LEAD President Linda Masarira Raises Concerns Over 100% ZiG Devaluation, Calls for Immediate Government Action

By A Correspondent| The Labour Economists and Afrikan Democrats (LEAD) President, Linda Masarira, has issued a strong statement following the recent 100% devaluation of Zimbabwe’s gold-backed currency, the ZiG, from a rate of 1:14 to 1:25. Masarira has warned that this devaluation is a clear indication of deeper systemic economic challenges, which will have serious repercussions for all Zimbabweans, especially the most vulnerable members of society.

Masarira emphasized that urgent intervention is needed to address the far-reaching consequences of the currency devaluation. The steep decline in the ZiG’s value will inevitably lead to increased inflation, driving up the cost of basic goods and services. She pointed out that Zimbabweans, particularly low-income families, are already struggling to meet their daily needs, and this devaluation threatens to further deepen poverty levels across the country.

“As LEAD, we believe that immediate and decisive action must be taken to mitigate the impacts of this devaluation and set our nation on a path toward sustainable recovery,” Masarira said.

Call for Social Protection and Wage Adjustments

Masarira urged the government to implement robust social protection measures to cushion vulnerable citizens from the harsh economic realities they face. She called for the expansion of social safety nets, such as scaling up food aid, subsidizing essential goods like fuel, and initiating cash transfers to help citizens cope with rising living costs.

The LEAD president also criticized the delayed salaries for civil servants, highlighting the ongoing struggles of government employees. “Teachers and other civil servants who were supposed to receive their salaries earlier this week haven’t been paid, and today we understand why,” she said. “The insensitivity to the plight of already struggling civil servants is appalling and a cause of concern to every progressive citizen of this country.”

Masarira demanded salary adjustments for civil servants, alongside pensions for senior citizens, to ensure that their earnings align with the inflationary environment. She also called for both public and private sector wages to be reviewed to prevent the further erosion of workers’ purchasing power.

Transparency in the Gold-Backing Mechanism

One of the key concerns raised by Masarira is the lack of transparency surrounding the gold-backing mechanism of the ZiG currency. Despite the global increase in gold prices, the 43% devaluation of the ZiG raises questions about the effectiveness of this mechanism. “What is the current state of the purported gold-backing of the ZiG currency?” Masarira asked. “Gold prices are increasing globally, yet the ZiG has devalued by 43%. This raises serious concerns about the effectiveness of the gold-backing mechanism.”

Masarira’s statement highlights the urgent need for the government to address the economic crisis and take steps to protect the welfare of its citizens. She called on policymakers to ensure transparency in the country’s economic management and take decisive action to avoid further deterioration of the living standards in Zimbabwe.

The recent currency devaluation underscores the pressing need for reforms, as the country navigates its way through complex economic challenges.

ZACC In Another Small Fish Arrest

By A Correspondent| ZACC has arrested Mazowe District Agronomist, Joseph Garati, for Criminal Abuse of Duty. He has since appeared at Concession Magistrate court and was remanded out of custody on USD200.00 bail.

Allegations are that Garati who is employed by the Agricultural Extension Services recommended the engagement of
Kenrod Marangwanda for the Agricultural and Rural Development Authority (ARDA) commercial farmers’ joint venture programme.

The accused allegedly confirmed to
ARDA that Marangwanda had access to 100 hectares of land under irrigation, when in fact he did not have.

Acting on the recommendation, ARDA issued Agricultural Inputs for 100 hectares to Marangwanda.

As an Agronomist, Garati was responsible for verifying reports by agricultural extension officers.

Mnangagwa Bribes Own Supporters With Goats

By A Correspondent

In a surprising move, President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s administration has launched a programme aimed at distributing goats to supporters in an apparent bid to bolster political allegiance.

The initiative, known as the Young Women for Economic Development Presidential Goat Pass-On Scheme, was highlighted by ICT Minister Tatenda Mavetera during a recent event in Mashonaland Central.

Mavetera emphasized that the program is designed not just to provide livestock but to empower families, enhance food security, and create sustainable income sources.

“This initiative is making a real difference in improving livestock production and livelihoods for our communities,” she stated. The minister’s remarks aimed to frame the distribution of goats as a significant contribution to community development.

However, the timing and nature of the initiative raise questions about its true intent. Critics argue that such a scheme may be a strategic move to secure political loyalty in a time of economic uncertainty and upcoming elections. By offering tangible assets like livestock, the government may be seeking to reinforce support among rural populations, who often feel the brunt of economic hardships.

Mavetera extended gratitude to various local leaders and stakeholders, reinforcing the collaborative nature of the program. “I see the smiles and excitement here today, and I wonder: who else needs goats?” she remarked, suggesting a broader outreach could be in the works.

While the initiative is framed as beneficial for the community, the underlying implications of using livestock as a form of political currency cannot be overlooked. As Zimbabwe navigates a complex political landscape, the Goat Pass-On Scheme may serve both as a lifeline for struggling families and a calculated effort to maintain support for the ruling party.

In this context, the question remains: can such initiatives genuinely empower communities, or do they risk being perceived as mere bribes in the political arena? The success of this program will likely be scrutinized as both an economic measure and a political maneuver in the lead-up to future elections.

Linda Masarira Statement On Devaluation Of ZiG Currency

Official LÈAD statement on the devaluation of the ZiG currency

27 September 2024

By Linda Tsungirirai Masarira

The recent 100% devaluation of the ZiG currency, from 1:14 to 1:25, is a direct reflection of deeper systemic economic challenges facing Zimbabwe. This decision has far-reaching consequences that will affect every Zimbabwean, particularly the most vulnerable in society. As Labour Economists and Afrikan Democrats (LEAD), we believe that immediate and decisive action must be taken to mitigate the impacts of this devaluation and set our nation on a path toward sustainable recovery.

We need immediate social protection for vulnerable citizens.
The devaluation will inevitably lead to rising inflation, increasing the cost of basic goods and services. Zimbabweans, especially low-income families, are already struggling to afford necessities, and this devaluation threatens to plunge even more of our citizens into poverty.

We urgently call on the government to implement robust social protection measures like
increaseing social safety nets. Immediate scaling up of food aid, subsidies for essential goods like fuel, and cash transfers to help citizens navigate the rising cost of living.

Teachers and other civil salaries which were supposed to be paid earlier this week haven’t been paid and today we understand why? The insensitivity to the plight of already struggling ivil servants is appalling and a cause of concern to every progressive citizen of this country. We demand salary adjustments to ensure decent salaries for civil servants and pensions for senior citizens. Public and private sector wages must be reviewed and adjusted in line with inflation to prevent the erosion of purchasing power. Workers should not be left to suffer under the weight of devaluation without compensation.

We need transparency in the Gold-Backing mechanism. What is the current state of the purported gold-backing of the ZiG currency? Gold prices are increasing globally, yet the ZiG has devalued by 43%. This raises serious concerns about the effectiveness of the gold-backing mechanism.

Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe must provide:

???? ???????????? ?? ???? ????????

The public deserves to know the true state of the gold reserves, how they are managed, and whether they are sufficient to support the currency.

????????????? ?? ??? ????????’? ???? ?? ????

If the currency is genuinely backed by gold, why is it not reflecting global gold price trends? A clearer, more stringent framework linking the currency to gold must be put in place to restore market confidence.

????????????? ???????? ???????

This currency devaluation is a wake-up call for broader economic reform. Monetary policy must focus on stabilizing the currency and addressing the underlying factors driving inflation. This should include:

  • ????????? ??? ???????? ??????: The Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe must adopt disciplined, transparent monetary policies aimed at stabilizing the currency, controlling inflation, and managing public debt.
  • ????????????? ?????? ???????????????: Zimbabwe must capitalize on a weaker currency to boost exports, particularly in agriculture and mining. Simultaneously, investment in local production must be prioritized to reduce reliance on costly imports.
  • ????????? ?????? ??????????: The government must curb unnecessary spending and reduce the fiscal deficit, which is a significant driver of currency instability.

???????? ?????? ?????????? ??????? ???????????? ??? ??????????????

The devaluation has eroded public trust in the economy, but this trust can be rebuilt through transparency and active engagement with citizens. Labour Economists and Afrikan Democrats call on the government to:

  • Engage the public in policy-making. Create open dialogues with citizens, businesses, and labour unions to ensure collective input on decisions impacting the economy.
  • Establish public-private partnerships. Partner with the private sector to stabilize key industries and improve supply chains, which can help reduce inflation and provide long-term stability.

??????????? ??? ????????

To ensure the long-term stability of the ZiG currency, immediate measures must be taken:

  • to tighten foreign exchange controls and to strengthen regulations to control capital flight and ensure that foreign currency reserves are efficiently managed.

Labour Economists and Afrikan Democrats believe that the devaluation of the ZiG currency is a critical issue that demands a swift and thoughtful response. The livelihoods of millions of Zimbabweans are at stake, and we can not afford to take a wait-and-see approach. Immediate social protections, economic reforms, and transparency in monetary policy are essential to mitigate the negative impacts and restore stability.

We urge the government to act swiftly, with the welfare of Zimbabwe’s citizens at the forefront of its agenda. Labour Economists and Afrikan Democrats remain ready to collaborate with all stakeholders to find solutions that ensure a stable, prosperous, and equitable future for all Zimbabweans.

Chamisa Salutes Citizens Loyalty

By Tinashe Sambiri

In a powerful address on Friday, Advocate Nelson Chamisa expressed his heartfelt appreciation for the unwavering loyalty and resilience of Zimbabweans in the face of ongoing persecution by the Zanu PF regime. His remarks resonated deeply with supporters, highlighting the collective strength of citizens from all walks of life.

Chamisa began by acknowledging the dedication of his fellow citizens, stating, “I’m so heartened by your support and loyalty.”

This sentiment underscores a growing solidarity among Zimbabweans, who remain steadfast despite the oppressive tactics employed by the ruling party.

Throughout his address, Chamisa emphasized that Zimbabweans—young and old—are “undeterred and unshaken by the oppressors’ tactics, sideshows and tomfoolery.”

This resilience, he noted, is a testament to the strength of the Zimbabwean spirit and the determination to strive for a better future.

His gratitude extended beyond mere words, as he passionately declared, “Thank you Zimbabwe. You are very clear.

I love you! God bless you!!” This declaration of love and hope is particularly significant in a time when many citizens face intimidation and repression.

Chamisa’s remarks resonate within a broader context of political struggle in Zimbabwe, where citizens have endured various forms of harassment and violence for standing up for their rights.

Yet, the unwavering support from the public, as highlighted by Chamisa, serves as a beacon of hope for those seeking change.

As the political landscape continues to evolve, Chamisa’s words remind us of the power of unity and resilience in the fight for democracy and justice.

His call for solidarity resonates strongly, reinforcing the idea that the will of the people is paramount in the pursuit of a brighter future for Zimbabwe.

Mnangagwa Targets Social Media Critics

By A Correspondent

In a striking escalation of governmental control over public discourse, President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s administration has issued stern warnings against citizens who criticize the regime on social media.

This move is seen as part of a broader effort to stifle dissent in Zimbabwe, where freedom of expression has increasingly come under threat.

On Friday, government spokesperson Nick Mangwana made a pointed statement addressing online criticism. He asked, “ARE YOU ONE OF THOSE CYBERBULLYING THE CDE?”—a reference to the ruling party and its leadership. This rhetorical question underscores the administration’s perception of social media criticism as a form of harassment.

The administration has cited Section 164B of the Cyber and Data Protection Act Cap 12:07, which outlines severe penalties for individuals who use online platforms to intimidate or harm others.

According to this section, “Any person who unlawfully and intentionally… generates and sends any data message… with the intent to coerce, intimidate, harass, threaten, bully or cause substantial emotional distress… shall be guilty of an offence and liable to a fine not exceeding Level 10 or to imprisonment for a period not exceeding 10 years.”

The potential implications of this legislation are alarming. Critics argue that such laws can be weaponized against opposition voices, further curtailing free speech. As dissent becomes increasingly criminalized, many citizens are left grappling with the fear of prosecution for simply expressing their views.

This latest crackdown comes at a time when political tensions in Zimbabwe are high, and public dissatisfaction with the government is palpable. Many observers are concerned that these measures are intended to suppress any challenge to the ruling party ahead of upcoming elections.

As the regime tightens its grip, the question remains: will citizens be silenced,

Nurse Bashed At Night Club

By A Correspondent

A dramatic incident unfolded at a Bulawayo nightclub when Mellisa Ncube, a 27-year-old nurse, was brutally beaten by Angel Mpofu, 30, after allegedly getting cozy with Mpofu’s lover, Allan.

The evening started with Ncube enjoying drinks with friends, but took a dark turn when Mpofu spotted her chatting with Allan.

Overcome with anger, Mpofu allegedly slapped Ncube multiple times and kicked her, leaving her unconscious on the floor.

Patrons intervened to restrain Mpofu, while nightclub bouncers stepped in to separate the two women and lock Mpofu in a room. Ncube was left with severe injuries, including a swollen face and bleeding wounds.

The incident was reported to the police, leading to Mpofu’s arrest.

She appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Challenge Mahembe and was granted bail until September 30.

How Safe Are Mnangagwa’s Air Ambulances?

By A Correspondent

In the wake of President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s recent plane crash in Masvingo, concerns about the safety of helicopters donated to Mpilo Central and United Bulawayo Hospitals have surfaced. While the government heralds the launch of air ambulance services as a significant advancement for healthcare in Bulawayo, skepticism looms regarding the reliability of the aircraft involved.

The air ambulance service, intended to provide critical medical transport for individuals within a 200-kilometre radius, is being scrutinized in light of the recent aviation incident. Critics argue that if the helicopters meant for emergency medical services are not adequately vetted and maintained, the very purpose of improving healthcare accessibility could be undermined.

Hospital officials and government representatives have emphasized the positive impact these services could have on emergency medical response times. However, the lack of transparency regarding the maintenance records and safety protocols for the donated helicopters raises valid concerns among the public and healthcare professionals alike.

As Bulawayo celebrates what is being described as a new era for health services, the necessity for rigorous safety assessments and operational oversight has never been clearer. Without addressing these critical safety issues, the initiative may face significant challenges in gaining the trust of the community it aims to serve.

UK: Douglas Mwonzora Nearly Arrested After Abusing Premier Inn Hotel Female Staff Members | BREAKING

By A Correspondent | ZimEye | MDC renegade leader, Douglas Mwonzora has been banned from a Premier Inn hotel in Oxford after arriving disorderly and repeatedly harassing two female staff members at 3am on Saturday.

