV footage shows that the incident took place between 1708hrs and 1735hrs on 21 June 2021 and that the two people left the Bank Building at different times after 1900hrs,” added Mangudya.

He further noted that as the central bank, they were not happy with the incident and in their communication with the involved service provider, they emphasized the need for their employees to observe the bank regulations and COVID-19 restrictions.

“The Bank wishes to express its displeasure at the images circulating on social media of a man and woman hugging each other on the smoking zone mezzanine floor of the Bank Building,” said the central bank chief.

Images of two people hugging made waves on social media with the caption “kugadzirisa nyika”.

Daring Conwoman Pounces On Commutter Omnibuses, Collects Bribes

A daring conwoman has been flashing a fake police ID and collecting bribes from pirate commuter omnibus crews in Bulawayo while pretending to be a cop, police said.

Vinate Ncube, 35, was busted on Monday thanks to vigilant touts who tipped off real officers after losing money to the bogus agent who had accused a kombi driver of operating without Zupco licensing.

City police spokesman Abednico Ncube said the woman, who lives in Cowdray Park, was known to operate between 6th Avenue and Herbert Chitepo Street.

“The lady entered a white kombi and solicited a bribe after telling the driver that he was under arrest for not being Zupco compliant,” Ncube told ZimLive. “The driver gave her US$10. Some suspecting touts made a report to police officers who were supervising the area.”

The suspect is now assisting police with investigations.

“It appears she has always been going there impersonating a police officer and fleecing the pirate taxis and Kombis of their money claiming to be a police officer and producing a fake ID,” Ncube said.

He added that the woman’s arrest could point to a larger problem of crooks giving law enforcement a bad name by feigning being officers.

Bogus Female Cop Nabbed Fr Extorting Money From Kombi Drivers

Vinate Ncube

By A Correspondent- Pirating commuter omnibus (kombi) drivers and touts on Monday arrested a bribe-seeking woman who was posing as a police officer in Bulawayo.

Vinate Ncube (35) was arrested after she allegedly extracted US$10 from Mr Jones Ndlovu, who was picking up passengers at 6th Avenue in Bulawayo.

Mr Ndlovu said he had no choice but to give Ncube US$10 after she threatened to not only arrest him but to impound his vehicle.

Private-owned kombis were last year barred from the roads to prevent the spread of the coronavirus but the defiant owners have been pirating some routes making them easy prey for corrupt officers.

Speaking on the citizens’ arrest effected on Vinate Ncube, Ndlovu said:

_I had to pay her because she was so convincing. She told me that she was a plainclothes officer deployed to nab pirate kombis in town. After I paid her, I drove away with the passengers, but after a while, I received a call from another kombi crew that told me that they had arrested her after they found out from Honda Fit drivers that the woman was a fake cop._

_We then called the police and they took her to Drill Hall Police Station. As we speak, she is there.  We are tired of these bogus cops who come here every day demanding money. We have now learnt that Drill Hall does not have plainclothes police officers. We are just trying to make a living, this must stop._

Ncube vehemently dismissed the allegations that she was impersonating a police officer and had demanded a bribe. She said:

_I am a sex worker and the driver is my client. He gave me US$10 and told me to wait for him at 6th Avenue as he was going on a trip. I am a very famous sex worker so he knew that I was not going to run away from him._

Ncube added that she was surprised when other drivers and touts arrested her claiming she had extorted money from them.

Mr Ndlovu laughed off Ncube’s claim that he was her client saying he has a wife at home adding “I don’t need this woman’s services.”

Over 130 bogus police officers were arrested in 2020 for terrorising unsuspecting members of the public around the country.

Zim Woman Nabbed For Heroin Smuggling In India

By A Correspondent- A 30 year old Zimbabwean woman was arrested in India for allegedly smuggling 2.91kg heroin through Cochin International Airport.

The woman, identified as Sharon Chigwaza was busted with the contraband by the Narcotics Control Bureau on Monday, Yahoo News reports.

Acting on a specific intelligence input, officers of Narcotics Control Bureau Cochin Sub Zonal Unit, seized the 2.91 kgs of heroin from Chigwaza who arrived at the airport from Johannesburg on June 19.

Narcotics Control Bureau officers intercepted Chigwaza who is suspected to be a member of the drug smuggling syndicate active in India.

Upon searching her, they found the contraband concealed in the specially made false bottom of her trolley bag on her arrival, the agency said in a release.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the source of the seized contraband was Johannesburg, where it was handed over to her by a Nigerian living in South Africa and the destination was Delhi via Doha-Cochin-Bangalore.She was scheduled to travel to Delhi soon after her arrival in Kochi.

In an almost similar development, a Zimbabwean woman was arrested in India last year after being found with a narcotic substance.

The woman, identified as 45-year-old Norest Gwatidzo, was arrested at Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi by agents from India’s Central Industrial Security Force (CISF).According to CISF officials, surveillance and intelligence staff noticed the woman moving suspiciously at the airport and invited her for a search.

On physical search of the bag, 15 polythene pouches with pseudoephedrine were found concealed in between her clothes.Gwatidzo was immediately arrested and the drug said to be worth about US$31,600 was also recovered.

Mliswa Exposes Ziyambi Ziyambi?

By A Correspondent- Temba Mliswa, Norton legislator, has posted pictures of married women which Justice Minister Ziyambi Ziyambi is allegedly dating.

We present Mliswa’s Twitter thread below…..

After I raised some serious objections to Ziyambi Ziyambi’s continued stay in office following his statements deriding the judiciary I have received more information. It shows that his shortcomings go beyond the legal into the moral.

Some informant has sent me this information which goes to show that, if true, then the man is beyond redemption for that office.

The husbands are usually powerless to do anything when someone uses their political clout to steal women. But we are not powerless as the people to be led by such characters. Justice Mabhikwa is under investigation for cases of this nature. Now his boss is also into the same.

For his birthday he even got a cake designed with some dagga pictures. Good for him and well done to the girlfriend for creativity.

More damning for Ziyambi is that under his leadership the country has passed some of the worst laws since independence. There appears to be a government conspiracy to create a web of vicious anti-people laws under his leadership of the Justice Ministry.

Today the judiciary is a front of constant friction; hounded and aggrieved Judges; litigations against bills; questionable credibility and ability; public attacks on the judiciary and multiple blunders on procedures. It’s a hotchpotch of the brazenly silly and the tragically painful.

My gripe with these issues is the lack of moral values in dating a married woman. That he is dating isn’t an issue but why a married woman who is also a junior officer. That’s an abuse of office. The husband is powerless especially against someone who goes to witch doctors.

He is now using his office to propel the interests of the cannabis girl who is going to be the consultant advising the Prison Services on its cannabis production business. The Prison Service is also under him. That is abuse of office.”

No Change To School Opening Dates, Says Nick Mangwana

Government has dismissed fake social media claims that President Mnangagwa has deferred schools opening by a further two weeks.

Schools are set to open next Monday for Second Term but a spike in Covid-19 cases has seen Government imposing localised lockdowns to contain the pandemic.

This has seen educationist unions lobbying Government to postpone the reopening of schools until the end of winter.

The spike in Covid-19 cases also saw fake new peddlers creating a message alleging that the President has pushed back the schools reopening.

In a statement on Twitter on Tuesday morning, Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Permanent Secretary Mr Nick Mangwana said so far there has not been a change on schools’ calendar.

“We have taken note of messages circulating on the WhatsApp platform alleging that the President has deferred the opening of schools by two weeks. That is not correct. Should there be a change regarding the opening of schools, Govt will make a formal announcement,” said Mr Mangwana.

The decision regarding opening of schools is expected to be announced after today’s Cabinet meeting.

National Covid-19 taskforce coordinator Dr Agnes Mahomva told our sister publication Sunday News over the weekend that the issue of the opening of schools would be on Cabinet agenda as Government is led by science in implementing Covid-19 prevention measures.

“We are looking into it. You are aware there is a taskforce that is always guided by science. We look at data on the ground and we make decisions based on that data. This taskforce meets every Monday and Cabinet sits every Tuesday. You will definitely hear from that process,” said Dr Mahomva.

Govt Takes Delivery Of A Further 500 000 Sinopharm Vaccines

THE National Covid-19 Vaccination Programme will receive a major boost this week when the country takes delivery of a new batch of 500 000 vaccine doses procured by the Government from Chinese pharmaceutical giant, Sinopharm.