The disturbing events went on for over 1 and half hours.

An aggressive Mwonzora arrived at the premises at Banbury, Oxford to plead for a room, but then started racially screaming at the two staff members serving him saying they cannot speak English properly.

“Why is it that none of you here can speak proper English?,” the Zimbabwean politician currently on his last 48 hours in UK distressed the uniformed ladies assisting him, saying.

He spoke to them as he asked for a roof over his head for the short night while on his way to Manchester Airport.

The two women who though not British natives were communicating with customers well without any misunderstanding whatsoever till the moment Mwonzora arrived.

The politician who also boasted to them saying that he now owns a dairy farm producing 12,000 litres of milk per day acquired after ransacking Nelson Chamisa’s party, failed to pay for his hotel room as his bank (First Capital Visa) card repeatedly declined payment.

“There’s no way my card can fail, I have a lot of money in this account, I own a dairy farm producing 12,000 litres per day, which is run by my son, junior, who unlike @Berthamwonzora , is very quiet,” he emphasised to the staff members before telling them to try again to take payment.

Having failed to pay, Mwonzora was saved by Simba Chikanza the latter who used his card to pay for two rooms, his and Mwonzora’s. The MDC coup leader then swiftly paced upstairs to take over Chikanza’s room, before staff had finalised their payments.

In no time at all, an ungrateful Mwonzora descended to the reception area to once again harass staff saying he does not want to see his Good Samaritan, Chikanza, in his room.

He returned again the third time to scream at them, shortly before a staff member told him he will have to be evicted if he continues being a nuisance.

Pacing around aggressively at the staff members

ZimEye’s @schikanza had to apologise to annoyed staff members, just as two British clients screamed out at Mwonzora in disgust.

They were almost calling British Police officers to assist them evict Senator Mwonzora.

Turning back again aggressively

“I don’t want him in my room, I don’t want anybody in my room, “ Mwonzora said.

‘It’s not our problem,’ a staffer replied him referring to Chikanza’s room Mwonzora was claiming.

“Can you please lock my room,” Mwonzora demanded to the laughter of the two ladies. ‘Well, we understand you, if someone should leave, it’s going to be you,’ the staffer stressed to him.

Mwonzora who violently reduced the opposition party’s political power and seized @nelsonchamisa’s bank accounts and the party’s Harvest Building in 2020 using the ZDF military (on the corrupt advice of controversial political activist @daddyhope Hopewell Chin’ono ),
was wearing an official @UKLabour party red jacket, with which he boasted to the Premier Inn staff saying he is an important person who needs special security officers to protect himself from Chikanza, the same person who paid for his hotel stay.

Military moves to dispossess Nelson Chamisa, civil society on advice of Hopewell Chin’ono

The Labour Party is still to explain how they prohibit groups like Hamas and yet allow the Mwonzoras into their meetings.

Mwonzora has been attending the labour conference which the leader @Keir_Starmer has allowed him entrance despite his illegal occupation of opposition property and the abuse of the military which is costing the UK public millions of pounds in aid money to Zimbabwe.

The Labour Party is still to comment how they continue to allow Mwonzora into their programs when his lawlessness is so apparent that it has been condemned by the @IPUparliament and other institutions.

Mwonzora later on fled from the hotel before the staff had completed their paperwork to report him for racial abuse, and at 10am a manager at @premierinn complained to @schikanza saying, “that man @DMwonzora will not be allowed back into the hotel.” The assumption at the time had been that Mwonzora is a colleague of Chikanza’s unbeknown to the early morning shift staffer that he is a high profile politician, lawyer and UK Labour Party delegate.

(The development comes just as the destroying of Chamisa’s party using the military in the period 2018-2024 is what has led the ministry of Defence’s unofficial advisor the Daddy character, Hopewell Chin’ono to boast in August 2024 that he is now more popular than both Chamisa and Emmerson Mnangagwa put together, dashing the hopes of millions of voters and diasporans who’ve been seeking political change in their home country) through normal means.

Meanwhile, First Capital Bank @FirstCapitalZim is still to comment on why their client, Mwonzora’s card failed to transact.

Throughout the night, the Senator caused more chaos when he transversed various train stations, and at one time, a missing person emergency alert was raised at Reading station, after as the Senator roamed around searching for where to buy beer.

As he is still in UK, Mwonzora now faces arrest for several offences which can have a historic impact on the future of Zimbabwe’s politics.

The drama Mwonzora caused exposed by ZimEye is part of several events involving key people behind the destruction of parliamentary democracy (him, Speaker Of Parliament Jacob Mudenda, and state agent Sengezo Tshabangu) who once arrested outside Zimbabwe, their apprehension can trigger real change in Zimbabwe, and legal experts who have filed for the successful prosecution of sitting govt officials including the Prince Of Bahrain, cabinet ministers of Sri Lanka, have made a case for the single button that Zimbabweans can press. One of these buttons Zimbabweans pressed helped push the then president of Zambia Edgar Lungu out of power on 13 Aug 2021, while LIVE on the ZimEye news network.

The exposure of Mwonzora follows several others before: of Jacob Mudenda at the Inn Hotel, Serbia on 13 October 2019, of President Edgar Lungu on 13 Aug 2021, of First Lady Auxillia Mnangagwa on 15 May 2022, and of Sengezo Tshabangu on 4 Dec 2023.

As Premier Inn staff seek justice against Mwonzora over the racial harassment they endured , Zimbabweans like @Cde_Wombe
who’ve suffered torture as Mwonzora took over Chamisa’s properties, could get him arrested before he flies back to Zimbabwe on Saturday night.- THIS IS A DEVELOPING STORY – ZIMEYE

Honoring the Vision of Oliver Mtukudzi, Empowering His Legacy, and Nurturing the Future of His Children

Introduction

The legendary Oliver “Tuku” Mtukudzi left an indelible mark on the world through his music, philanthropy, and dedication to empowering communities. His greatest desire was to see the family remain united and his legacy continue to support not only his children but future generations. However, in the wake of his passing, family tensions and misunderstandings have left this vision fragmented, and we believe it’s time to restore the harmony Tuku so deeply valued.

We are reaching out to you today to support a noble cause—the creation of “The New Pakare Paya Centre.” This new space, founded by Selmor and Sandra Mtukudzi, will serve as a beacon of unity, providing opportunities and resources for all of Oliver Mtukudzi’s children—including Daisy Mtukudzi’s offspring—as co-owners. In doing so, we aim to revive Tuku’s legacy and reprimand the spirit of selfishness that has sown division within the family.

The Vision: The New Pakare Paya Centre

The original Pakare Paya Centre was established by Oliver Mtukudzi as a cultural hub dedicated to nurturing talent and giving back to the community. It was a place of learning, creativity, and family. The New Pakare Paya Centre will expand on this vision, becoming a center for artistic expression, entrepreneurship, and skills development, accessible to all the Mtukudzi children and the community at large. This project will emphasize unity and family co-ownership, ensuring every member of the Mtukudzi legacy can benefit equally.

Why We Need Your Support

We believe this initiative is more than a family matter—it’s a community cause. Oliver Mtukudzi gave so much to the world, and it’s our turn to give back by supporting his daughters, Selmor and Sandra, in carrying forward his dream. However, this vision cannot be realized without external support. The family needs the resources to establish a new center that reflects Tuku’s passion and the inclusiveness that he valued.

Your contributions will go toward:

  • Acquiring land and constructing The New Pakare Paya Centre, a state-of-the-art facility for arts, culture, and education.
  • Building a shareholding structure that includes all of Oliver Mtukudzi’s children, ensuring each one has a stake in this legacy.
  • Establishing programs that benefit the local community and foster the artistic and entrepreneurial growth that Oliver Mtukudzi championed.

Why Co-ownership Matters

A key focus of this project is establishing a structure where all of Oliver Mtukudzi’s children—including those of Daisy Mtukudzi—become shareholders in the New Pakare Paya Centre. This is a critical step in ensuring that the center represents a unified family vision and functions as a legacy for all of Tuku’s offspring, not just a select few.

This approach will also act as a powerful message against selfishness and division, embodying the spirit of Ubuntu—a philosophy Oliver Mtukudzi held dear.

What You Can Do

We are appealing to Tuku’s fans, friends, and well-wishers from all corners of the globe to come together and support this cause. By contributing to this GoFundMe campaign, you will not only be helping to create a tangible legacy but also reinforcing the values of unity and family that Oliver Mtukudzi stood for.

With your support, we can make The New Pakare Paya Centre a reality and provide a platform where the Mtukudzi children can thrive together, united under their father’s incredible legacy.

Final Thoughts

Oliver Mtukudzi was more than a musician—he was a symbol of unity, community, and love. While we cannot reverse past misunderstandings, we can move forward by creating a shared future, one that reflects his vision of inclusiveness. Help us support Selmor and Sandra Mtukudzi as they seek to realize this dream, and in doing so, contribute to a legacy that will endure for generations to come.

Thank you for your generous support in helping to establish “The New Pakare Paya Centre”—a gift of unity, talent, and hope for the future.

In the words of Tuku himself, “We need each other. We cannot make it alone. One hand cannot clap.” Let’s bring our hands together to build something beautiful for the next generation.

Chiwenga Signals Openness To Collaboration With Chamisa

By Political Reporter – Zanu PF Vice President Constantino Chiwenga has signalled a potential shift in Zimbabwe’s political landscape by hinting at his willingness to work with the opposition, sparking fresh speculation about his power struggle with President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

Chiwenga, who is expected to succeed Mnangagwa as Zanu PF’s leader and presidential candidate in the 2028 elections, made these remarks during the commissioning of Regina Ceoli Mission Primary School in Nyamaropa, Nyanga, earlier this week.

Speaking at the event, Chiwenga emphasized the importance of inclusivity in government projects and aid distribution, particularly in light of the ongoing drought crisis gripping the Southern African region.

“Our country, like other members of the SADC region, is suffering from the effects of El Niño-induced drought. It was a poor farming season, and families were unable to harvest anything meaningful. Therefore, our President, His Excellency, Cde Emmerson Mnangagwa, has declared that no one will starve,” said Chiwenga.

In a move seen as a potential olive branch to opposition supporters, Chiwenga stressed the need for apolitical food aid distribution.

“As we distribute food aid, there should be no discrimination along political lines. This process must be transparent, and every Zimbabwean must benefit,” he added.

He also revealed that the government is expanding cash transfer programs to reach those left out during initial beneficiary registration, particularly in urban and rural areas.

Chiwenga’s remarks come amid persistent power struggles between him and Mnangagwa, who have shared a tense relationship since their joint effort in ousting long-time ruler Robert Mugabe in 2017.

While Mnangagwa consolidated power after the coup, Chiwenga, the former army general who played a pivotal role in Mugabe’s removal, has long been viewed as a rival within Zanu PF, with growing speculation that he is positioning himself to challenge Mnangagwa’s authority.

Adding another layer to this political intrigue, sources within the opposition suggest that Nelson Chamisa, leader of the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC), has expressed a greater willingness to work with Chiwenga than with Mnangagwa.

Chamisa, who has been the face of the opposition since his contested defeat in the 2018 elections, reportedly sees Chiwenga as a more pragmatic and less entrenched figure within the ruling party’s hardliner circles.

This growing alignment between Chiwenga and Chamisa could signal a potential reshaping of Zimbabwe’s political alliances as both leaders look to solidify their power bases ahead of the 2028 elections.

For now, Chiwenga’s public comments about working with the opposition have fueled further speculation about his political strategy as he continues to navigate the internal power dynamics within Zanu PF while positioning himself as a future leader of the country.

Mnangagwa Vows to Crush Social Media Criticism

As the regime tightens its grip, the question remains: will citizens be silenced?

What Is Aggressive Behaviour In Driving?

Driving is a critical skill that combines technical knowledge, awareness, and responsibility.

A good driver not only masters the mechanics of operating a vehicle but also embraces habits and attitudes that contribute to safety on the road.

Here, we explore the essential characteristics of a good driver and how these traits help in reducing accidents.

Key Characteristics of a Good Driver

  1. Defensive Driving Skills
Good drivers adopt a defensive driving approach, anticipating potential hazards and the actions of other road users. They maintain a safe following distance, are aware of their surroundings, and react appropriately to unexpected situations. This proactive mindset significantly reduces the likelihood of collisions.
  2. Strong Focus and Attention
Concentration is paramount for safe driving. Good drivers avoid distractions, such as mobile phones and loud music, allowing them to remain fully engaged with the driving environment.

This heightened awareness helps them recognize and respond to changing conditions on the road.

  1. Patience and Calmness
Patience is a vital trait for a good driver. Traffic can be frustrating, but remaining calm helps in making sound decisions, especially in stressful situations. Aggressive driving behaviors, such as tailgating or weaving through traffic, increase the risk of accidents.
  2. Knowledge of Traffic Laws
A good driver is well-versed in traffic regulations and understands the importance of obeying speed limits, traffic signals, and road signs. Adhering to these laws not only promotes individual safety but also fosters a safer environment for all road users.
  3. Good Judgment and Decision-Making
Sound judgment involves assessing risks and making informed decisions quickly. Good drivers evaluate situations, such as weather conditions and the behavior of other drivers, to choose the safest course of action, whether it’s when to overtake or when to yield.
  4. Adaptability
Conditions on the road can change rapidly due to weather, construction, or accidents. A good driver adapts their driving style accordingly, whether that means reducing speed in rain or being extra cautious in construction zones.
  5. Empathy and Awareness of Others
Understanding the needs and behaviors of other road users, including pedestrians, cyclists, and motorcyclists, is crucial. A good driver respects the rights of others and anticipates their movements, which helps prevent accidents.

Reducing Accidents Through Good Driving Practices

The implementation of the characteristics of a good driver can lead to a significant reduction in traffic accidents. Here’s how:

  • Education and Training: Comprehensive driver education programs that emphasize defensive driving techniques can instill these characteristics in new drivers, leading to safer driving practices.
  • Public Awareness Campaigns: Campaigns that promote safe driving behaviors, such as the dangers of distracted driving or the importance of seatbelt use, can influence driver attitudes and behaviors.
  • Regular Vehicle Maintenance: Good drivers take responsibility for their vehicles by ensuring they are well-maintained. Regular checks of brakes, tires, and lights can prevent mechanical failures that lead to accidents.
  • Community Engagement: Involvement in community initiatives focused on road safety, such as local workshops or volunteering for driving safety organizations, can foster a culture of responsible driving.

The characteristics of a good driver extend beyond mere technical skills; they encompass a mindset that prioritizes safety, responsibility, and respect for others on the road. By cultivating these traits and promoting safe driving practices, we can significantly reduce accidents and create a safer driving environment for everyone.

As road users, we share the responsibility to uphold these values for the benefit of our communities and the well-being of all.

Mnangagwa Tightens Grip On Social Media

As the regime tightens its grip, the question remains: will citizens be silenced?

Nelson Chamisa Salutes Citizens’ Loyalty Amid Persecution

Chamisa Hints At Grand Coalition Project

By Political Reporter- Zimbabwe’s most celebrated opposition leader, Nelson Chamisa, has signalled a return to national politics with the potential formation of a grand coalition.

This bold move could reshape the political landscape ahead of the 2028 elections.

Chamisa, renowned for his charisma and ability to connect with the youth, has been a consistent force in Zimbabwean politics, despite facing electoral defeats in 2018 and 2023 against President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

His campaign promises of democratic reform and economic revitalization have resonated deeply with many Zimbabweans frustrated by the country’s prolonged economic hardships.

In a recent interview with The Zimbabwe Independent, Chamisa outlined plans for a new governance model that he described as a significant departure from traditional opposition politics.

This comes after months of speculation about his next move following his resignation from the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) in January, citing Zanu PF infiltration within the party.

Chamisa’s sudden departure left his supporters in a state of uncertainty while fueling speculation among his political rivals.

Despite stepping away from party politics, Chamisa remains committed to a vision of inclusive governance. “The first thing we have to fix is the politics,” he told The Independent. “And that we will fix before 2028. We fix politics by making sure we have a governance framework for everyone.”

Chamisa envisions a government that accommodates diverse perspectives, bridging divides between political affiliations.“Those in Zanu PF are Zimbabwean, and those in other political parties are Zimbabwean. We must have a conversation, not just a conversation but a synthesis,” he explained. “There is a thesis—the dominant opinion—and an antithesis—the alternative opinion. But the government must be a synthesis, combining both.”

Chamisa has long argued that Zimbabwe’s stagnation stems from a lack of unity and an inability to integrate differing views for national progress.

His call for a “melting pot” government reflects his broader goal of building a Zimbabwe where cooperation and dialogue replace divisive political rivalries.

“This is not a zero-sum game,” he emphasized. “You don’t win by taking the whole house. You ask others because they may have better ideas on how to run the country, and they can contribute.”

Chamisa’s blueprint for Zimbabwe’s revival extends beyond politics.

He detailed plans for an ambitious manpower and industrial development strategy, aimed at leveraging Zimbabwe’suntapped economic potential. “We need proper manpower planning and industrial expansion,” he said, highlighting the need for a clear focus on industries that can be “cash cows” for the nation.

His vision includes identifying quick wins in key sectors to create jobs and expand markets, both domestically and internationally. “What can we produce? What can we export? What products are required internationally that we can leverage? This is the model for a rapid, accelerated transformation of the economy,” Chamisa added.

A central pillar of his proposed governance structure is the creation of a Citizens Affairs Department dedicated to addressing public grievances and conducting regular citizen satisfaction surveys. “There will be a department designed just to deal with citizen grievances,” he said. “All citizen queries, anxieties, and hopes will be answered there.”

Chamisa’s focus on the well-being of citizens from birth to adulthood is another hallmark of his governance philosophy.

He envisions a future where every Zimbabwean child has guaranteed access to education, employment, and social welfare. “From day one, when a child is born, we must know that we need a job for this child, education, social welfare, ownership, and resources,” he said.

His vision also includes radical reforms to the education system. Chamisa proposed removing the president’s control over universities, allowing these institutions to be run autonomously by professionals and industry experts.

“This business of having the president preside over graduations is antiquated. Universities must be independent, and run by professionals,” Chamisa asserted.

His call for greater autonomy in higher education extends to inviting distinguished figures from industry, academia, and even prominent international leaders to take part in graduation ceremonies—a departure from the current practice where the president plays a central role. “The president can’t be everything, from being the chancellor of universities to the patron of charity clubs. It’s time to leave that to others.”

Chamisa’s bold plans for governance and development mark him as a politician determined to reshape Zimbabwe’sfuture.

With the potential for a grand coalition on the horizon, the opposition leader’s vision for a more inclusive, prosperous nation may become a defining feature of Zimbabwean politics in the years to come.

Soldiers All Over Lupane

By Political Reporter-Villagers in Lupane’s Tshongogwe in Matabeleland North are gripped by fear after a sudden and unexplained deployment of a large contingent of soldiers, a development reminiscent of the November 2017 coup that ousted longtime President Robert Mugabe.

The sight of troops and military vehicles patrolling the rural area has sparked widespread speculation, leading to concerns over the possibility of another power struggle within Zimbabwe’s military and political circles.

Eyewitnesses reported seeing soldiers stationed at key locations, including Mabhunu shops, eDibha, and eGuswini, while others patrolled the surrounding bushlands.

“I’m from Tshongogwe but work in Victoria Falls. My family called to inform me that soldiers had been deployed in the area,” said one local resident, still unsure about the purpose of the military presence. “We don’t know what they are looking for.”

Another villager confirmed witnessing soldiers roaming the area, heightening fears that the peaceful community might be caught up in a larger conflict.

“A group of soldiers asked us yesterday if the road they were on led to the main bus route in Mabhunu,” a third villager shared. “We also heard gunshots near eDibheni.”
Several villagers expressed concerns about the soldiers’ heavy armaments. “The soldiers are carrying big guns, and people are scared,” said one resident.

In response to the growing alarm, Zimbabwe National Army Director of Public Relations, Colonel Alphios Makotore, moved to dispel any fears of a political upheaval, clarifying that the troop deployment was part of a planned training exercise.

“Troops from the 1 Infantry Brigade were deployed to Lupane for a field training exercise running from September 19 to 26, 2024,” he explained, adding that local authorities and traditional leaders had been notified in advance.

However, despite this reassurance, the military’s surprise appearance in the rural district has revived memories of the events leading to the 2017 military coup.

During that coup, soldiers and tanks were seen deployed in Harare without notice, as the military moved to topple Mugabe after nearly four decades in power.

In the days leading up to Mugabe’s eventual resignation, military presence across the capital was widespread, with tanks positioned at strategic locations and troops patrolling the streets.

The November 2017 coup was marked by a seamless operation, with the military claiming they were targeting “criminals” around Mugabe.

The takeover led to a swift transition, with then-Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa being installed as president.

While the military insisted it wasn’t a coup, the events were widely regarded as a military intervention to resolve a bitter power struggle within the ruling ZANU-PF party.

As Lupane residents grapple with the sudden appearance of soldiers, many are left wondering if this is simply a training exercise or if there is a larger story behind the scenes, with echoes of Zimbabwe’s past coups lingering in the air.

Mnangagwa Clinic Officially Commissioned

In a notable event that has sparked both support and criticism, the Emmerson Mnangagwa Shokoni Clinic was officially commissioned in Chivi, Masvingo Province. The ceremony was led by the Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Honorable Ezra Chadzamira, who represented Vice President Kembo Mohadi.

The clinic, constructed by philanthropist Jimayi Muduvuri, aims to provide free medical services to marginalized groups, including people with disabilities, the elderly, and veterans of Zimbabwe’s liberation struggle. While the intention behind the clinic is commendable, the choice to name it after President Emmerson Mnangagwa has raised eyebrows and ignited discussions about the appropriateness of such dedications.

Supporters of the initiative argue that the naming serves to recognize the president’s contributions to the country.

Son Assaults Own Mum

A Karoi man has been sentenced to six (6) months in prison for assaulting his biological mother. The Karoi Magistrates’ Court found the man guilty of contravening the domestic violence legislation following an incident that occurred on September 4th.

According to court documents, the confrontation began when the accused asked his mother for money. Upon her refusal, the dispute escalated rapidly, culminating in the son assaulting his mother with clenched fists and booted feet. The assault resulted in significant injuries to the complainant, which were detailed in the police report that led to the man’s arrest.

The severity of the injuries and the breach of family trust weighed heavily in the court’s decision, resulting in a six-month imprisonment sentence for the accused, emphasizing the legal consequences of domestic violence.

In response to the incident and the court’s ruling, the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe has issued a statement urging the public to desist from violence. They encourage individuals to resolve disputes amicably or seek third-party mediation to prevent such occurrences.

This case has highlighted ongoing concerns about domestic violence in Zimbabwe and the need for effective mechanisms to prevent it and protect vulnerable individuals within family units.

Tshabangu Calls For Removal Of US Dollar

By A Correspondent

Senator Sengezo Tshabangu, the controversial interim Secretary General of the Citizens Coalition for Change, has sparked significant debate by advocating for Zimbabwe to adopt the troubled ZiG as its official currency.

Tshabangu’s actions have raised eyebrows, with some suggesting he’s trying to ingratiate himself with Zanu PF, despite his assertions of being an opposition leader.

On Thursday Tshabangu said:“Patriotism is loving your country wholeheartedly,” he asserted.

“Anyone who undermines or sabotages efforts by the @ZimTreasury to have our own currency must be treated as an enemy.

Yes, we might differ in political principles, but in anything that benefits the nation, we must cooperate.”

Tshabangu’s comments raise questions about the viability of the ZiG, especially given the current economic challenges facing Zimbabwe. His call to prioritize national currency over the US dollar has drawn mixed reactions from both supporters and critics.

As the debate continues, the implications of such a shift could have significant consequences for the nation’s economy and its future direction.

The encounter was marred by crowd trouble when the supporters of the two clubs clashed at the terraces, causing a five-minute stoppage.

A statement by the PSL reads: “The Premier Soccer League has fined both Simba Bhora FC and Highlanders FC a sum of $6,000 each, following incidents of missile throwing and violence that occurred during their Chibuku Super Cup quarter final match played at Wadzanayi Stadium on Sunday, 22 September 2024.

“Clubs are reminded of their responsibility to ensure the safety and conduct of their fans at all times.”

Highlanders are also facing other charges related to the abandonment of the encounter after their players and the technical staff walked away in protest over referee’s decision to award a penalty to Simba Bhora in second half.

Peter Muduhwa and substitute Tinashe Balakasi collided outside the box but the striker threw himself into the box, deceiving the referee in the process.

Young Warriors Coach Speaks On Draw With Botswana

Zimbabwe U20 national team coach Simon Marange has pointed out the lapse in concentration as the main factor that affected his side in 1-1 draw against Botswana.

The Young Warriors faced the Young Zebras in the opening game of the Afcon U20 COSAFA Qualifier Group A on Thursday.

Zimbabwe took the lead in the first half through Enock Moyo, but the advantage was cancelled out by Phillip Kaku later in the second half.

Speaking after the match, Marange said: “There was a moment we were in total control and moments where we lost concentration when we needed to take chances and put the game out of reach for Botswana.

“But nothing much went wrong. We tried to bring in some freshness in wide areas to keep the intensity but we didn’t get results out of that and we kept inviting pressure where we lost concentration with a bit of tiredness but it’s something we will look at.”

Zimbabwe will play Eswatini in their second match on 28 September.

Coup Rumours As Soldiers Flock Lupane

By Political Reporter-In an alarming development reminiscent of the November 2017 coup that ousted longtime President Robert Mugabe, Lupane’s Tshongogwe villagers in Matabeleland North were gripped by fear after a sudden and unexplained deployment of a large contingent of soldiers.

ZiG Finally Collapses

By Business Reporter- In a move that shocked many, the Central bank has devalued ZiG by 44% against the US dollar, setting the new exchange rate at 24.3 ZiG per US dollar, compared to the earlier official rate of 14.1 ZiG.

The Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe devalued the so-called gold-backed currency initially touted as a stable alternative to the volatile Zimbabwean dollar.

While the RBZ had repeatedly insisted that gold reserves and immune to depreciation secured ZiG, the currency’s rapid loss of value has left many questioning its credibility.

On the parallel market, the currency is trading at an even lower rate, around 28 ZiG per dollar, further widening the gap between official and unofficial rates.

This devaluation will have significant ripple effects on Zimbabwe’s already struggling economy, with businesses facing increased costs and consumers bracing for higher prices on goods and services.

Civil servants, who receive part of their salaries in ZiG, will likely feel the brunt of this economic shift as their purchasing power diminishes even further.

The collapse of ZiG is symptomatic of Zimbabwe’s broader economic crisis, which has deepened since the early 2000s.

The country has faced severe hyperinflation, a crumbling currency, and shrinking industrial output, all of which have pushed millions into poverty.

The government’s attempts to introduce alternatives like ZiG were seen as desperate measures to stabilize the economy without addressing the underlying issues.

Zimbabwe’s economic troubles can be traced back to a series of poor policy decisions, including the land reform program, which crippled agricultural production—the backbone of the economy.

The subsequent loss of agricultural exports, particularly tobacco, drastically reduced the inflow of foreign currency.

Sanctions and isolation from international financial institutions further exacerbated the crisis.

To pull the country out of its current quagmire, experts argue that Zimbabwe must address its economic fundamentals.

Boosting domestic production, particularly in agriculture and mining, is critical.

Increased exports will help generate much-needed foreign currency.

Furthermore, the country needs to create a favorable environment for foreign direct investment (FDI).

Zimbabwe has struggled to attract significant FDI due to inconsistent policies, high levels of corruption, and a lack of investor confidence.

Economic reforms that guarantee policy stability, alongside fiscal and monetary discipline, are essential.

Equally important is the respect for the rule of law, including property rights and judicial independence.

Investors are hesitant to commit to a country where legal frameworks are inconsistent or perceived as politically driven.

By strengthening governance and combating corruption, Zimbabwe could foster a more predictable and transparent economic environment that encourages both local and foreign investment.

The collapse of ZiG should serve as a wake-up call for the government.

Cosmetic fixes are no longer enough. A comprehensive approach, tackling the core economic problems, is the only way forward.

Daisy And Auxillia

Daisy Mtukudzi and Auxillia Mnangagwa, both significant figures in Zimbabwe’s cultural and political landscapes, have faced various controversies, often due to their prominence and the sensitive roles they occupy.

Daisy Mtukudzi

Daisy Mtukudzi, married to the late legendary musician Oliver Mtukudzi, faced controversies mostly after her husband’s death. One major issue was the management of her late husband’s estate, which included disputes over the inheritance and control of his music legacy. The succession issues often put her at odds with other family members, including her stepdaughter, who publicly voiced their discontent about how the estate was being handled. These family disputes were widely covered in the media, casting a shadow over the legacy of Oliver Mtukudzi.