Increased demand for vaccines, since the onset of the winter season, has caused vaccine stock-outs at some immunisation centres, threatening to derail the programme, which was being touted as the most effective on mainland southern Africa.

The sporadic vaccine shortages have coincided with an upsurge in new Covid-19 cases countrywide, forcing authorities to reintroduce stricter national and localised lockdowns in districts with high infection rates.

Zimbabwe moved into a Level Four National Lockdown last week, which includes a reduction in working hours and a blanket ban on social and sporting gatherings among other restrictions.

Nearly half a dozen administrative districts including Kariba, Karoi, Kwekwe and Makonde have been placed under stringent localised lockdowns after reporting surges in new infections.

A significant proportion of the new batch of vaccines will immediately be deployed to these districts where infections are rising.

The incoming consignment is expected to inject impetus into the vaccination programme, and hasten the country’s attainment of national head immunity.

Deputy Minister for Health and Child Care, Dr John Mangwiro told The Sunday Mail that distribution priority will be given to centres where appetite for inoculation is high.

“Next week (this week) we are receiving another batch of vaccines. I cannot confirm the amount now, but we will soon make that public,” said Dr Mangwiro.

“We always use our statistics to guide the distribution process. We will be targeting the hotspots areas like Kariba, Kwekwe and Hurungwe which are currently on lockdown.

“The Government is also redistributing vaccines to cater for areas that have been left behind.

“We understand that there are some centres that have not used all the vaccines they received so we are redistributing those to areas that have shortages.”

Chief co-ordinator for the National Response to the Covid-19 pandemic in the Office of the President and Cabinet, Dr Agnes Mahomva said: “We purchased these vaccines and we are expecting them anytime this month.”

Speaking recently during a post-Cabinet media briefing, Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Minister Monica Mutsvangwa said:

“Regarding vaccine procurement, the public is informed that delivery of the 500 000 Sinopharm vaccine doses which were ordered from China is expected in June 2021.”

Biti Hints On 2023 Party Name

By A Correspondent- MDC Alliance Vice President Tendai Biti has said the party will likely have a different name for the 2023 elections to avoid confusion as MDC-T led by Senator Douglas Mwonzora has hinted that it will use MDC Alliance for elections.

MDC-T claims that it is the party that is a member of the MDC Alliance that was formed in 2017 for the purposes of the 2018 elections.

To further cement this argument, MDC-T has been recalling MDC Alliance legislators and councillors accusing them of ceasing to be members of the party that had given them the card into the 2018 elections.

Biti hinted that they will likely remove the suffix Alliance and replace it with Chamisa. Speaking during an interview with HStvNews, Biti said the party was however not willing to completely abandon the name MDC as that would be a huge victory to the ruling ZANU PF. He said:

_My personal opinion is that we should never abandon the name MDC, it’s a personal opinion, and my personal opinion again is that if Mwonzora continues to do the stupid thing, then for the purposes of the next election or byelection let’s just call ourselves MDC Chamisa. After all, in 2008 we called ourselves MDC Tsvangirai to deal with challenges that were there._

_I have walked the length and breadth of this country, the name MDC is well invested in the people of Zimbabwe. How do we cast away a brand that was built for decades? It’s so difficult to build a brand._

The issue of the name and logo has been topical since the Supreme Court ruled in March last year that the MDC-T then led by Thokozani Khupe was the original party founded by the late Morgan Tsvangirai.

The court ordered the party to hold an extraordinary congress to elect a substantive heir to Tsvangirai who succumbed to cancer on February 14 2018.

Since last year, there has been warfare over the control of assets, name and symbols of the original MDC with the two factions claiming each of them was the rightful owner.

Some analysts have been urging Chamisa to adopt a different name to avoid causing confusion during elections while some were of the same opinion as Biti that there was much investment in the name therefore it cannot just be abandoned.

Afrobarometer Results On Zim Elections Critically Analysed

Zimbabwe woke up to a report by Afro Barometer which was so negative to the efforts being made in the democratisation of Zimbabwe and positive on the fight against COVID-19. The mixed bag from Afrobarometer carried more damaging opinions on the issues of politics and multiparty democracy. It rubbishes Zimbabwean effort to democratisation as manipulated and not progressing. The Afrobarometer round eight survey in Zimbabwe. 18-06-2021 brought out some points which motivated me to explore this survey barometer. While the issues on COVID are the reflection of the truth the political aspect showed a lot of bias which got my mind rolling.

What exactly is AFROBAROMETER?
Afrobarometer is supposed to be a non-partisan, pan-African research institution conducting  public attitude surveys on democracy, governance, the economy and society more than thirty countries repeated on a regular cycle. They are said to be the world’s leading source of high-quality data on what Africans are thinking. Afrobarometer is projected as the world’s leading research project on issues that affect ordinary African men and women. They are supposed to collect and publish high-quality, reliable statistical data on Africa which is freely available from and to the public.

Its secretariat headquarters are in Accra, Ghana, registered as a limited company by guarantee by the Registrar-General’s Department. This was Founded in 1999.

The surveys are carried out by region through a partnership of the Ghana Center for Democratic Development (CDD Ghana), the Institute for Justice and Reconciliation in South Africa, and the Institute for Development Studies at the University of Nairobi. The Institute for Democracy, Citizenship and Public Policy in Africa at the University of Cape Town and the Department of Political Science at Michigan State University are technical partners.

Afrobarometer surveys are conducted in more than 30 African countries and are repeated on a regular cycle.

Trends in public attitudes are tracked over time. Results are shared with decision makers, policy advocates, civic educators, journalists, researchers, donors and investors, as well as average Africans who wish to become more informed and active citizens.

The Afrobarometer was founded by America through Professor Michael Bratton of Michigan State University and Professor Emmanuel Gyimah-Boadi of CDD Ghana.  The two had the support of another American paid Professor Robert Mattes of the University of Cape Town (while based at IDASA),
So it is not surprising that their opinion and survey may be meant to please their sponsors and handlers. The fact that they rely on the funding of others it is expected for them to embellish the survey results to reflect the wish and the will of their sponsors.

The Africans are made to believe that  Afrobarometer’s aim is to give the public a voice in policymaking by providing high-quality public opinion data to policymakers, policy advocates, civil society organizations, academics, news media, donors and investors, and ordinary Africans. But in some cases the barometer feeds the handlers and investors with the negative information they collate against Zimbabwe. The outcome of their surveys seem to be tailor made and if the country is already in the top ten priority of regime change project the an opinion prepares the mind of people and poisons it with mistrust. By the time the regime change activists start fighting Zimbabwe the world has already been sold a dummy and the public opinion will have been set against the government. So the survey gurus are political activists and the list of their founders shows that they can never come out with anything reasonable on Zimbabwe.  The Afrobarometer peruses their regime change goal by what they say on their website

“Funding from a variety of organizations and institutions allows us to pursue this goal.”
Now the roiling 8 survey which issued a damning report on Zimbabwe democracy and meant to vilify Polad was funded by countries who pretend to love  Zimbabwe yet they are enemies of our country.
Financial support for Round 8 has been provided by:Sweden,Mo Ibrahim Foundation, Open Society Foundations, William and Flora Hewlett Foundation, U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) via the U.S. Institute of Peace
Funders for previous rounds have also included the U.S. State Department, National Endowment for Democracy, UK Department for International Development (DFID), World Bank, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Duke University China Research Center, Transparency International, Institute for Security Studies, Royal Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs (RDMFA), Danish International Development Agency (DANIDA), and Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA).

Donations are supposed to help Afrobarometer give voice to African citizens but unfortunately they are helping Anti African spirit to manifest in the minds of the West and investors.

Afrobarometer like any other survey companies is supposed to use national probability samples designed to generate a sample that is a representative cross-section of all citizens of voting age in a given country.  The goal is to give every adult citizen an equal and known chance of being selected for an interview.

Unfortunately when it comes to Zimbabwe the Afrobarometer only take its samples from towns. It is not a secret that the towns of Zimbabwe are predominantly opposition. So the Afrobarometer only carries a survey among the Oppostion members who are in towns and publish the results as authentic. The system itself is biased unfair and already designed to come up with an anti government opinion.