Auxillia Mnangagwa

Auxillia Mnangagwa, the wife of Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa, has been involved in several controversies, mostly related to her husband’s political activities and her role as the First Lady. She has been criticized for her extravagant spending on travel and luxury goods, which many consider insensitive given Zimbabwe’s economic challenges. Additionally, her involvement in charity work and initiatives, while often seen as beneficial, has been scrutinized for potentially serving as a facade to divert attention from the government’s shortcomings and human rights issues.

Both women, in their respective roles, face the challenge of navigating their public personas in a country where political and social tensions run high. Their activities and the controversies surrounding them reflect broader issues of governance, accountability, and public perception in Zimbabwe.

Marry Mubaiwa Update

By Showbiz Reporter | ZimEye | Marry Mubaiwa’s Health Update: Comfort Dondo Calls for Accurate Reporting Amid False Amputation Rumors

In light of ongoing speculation about Marry Mubaiwa’s deteriorating health, prominent women’s rights advocate Comfort Dondo has stepped forward to clarify details concerning her medical condition. Dondo, a vocal supporter of Mubaiwa and her family, issued a statement on September 26, 2024, addressing viral social media rumors that have misrepresented Mubaiwa’s condition.

Marry Chiwenga on hospital bed

“There are false reports circulating that Marry Mubaiwa has had a third amputation, this time on her other leg. This is not true. The correct and accurate update is that she has been amputated one leg and one arm,” Dondo clarified, referring to the many misleading reports that have emerged in recent weeks.

Mubaiwa, the ex-wife of Zimbabwean Vice-President Constantino Chiwenga, has been battling serious health conditions for several years. Diagnosed with acute lymphoedema and spontaneous abscess formation, her condition has worsened, leading to the amputation of her right arm in September 2022 and her left leg in June 2024

Both amputations were the result of severe infections and complications that made it impossible to save her limbs,Mary Mubaiwa Undergoes Leg Amputation Amid Severe Health Complications. Despite this, Mubaiwa’s condition remains critical, and she continues to be hospitalized in Harare.

The former model’s health struggles have garnered significant public attention, particularly as she remains embroiled in a series of legal battles that have prevented her from seeking specialized treatment abroad. In addition to her health challenges, Mubaiwa is facing charges including attempted murder, stemming from allegations that she tried to harm Chiwenga while he was hospitalized in South Africa in 2019.

These charges have complicated her ability to travel for medical care, further endangering her health.

False Rumors and Public Speculation

In recent days, rumors circulated on social media suggesting that Mubaiwa had undergone another amputation, this time involving her remaining leg. These false reports sparked widespread concern and confusion about her condition, prompting Dondo to call for a more responsible approach to sharing updates on Mubaiwa’s health. “While her situation is dire, it’s important to convey accurate information. Misleading the public only adds to the emotional strain on her family,” Dondo added oai_citation:7,Comfort Dondo: Only Woman Exposing Biti And Standing for Marry Chiwenga Plus Multiple Raped Women Abused By Hopewell Chin’ono – ZimEye.

The public fascination with Mubaiwa’s condition is partly due to her tumultuous relationship with Chiwenga, as well as the high-profile nature of her ongoing legal battles. In 2022, the High Court of Zimbabwe finalized her divorce from Chiwenga, who has since remarried, further complicating her personal circumstances, Marry Mubaiwa’s Health Worsens with Second Amputation Amid Legal Struggles – The Zimbabwe News Live.

Emotional Toll and Restricted Access to Her Children

In addition to her physical suffering, Mubaiwa has also been denied access to her children for over four years, a fact that Dondo highlighted as deeply unfair. “It is a gross injustice that Marry has been unable to see her children for this long. This has taken a severe toll on her mental health,” Dondo said, urging that the issue be addressed as part of her broader rights activism.

Legal and health advocates have raised concerns about the humanitarian aspects of Mubaiwa’s treatment, pointing out that her restricted access to family and medical care violates basic principles of compassion and justice. Her legal team has repeatedly sought permission for her to travel outside Zimbabwe for medical treatment, but these requests have been denied by the courts, citing the charges against her.

Advocacy and Support

As one of Zimbabwe’s leading human rights activists, Comfort Dondo has been at the forefront of advocating for Mubaiwa. In 2022, she became a key figure in raising awareness about Mubaiwa’s deteriorating condition and has since continued to offer support to Mubaiwa’s family throughout these hardships. Dondo’s efforts extend beyond Mubaiwa’s case, as she actively campaigns for women’s rights and works to expose abuses, particularly in politically sensitive cases in Zimbabwe.

Dondo’s recent comments on Marry Mubaiwa’s health, specifically addressing false reports of a third amputation, have been confirmed by Mubaiwa’s family. Speaking to ZimEye, a family representative clarified that Mubaiwa has not undergone any additional surgeries beyond the previously reported amputation of her right arm and left leg. The family emphasized that the viral social media posts claiming a further amputation on her other leg are entirely inaccurate and have caused unnecessary distress to both Mubaiwa and her loved ones.

As Marry Mubaiwa continues her battle against both severe health complications and legal challenges, her case remains a poignant reminder of the intersection of health, human rights, and the legal system in Zimbabwe. Advocates like Dondo are calling for more humane treatment and a resolution that allows Mubaiwa to access the medical care and emotional support she urgently needs.

Marry Mubaiwa’s ongoing struggle has captivated the nation, but recent false reports on her health have exacerbated an already delicate situation. Comfort Dondo’s intervention is a timely reminder of the importance of accurate and responsible reporting, particularly when it involves the life and well-being of individuals in such critical circumstances. While Mubaiwa’s condition remains grave, her supporters continue to advocate for her rights, urging the legal system and public opinion to approach her case with compassion and fairness.- ZimEye

Young Warriors Share Spoils With Botswana

Bosso, Simba Bhora Fined

The Premier Soccer League has hit Simba Bhora and Highlanders with heavy fines following the chaotic scenes that happened during their Chibuku Super Cup quarterfinal clash last weekend.

“These sanctions are in accordance with Order 8.9 of the Chibuku Super Cup Rules and Regulations, which states that failure by a club to exercise control over its fans before, during, and after the match, leading to chaos or violence attracts a fine of $6,000.

The Complicated Life of Daisy Mtukudzi, The Live or Evil National Stepmother?

A Tale of Love, Betrayal, and Revenge
By Shelton Muchena, | Entertainment Reporter | Once upon a time, in the vibrant city of Harare, Zimbabwe, there lived a renowned musician named Oliver Mtukudzi. A man of many talents and a father to six children, Oliver’s seemingly perfect life was, unbeknownst to the world, filled with secrets and deception.

Daisy Mtukudzi with late husband Oliver in London

Daisy Mtukudzi, Oliver’s wife, was not the biological mother of all their children. In fact, she was not even a straight woman. The firstborn, Sandra, had a different mother named Melody. Samantha, the second born, was Daisy’s daughter. Selmor, the third born, also had Melody as her mother. The fourth born, Selby, had an unknown mother. Sam, the fifth born, was Daisy’s son, and the sixth born, Sybel, had yet another unknown mother.

This intricate family tree arose from Oliver’s infidelity, and Daisy’s desperate attempts to keep him by her side. Aware of Oliver’s other children, Daisy chose to stay with him, hoping he would eventually leave them for her.

However, things took a turn for the worse when Daisy realized Oliver would not abandon his children. In a fit of rage and jealousy, she plotted to undermine his relationships with them, spreading rumors about the children’s mothers to turn Oliver against them.

Daisy’s manipulation knew no bounds. She even attempted to convince Oliver to disinherit some of his children, particularly Selmor, a talented musician like her father. Daisy viewed Selmor as a threat to her own children’s future in the music industry.

As the years went by, the tension between Daisy and Oliver’s other children escalated. They sensed that their stepmother was the reason for their father’s growing distance but lacked proof. Meanwhile, Daisy continued her quest for revenge, determined to shatter the bond between Oliver and his children from other mothers.

A recent interview by the popular DJ Ollah Pod cast opened a can of worms on the Daisy’s evilness with netizens calling her ‘the National Step Mother.
The two sisters on the show (Selmor and Sandra) narrated how their stepmother treated them with Sandra at one time forced to eat from the same pots with dogs.
While Daisy has been put on the lime spot for all the bad reasons, questions have been asked on the role the late Icon, Oliver Mtukudzi played in all this drama.

Here is a brief look at Tuku’s marital journey:

Oliver Mtukudzi had children with 4 different women.
Tuku went into Polygamy before he divorced Selmor’s mother. Sandra is first born, daughter to Melody Murape, his first wife,
then he had his second born Samantha with Daisy, and then he had his third born Selmor, again with his first wife, Melody Murape.
After that, he had Selby Mtukudzi, a son with a girlfriend, then Sybil Mtukudzi, a daughter with another girlfriend and
Sam Mtukudzi, with Daisy again.
Tuku got married to Daisy, who already had her child from her previous relationship called Faith
Daisy Mtukudzi forged a will because the family lawyer after Tuku’s death announced there was no will and the process of registering a Trust had not been completed, Daisy put the Norton house in her daughter’s name Samantha after the death of Tuku.
Faith, Daisy’s own daughter from another relationship before she met Tuku, stays at Pakare Paya Arts Centre and is in control.
Sandra inherited her father’s hat only.
Selmor inherited her father’s track bottom only.
Selmor was blocked by Daisy from entering or performing at Pakare Paya Arts Centre for 7 years until a public outcry this year 2024
Sandra and Selmor Mtukudzi learnt about the death of their father through social media when they were on a UK tour.
They tried to verify the news of their father’s death in their family/sisters group, but the sisters, Samantha and Faith, ignored their messages.
Selmor and Sandra are traumatised and are still in pain as they and all Mtukudzi relatives are always excluded

Safety Tips: Characteristics of a Good Driver!

Daisy Loses Tuku War To Nature

When Nature Speaks: A Warning to Step-Parents Who Mistreat Their Stepchildren, as Seen in Sandra Mtukudzi’s Story

By Showbiz Editor | ZimEye | In a world where blended families are increasingly common, the relationships that step-parents build with their stepchildren can be delicate. These relationships are shaped by love, patience, and mutual understanding—or, in some cases, by resentment and neglect. In the story of Oliver Mtukudzi’s daughters, particularly Sandra Mtukudzi’s recent revelations, we are reminded that nature itself has a way of exposing mistreatment, and in this case, it serves as a powerful warning to step-parents.

Daisy Mtukudzi

Sandra’s appearance in a podcast interview with DJ Ollah 7 has sparked a wave of public analysis and introspection. As Sandra spoke candidly about the challenges she and her sister Selmor faced growing up under the care of their stepmother, Daisy Mtukudzi, many viewers couldn’t help but notice something uncanny: Sandra’s striking resemblance to her late father. Her voice, her mannerisms, and even her fashion choices seemed to echo Oliver “Tuku” Mtukudzi’s essence, prompting many to suggest that nature itself was making a bold statement.

One particular comment on social media encapsulated the public sentiment: “Is this why Daisy hated them? Sandra is Tuku’s split image. Then she dresses like Tuku. You could say they all went shopping for clothes.” This remark, made on Ashford Ashbragger Chimombe’s page, highlights a growing belief that Sandra’s mere existence is a reminder of her father’s legacy—a legacy that cannot be erased, even by a stepmother who may have sought to push her into the shadows.

In the interview, Sandra and Selmor painted a heart-wrenching picture of their upbringing. They spoke of the emotional and financial neglect they experienced, the isolation from family events, and the wounds inflicted by exclusion. Sandra’s story of being left out of her father’s new home is particularly poignant. “A few days later, people told me they had seen my father in town… When I went home, it was an empty and sorrowful state,” she recounted. Her words reveal the pain of a child left behind, not just physically but emotionally.

Selmor’s breakdown during her performance at the Pakare Paye Arts Centre only adds to the emotional weight of their narrative. Performing on the stage her father once graced, she could not contain her sorrow at the neglect of the arts hub he built, symbolizing the larger neglect she feels in her family. The fact that she was not initially invited to perform at her father’s commemorative festival further underscored the exclusion she has faced.

The tension between the daughters and Daisy has become a public spectacle, with many taking sides. However, the message from nature—represented so vividly in Sandra’s resemblance to her father—transcends family drama. It is a reminder that no matter how much one may try to erase or marginalize another, nature has a way of speaking the truth.

In this case, nature’s truth is simple: Sandra, like Selmor, is Oliver Mtukudzi’s daughter, with all the rights and recognition that come with that identity. As Sandra’s appearance on DJ Ollah’s show demonstrates, she is a living embodiment of her father’s legacy, something that no amount of resentment or neglect can take away.

Step-parents, especially those struggling to embrace their stepchildren, should heed this warning. Family dynamics are complex, but mistreatment, exclusion, and favoritism are not only damaging to the children involved; they also have a way of backfiring. In Sandra’s case, her very existence, her physical and emotional likeness to her father, serves as a living reminder of the wrongs she has endured. Nature, in its infinite wisdom, has a way of revealing these truths, often in the most striking and unavoidable ways.

Sandra’s call for reconciliation and unity, despite the pain she has suffered, is a testament to her strength. She expressed a willingness to forgive and rebuild, saying, “I am open to dialogue and anything that can unite us as a family.” It is a powerful message for families in similar situations: healing is possible, but it requires acknowledging past wrongs and working towards genuine inclusion.

Ultimately, the saga of the Mtukudzi family serves as a cautionary tale. For step-parents who fail to treat their stepchildren fairly, nature itself may rise up as an advocate for those children, exposing the truth in ways that cannot be ignored. In the case of Sandra and Selmor, the bond they share with their father, Oliver Mtukudzi, remains unbroken, and their presence in his legacy is undeniable—no matter how much others may try to exclude them.

This story isn’t just about one family’s struggles; it’s a universal reminder of the power of nature, the importance of fairness, and the strength of a child’s bond with their parent—even in the face of adversity.

Zanu PF Youth League Boss Claims Nobody Can Beat Mnangagwa In Terms Of Fighting Imperialism

By A Correspondent

Taurai Kandishaya, a prominent official within the Zanu PF Youth League, recently made headlines by declaring President Emmerson Mnangagwa the “Godfather of fighting imperialism.”

His statement comes at a time when Mnangagwa’s credentials as a liberation war figure are being scrutinized within his own party.

In a statement released on Thursday, Kandishaya asserted, “World over, President ED Mnangagwa is the most experienced fighter of imperialism.

He started fighting imperialism at the age of 16; today he is 82, and this translates to 66 years of fighting experience.” He further compared Mnangagwa to historical revolutionary figures, stating, “President ED Mnangagwa is the Fidel Castro of the day given his experience and survival.”

Kandishaya’s remarks highlight a broader narrative within Zanu PF, which seeks to bolster Mnangagwa’s image amid internal divisions.

Some party stalwarts have challenged Mnangagwa’s role in the liberation struggle, suggesting that he was integrated into the movement at the behest of Robert Mugabe rather than as a principal player.

This has led to ongoing debates about the authenticity of his revolutionary credentials.

Kandishaya continued to emphasize the significance of Mnangagwa’s contributions, referring to a book titled “BOOK WITHOUT BORDERS,” which he claims contains life lessons relevant across different contexts.

“I take it not as a biography but a dimension of life to those that are poised to achieve,” he explained, reinforcing the idea that Mnangagwa’s life and strategies can serve as a model for resisting neo-colonialism.

In his closing remarks, Kandishaya pointedly referenced the impact of sanctions, declaring, “#sanctionsarecrimesagainsthumanity,” underscoring the party’s stance that external pressures have undermined Zimbabwe’s sovereignty and development.

As Zanu PF navigates its internal challenges and the legacy of its leaders, Kandishaya’s comments reflect a concerted effort to position Mnangagwa as a seasoned revolutionary figure, despite the ongoing controversies regarding his past.

Whether this portrayal will resonate with the party’s base remains to be seen, as the historical narrative of the liberation struggle continues to evolve within Zimbabwean politics.

Dump US Dollar, Adopt ZiG as Official Currency: Tshabangu

You Are Still Young, Unmarried And No Kids, Selmor Tells Shadaya

By A Correspondent| The daughter to the late iconic musician Oliver Mtukudzi, Selmor has hit back at controversial socialite Shadaya over his recent comment that the Nguva Yangu hitmaker was wrong in focusing on affairs from her family instead of where she is married.

According to Shadaya, Selmor has found herself embroiled in ongoing drama surrounding her father legacy and inheritance, showcasing how bitterness can overshadow a person’s journey.

But responding to Shadaya on the Ollah 7 podcast show, Selmor said the socialite did not understand such issues because he is still single, not married and does not have kids.

“He has no right to comment on this, he is a young boy, he is not married and doesn’t have children, he knows nothing. Dai zvaibvira vamwe vanhu vaingonyarara because tichazovaona vave mu same situation iyoyo in future and have to swallow their words,” said Selmor.

Sandra was even more direct accusing the controversial figure of talking as if he was there when the drama was unfolding.

“Handimuzive hangu iye Shadaya wacho, so ehe Shadaya wanga uripo and uri kudziziva nyaya dzacho , I think ndozvega zvandingangotaura,”said Sandra.

Mtukudzi’s Daughter Reveal How They Ate Sadza With ‘Kwanai’ The Dog

Sandra and Selmor, daughters of the late music icon Oliver Mtukudzi, have opened up about the abuse they suffered from their stepmother, Daisy Mtukudzi, during their childhood. Their revelations followed an emotional moment at the Oliver Mtukudzi International Festival of the Arts at Pakare Paye Arts Centre in Norton, where Selmor broke down on stage during her performance. Initially excluded from the lineup, public outcry led to her inclusion in the event.

Daisy has since responded to the claims, expressing shock and describing Selmor’s breakdown as dramatic and disrespectful. However, Sandra and Selmor’s accounts offer a glimpse into the harsh realities of their upbringing.

In a candid interview on the DJ Ollah 7 podcast, Sandra shared painful memories, including being left out of family activities and even sharing meals with the family dog. She recalled, “We were excluded from everything. From a young age, we were left behind while others went on holiday, only to be told to clean the house before they returned.”

Sandra also described being sidelined during a family party. “We were all invited, and I was excited, but on the day of the event, only Sam and Samantha were allowed to go. I was left behind to do laundry.”

She revealed further mistreatment when it came to meals. “Our dog, Kwanai, would be given sadza, and that’s what I was served too, while others enjoyed rice,” Sandra explained.

In one of the most distressing revelations, Sandra recalled being abandoned in Kwekwe at the age of 16 while the rest of the family secretly relocated to Norton. Both sisters admitted to communicating with their father in secret because Daisy restricted their contact with him.

Their brave confessions have sparked conversations about the emotional scars such experiences can leave, particularly for those in blended families. As the public continues to grapple with these revelations, the spotlight falls on the need for empathy and understanding within family dynamics.

Economist Steve Hanke: Zimbabwe’s Inflation Soars to 880%, Economy “Up in Flames”

By A Correspondent| Renowned U.S.-based economist and currency expert Steve Hanke has stated that Zimbabwe’s annual inflation rate has skyrocketed to 880%, describing the country’s economy as being “up in flames.”

Earlier this year, in April, the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ) introduced the Zimbabwe Gold (ZiG) currency in a bid to replace the rapidly devaluing RTGS and Bond Notes. These currencies had consistently lost value, and efforts to stabilize them had repeatedly failed.

Upon its introduction, the central bank assured the public that the new currency was backed by 2.5 tonnes of gold and reserves of foreign currency. However, just six months later, the ZiG currency has seen a sharp depreciation. It now trades at a staggering ZWG30 to US$1 on the black market, compared to the official interbank rate of ZWG13.95 to US$1.

In response to the growing economic turmoil, the central bank recently announced a series of measures designed to bolster the local currency. This included injecting US$64 million into the Interbank Market in September alone, aimed at reducing excess ZWG liquidity and stabilizing the volatile exchange rate.

Meanwhile, a joint study by the World Bank and the Confederation of Zimbabwe Industries (CZI) revealed that Zimbabwe lost over US$3 billion between 2020 and 2023 due to mismanagement of the exchange rate system.

Commenting on the situation, Hanke said, “Zimbabwe’s money supply (M2) is soaring at 253% per year. As night follows day, today, I accurately measure Zimbabwe’s inflation at a staggering 880% per year. Zimbabwe’s economy = up in flames,” he wrote on his X (formerly Twitter) account on Wednesday.

Adding to the country’s economic woes, major retailers recently warned that they are on the brink of shutting down due to the severe losses incurred under the country’s distorted exchange rate policies.

Mnangagwa Blames “Saboteurs” Over ZiG Collapse

By A Correspondent| Several major retail shops adjusted their exchange rates to ZiG30 per US dollar yesterday as the local currency continued to weaken, just a day after President Emmerson Mnangagwa attributed the decline to economic “saboteurs.”

Some retailers claimed point-of-sale machines were malfunctioning, forcing customers to make payments in US dollars. NewsDay learned that a number of shops delayed opening, adjusting their prices to align with parallel market rates, which now range between ZiG35 and ZiG40 per US dollar.

One prominent supermarket shifted its exchange rate to US$1, while the parallel market rate hovered around US$1.

On Monday, retailers warned that the government’s enforced exchange rate policy was unsustainable, cautioning that basic goods could soon vanish from shelves.

In response to the worsening economic situation, manufacturers and the Confederation of Zimbabwe Industries convened an emergency meeting in Harare yesterday.

The ZiG, launched with much fanfare in April at a rate of US$1.50, has experienced a dramatic fall, despite minimal changes to the official exchange rate.

The currency, purportedly backed by gold and foreign reserves, has plummeted to the extent that pressure is mounting on the government to restore economic stability.

President Mnangagwa, during a Zanu PF politburo meeting on Wednesday, blamed economic detractors for the turmoil.

“Acts of economic sabotage, speculation, and profiteering have no place in our country,” he stated. “These attacks on the economy, aimed at making the public suffer, are unacceptable. My government will protect the ordinary people.”

The Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ) and Treasury officials insist that the ZiG’s struggles are due to speculative activities. The RBZ claims it has injected over US$100 million into the market over the past two months in an effort to stabilize the currency—Zimbabwe’s sixth attempt at a stable currency in over a decade.

Critics, including members of Zanu PF, argue that the RBZ’s currency policies are misguided. In 2019, Mnangagwa reintroduced the Zimbabwean dollar after a decade of dollarization, but it quickly succumbed to inflation and was abandoned earlier this year, replaced by the ZiG.

Zanu PF supporter Kudzai Mutisi criticized the RBZ on X (formerly Twitter), saying, “The economy is not under attack; it is deliberately mismanaged by the RBZ and Treasury officials, likely because they benefit from the chaos they create. Zimbabweans deserve a functioning economy, not this disorder.”

Economist Gift Mugano echoed these concerns, noting that the currency’s collapse was inevitable due to the government’s failure to address underlying economic issues before introducing the ZiG.

“Unlike politics, the economy cannot be manipulated or oppressed,” Mugano said.

Exiled former Cabinet minister Walter Mzembi warned that enforcing a currency on the population without proper political support would lead to failure.

“Nothing will work—whether mono-currency or multi-currency—if the political climate is not conducive,” Mzembi said. “Fiscal indiscipline and the government’s reluctance to use its own currency only add to the problem.”

Political commentator Pedzisayi Ruhanya added that economic policies driven by authoritarianism would not succeed.

“The state’s politics must align with its economic policies,” he said. “Command economics, without democratization and amid corruption, will not solve the nation’s problems.”

Ruhanya called for the government to conduct thorough research to better understand the root causes of local currency failures and how they can be addressed effectively.

A to Z Lessons From Mtukudzi Family Feud From Lawyer Brighton Mutebuka

a. Tuku was in-between relationships when he had his children – meaning that he had children with other women after he married both Melody, Sandra & Selmor‘s mother – and after he married Daisy, his widow – making for a messy & entangled love life.

b. This means that he was prone to infidelity, which is perhaps not surprising given his profession & profile as a high profile musician and the touring – which means that he was constantly away from home.

c. With infidelity a recurring theme, this is likely to have triggered a sense of paranoia, inadequacy & insecurity to all the women he was involved with.

d. Perhaps they would have feared, not without just cause, that he could potentially up & leave and jump onto the next crushing beauty he had set his eyes on while on tour.

e. Tuku likely loved his children whole heartedly but lacked the courage to address the cruelty and ill-treatment that the children felt they were being subjected to by Daisy.

f. Tuku was likely aware of that ill-treatment and tried to make amends but in the end, he was unable to be insistent / failed to stay the course, probably because Daisy was too headstrong for him.

g. Sandra being left to fend for herself alone in Kwekwe, not being given Tuku’s cell phone number or not being told about the new house – exposing her as a girl child to extreme levels of isolation, vulnerability & deprivation is mean spirited, cruel and amounts to neglect, emotional, financial, and psychological abuse.

h. Failing to check on her, over and above what is highlighted above amounts to abandoning her and the absence of parental care, love and affection in that limited context.

i. The narrative set out by Selmor & Sandra suggests that Tuku was likely fearful of Daisy to the very end. The elaborate ruse to engineer an underserved & forced apology to Daisy via his Muzaya a desperate attempt at facilitating reconciliation & reproachment – which failed spectacularly & saw the Newsday Newspaper apology being given short shrift – is a case in point.

j. Daisy comes across as an extremely cold, ruthless, petty, vindictive, selfish, greedy, cruel, controlling, manipulative, calculating, devious & the classic stepmother from hell.

k. Examples of that behaviour includes surreptitiously abandoning Sandra in Kwekwe, directly that she be given Sadza prepared from the family dog Kwana‘s pot and thus a different meal from her half-siblings, being discriminated against when going to family gatherings, failing to keep up with College fees & costs when Tuku was touring & the controversies concerning how Pakare Paye is currently being run, which is tied to the cloud of uncertainty surrounding how Tuku‘s Estate was devolved.

l. It would appear that it is unclear whether or not Tuku left a valid will.

m. One one hand we have got the Lawyer from Chibune & Associates making such a declaration to the family and on another, a Will apparently emerging from nowhere and declaring Daisy the sole benefactor of Tuku‘s Estate – a state of affairs which appears to be hazy and contested.

n. We also know that Tuku was apparently in the process of trying to prepare a Family Trust – which shows that he intended to make arrangements for other beneficiaries beyond Daisy.

p. This is not surprising as Tuku would have known that his family life was complex and involved children from multiple relationships – and it would have been clear to him that not making adequate provisions for them would have left them at the whims of Daisy’s highly unpredictable behaviour – risking them getting nothing from his Estate, which is what has unfolded.

q. In addition to the above, Tuku also had complex business affairs – with Band members like Picky Kasamba & others who had been with him for a long time – plus the Pakare Paye Arts Centre needing detailed legal house keeping to cater for them long after not only his demise, but that of Daisy as well.

r. Just like Bob, Chidyausiku, Mujuru & others before him, Tuku had enough time to settle his affairs before his tragic demise. From Sandra’s account, it appears as if this was not done, and the

s. We have to face the inconvenient truth that our national icon lacked the courage to see that through, perhaps out of the sheer fear of this being discovered by Daisy and being construed as an act of unforgiveable betrayal by an ailing spouse.

t. Tuku was aware of & struggled to deal with the fact that Daisy did not want his other children from his other relationships not only to live with them but to socialise and interact with him – leaving them all with no option but to do this behind her back!

u. Credit to him that he fought for Sandra to stay with them in Norton and for sorting out the College fees situation, but that’s not enough – much more needed to be done.

v. We are consoled by the fact that, contrary to @Shadaya_Knight’s false, libellous, deeply offensive, irresponsible and insensitive comments, Tuku, Selmor & Sandra were on speaking terms, and he was in the process of bringing all his children together and composing a song with them before he tragically ran out of time!

w. We know from the Podcast that Selmor is probably more emotional than Sandra – or it could be that Sandra is more adept at keeping her emotions in check & suffering silently or more resilient by virtue of being an elder sister and perhaps having bore the brunt of the ill-treatment.

x. It’s clear that both Sandra & Selmor carry a lot of trauma from their childhood. The impression that one got from the Podcast is that there were discriminated against, cast away and treated as inferior and unwanted, leaving them emotionally and psychologically scarred.

y. Tuku cleared left them a legacy of a raging family feud and struggling to feel like they belong to the same nuclear family and share the same identity & worth as his children with Daisy.

z. By ghosting them and continuing to exclude them from legacy functions including the recent commemorative event at Pakare Paye, Daisy is reinforcing that exclusion and their sense of detachment & lack of belonging – causing them to relive their childhood trauma.

Conclusion
The above events offer a sobering lesson and call for a careful reflection about the true cost of broken homes and the suffering that is visited upon children from such homes.

It is clear that they carry their childhood trauma into adult hood and never truly heal, often silently carrying the burden of their emotional and psychological scars.

Whilst Tuku tried his best to retrieve the situation to the very end, the reality is that he failed to surmount the challenges posed by Daisy.