Afrobarometer is supposed to use random selection methods at every stage of sampling; which means they are supposed to go to Uzumba Maramba Pfungwe,Mutoko, Chiredzi and many rural areas. They should carry their survey in Muzarabani and each and every province in order to be fair human and indeed to give a none biased opinion.

They must be sampling at all stages with probability proportionate to population size  wherever possible to ensure that larger (i.e., more populated) geographic units have a proportionally greater probability of being chosen into the sample.

The sampling universe normally includes all citizens age 18 and older but Afrobarometer concentrated on few citizens.  As a standard practice, they are supposed to exclude people living in institutionalised settings, such as students in dormitories, patients in hospitals, and persons in prisons or nursing homes. But most of their interviewees are students and obviously they are highly fed with opposition propaganda.

The system used by Afrobarometer when it comes to Zimbabwe excludes the distinctive ethnic or language groups. They are left out of the sample and only those in areas  known to be pro opposition are the ones who are included in the surveys.

Zimbabweans do ask if This is a well oiled system sponsored by the West to undermine the African governments and at this time their emphasis is on Zimbabwe?Again it should be noted that there are survey groups for each continent.

Afrobarometer and Eurobarometer are cross-national comparative survey projects focusing on population sample surveys. Other related projects are the Arabbarometer (Arab region), Asianbarometer (Asia) and Latinobarometer (Latin America). Each of the barometers is implemented independently although in each country, a national research team administers a country-wide face-to-face survey using standardized survey instruments to compile the required micro-level data under a common research framework and research methodology.

You can ask yourself why do the Americans sponsor these projects. Why is the main sponsor a ministry of foreign affairs. The answer is not hidden in the cloud. It is clearly in the open.

Now coming to the results of round 8. The opinion is meant to split the Zimbabwean’s commitment to the second republic. The opinion purports you show that
today, more people than at any other stage since Robert Mugabe’s ouster in a military coup in 2017,  believe that there are defects in it’s  successor’s ruling machinery. The onslaught on Mnangagwa started just the day he was inaugurated. The opposition to Mnangagwa was motivated by the fact that the president has refused to give Chamisa a GNU he was praying for. When it comes to Zimbabwe the WEST wants the losing parties in elections to get ministerial positions. They want Zimbabwe to reward the losers.  This became a major reason which caused Mnangagwa to be an enemy of the West.

Being fair to the Afrobarometer the issues which were not highly political they try to be fair but any thing political the shadow inclines to the funders. 43%
of Zimbabweans described their ecomonic conditions as “very bad” or “fairly bad”.
79% of Zimbabweans prefer democracy to any other kind of government. 34% of Zimbabweans don’t see any difference between their own living conditions and those of fellow citizens.

On the good point the Afrobarometer stated that
Zimbabweans endorse government’s COVID-19 response but voice concerns about corruption and lack of assistance. Why were they quick to raise issues of corruption when the question had nothing to do with corruption.

A new Afrobarometer survey shows that even though almost half of Zimbabwean households lost a primary source of income during the COVID-19 pandemic, most citizens approve of the government’s overall management of the pandemic. Most Zimbabweans endorse lockdowns and school closures as painful but necessary.

But very few report receiving pandemic-related assistance from the government, and a majority believe that COVID-19 resources were lost to government corruption.

A majority doubt the government’s ability to ensure that COVID-19 vaccines are safe, and fewer than half say they are likely to try to get vaccinated.

Key findings
Even though almost half (47%) of Zimbabweans say their household lost a primary source of income during the pandemic and more than three-fourths (77%) say it was difficult to comply with lockdown/curfew restrictions, most citizens (81%) support the restrictions as necessary (Figure 1).

The same majority (81%) agree with the government’s decision to close the schools, although most (85%) say they should have reopened sooner (Figure 2).

Only one in 10 citizens (10%) say their household received pandemic-related assistance from the government (Figure 3). More than four in 10 (43%) say the distribution of government assistance was unfair.

More than eight in 10 Zimbabweans approve of the government’s performance in managing the pandemic (81%) and keeping the public informed (84%). But a majority (54%) believe that “some” or “a lot” of the resources available for responding to the pandemic were lost to government corruption (Figure 4).
Only four in 10 citizens (42%) say they trust the government to ensure that COVID-19 vaccines are safe, and only about half (47%) say they are likely to try to get vaccinated (Figure 5).

The Afrobarometer team in Zimbabwe, led by the Mass Public Opinion Institute (MPOI), interviewed 1,200 adult citizens of Zimbabwe in April 2021. A sample of this size yields country- level results with a margin of error of +/-3 percentage points at a 95% confidence level. Previous standard Afrobarometer surveys were conducted in Zimbabwe in 1999, 2004, 2005, 2009, 2012, 2014, and 2017.

However despite the COVID 19 endorsement the issues which touch the political eye which involve the American blue eyed boy Chamisa Afrobarometer put in some opinions which did not represent the Zimbabwean opinion pot.

The opinion by the Afrobarometer sought to cause mistrust and to turn the people against their government. They allege that Grievances are widespread amongst the urban and the rural, women and men and the young and old albeit to slightly varying degrees. They claim that This social, economic and political discontent is breeding a silent social war. This on its on is a well elaborated effort to opinionated the Zimbabwean public to prepare for a none existent social war. The Afrobarometer in their comment contain that “This is prompted by the government’s incompetence at the front leading to a weak social contract, economic hardships at home, food shortages, partisan institutions, and the ruling party’s growing illegitimacy.”

The opinions published by Afrobarometer are just a tick box expectations of their paymasters. What the Afrobarometer neglected to say is the fact that opinions do not directly translated into actual votes. They however boosted the MDC A by saying “there is no an alternative popular and overt electoral support for the resilient MDC Alliance-which despite state engineered weapons of mass destruction- has remained engraved in its social base and politically competitive.” The survey pretended to be setting the MDC A led by Chamisa & ZANU PF led by Mnangagwa on a collision track. But the truth is the opinion is designed to vilify ZANU OF and raise the awareness on MDC A whose popularity was falling after it split in several fragments.

The Afrobarometer claim that  These two parties Chamisa’s and ZANU OF are the only statistically significant as per respondents.

The idea in the dark corners of Afrobarometer is to prop up Chamisa as an indomitable lion and an in defeat able champion.

Afrobarometer is portraying a fallacy that
“The ZANU PF government’s rural legitimacy is evidently waning following the loss of urban legitimacy in the 1990s. The majority of the citizenry in the rural areas (62%)  feel that the country is going in the wrong direction.  However, this does not directly translate to the MDC A’s rural legitimacy.”  This opinion must never be taken seriously it is only the fruits of a project regime change. The idlers is to feed the rural folks with falsehoods so that they will have their trust in ED shaken.

It should be clearly pointed out the handlers of the Afrobarometer are hoping that MDC Chamisa will make this is a big opportunity to harvest and harness the perceived growing rural discontent and articulate a vision based on the quotidian livelihoods concerns of the people and perhaps a wider vision of Development of Industries in Rural Areas.

Capitalising on this fake opinion the social media activists started insulting ZANU OF supporters as uneducated. It should be mentioned that free education for all was brought in by ZANU PF.
Powered by the President ED’s push to embrace the youth Zimbabwe now sees many youths joining ZANU PF and urging many youths to register to vote. ZANU PF government is gaining confidence across all demographic groupings. 61% of those above 56 years believe the country is going in the right direction.  67% of those who are 18-35 years and 71% of those between 36 and 55 years believe the same. The confidence  for the ZANU PF government is largely shared among the older generation, the young generations and every other person in diaspora.

The problems raised in Midlands are not reflecting in the failure of the president. The president simply needs to be bold and re assign two divisive leaders in Midlands to different ministries and even put them in different provinces. Zimbabwe is for everyone so these two main godfathers and dividing factors of Midlands can be reassigned in the name of the party to other provinces or better still could be assigned to the head office. These two are cde July Moyo and cde Owen NCUBE. Their long dangerous methods and spreading of tribalism will not help us and this is what Afrobarometer used to vilify the wonderful province of Midlands.

The opinion by Afrobarometer is wrong and trying to demoralise ZANU PF. The opinion states that the government by and large is losing rural legitimacy, the data shows that the greater share of loyalty that remains is concentrated in Mashonaland provinces with less people, by comparison to other provinces, believing the economic condition is bad as follows: (1) Mashonaland Central (53%),  (2) Mashonaland East  (62%)  (3) Mashonaland West (67%). All the  other seven provinces have above 70% of people saying the economic condition is bad.