Like many men, it’s likely that Tuku was simply enchanted & blinded by Daisy‘s beauty, which inexorably shifted the power dynamics in the relationship, leaving him effectively feeling like someone being vicariously held hostage / captive.

On paper & outwardly, he was a superstar and free to chart his own destiny. In reality, he felt constrained & struggled to be assertive and to confront Daisy to achieve emancipation as a prelude to fighting for the well-being of all his disadvantaged children.

This is a timeless reminder to many folks out there. If you establish a new relationship and have got children from a previous relationship, you have got a parental duty to ensure continuity of care at the same level at a minimum.

You have to ensure that children are loved, cared for, protected, financially supported and seen at the same level they used to be before the demise of the relationship.

Be ready to fight for and stand up for their rights and emotional and mental well-being. Be ready to protect them from neglect and abuse.

Be ready and willing to accept that human nature means that it is possible for the very person you love to potentially have a well disguised nasty & cruel streak in them and to unleash this behind your back!

Be willing to challenge and confront wily and devious new spouses. Be ready to make provisions for your wishes to be respected via a written & up to date Will ahead of time!

Can The Feud Be Resolved?

Finally, @djollah_7 proposed to take steps for the family feud to be resolved. On paper this seems wise and the right thing to do.

Never say never – but in reality this appears difficult to accomplish and feels forced. This is because, this has existed well before Tuku‘s death.

It’s clear from Selmor & Sandra‘s accounts that Tuku himself eventually gave up and resorted to interacting with them secretly, sometimes via Sam Mataure‘s facilitation.

The above state of affairs is likely to be attributable to the fact that perhaps owing to circumstances around Tuku & Daisy‘s courtship & marriage, perhaps with Tuku going back & forth – Daisy never felt secure in the relationship – at least initially – and regarded the children as a threat!

Perhaps deep down, she had never accepted them as part of the family – and only pretended to accept them because she had to, to secure Tuku‘s hand in marriage, while in reality she secretly & deeply loathed them!

What with Sandra‘s account of what she was told in Kwekwe about being denied usage of some household utensils because Daisy was allegedly worried about Sandra destroying “her children’s property,” this after she had been abandoned by stealth – and Daisy clearly untroubled in her conscience – & clearly devoid of maternal instincts – not showing any concern for young Sandra’s well being at that point!

Let me pose this question clearly: is there a world in which Daisy would ever have allowed her daughter Samantha to be abandoned alone in an empty house, unprotected, with no love & condemned to destitution?

If none then why was it acceptable for such callous treatment to be accorded to one so young & vulnerable? What sin had she committed? To have been born from Tuku’s previous marriage?

Sandra also takes into her confidence pertaining to the incident involving Sam Mataure paying her salary and this somehow triggering Daisy into throwing a hissy fit as if she was somehow not entitled to to that salary!

Then there is also the alleged nasty comment Daisy allegedly made in front of the whole Band when Tuku had brought her into the fold as a Team Manager, something along the lines of:I hope that you do not steal my money!

If true, that’s nastiness on steroids and lying unprovoked! Really dangerous, calculating, jealous and insecure – perhaps as that would have meant that Sandra was too close for comfort.

She would perhaps have been jealous about the affection Tuku showed them and saw them as an extension of their mother – struggled to see financial resources being spent for their upkeep and considered them as future adversaries in the devolution of Tuku‘s Estate!

She would have seized upon and weaponised the Newspaper story to carry a lifelong grudge & refuse to accept their apology – and perhaps encouraged Tuku to do the same – to use that as justifiable & cast iron grounds to exclude them claiming a share in Tuku‘s Estate.

It would appear to me that she has got a financial incentive to keep the feud festering and is using it as a cudgel to keep them away from Pakare Paye Arts Centre.

By remaining silent while ostracising Selmor & Sandra, it keeps a sense of mystery & intrigue going – causing the public to second guess the cause of the feud and who is culpable – helping her to sustain a sense of moral superiority over them while in reality she is simply ring fencing, controlling and monopolising control of Tuku‘s legacy & Estate with her own children with Tuku to the exclusion of others.

The evidence from Selmor & Sandra‘s accounts suggests that there is deeply ingrained, historical hatred on her part, that she is strong willed & unlikely to be moved by public sentiment.

If she is moved, this is unlikely to be sincere / genuine, and is likely to be consistent with what we saw recently, when she bowed to public pressure and invited them to perform but never welcomed or greeted them – and went on to issue a statement attributed to her that is hard hitting, lacks contrition & openings for a soft landing consistent with a family matriarch pursuing rapprochement / who wants to patch things up with her family!

As a take away, remember, most households with step children are likely to be social crime scenes, as such children tend to suffer in silence for years on end.

In light of this, please allow Selmor to bleed her pain out … yes, even publicly, even though she is married and even though she is in her 40s! It is her battle, her pain, her story and above all, her journey!

Harare Lawyer Arrested On Fraud Allegations

By A Correspondent| The Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission has arrested Harare lawyer, Agness Chatsama on allegations of fraud as defined in Section 136 of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act.

Chatsama is accused of conniving with Ariginero Muzeya to deceive the Department of Deeds, Companies and Intellectual Property to transfer Patrick Court located at the Corner of Nelson Mandela and Sixt Avenue in Harare, from Newcorner Emporium Pvt Limited to Talati Family Trust, for USD 251 368-00.

Muzeya (still at large) has been leasing the property from Newcorner Emporium Pvt Limited, a company owned by the Patrikios family, from the year 2002.

The two allegedly misrepresented to the Department of Deeds, Companies and Intellectual Property that a board resolution authorising Muzeya to sell the property he was leasing had been granted by Newcorner Emporium Pvt Limited.

Chatsama and Muzeya also presented a Capital Gains Tax Certificate, purportedly from ZIMRA, fully knowing that it was a false document.

Acting on the misrepresentation, the Department of Deeds, Companies and Intellectual Property transfered the property in question to the Talati Family, in the process prejudicing the Patrikios family of USD 800 000-00.

Chatsama will appear at Harare Magistrates Court on Friday 27 September 2024.

Mafume In Trouble Over Deplorable State Of Public Toilets

By A Correspondent| A human rights lawyer is calling on the City of Harare (CoH) to urgently address the deplorable state of public toilets in the capital, citing a violation of residents’ dignity and constitutional rights.

Roselyn Hanzi, a Harare resident and Executive Director of Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights (ZLHR), has demanded immediate action from CoH to restore dignity for residents using these facilities. In a letter of demand sent on Wednesday, 25 September 2024, Hanzi highlighted how the condition of public toilets in the city violates several sections of Zimbabwe’s Constitution, including the right to human dignity (section 51), protection against inhumane treatment (section 53), and the right to a healthy environment (section 73(1)(a)).

The letter, written by her lawyer Tinashe Chinopfukutwa from ZLHR, followed alarming reports in the media about the poor state of the city’s public restrooms. Hanzi, who regularly pays her rates, noted that public toilets are often unusable due to their condition and the inappropriate conduct of CoH employees stationed at these facilities.

At several bus terminuses, CoH staff reportedly demand either a roll of toilet paper or a payment of US$0.50 from members of the public wishing to use the toilets. According to Hanzi, those unable to meet these demands are denied access. This issue was notably reported in a NewsDay article on 7 September 2024.

Conditions at the Charge Office bus terminus are particularly concerning. Women using the toilet are instructed that the facility is for urination only, not defecation, and CoH officials routinely admonish users for spending too much time in the restrooms. Hanzi further criticized the absence of functional flushing systems and sewer connections, which have forced CoH to adopt a bucket system in the toilets due to inadequate water supply. She also raised concerns about the lack of doors, which compromises users’ privacy.

Inside the toilet rooms, piles of used toilet paper litter the floor, a result of the broken sewer system and insufficient water supply, Hanzi said. She pointed out that the lack of handwashing facilities further exposes users to potential health hazards.

Hanzi argued that these conditions, particularly for women, are degrading and violate the right to dignity as enshrined in the Constitution. The practice of charging US$0.50 for tissue paper or requiring people to bring their own toilet paper, she said, breaches fundamental rights to human dignity and protection from inhumane treatment.

Citing the Urban Councils Act, Hanzi emphasized that CoH is legally obligated to maintain public toilets within its jurisdiction. The current conditions, she said, demonstrate a clear failure by the local authority to fulfill this responsibility, despite regularly collecting sewer rates from residents.

The state of the toilets also poses a public health risk, Hanzi warned, potentially exposing users to diseases like cholera and typhoid. This, she argued, violates the right to a healthy environment.

Hanzi urged CoH to take immediate steps to repair the flushing, sewer, and water systems in the city’s public toilets, and to stop the practice of charging for tissue paper. She also demanded the installation of doors in all public restrooms across Harare.

Should the local authority fail to comply, Hanzi has threatened legal action, with CoH bearing the costs of any subsequent litigation.

Businessman Rapes, Impregnates Maid

A foreign national who runs shops in Bulawayo allegedly raped his maid who suffers from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and Mild Intellectual Disability on several occasions causing her to fall pregnant.

The 57-year-old suspect who lives in Kumalo suburb in the city is set to appear before a Bulawayo regional magistrate for allegedly raping a 27-year-old helper who cannot be named for professional reasons before he terminated her employment contract.

Sources said the trial was supposed to kick off in June but it had to be delayed after the state applied for a psychiatric examination of the alleged victim. According to the doctor’s report, the victim was diagnosed with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and Mild Intellectual Disability. The report also noted that the victim cannot give consent to sex.

The businessman’s son was also accused of raping the victim but has since been acquitted by the court. A source close to the case said at an undisclosed period, at first the businessman (name withheld to protect the identity of the victim) entered her bedroom which was not locked and allegedly sexually attacked her.

After that, he would every week sneak into her bedroom during the night and allegedly rape her. It is said at times he would come home during the day and reportedly call her to his bedroom and sexually attack her. The alleged victim could not resist or scream as he threatened to terminate her employment contract.

“When he discovered that she was pregnant he terminated her employment contract. She returned to her home and later gave birth,” said the source.

After giving birth, the uncle of the victim engaged the businessman to pay maintenance but he refused and denied that he impregnated her. After that, the family had to apply for an order to do a Deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) test.

“The probability of paternity to the child is 99.9 percent to the businessman, which confirms he fathered the child,” said the source.

The businessman allegedly paid maintenance for the upkeep of the child and defaulted along the way.

“He was hauled before Bulawayo magistrate Nomagugu Maphosa for defaulting in paying maintenance,” said the source.

The court case was put aside after he said he could not understand or speak English fluently. He was advised to look for an interpreter to translate his spoken language into English.

A victim’s relative said after the initial court appearance, the businessman resumed paying the maintenance.

“Now he is paying US$60 per month towards the child’s upkeep. But the money is not enough because there are a lot of basic needs for the upkeep of the child. We will apply for a review upwards,” said the family member.

Reached for a comment, the businessman said: “I never raped her. Those people want to extort money from me.”

Even though the businessman’s son, who also runs a shop in the city was recently acquitted of raping the victim, the family is not happy about the court outcome.

“We are not happy about the decision which was arrived at by the courts to acquit him because he also sexually attacked her, because she cannot consent to sex because of her condition. We are going to engage a lawyer to appeal,” said the uncle of the victim.

Tuku Daughters Expose Step Mom’s Cruelty

By Showbiz Reporter-The two late Oliver Mtukudzi’s daughters, Sandra and Selmor, have shared a heart-wrenching account of their upbringing under the care of their stepmother, Daisy.

The sisters opened up about their painful experiences in a podcast interview with DJ Ollah 7 on Wednesday, exposing the emotional hardships they endured.

Selmor, unable to contain her emotions, broke down on stage during her performance at the Pakare Paye Arts Centre in Norton, at a festival commemorating her father.

The “Hangasa” singer expressed her deep disappointment at how the arts hub had been neglected since Tuku’s death.
“It was my first time performing on the Pakare Paye stage after my father’s death,” she said. “I became emotional when we arrived, only to see my father’s office locked. When I appeared on stage, I was touched by the people who showed me love.”

Selmor also dismissed claims that her playlist at the festival was aimed at her stepmother, Daisy. “During my shows, I always start with the song ‘Changu Chiiko’ followed by ‘Seiko’ with a low tempo. We then shift gears as we proceed, which has become the norm at our shows. People who frequent our shows know our playlist better, and that playlist was not targeted at anyone.”

The pain of exclusion also weighed heavily on Selmor, as she revealed the shocking planning errors made by her half-sister Samantha and the OMIFA 2024 organising team.

“I was pained when I realised that I had been omitted from the initial line-up for the festival. I only got an invitation via e-mail on short notice. To my surprise, the organising team had been planning this event since June.”

Despite her long career in the industry, Selmor expressed her willingness to participate in family events without compensation, contradicting claims from the organisers.

“I was also shocked when the festival organisers claimed they had omitted me from the line-up because of a small budget. To my surprise, I have never asked for payment to perform at family events.”

Selmor shared intimate messages and screenshots of conversations with Tuku, where he expressed his hope for family unity and collaboration. However, she revealed, “His situation was difficult because of mama (Daisy), who didn’t want us to be close to him.”

She also pleaded with the public to keep her husband, Tendai Manatsa, out of the family drama. “Tendai should not be included in this issue. He is only a son-in-law and shouldn’t be dragged into this.”

Her older sister, Sandra, painted an even more troubling picture of Daisy’s role in dividing the family. “Before our father died, he sat down with all his daughters, including Samantha, and advised us to unite. He told us to plan family events together. But to my shock, mama (Daisy) seems to have forgotten everything our dad taught us.”
Sandra recalled how Daisy and her daughter Samantha had organised a family event in Madziva before the festival, without including the rest of Tuku’s daughters. “The exclusion is not just about Selmor; it’s about all of Tuku’s daughters and family members.”
Sandra, who is soon to return to the UK, said she is open to reconciliation. “I am open to dialogue and anything that can unite us as a family. Family events should be about harmony and unity. We are open to having a mediator to help bring this family together.”

Sandra recounted how difficult her life became while living with Daisy in Norton, where she often faced financial challenges during her time at a private college. “I was always in arrears. It was only after dad contacted the principal that things began to normalise.”
She went on to recall the favouritism she witnessed during her teenage years. “I remember this incident in Glenwood, Kwekwe, when I was 16. Dad and his new wife were building a house in Norton, the green house. I wasn’t informed about it, even though the other children knew. After the house was finished, dad came to bid us farewell, but I didn’t know the date they were moving out.”
Sandra’s hurt was palpable as she recounted how she discovered their new home only after it was too late. “A few days later, people told me they had seen my father in town. When I went home, it was an empty and sorrowful state. I was hurt—the house was empty, and I didn’t know where they had gone.”

As the family feud between Selmor, Sandra, and Daisy continues to unravel, only time will tell how this tragic family saga will ultimately conclude.

Will Mnangagwa Feed Entire Nation?

President Emmerson Mnangagwa has made a bold promise to the people of Zimbabwe: “I Will Feed You All.”

In a recent statement, Mnangagwa vowed that the Second Republic will ensure food security for all Zimbabweans, despite the challenges posed by the El Nino-induced drought.

This commitment comes at a critical time for Zimbabwe, which has been grappling with economic turbulence and food shortages. The El Nino-induced drought has exacerbated the situation, leaving many Zimbabweans struggling to access basic necessities.

Mnangagwa’s pledge is a beacon of hope for the nation. The Second Republic’s efforts to prioritize food security will focus on implementing sustainable agricultural practices, improving food distribution networks, and providing support to vulnerable communities.

As Zimbabwe navigates the challenges ahead, Mnangagwa’s commitment to food security serves as a powerful reminder of the government’s responsibility to its people. The success of this initiative will depend on collaborative efforts between the government, civil society, and international partners.

Will Mnangagwa’s promise be enough to alleviate Zimbabwe’s food crisis? Only time will tell, but for now, it’s a step in the right direction.

Mnangagwa Targets “Saboteurs”

By A Correspondent

Speaking at a ZANU PF Politburo meeting held at the party’s headquarters in Harare on Wednesday, Mr Emmerson Mnangagwa reiterated his government’s stance on the ongoing economic turmoil, attributing the crisis to what he termed “saboteurs.”

This recurring theme in his rhetoric underscores the administration’s narrative that external and internal forces are undermining the nation’s stability.

Mnangagwa stated, “Acts of economic sabotage, speculative and counter-productive tendencies by those who thrive on greed and profiteering have no place in our country.”

The declaration highlights his administration’s view that the economic struggles faced by ordinary citizens are not a result of government policies but rather the machinations of individuals seeking personal gain at the expense of the wider population.

The President’s comments come amid rising inflation, unemployment, and public discontent, which have fueled protests and calls for accountability.

By blaming “saboteurs,” Mnangagwa seeks to deflect criticism from his government, suggesting that the economic crisis is being exacerbated by malicious actors rather than systemic failures.

“Attacks on the economy to make the public suffer are unacceptable and my Government will protect the ordinary people,” he added, emphasizing his commitment to safeguarding the interests of the populace.

The statement reflects a broader strategy to galvanize support by positioning the government as a defender of the people against perceived threats.

Critics of the government argue that such rhetoric serves to obscure the underlying issues plaguing the economy, including mismanagement, corruption, and inadequate policy responses.

Many believe that the focus on “saboteurs” distracts from the need for genuine reforms.

As Zimbabwe continues to grapple with its economic challenges, Mnangagwa’s insistence on external blame raises questions about the administration’s willingness to confront its own shortcomings and implement the necessary changes to stabilize the country’s economy.

The narrative of sabotage may resonate with some supporters, but for many Zimbabweans struggling to make ends meet, the call for accountability and action remains paramount.

Request for Official Inquiry into the Looting of Assets at Road Motor Services

Dear @MhonaFelix

Request for Official Inquiry

The Minister of Transport and Infrastructural Development
Harare, Zimbabwe

25 September 2024

???????: Request for Official Inquiry into the Looting of Assets at Road Motor Services (RMS)

Dear Honourable Minister,

I write to formally request an urgent official inquiry into the massive looting and corruption scandal uncovered at Road Motor Services (RMS), a subsidiary of the National Railways of Zimbabwe (NRZ). As you are aware, Zim GBC News has reported that 22 heavy-duty trucks and other assets have been sold off as “scrap” under questionable circumstances since January 2024. These actions, allegedly under the management of Mr. Aaron Mahachi, have further compromised the operations of a struggling parastatal.

The gravity of this situation can not be overstated. The illegal sale of fully functional vehicles, including five heavy-duty trucks on 7 September 2024, is not only an act of gross negligence but also constitutes theft of public resources. I call upon your Ministry to:

  1. ??????????? ??????? ??. ????? ??????? and other implicated officials pending the outcome of the investigation.
  2. ?????? ?? ??????????? ???????
to thoroughly investigate the full extent of the looting, including identifying all individuals and companies involved.
  3. ??????? ??? ?????? ?????? and ensure that legal action is taken against those responsible.
  4. ????????? ???????? ????????? ?????????? within RMS and other parastatals to prevent future incidents of corruption and asset mismanagement.

The people of Zimbabwe deserve a transparent and accountable public sector that safeguards the resources meant for national development. I urge you to act swiftly in launching this inquiry and ensuring that justice is served.

I look forward to your prompt response and assurance that these necessary actions will be taken to uphold the integrity of Zimbabwe’s public institutions.

Yours sincerely,
Linda Tsungirirai Masarira

Zidane Son Retires From Football At 29

Former Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane’s eldest son Enzo has retired from football at the age of 29.

The former midfielder started his youth career with Italian giants Juventus’ Academy in 2000 before joining Real Madrid Academy four years later.

His senior debut at Madrid came in November 2016, when his father brought him on during a Copa del Rey match against Cultural Leonesa. Enzo scored a goal that day, but failed to consolidate his place in the senior team.

After leaving the Bernabéu, he went on to play for clubs such as Alavés, Almería, Lausanne-Sport, Deportivo Aves, with his final team being Fuenlabrada.

The Frenchman spent the past year without a club and this has prompted him to hang his boots and focus on his family and business.

Mablanyo Speaks On DeMbare Loss

Dynamos coach Lloyd Chigowe has blamed the lack of CAF-certified stadiums in Zimbabwe after their exit from the Confederation Cup.

The Glamour Boys lost 3-1 on penalties to Orapa United of Botswana in the second leg of the first round encounter played at Obedi Itani Chilume Stadium in Francistown on Sunday.

The tie had ended 1-1 on aggregate after Orapa United won the return fixture 1-0 to cancel out Dembare’s 1-0 advantage from the first leg that was played at the same venue last week.

Speaking after Sunday’s match, where Ivan Kamberipa scored the solitary goal for Orapa in the 78th minute, Chigowe said:

“We played both matches away from home, that’s a big disadvantage.

“We played in the lion’s den twice and we lost. If we had played one of the matches at home I am sure the outcome would have been different.

“It will be difficult to lift the boys after this, but that’s our job we will go back and talk to them so that we can challenge in other competitions.”

Dynamos had several chances in the game including Kevin Moyo’s first half penalty miss.

Emmanuel Paga also had a goal disallowed earlier in the game for an offside.

In the penalty shootout, Chigowe’s men missed three kicks, while Orapa converted all the penalties they took.

The gaffer added: “We had the chances to kill off this contest, we had a penalty and we failed to score. Just like in the first match we had a glut of chances that we failed to take advantage of.”

Mnangagwa’s Aide Loses Mother

By Political Reporter-President Emmerson Mnangagwa has announced the death of his aide Paul Mavhima’s mother.

Mavhima is the Skills Audit and Development minister.

In his condolence message, Mnangagwa said Mavhima’s mother, Mrs Theresa Mavima, died of kidney failure in Harare.

Masvingo Prophet Predicts Mnangagwa’s Down-Fall

By Political Reporter – Controversial Masvingo preacher Isaac Makomichi has reignited speculation about Zimbabwe’s political future by predicting the fall of President Emmerson Mnangagwa and the rise of his deputy, Vice President Constantino Chiwenga.

Speaking at an interdenominational prayer group in Beitbridge, Makomichi claimed that Chiwenga would one day lead the nation, but only with Mnangagwa’s blessings.

He further stressed that Chiwenga’s loyalty to Mnangagwa was crucial for his rise despite enemies attempting to block his path to power.

Makomichi’s prophecy comes amidst growing tension between Mnangagwa and Chiwenga, who have been embroiled in a quiet but escalating power struggle since the 2017 coup that ousted Robert Mugabe.

This rift came to the fore during a heated ZANU-PF politburo meeting last Wednesday, where Mnangagwa accused Chiwenga’s allies of using social media to rally support for the Vice President.

The meeting initially convened to trim delegates for next month’s conference, turned into a battleground as Mnangagwa signalled his intent to block Chiwenga’s succession in 2028.

Mnangagwa’s plan to promote his ally, Mabel Chinomona, at the upcoming Bulawayo conference faces stiff opposition from Chiwenga loyalists.

The long-standing rivalry between the two leaders, once united in overthrowing Mugabe, now threatens to fracture the party, with signs of an intensifying struggle for control as Zimbabwe’s next presidential transition approaches.

Zanu PF Murakashi Confronts Mnangagwa Over Economic Crisis

Kudzai Mutisi, a member of Zanu PF’s online support network, has publicly challenged President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa to reevaluate his leadership team, citing their incompetence as detrimental to his administration’s reputation.

Mutisi insists that Mnangagwa and the ruling party must prioritize improving citizens’ lives.

He warns that a well-funded and determined opposition could easily unseat Zanu PF, attributing the party’s potential downfall to poor economic management.

“President Mnangagwa should not feel secure with ineffective team members. Citizens are suffering due to the greed of politicians and bureaucrats,” he stated.

He further emphasized that the younger generation lacks blind loyalty and demands effective governance.

“They expect results. It’s crucial to remove ministers who are underperforming and establish a capable Cabinet to secure the party’s future,” Mutisi added.

He concluded by urging Zanu PF to recognize the support of the youth and avoid being undermined by incompetence within its ranks.

Prioritise Maintenance Of Brakes

Road safety is a paramount concern for drivers, passengers, and pedestrians alike. Among the various factors that contribute to safe driving, the condition of a vehicle’s braking system is crucial.

Faulty brakes can lead to devastating accidents, highlighting the importance of regular maintenance and awareness.

The Importance of Brakes

Brakes are one of the most vital components of a vehicle. They allow drivers to slow down or stop, which is essential for avoiding collisions. When brakes fail, the consequences can be catastrophic, leading to serious injuries or fatalities. Common causes of brake failure include worn-out brake pads, air in the brake lines, and malfunctioning brake systems.

Signs of Faulty Brakes

To ensure safety on the road, drivers should be vigilant for signs of brake issues:

  1. Squeaking or Grinding Noises: These sounds often indicate that brake pads are worn out and need replacement.
  2. Soft or Spongy Brake Pedal: This could signal air in the brake lines or fluid leaks, reducing the system’s effectiveness.
  3. Vibrations: If the brake pedal vibrates when pressed, it may suggest warped rotors, which require immediate attention.
  4. Pulling to One Side: If the vehicle pulls to one side while braking, it could indicate uneven brake wear or issues with the brake system.
  5. Warning Lights: Many modern vehicles are equipped with warning lights that signal brake problems. Ignoring these alerts can have dire consequences.

The Role of Regular Maintenance

Regular brake inspections and maintenance are essential for preventing failures. Drivers should adhere to the following best practices:

  • Routine Inspections: Have brakes checked at least once a year or more frequently if you notice any warning signs.
  • Timely Repairs: Address any issues promptly to avoid further damage and ensure optimal performance.
  • Brake Fluid Checks: Regularly check brake fluid levels and replace it as recommended, typically every two years.
  • Professional Assistance: Always consult a qualified mechanic for thorough inspections and repairs, especially if you’re unsure about the condition of your brakes.

Educating Drivers

Awareness and education are key to preventing accidents caused by faulty brakes. Drivers should understand the importance of brake maintenance and recognize the signs of potential failure.

Additionally, defensive driving practices—such as maintaining a safe following distance and anticipating traffic conditions—can mitigate risks even if brake issues arise.

In summary, maintaining a vehicle’s braking system is essential for road safety. Faulty brakes can lead to serious accidents, making regular inspections and prompt repairs critical.

By staying informed and proactive, drivers can protect themselves and others on the road,

contributing to a safer driving environment for everyone. Prioritizing brake maintenance not only enhances vehicle performance but also saves lives..

Mnangagwa Issues Chilling Warning To Zanu PF Members Exposing Internal Fights On Social Media

By A Correspondent

Speaking during a ZANU PF Politburo meeting held at the party’s headquarters in Harare on Wednesday, President Emmerson Mnangagwa issued a stern warning to party members engaged in public infighting and social media disputes.

His comments underscore rising tensions within the party as factions vie for influence and power.

“Unruly elements who are abusing various media platforms to cause alarm and despondency, while also sowing disunity and advancing misguided, nefarious political agendas within the country and Party, stand warned,” Mnangagwa stated emphatically. This declaration highlights his concerns over how internal conflicts are spilling into public view, potentially damaging the party’s image and unity.

The president challenged ZANU PF members to actively combat any statements or actions that distort the party’s revolutionary principles. “I challenge the Party to resolutely oppose statements and actions that undermine or distort our correct line of the revolution,” he urged, emphasizing the need for solidarity and coherence in the party’s messaging.

Mnangagwa further elaborated on the stakes involved, warning against any behavior that jeopardizes national interests.

“All moves to damage the interests of the people of our great motherland; tamper with our unity, social harmony, development interest, sovereignty, security and overall national stability should be decisively dealt with,” he declared.

His remarks come at a time when divisions within ZANU PF have become increasingly apparent, with factions using social media to air grievances and disputes.

The president’s call for unity aims to reassert control and refocus party members on their shared goals, particularly as Zimbabwe faces significant political and economic challenges.

As the political landscape continues to evolve, it remains to be seen how ZANU PF will address these internal issues and whether Mnangagwa’s warning will lead to a more unified front among its members.

Mnangagwa Signals Intention To Abandon US Dollar

By A Correspondent

In a notable development, Zimbabwean government spokesperson Nick Mangwana has suggested that the country may soon abandon the US dollar in favour of ZiG.

His comments, made in a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday, reflect a growing trend among African nations to distance themselves from the US dollar.

Mangwana highlighted the exchange rates of the US dollar against several African currencies, stating: “1 USD = 1341 Rwandan Franc, 1 USD = 936 Angolan Kwanza, 1 USD = 2731 Tanzanian Shillings, 1 USD = 1723 Malawian Kwacha, 1 USD = 1634 Naira.”

He pointed out: “What’s interesting is that you can’t legally buy anything using the USD in shops in all the above countries and others.”

His remarks seem to suggest a push towards a single currency, or “Monocurrency,” as a means of fostering economic stability and encouraging domestic transactions.

The shift reflects a broader sentiment among several African nations aiming to reduce reliance on the US dollar, which has historically been a dominant currency in international trade.