The opinion gives the MDC A ideas that “there might be a need for a targeted strategy to break the Mashonaland authoritarian axis of conditioned & structured politics.”

The shameless Afrobarometer gave the country no hope. They say  Only 35% think the economic situation will improve. This is the power of the opinion. It appeals to your mind and destroys your thinking.  We must know that the country needs hope. Hope is a feeling of expectation and desire for a particular thing to happen.

Hope is an optimistic state of mind that is based on an expectation of positive outcomes with respect to events and circumstances in one’s life or the world at large. As a verb, its definitions include: “expect with confidence” and “to cherish a desire with anticipation. ZANU PF is a hopeful party and our people know that we will get there.

We must never be mistaken opinion is the greatest tool in destroying a government. Most political issues are heavily framed in order to persuade voters to vote for a particular candidate this is what Afrobarometer seeks to achieve with Zimbabwe. They preparing Zimbabweans to be divided lot in opinion. Public opinion can be influenced by public relations and the political media and the social media. Afrobarometer gives that opinion a rare legitimacy. So that if the opposition loses elections they will claim that it was rigged and they will be relying on the wrong legitimated opinion Additionally, mass media utilizes a wide variety of advertising techniques to get their message out and change the minds of people. By its very nature, the democratic process spurs citizens to form opinions on a number of issues. Voters are called upon to choose candidates in elections, to consider constitutional amendments, and to approve or reject municipal taxes and other legislative proposals. Almost any matter on which the executive or legislature has to decide may become a public issue if a significant number of people wish to make it one. The political attitudes of these persons are often stimulated or reinforced by outside agencies—a crusading newspaper, an interest group, or a government agency or official. In this case Zimbabwe is being sold on an Afrobarometer  wrapping paper.

The English philosopher and economist Jeremy Bentham (1748–1832) saw the greatest difficulty of the legislator as being “in conciliating the public opinion, in correcting it when erroneous, and in giving it that bent which shall be most favourable to produce obedience to his mandates.”
Zimbabwe must challenge and reject the regime change agenda coming through the Afrobarometer miss-opinion project.

This is a project fully sponsored by those who hate our country. What can one expect from such malcontents. Zimbabwe does not vote through fake opinions. The opinions of our Zimbabwean people do mater. We show our our opinion in the ballot box.

Zimbabwe will never be divided by a Neo colonialist opinion rigging project.

“Chamisa Is A Nice Guy”: Mwonzora

By A Correspondent- MDC-T leader Douglas Mwonzora says he has no personal issues with Nelson Chamisa who leads rival MDC Alliance saying the latter views him as a good guy.

Speaking to Cde Fatso in last week’s episode of The Week, Mwonzora said that his differences with Chamisa were just on leadership styles.

He said:

_The relationship between myself and Chamisa is not a personal one, we have no personal issues against each other. We tolerate each other, I think he is a particularly nice guy he is funny; he wears nice shirts and so on._

_I do not simply agree with his leadership styles, and he also thinks that in some instances I am a good guy that is what he normally tells people._

Asked what he would do if he were stuck on a crocodile-infested island with Chamisa, Mwonzora said he would try to save him.

He said:

_He is a Zimbabwean, he is my brother, and I would try to save him from the crocodile if I can, just like I am trying to save him from the political folly that he is trying to get into._

_The association with G40 is a kiss of death, nothing good is going to come from the association with Jonathan Moyo and so on, the politics do allow it._

_I will do my best to try to talk to him, I have extended an olive branch on more than two occasions. The first one we met at a funeral after I had taken over as President. I said to him two things directing to him, that we have absolutely no option but to unite the people of Zimbabwe._

_Number two we have absolutely no option but to tackle the Zimbabwean problems together as people of one family._

He added that he understands that Chamisa, just like President Emmerson Mnangagwa are Zimbabweans with a particular way of looking at politics and life and they have the right to be.

Mwonzora added:

_And I do not mind that he is leading his party and so on, but his supporters must know that in as much as they have that right other people have those rights too. They must not spend all their time on Mwonzora._

Some believe there is bad blood between Chamisa and Mwonzora following their fallout over the party leadership.

Human Rights Lawyers Save Hwange Woman From Evictions

By A Correspondent- Hwange Magistrate Barbra Phiri has ordered Hwange Colliery Company (HCC) to allow a 29-year-old woman re-occupy her house after she had been evicted by the state-run coal miner.

On 11 March 2021, HCC security personnel evicted the 29-year-old Rosemary Nyamuba together with her two minor children from her house which she leases from the coal miner in Matabeleland North province and where she has been a resident for several years.

HCC claimed that it had received a complaint from Nyamuba’s neighbours that she was buying and selling some cool drinks and therefore running a shebeen at her premises and gave her 30 minutes to remove her belongings from the property and locked the house and took away the keys.

Nyamuba, who denied running a shebeen, complied with the HCC order and removed her property with the help of neighbours. Since she had not been served and given adequate notice to vacate, she had made no other plans and as a result, she slept in the open with her two minor children.

Nyamuba approached lawyers Prisca Dube and Jabulani Mhlanga from Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights, who on 12 March 2021 applied for a spoliation order at Hwange Magistrates Court and which was granted by Magistrate Phiri on the same day.

In the application, Dube and Mhlanga argued that Nyamuba has a right not to be arbitrarily evicted from her home without a court order granted after considering all the relevant circumstances as enshrined in section 74 of the Constitution.

The lawyers further argued that leaving Nyamuba to live in the open with her two minor children would expose them to physical and psychological harm and was a violation of their rights to human dignity.

Nyamuba has since regained occupation of her residence.

ZLHR intervened by assisting Nyamuba to protect her right not to be arbitrarily evicted without a court order and to uphold the rule of law where people are not encouraged to take the law into their own hands as had been done by HCC.

Apostolic Sect Members Rubbish Mnangagwa, Say Will Only Listen To God

By A Correspondent- One of Johanne Masowe yeNyenyedzi Nomwe leaders only identified as Madzibaba Reginald told H-Metro that they follow spiritual orders more than human leaders since humans depend on spiritual guidance.

Madzibaba Reginald who leads a sect worshipping near Graneville Cemetery went on to claim that the Covid-19 pandemic does not affect his followers and are yet to go for vaccination.

“We were yet to receive the message about the ban for churches to conduct services but we respect and follow spiritual orders more since human leaders also seek spiritual guidance,” said Madzibaba Reginald.

“Isisu tinotevera inzwi zvekuti chero zvema facemasks hatishandise nekuti mweya anoti asvika pano haabatwe nechirwere ichi.

“Although we do not defy government orders as a church we follow spiritual orders and concerning vaccination, none of us here has been vaccinated.

“Since we were unaware about these Covid-19 restrictive measures, we usually give announcements to our followers after the service and we will inform them about this,” said Madzibaba Reginald.

Madzibaba Reginald who leads a sect worshipping near Graneville Cemetery claims that the Covid-19 pandemic does not affect his followers and are yet to go for vaccination.

Another shrine led by Madzibaba Sydney in Stoneridge conducted their church service and the sect spokesperson only identified as Madzibaba Victor told H-Metro that their followers do not read newspapers or listen to the radio.

“We were not aware of the ban to gather since most of our followers including myself do not read newspapers or have time to tune in to radio,” said Madzibaba Victor.

“Our leader Madzibaba Sydney is in Zvishavane right now and is not aware of this gathering but I was shocked by the attendance today maybe some received the message of the banning of church gatherings,” said Madzibaba Victor.

Another shrine along Willowvale Road led by one Madzibaba Jeremiah was gathered while conducting prayers during the lockdown.

Several apostolic churches on Sunday defied the Covid-19 gatherings ban with some claiming that they follow spiritual orders

“We had gathered to inform our followers about the government orders and they complied,” said Madzibaba Jeremiah.

“These few people are here to receive prayers and leave the shrine,” he said.

One of the Johanne Masowe yeChishanu leader Madzibaba Moses urged some of his fellow leaders to comply with government directives to save lives from the pandemic.

“Our government has put these measures to save lives from Covid-19 that has taken lives across the globe so there is a need to comply with the restrictive measures set,” said Madzibaba Moses.

“Those who are defying the measures must face disciplinary measures since the measures have been put to save people’s health.

“I complied with the measures set and we will gather when the government says it is safe,” he said.

Another Diamonds Millions Looted

By A correspondent- the Zimbabwe Consolidated Diamond Company (ZCDC) has failed to account for the use of money exceeding US$400 million, while also failing to properly account for 352 583.11 carats of diamonds worth about US$146.3 million which were in stock, raising the possibility that they could have been stolen.

In her 2019 report on state enterprises, Auditor-General Mildred Chiri said she doubted the company’s ability to continue operating due to losses while questioning some of the investments of the company.

The Auditor-General is worried that ZCDC may not be able to recover money it invested in companies that have since folded.

Diamond revenue has been a contentious issue with the late former president Robert Mugabe once claiming that revenue of up to US$15 billion had been stolen. Although the figure was largely doubted, it was seen as confirmation that indeed there was looting in the diamond mining sector.

Chiri said ZCDC was failing to conduct a stock count of the diamonds at the sort house, risking possible pilferage of inventories, which may go undetected.

“There was no evidence of a documented formal process of reconciling physical stock counted to theoretical stock. For instance, the following anomalies were noted in respect of diamond stocks which then necessitated post year-end adjustments to the financial statements which had been presented for audit,” Chiri said.

“In 2019, 297 660.41 carats of diamond stock held at MMCZ (Minerals Marketing Corporation of Zimbabwe) was not counted at the time of the stock count. These parcels were packed for customers and held at MMCZ. However, at year-end, during the stock count, these stocks were not included in closing inventories; and in 2018, 41 699.85 carats of diamond stocks held at MMCZ were excluded from the stock count. It was assumed at the time that these stocks had been sold to customers.

“An additional 13 222.85 carats were excluded from the final stock sheet in error.”

The Auditor-General also noted that at the time of the audit in April 2020, there had been a sale of diamonds to a local customer in September 2019, which has not been paid for or collected, eight months after the sale. She said this was in breach of tender rules which state that a customer should pay for their parcels within three days of winning a tender.

Chiri expressed concern that “possible pilferage of inventories may occur and go undetected.”

She also said material variances between physical stock and theoretical stock may go undetected. The audit was not able to verify the valuation (recoverability) of amounts owed by related parties with a balance exceeding US$300 million on the company’s statement of financial position.

“I was not able to verify the valuation (recoverability) of amounts owed by related parties with a balance of $304 258 953 on the company’s statement of financial position. Some of the amounts are owed by companies that have since closed down whilst ZMDC has not acknowledged the amount due. Management failed to provide persuasive audit evidence on how and when these amounts would be recovered. Consequently, I was unable to determine whether any adjustments to the above-stated amounts were necessary,” she said.

“I was not able to verify the valuation (recoverability) of amounts owed by related parties with a balance of $24 347 454 on the Company’s statement of financial position. The amounts are owed by companies that have since closed down. Management has failed to provide us with persuasive audit evidence on how and when these amounts would be recovered.”

Chiri said she could also not verify the valuation of the investment of US$20 295 856 and US$178 799 841 into DTZ- OZGEO Limited as the company failed to enable the office of the Auditor-General to assess the fair valuation.

In addition, the ZCDC management also failed to provide the Auditor-General with an impairment assessment for the investment in the subsidiary.

“Consequently, I was unable to determine whether any adjustments to the above-stated amounts were necessary,” Chiri said.

“I was not able to verify the valuation of accruals with a balance of $51 613 628 (US$51.6 million) and trade creditors with a debit balance of $82 686 279 (US$82.7 million) and the rights and obligations of the company thereon. Delays in the recording of invoices into individual supplier accounts meant that as at the time of our report, management had not provided me with sufficient and appropriate evidence to support these amounts.”

On the governance issues, Chiri noted that the mining company did not have independent directors as all board members in the interim had interests in other related parties.

The company also had some goods worth US$352 068 which were long paid for but not yet received, indicating possible deficiencies in the company’s supplier selection or capacity of selected suppliers to fulfil contractual obligations, according to Chiri.

Five carats of diamonds worth US$2 075 belonging to a producer also went missing at the MMCZ during a weight verification exercise.

“In addition, the CCTV video footages could not be retrieved as there was an internal control system failure,” the Auditor-General said.

The ZCDC paid board fees and allowances that were above the approved rates during the year under review, according to Chiri.

Usain Bolt, Wife Welcome Newborn Twin Sons

Sprinter Usain Bolt has had twin boys, named Thunder Bolt and Saint Leo Bolt.

Bolt, 34, announced the news on Instagram on Father’s Day, with a lightning bolt emoji next to each of his children’s names.

The Olympic champion posted a photo of him and partner Kasi Bennett, with their twin boys and one-year-old daughter Olympia Lightning.

The couple did not say when exactly the twins were born.

Bennett also posted a photo with the babies, saying Bolt was “the rock of this family and the greatest daddy to our little ones”.

Olympia Lightning was born in May 2020, and her name was announced publicly two months later.

Before her birth, Bolt had kept followers updated of Bennett’s pregnancy on his social media. However, neither he nor Bennett had posted about her pregnancy with the twins.

Bolt, a Jamaican sprinting icon, retired from athletics in 2017 and still holds the 100m and 200m world records, making him the fastest man in history.

He is also the only man to have won three 100m Olympic titles and 23 major gold medals during his career.

After leaving athletics he tried to play professional football, but then announced he was leaving sports entirely in 2019.

Bolt is not the first celebrity to use a play on words when naming children.

In 2013 Kanye West and his wife Kim Kardashian West, who are currently separated, made headlines when they named their child North West.

Musician Jermaine Jackson named his son, who is now 20 years old, Jermajesty.

And television actor Rob Morrow from 1990s series Northern Exposure named his daughter, who is now also an actor, Tu Morrow. – BBC Sport

EMA Seeks To Reduce Veld Fire Losses

THE Environmental Management Agency (EMA) has adopted innovative ways among them the extensive use of digital platforms to achieve its minimum target reduction of 25 percent of land lost to veld fires this year.

The agency’s manager for environment and education Ms Amkela Sidange yesterday said work had started, to streamline most awareness programmes to fit into the Covid-19 pandemic prevention protocols.

She said the agency was rolling out an extensive community outreach programme dubbed the ‘Accelerated community fire awareness programme’.

Ms Sidange said EMA had started raising awareness in hot spots around Mashonaland and Manicaland provinces.

The veld fire season officially starts on July 31 and ends around October.

“We have adopted a variety of approaches and strategies to raise public awareness and capacity on veld fire management,” said Ms Sidange.

“Some of the strategies include the use of digital platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp, YouTube and Instagram; including use of the website to disseminate information on veld fire prevention. In addition, we are also carrying out community meetings, training and demos, talk shows and roadshows, among many others.

“As we approach the veld fire season, we are calling on farmers, landowners, and tenants and farming communities to urgently put in place relevant and adequate measures to prevent veld fires.”

She said the normal fire preparations have been hampered by the novel Covid-19 pandemic, but innovative ways have been employed to ensure improved fire management strategies are being implemented.

Ms Sidange said all efforts were in line with the 2021 veld fires season theme ‘Veld fires and food security-Protect the harvest’.

She said the agency had done mass production and distribution of Information, Education and Communication (IEC) Material ranging from posters, brochures, flyers, stickers and fire assessment reports.-Chronicle

Paul Mwazha: Jesus And I Travelled To See Queen Elizabeth And I Helped Him Cross A River.

Kaizer Chiefs Fans Want Musona Comeback

ZIMBABWE captain, Knowledge Musona, celebrated his 31st birthday yesterday, amid a wave of pleas from Kaizer Chiefs fans for the Warriors star to return to the South African giants.

His 31st birthday comes at a time when his future in Europe, where he has been based in Belgium, for some time, now uncertain despite having another season left on his contract with Anderlecht.

Reports have suggested Musona might part company with the Belgian giants who have been loaning him to other clubs, with indications showing he could secure a permanent move to KAS Eupen.

The Smiling Assassin had a very successful loan spell at KAS Eupen, in the last Belgian top-flight season, but the decision by the coach, who appeared to have faith in his talent, to move elsewhere, could derail a possible return.

While there has been genuine interest from South African clubs, his handlers have indicated that many of them could find it difficult to pay the wages which a contract with the Warriors skipper would demand.

The media-shy skipper posted his picture, accompanied by a message, on his Twitter page.

“Grateful to God for another year. Happy birthday to me,” he tweeted.

His latest birthday also comes exactly 10 years since Musona first left Chiefs, after signing a five-year deal, with Bundesliga side, TSG Hoffenheim.

“(Musona) has shown that he can score for club and country and we want to build up on this potential,” the then Hoffenheim coach, Holger Stanislawski, said when Musona’s deal was confirmed.

The striker, who was a big success at the Amakhosi, suggested he would one day return.

“I would like to thank everyone at Kaizer Chiefs, for everything they have helped me with since the beginning of my pro career,” he said.

‘‘I hope one day I will be back – I will never forget my time at Chiefs.”

While he returned, for a loan spell, the Amakhosi fans want him to come back for good and fire their team back to glory, on the domestic front, after years of struggles.

That was the underlying tone of their messages to his Warriors teammates, Khama Billiat and Willard Katsande, after the Chiefs’ duo posted messages, on Twitter, congratulating their national team skipper.

‘‘Happy birthday captain,’’ posted Billiat, who is currently injured, and missed his team’s sensational victory over Wydad Casablanca, in a CAF Champions League semi-final, first leg match, on Saturday.

Katsande, who was replaced by Musona as the Warriors skipper, also used Twitter to congratulate his compatriot.- The Herald

Three Teachers Succumb To COVID-19

Three teachers at Karoi schools succumbed to COVID-19 on Thursday last week as Zimbabwe is experiencing a coronavirus resurgence.

Karoi is among several districts in Mashonaland West province that have been declared COVID-19 hotspots by the Health ministry and is under localised lockdown.

One of the deceased teachers, Goodluck Tobaiwa Chambe, of Chikangwe High School was a principal marking supervisor under the Combined Science section.

Progressive Teachers Union of Zimbabwe (PTUZ) secretary-general Raymond Majongwe said it was sad that Chambe died without getting his dues for marking last year’s ZIMSEC examinations. Said Majongwe:

We are not happy that the late Karoi teacher (Chambe) was yet to get paid by Zimsec. He never got his dues and this is how bad it is as people who offered services, but national institutions renege on making payments. The impact of COVID-19 is obviously felt as he could have used the funds to buy protective equipment and to get medical attention. This is a tragedy.

Zimsec public relations manager Nicky Dlamini consoled the Chambe family confirming examination markers were yet to receive their allowances. Dlamini said:

We are sorry for the family’s loss. Let me confirm that the payments for teachers, who marked Zimsec examinations, are currently being processed. Those that marked language papers were paid in May, the next batch of payments is being dispatched._

COVID-19 affected many systems, not only Zimsec, but globally. It is unfortunate, but the payments were made in batches.

Majongwe said more teachers were likely to succumb to the pandemic and appealed to the government to immediately put in place measures to protect them.

He added that PTUZ views the “premature” reopening of schools as criminal as the move has resulted in the loss of lives.- NewsDay

President Putin: 75th Anniversary of the Great Victory

On 80 years since the beginning of the Great Patriotic war of 1941-1945

By President Vladimir Putin | 80 years have passed since the beginning of the Great Patriotic War.

The attack by Nazi Germany was unprecedented in terms of its destructive power. On June 22, 1941, the Soviet Union (USSR) faced the strongest, most mobilized and skilled army in the World with the industrial, economic and military potential of almost all the conquered countries of Europe working for it. Not only the Nazi, but also their satellites and military contingents of many other states of Europe, took part in this deadly invasion.

The most serious military defeats in 1941 brought the Soviet Union to the brink of catastrophe. Combat power and control had to be restored by extreme means, nation-wide mobilization and intensification of all efforts of the State and the People. In summer 1941, millions of citizens, hundreds of factories and industries began to be evacuated under enemy fire to the east of the country. Manufacture of weapons and munition for the front was launched in the shortest possible time. The Soviet people did something that seemed impossible, both on the front lines and the home front. It is still hard to realize, understand and imagine what incredible efforts, courage, dedication these greatest achievements were worth of.

The tremendous power of the Soviet People, united by the desire to protect the native land, rose against the powerful, armed to the teeth, and cold-blooded Nazi machine. It stood up to take revenge on the enemy, who had broken and trampled peaceful life, as well as people’s plans and hopes.

The Nazi ‘strategists’ were convinced that a huge multinational state of the Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics would be brought to heel easily. They thought that the sudden outbreak of the war, its mercilessness and unbearable hardships would inevitably exacerbate inter- ethnic relations, and that the country could be split into pieces.

But from the very first days, it was clear that the Nazi plan had failed. The Volga region and the Urals, Siberia and the Far East, the republics of Central Asia and Transcaucasia became home to millions of evacuees. Their residents shared everything they had and provided all the support they could. Friendship and mutual help became a real indestructible fortress for the enemy.

The Soviet People and the Red Army made the main and crucial contribution to the defeat of Nazism. These were heroes who fought to the end surrounded by the enemy at Brest, Bialystok and Mogilev, Uman and Kiev, Vyazma and Kharkov. They launched attacks near Moscow and Stalingrad, Sevastopol and Odessa, Kursk and Smolensk. They liberated Warsaw, Belgrade, Vienna and Prague. They stormed Koenigsberg and Berlin.

On April 28, 1942, the US President Franklin D. Roosevelt said in his address to the American nation: “These Russian forces have destroyed and are destroying more armed power of our enemies – troops, planes, tanks, and guns – than all the other United Nations put together.” Winston Churchill in his message to Joseph Stalin of September 27, 1944, wrote that “it is the Russian army that tore the guts out of the German military machine…”.

The years 1941-1945 turned into one of the most dramatic periods in our history. The lives of almost 27 million people were taken away. It was the bravery, sacrifice and resilience of the entire Soviet people and the glorious Red Army strengthened with the gallant and essential support by the Allied Forces that made it possible to defeat Nazism. The Victory over the Third Reich when the Nazi surrendered to the Soviet troops in Berlin in May 1945 was crucial for ending the Second World War. It provided the conditions for establishing the United Nations and contributed significantly to the process of decolonization and to shaping the modern relations between the nations.

Full Text:MDC Alliance Launches New Branch In Mzansi

Mdc Alliance KwaZulu-Natal District successfully launched a branch in Inanda, South Africa.

21 June 2021

Mobilisation and recruitment intensify in the Mdc Alliance South Africa Province as KwaZulu-Natal District successfully launched another organic branch in Inanda on Sunday under the astute leadership of the Secretary General Mr Mukudu. Inanda branch was launched after Mdc Alliance Namibia also opened another on the 12th of June in the Northern part of Namibia. This is in line with the party’s #Agenda2021 where social democrats are expected to converge for complete change in the motherland. The successful launch revealed the great zeal in the diaspora to win Zimbabwe for change.

The district leadership did not struggle to gather social transformers in South Africa because the Zimbabwe citizenry exhibited their comprehension on the dire need to mobilise, recruit and radicalise everyone to achieve Constitutional Democracy in the fatherland. The elected pragmatic Chairperson of the main wing leader Dennis Hlaisi and Vice-Chairperson leader Mike Mujaji displayed their enthusiasm and revolutionary energy to urge all Zimbabweans to cross the borders to Register to Vote, Go and Vote in 2023 and consequently get ready to defend the will of the masses. The need to defend the vote becomes a very fundamental strategy after social democrats in Zimbabwe became serial victims of massive rigged elections in Zimbabwe.

Moreover, this opens a novel chapter for KwaZulu-Natal District as the recruitment and mobilisation drive ahead of the harmonised 2023 elections had already kick-started in most districts in the Mdc Alliance province of South Africa. #CitizensConvergenceForChange has commenced to bear fruits and Zimbabweans in the diaspora are getting more and more united under the astute and able leadership of President Advocate Nelson Chamisa Wamba Dia Wamba. Leaders in Inanda were mandated to grow the party branch and encourage members to take party in the serious national issues. The main wing was supported by the Youth Assembly Commander Kudakwashe Tembo and team who vowed to champion complete socio-economic liberation of Zimbabweans who are languishing in abject poverty caused by Zanupf’s failure to improve people’s livelihoods.

The Youth Commander made it very clear that it is the moral obligation of the Youths to save Zimbabwe from these insensitive Zanupf Satanists who continue to loot and steal the national cake with impunity. The Youths shall soldier on with the launched #OneMillionCampaign as well as the #6Million voters by 2023.

In a nutshell, Mdc Alliance Namibia is inspired by visibility activities in KwaZulu-Natal District in South Africa as the vibrant Secretary General promised to pay a courtesy visit to the newly launched branch to inspect progress in the branch.
The only plea from the membership was the issue of membership cards to escalate recruitment and mobilisation. I hope the party shall respond urgently to the critical issue of party cards since our people are craving to be properly identified as social transformers in the political behemoth. Mdc Alliance Namibia is also waiting patiently for the party cards to be available so that recruitment and mobilisation can continue unabated.

While a comment from the local police was awaited at the time of writing, a source cited by ZimEye at the time narrated her ordeal in the following words:

Good morning to you God’s people. I’ve encountered a problem: I came from Bindura last night, and got to Mbudzi at just after 8pm.

I boarded the bus called Boundary from Mbudzi traveling back to Beitbridge. This bus’ operators announced they are going for recess at Mvuma. When they got to Mvuma people got their foods and so forth. After that, while we were inside the bus as we were approaching the tollgate, it emerged there were several armed robbers on the bus, numbering up to 6. They had guns and they had knives; and they redirected the bus into the nearby bush. They kept going to the driver ordering him to turn this way and that way. They were ordering the driver to follow a certain soldier. The bus had traveled a bit into the forest when it was ordered to switch off its lights.

At that point, everyone was searched. We were beaten up. We got sprayed on, on our eyes. We got sprayed from around 1pm. Up to now it is after 2 and our eyes are still itching badly having been sprayed on. Up to now we are still feeling the pain, since others were stabbed.

The armed men were pointing a gun at anyone forcing them to release money.

After that they repeated their search. If you say you don’t have money you will be punished with beatings. It was so difficult today on the 21st June. And these men it seems they began began their plot back in Mbudzi in Harare, where they also got into this bus.

They were also being followed by a small car behind us. When we had turned into the bush, the car that was following us from behind then followed on, it parked outside and these people began searching us. After they began searching they punctured one of the tyres and quickly left.

We then traveled out of the bush. We got up to the tollgate. After leaving the tollgate, 5 km between there and Masvingo, that’s when the bus started moving on its rim; and the driver tried to control the bus. It was now traveling on its rim. Right now we are here where the breakdown happened. We rang the police station; they haven’t responded. There are people here who are bleeding who are still to be checked.

Facts About Suicide Prevention…

The four strategies of this approach are:

limiting access to the means of suicide, such as highly hazardous pesticides and firearms;
educating the media on responsible reporting of suicide;
fostering socio-emotional life skills in adolescents; and
early identification, assessment, management and follow-up of anyone affected by suicidal thoughts and behaviour.

Tinashe Sambiri|The MDC Alliance Namibia says Justice Erica Ndewere is an epitome of judiciary independence.

In a statement MDC Alliance Namibia described Justice Ndewere as a courageous Judge who refused to be manipulated by the Zanu PF regime.

See full statement below:

Justice Erica Ndewere is an epitome of Judiciary Independence, Mdc Alliance Namibia echoes.

20 June 2021

It is quite unfortunate that those who advocate for judiciary independence are victimised by the clueless regime for speaking truth to power. Mdc Alliance Namibia is absolutely infuriated that the objective Judge Erica Ndewere has been found guilty on two trumped up charges by the captured tribunal court which takes instructions from Zanupf morons.

Mdc Alliance Namibia Rundu Branch salutes Justice Erica Ndewere since she epitomises a serious resistance to judiciary capture.

Mdc Alliance Namibia has the conviction that Justice Erica Ndewere’s fight against judicial capture is a People’s fight for; 2.6 million voters whose will for complete socio-economic transformation was subverted by captured courts. We saw the Constitutional Court fight against the People’s Vote when they voted for the change that delivers. Our committed Judge was found guilty of supporting citizens who were unjustly convicted through summary over January 2019 stay away. The people of Zimbabwe are being jailed illegally for demanding justice and equality in Zimbabwe. Activists are denied their basic human freedoms through Zanupf-controlled courts.

Zim Diamonds Company Loots US$400 Million

Harare Family Perish In An Inferno

Msasa Park was left awestruck yesterday when a mother, her two-year-old daughter and their domestic helper, died in an inferno in the early house of yesterday morning.

The fire is said to have been caused by an unattended candle that was left on as the family went to bed. Three other children who were inside the house survived when they were rescued by an alert neighbourhood watch team that heard the screams.

They were rushed to Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals where they have since been discharged.

Police said in a statement, the fire started when the family retired to bed after placing a lit candle on a plastic cup following a power cut.

“On 19 June 2021, a Harare woman (34), her daughter (2) and a maid died in a fire incident at their house in Msasa Park at midnight.

“The woman’s three children, comprising two boys and a girl aged 10, 6 and 7 respectively, escaped death by a whisker through the help of local security personnel and a passer-by.

“Initial investigations revealed that the fire started from a candle which was lit and placed on a plastic cup, following a power cut, before the family went to bed.”

When The Sunday Mail crew visited the scene yesterday, it gathered that the candle was in one of the children’s bedrooms before setting the entire house ablaze.

The deceased woman’s husband was in a state of shock and refused to speak to The Sunday Mail, referring all questions to his wife’s brother Kudakwashe Kutesera. The husband, believed to be working in Beitbridge, arrived yesterday on news that some members of his family had perished in the fire. Kutesera said the children went to bed before putting the candle out.

“From what we have gathered, the candle was placed on a plastic cup and we believe that is when the fire started,” he said.

“The fire started from the children’s bedroom before it spread throughout the house. Unfortunately, the mother died in the bathroom as she was trying to douse the fire with water, but was overwhelmed by flames and smoke.”

He said the woman had asked all the children to remain in their bedroom while she attempted to put out the blaze.

“Only two bedrooms were burnt as well as the bathroom and toilet and those who were in the other bedroom survived.

“While I am not sure where the maid was, the children were shouting through the window for help from the other bedroom only to be helped by the neighbourhood watch security,” narrated Kutesera.

He said the survivors and the maid, who had started working for the family only three days ago, were pulled out through a window.

“We suspect that the maid had inhaled a lot of smoke and unfortunately she died after being pulled outside.”

Msasa Park community was in a state of shock yesterday as news of the inferno spread. Neighbours were seen milling around the house as they sought to come to terms with what had transpired.

Hospital Official Nabbed For Stealing Cattle

By A Correspondent- A Chipinge District Hospital official has been arrested for slaughtering stray cattle.

Enock Sibiya allegedly connived with his brother and other accomplices and slaughtered stray cattle around Chipinge town and sell the meat to unsuspecting buyers.

Enock Sibiya (35) and David Sibiya (41), both from Chipinge, were working with Farai Gurudza (44) of Gaza O and Edson Mabvirakare who is already in custody on the same charge.

The gang, which is being represented by Mr Langton Mhunhu of Mhungu Associates Law Firm, appeared before Chipinge magistrate, Mrs Elizabeth Hanzi, on Tuesday.

They are facing stock theft charges as defined in Section 114 (2) (a) of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act.

The Sibiya brothers pleaded not guilty and were remanded out of custody on a bail of $10 000 each.

Gurudza was remanded in custody after failing to raise the $10 000 bail.
Enock also appeared before the same court last Friday facing charges of defeating or obstructing the course of justice.

He allegedly tried to stop witnesses from giving their statements to the investigation officers.

Prosecutor, Mr Thukani Zondwayo told the court that between September last year and May 30, the gang connived on four different occasions to steal stray cattle.

“David Sibiya would assign his accomplices to look for stray cattle around Chipinge.
“During the night they would then drive the targeted cattle to a secluded place and slaughter them. The Sibiya brothers would then transport the carcasses to Sithabile Hlunhupi’s house in Gaza.

“Enock would look for buyers and the gang would share the proceeds equally,” said Mr Zondwayo.

Notorious Bulawayo Armed Robbers Nabbed

By A Correspondent- Police details in Bulawayo have arrested two suspected armed robbers who allegedly shot a miner from Maphisa, Matobo district in Matabeleland South and got away with cash.

Their victim is still admitted to the United Bulawayo Hospitals after he was shot on the thigh on Monday last week.

The recovered pistol that they used to rob their victims
Emmanuel Sibanda and Alex Ncube, both aged 28 were last Friday arrested after alert police detectives on patrol observed that Ncube had concealed a gun on his waist.

The detectives arrested Ncube who upon interrogation led them to his accomplice.

Bulawayo provincial police spokesperson Inspector Abednico Ncube yesterday said the duo’s arrest is part of the police’s ramped up efforts to arrest criminals terrorising the country committing armed robbery and burglary cases.

Their arrest follows Police Commissioner-General Godwin Matanga’s instruction to provincial commanders to deploy police special units to armed robbery hotbeds in a bid to eradicate crime.

“We have arrested two suspected armed robbers linked to a robbery which occurred in Maphisa on June 14. The suspects, both aged 28 from Gwanda are said to have raided Nanet Mine in Maphisa where they shot one a man on the thigh and got away with US$1400. Their victim is hospitalised at UBH.

This is one of the many armed robberies that are occurring in our country. Therefore, the CID detectives have cleared one of the cases,” said Insp Ncube.

He said when police interrogated the suspects about the source of the gun, they revealed that it was smuggled from South Africa.

“They claimed they bought the firearm from outside Zimbabwe for R3000. They have been charged with armed robbery and attempted murder.

The accused person will appear in court soon,” he said.

By A Correspondent- A homeless and unidentified woman was found dead outside a city building on Monday morning possibly from the severe cold weather that is currently hitting the city.

The woman woman’s lifeless body was found lying outside a building situated at Corner 10th Avenue and George Silundila Street.

According to a witness Hilton Nyathi, a newspaper vendor, police details who attended the scene suspected the prevailing cold weather was a contributing factor to the woman’s death since she didn’t have any warm clothes on her.

“I was one of the first people to get to the scene and it just broke my heart. This is because I last talked to her yesterday (Sunday)morning when she asked for a $20. I gave her and she was so excited,” said Nyathi.

He adds: “I have known her for the past four years and she was not homeless. She was vendor and I don’t know what happened to her leading her to stay in the streets.

“Police officers who attended the scene suspected that she died from cold weather because she didn’t have blankets or any warmer clothes on her to protect her from the prevailing cold weather”.-statemedia

Evans Rusike To Join Amazulu?

Evans Rusike has been linked with a move to AmaZulu who will be playing in the CAF Champions League next season.

The Zimbabwean striker will be a free agent at the end of this month as his three-year contract, signed in 2018, with SuperSport United will not be renewed.

According to NewsDay, Usuthu have reignited their interest in the player and are pushing to add him in their squad for the coming campaign.

The Durban-based side was first linked with the player earlier this year but SuperSport decided against releasing him.

An unnamed source told the publication: “There are a number of possible suitors who have shown genuine interest in him, but Amazulu are the frontrunners in the chase for his signature. He might have struggled last season, but it was because he had just recovered from a serious injury.”

Rusike’s former club Maritzburg United was reportedly also keeping tabs on him but it’s unknown if the KZN outfit has remained among the potential suitors.- Soccer24 Zimbabwe

ZPCS Charges Prison Guard For Insulting Mnangagwa Over Mbuya Nehanda Statue

By A Correspondent| Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Services (ZPCS) on Wednesday 16 June 2021 commenced disciplinary hearing proceedings against Peter Kudzai Mushonga, a 29 year-old prison officer, who is accused of insulting President Emmerson Mnangagwa and some traditional leaders.

Mushonga, who is represented by Kudzai Choga of Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights, appeared before a disciplinary tribunal held at Chinhoyi Remand Prison answering to charges of contravening some provisions of ZPCS regulations namely section 3(1) of the Prisons (Staff) (Discipline) Regulations for allegedly using traitorous or disloyal words regarding Mnangagwa and his government.

ZPCS is also accusing Mushonga of being guilty of an act, conduct, disorder or neglect of duty to the prejudice of good order or discipline as defined in section 46 of the Prisons (Staff) (Discipline) Regulations.

According to ZPCS, Mushonga insulted Mnangagwa and some traditional leaders, who were paying some respect to the statue of Mbuya Nehanda on 25 May 2021 by commenting on his Facebook account on 26 May 2021 that he wished if those people kneeling before the statue could go mad.

Mnangagwa presided over the unveiling of a towering statue in central Harare on 25 May 2021 honouring Mbuya Nehanda, a 19th century anti-colonialist heroine and a spirit medium, who was hanged by colonialists for leading a rebellion against white occupation while some traditional leaders knelt down before the statue and performed some traditional rituals.

During the disciplinary hearing proceedings, ZPCS brought in three witnesses who are all prison officers to testify against Mushonga, who denied the charge and argued that his Facebook account had been hacked. The disciplinary hearing will continue on Friday 25 June 2021.

The prison officer has already appeared at Chinhoyi Magistrates Court, where his trial on charges of undermining authority of or insulting President Mnangagwa will commence on 23 June 2021.

Mushonga is the latest prison guard to be hauled before a disciplinary hearing facing charges of being a traitor and being disloyal to Mnangagwa.

In 2018, ZPCS charged John Mahlabera, a 36 year-old prison officer in Chiredzi with insulting Mnangagwa through posting some political comments on social media.

Mahlabera allegedly posted a message on micro blogging site Twitter, which reads; “Come to Chiredzi my president”. The ZPCS said Mahlabera posted this message after an opposition MDC political party rally that was held at Jerera Growth Point in Zaka in Masvingo province, which was addressed by opposition party leader Nelson Chamisa.

ZPCS said by posting such a message on Twitter, Mahlabera showed loyalty to Chamisa and disloyalty to President Mnangagwa.

The ZPCS charged that Mahlabera’s conduct was disgraceful to Mnangagwa and the prison officer had no right whatsoever to act in the manner he did.

Mamelodi Sundowns No Longer Keen To Sign Divine Lunga

DStv Premiership champions Mamelodi Sundowns have reportedly ended their chase for Zimbabwe international Divine Lunga and while shifting focus to his Warriors teammate Kuda Mahachi.

Lunga has been on the Masandawana radar for months and the Golden Arrows hierarchy has openly revealed the club will not stand in his way but reports in South Africa suggest that Abafana Bes’thende’s asking price for the former Chicken Inn star forced Sundowns to look for alternatives.

Both Kick Off and Soccer Laduma, renowned football publications across the Limpopo, are reporting that Sundowns are now on a mission to bring back Mahachi to Chloorkop.

Mahachi made 13 appearance for the Brazilians in the 2014/15 season after joining them from Highlanders but was loaned to Arrows the following season.

While at the KwaZulu Natal-based side, where he stayed for three seasons, the diminutive winger attracted interest from Orlando Pirates, sho signed him, but he could not live up to expectations and was eventually sold to SuperSport United.- Soccer24 Zimbabwe

ZNA Soldier, Armed Robbers Pounce On Masvingo Boundary Bus.

By Simba Chikanza | A suspected soldier and several armed robbers pounced on a Beitbridge bound Boundary bus last night.

The development was confirmed by local papers, MasvingoMirror and TellZim who revealed the victims are currently hospitalized at Masvingo General Hospital.

https://youtu.be/j4OI61SIMLk

CAF To Launch African Super League

CAF president Patrice Motsepe has revealed that they are considering forming an African Super League.

The competition will be similar to that which had been planned for Europe but was scrapped after a backlash.

According to Motsepe, the concept of the proposed Super League is already in discussion and the confederation plans to learn from the failed European tournament in coming up with the best implementation.

The South African businessman said in a statement posted on CAF website: “We are assessing and in preliminary discussions to start an inclusive and broadly supported and beneficial CAF African Super League.

“We have been following the attempts by some top European clubs to form a Euro Super League and will learn from their experience and pitfalls.”

The idea of the African Super League was first mooted by Fifa president Gianni Infantino when Motsepe assumed office in March.

According to a report by Reuters, Infantino suggested the league would have 20 permanent member clubs, as well as others who would qualify via regional play-offs. He predicted it would bring in US$3-billion in five years.- Soccer24 Zimbabwe

About Suicide Prevention…

The four strategies of this approach are:

limiting access to the means of suicide, such as highly hazardous pesticides and firearms;
educating the media on responsible reporting of suicide;
fostering socio-emotional life skills in adolescents; and
early identification, assessment, management and follow-up of anyone affected by suicidal thoughts and behaviour.