This announcement comes at a time when Zimbabwe continues to grapple with economic challenges, including hyperinflation and currency instability. By promoting a local currency, the government may hope to enhance economic sovereignty and improve fiscal management.

As Zimbabwe contemplates this significant policy shift, the potential implications for trade, investment, and everyday transactions remain to be seen.

The move could redefine the landscape of the nation’s economy and its relationship with international markets.

Chigowe Fumes Over Lack Of Standard Stadiums In Country

Top Economist Gives His 2 Cents On Mono-Currency

By Professor Gift Mugano| I hear repeated calls for the introduction of mono-currency in favor of ZiG (banning USD).

My 2 cents advice is that if GoZ bans the USD it will be the biggest loser because the informal sector will not dump the USD – GoZ will lose tax in USD.

Policy only works in a formal economy. In circumstances where the informal sector is so huge, IT CANNOT WORK!

Where we are, GOZ must let USD work as a mono currency & work on establishing the right fundamentals for the introduction of a local currency which inter alia include:

  1. Building a productive & competitive economy
  2. Building foreign currency reserves averaging 6 months import cover (US$4.5 billion)
  3. Fiscal consolidation – reducing public debt to levels averaging 30% of GDP
  4. Stable exchange rates with distortions not exceeding 10%
  5. Current account surplus
  6. Single digit inflation
  7. Establishment of strong institutions with enough teeth to rein corruption & other social ills including fostering rule of law
  8. National cohesion – credible elections, elimination of toxic politics, no crackdown of opposition & weaponization of judiciary
  9. Provision of critical enablers such as affordable & reliable electricity, fuel, transport (road, rail & air), ICT, water & sanitation, health and education.
  10. Confidence – if we put in place the points I raised from 1 – 9, we will ensure that there is confidence.

This is not a walk in the park. This will not happen overnight. If we are not careful, it will take us decades to have our local currency.

Already, we have travelled 27 years with currency crisis since the Black Friday of 14 November 1997!

The challenge I give to the GoZ is to undertake a comprehensive research focused on the need to understand why our currencies are failing & what needs to be done.

This is critical in view of the fact that we have lost many currencies in recent years!

Supermarkets Collapse As ZiG Crisis Worsens

By Business Reporter- The country’s largest supermarket chains, including OK Zimbabwe, Pick n Pay, SPAR, and Edgars, are warning of an impending shutdown, as the Zimbabwe Intermediated Government (ZiG) currency crisis threatens to cripple the formal retail sector.

The Retailers Association of Zimbabwe (RAZ), which represents these retail giants, has sounded the alarm, calling for immediate government intervention to prevent collapse.

The association argues that the government’s insistence on using the overvalued official exchange rate is drivinglegitimate businesses to the brink, making their goods significantly more expensive than those sold by unregulated tuckshops that operate using street exchange rates.

In a letter to the government, RAZ warned that unless urgent policy adjustments are made, the formal retail industry could crumble.

“The situation is clearly untenable and will lead to company closures if authorities do not intervene with measures to protect the formal sector,” RAZ stated.

Employing close to 20,000 people, the retail sector is a significant contributor to the Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA) through taxes like PAYE, VAT, IMTT, withholding taxes, and corporate tax. However, faced with skyrocketing supplier costs driven by street exchange rates, retailers have been forced to hike USD prices, further fueling inflation and driving consumers to the informal market.

RAZ has proposed two key measures to stabilize the sector:

  1. Market-Determined Exchange Rate: Retailers are pushing for a dynamic pricing model that reflects real-time exchange rates, allowing them to stay competitive without incurring significant losses.
  2. Discounted Pricing: The association has suggested retaining the official exchange rate but offering targeted discounts to lower inflation in USD terms and boost demand.

Additionally, RAZ is calling for the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) to adopt a more advisory role, instead of its current punitive approach. They propose a collaborative relationship where retailers and the FIU share market data to inform better economic policies.

Without swift action, Zimbabwe’s biggest retail brands risk disappearing, with devastating economic consequences and thousands of jobs at stake.

Guvamatanga’s Son-in-law Funded Extravagant Wedding With Proceeds From Smooth Diamond Heist

By A Correspondent| A shocking investigation has revealed a link between the extravagant wedding of Finance Ministry Permanent Secretary George Guvamatanga’s son-in-law, Zvikomborero Nyamakura, and a missing shipment of diamonds following a plane crash near Beatrice last year.

On February 13, 2023, a Murowa Diamonds Piper 31 Navajo aircraft, carrying a parcel of diamonds, force-landed 16 km from Beatrice. The five people aboard, including Nyamakura, pilot of the flight, all survived. However, the diamonds were reported missing.

Though a statement from RioZim, the parent company of Murowa Diamonds, failed to address or report any missing diamonds, sources privy to what transpired suggest that the crash was staged to divert attention to some missing diamonds.

According to a well-placed insider, “The crash wasn’t accidental. It was orchestrated to make it appear like some diamonds were lost in the crash, but they had already been stolen.”

Months later, Nyamakura held a secret, opulent wedding in South Africa with Guvamatanga’s daughter.

The luxurious ceremony was attended by high-profile figures from Zimbabwe and abroad, and featured lavish decorations, world-class entertainment, and an array of VIP guests. The timing and sudden wealth raised suspicions.

“There’s no doubt the missing diamonds financed that wedding,” a source close to the case revealed. “The timing and newfound wealth line up perfectly.”

Despite calls from the public to investigate the matter, the case has largely been suppressed. Sources say this is due to Guvamatanga’s significant political influence, which has led to repeated efforts to block investigations into the crash and missing diamonds.

A law enforcement officer involved in the case, speaking anonymously, said, “This is not just about missing diamonds. There is considerable political power involved, and no one wants to address it. The higher-ups are involved, which is why this case has been swept under the rug.”

UZ Exposes Nduna

By A Correspondent| University of Zimbabwe has exposed controversial politician and former Zanu PF Legislator Dexter Nduna who recently caused social media scene after he attended the institution’s graduation ceremony despite his ineligibility due to failure.

Following weeks and weeks of speculation, the UZ has finally settled the matter by confirming that Nduna failed three modules which he has to retake to graduate.

On the UZ graduation day, Nduna posted a picture of himself captioned, “Congratulation to me today UZ law class of 2024.”

He was later exposed after his letter in which he was applying for a remark leaked online while the list of law graduating class of 2024 was also shared widely.

Now UZ has settled the matter after announcing names of students who did not graduate and the list of modules they are expected to retake.

Parents Acquitted Over School Maladministration Protest

By A Correspondent| Mutasa Magistrates court has absolved four parents of misconduct charges after they stood trial for allegedly staging a protest against maladministration by some school authorities in Honde Valley, in Manicaland province.

The parents namely, Jennifer SitholeTafirenyika Boterere, Shadreck Manyange and Brighton Manyange, had been standing trial at Mutasa Magistrates Court in Mutasa District in Manicaland province after they were arrested by Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) officers together with a three-year-old toddler and Esther Kuseri, who was pregnant at the time of arrest, and charged with disorderly conduct in a public place as defined in section 41 of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act.

During trial, prosecutors claimed that SitholeManyangeBoterere and Manyange, who reside in Sagambe village in Mutasa District in Manicaland province, masterminded a protest against Evans Mwaturura, the school head at Sagambe Primary School, who stood accused by some parents and guardians, of presiding over maladministration at the school. The villagers were also accused of stopping school children from attending lessons at Sagambe Primary School.

The allegations of maladministration had been raised during aSchool Development Committee (SDC) Annual General Meeting, which was held at Sagambe Primary School, where some parents intended to raise several concerns against Mwaturura. The disgruntled parents had sought to engage officials from the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education and eventually a meeting was held with officials from the ministry in the presence of some ZRP officers from Ruda Police Station. Kuseri was arrested during the meeting for allegedly raising her voice against an official at the consultation. She was later released from Ruda Police Station on Thursday 7March 2024 after she paid an admission of guilt fine for disorderly conduct in a public place for contravening section 41 of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act, following the intervention of ZLHR lawyers.

Kuseri opted to pay an admission of guilt fine for disorderly conduct in a public place because she was pregnant and the conditions of police detention were making her uncomfortable and she was not comfortable with the inconvenience of court processes considering her condition.

Chikosa who is the former SDC Chairperson at Sagambe Primary School, was separately charged with contravening section 37 of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act for allegedly participating in a gathering with intent to promote public violence, breaches of the peace or bigotry.

He was accused of being the one who had written a list of grievances levelled against Mwaturura, which had been presented at the meeting with officials from the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education.

Chikosa was removed from remand and advised that he would be summoned to stand trial if prosecutors decide to pursue the matter.

On 4 September 2024, Mutasa Magistrate Artwell Sanyatwe acquitted SitholeManyangeBoterere and Manyange after finding themnot guilty at the close of the prosecution case.

Chigumba In Election Rigging Confession

By Political Reporter- The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) chair, Justice Priscilla Chigumba, has confirmed that elections are consistently rigged.

Speaking at an election workshop in Nyanga, Chigumba pointed to longstanding electoral disputes and suggested that they could be avoided if political parties and stakeholders proactively agreed on legal reforms before election cycles begin.

“The differences we have as stakeholders on the electoral process in Zimbabwe are perpetuated by our failure to correctly diagnose the problems in order to prescribe effective solutions,” she stated, calling for urgent dialogue to fix the country’s flawed system.

Chigumba’s remarks, made during the 2023 post-election review conference, highlight how deep-seated challenges in Zimbabwe’s electoral framework are a direct result of the lack of preemptive reforms.

Despite ZEC’s role, she implied that without consensus on laws governing elections, the status quo of manipulation would persist.

“Electoral change can only be referred to as reform if its primary goal is to improve electoral processes, fostering enhanced impartiality, inclusiveness, transparency, integrity, or accuracy,” said Chigumba.

However, she warned that what is seen as reform by some could be viewed as deliberate manipulation by others, underscoring the complexity of the issue.

The shocking acknowledgment by Zimbabwe’s top electoral authority reignites the debate on how ZEC itself has played a role in sustaining rigged elections and whether true reform can ever be achieved under its current structure.

Chigumba’s remarks suggest a willingness to change—but the question remains whether that change will happen or if Zimbabwe’s elections will continue down the same contested path.

Mnangagwa Loses Sleep Over Collapsing ZiG

Chiwenga ‘Shot-Down’ In Explosive Zanu PF Showdown

By Political Reporter – An explosive clash erupted at the Zanu PF politburo meeting yesterday as President Emmerson Mnangagwa read the riot act to Vice President Constantino Chiwenga’s supporters.

The heated session convened to trim the number of delegates ahead of next month’s conference turned into a battleground over growing tensions between the two powerhouses.

Mnangagwa accused Chiwenga’s allies of using social media to rally support for the Vice President, signalling an alarming escalation in their power struggle.

Despite a behind-the-scenes deal made after the 2017 coup—which ousted Robert Mugabe and placed Mnangagwa in power—Mnangagwa is now mobilizing to block Chiwenga from taking over in 2028.

The meeting saw Mnangagwa issue a stern warning: “Unruly elements who are abusing various media platforms to cause alarm and despondency… stand warned,” he declared at party headquarters, directly targeting Chiwenga’s camp.

Mnangagwa, aiming to replace Chiwenga with his ally Mabel Chinomona at the upcoming Bulawayo conference, faces resistance from Chiwenga loyalists within the party.

Key figures at the meeting included Mnangagwa’s wife, Auxillia, Chiwenga, and senior party members Kembo Mohadi, Oppah Muchinguri, and Obert Mpofu.

The long-standing rivalry between Mnangagwa and Chiwenga, who spearheaded the 2017 coup, continues to threaten party unity, with signs of a deeper battle for control as the 2028 transition looms.

ZANU PF’s 2028 Election Strategy Raises Concerns Over Rigging

By A Correspondent

As the 2028 elections approach, the ZANU PF Mashonaland West Youth League is ramping up its efforts to consolidate power and maintain its grip on the political landscape. Recently, the league distributed motorbikes to all secretaries of youth affairs in the province, a move framed as a response to mobility challenges that have hampered party activities. This initiative, however, raises questions about the underlying motives and potential implications for electoral integrity.

Provincial Youth League Chairperson Tapiwa Masenda stated that the motorbikes would enhance the operational capacity of youth leaders, allowing them to engage more effectively with party members and supporters. While the provision of motorbikes may appear to empower the youth, critics argue that it also serves as a tool for tighter control and surveillance over grassroots activities. This strategic maneuver could be seen as a preparatory step toward consolidating support and reinforcing party loyalty ahead of the elections.

The distribution of motorbikes aligns with a broader pattern of ZANU PF’s tactics in previous elections, where allegations of electoral malpractices, including rigging and intimidation, have been rampant. By strengthening its youth wing, ZANU PF aims to secure a robust presence in communities, potentially stifling dissent and undermining the efforts of opposition parties. The focus on youth engagement, while seemingly positive, can also be interpreted as a means to manipulate the political landscape in favor of the ruling party.

As political tensions rise in Zimbabwe, the implications of these actions cannot be overlooked. ZANU PF’s commitment to empowering its youth may mask deeper strategies aimed at ensuring electoral dominance, raising concerns about the legitimacy of the upcoming elections. With allegations of electoral fraud looming, the party’s initiatives may ultimately contribute to an environment where transparency and fairness are compromised, casting doubt on the democratic process in Zimbabwe.

Masvingo Provincial Hospital Medical Superintendent Discharged of Culpable Homicide Charge

Dr. Noel Ralph Zulu, the Medical Superintendent at Masvingo Provincial Hospital, has been discharged from a culpable homicide charge. The charge was related to an incident where a 30cm x 30cm surgical gauze was left inside a patient’s abdomen during a procedure.

Dr. Zulu was discharged this afternoon by Regional Magistrate Bishard Chineka, following a discharge application made last Wednesday by his attorney, Oliver Marwa. The application came at the end of the State’s case in the trial concerning the death of Gladys Sibanda.

Noel Zulu

Sibanda, who passed away in 2023 while attending a Zanu PF rally in Zaka, was previously treated at Masvingo Provincial Hospital where the gauze was left inside her after surgery. The State contended that the retained surgical item contributed to her death. However, Dr. Godfrey Zimbwa, who conducted the post-mortem, determined the cause of death to be liver cirrhosis, not complications related to the retained gauze.

Magistrate Chineka ruled that there was insufficient evidence to link Sibanda’s death directly to the surgical gauze left in her abdomen in 2015. Despite the gauze, reports indicated that Sibanda was otherwise physically well and able to perform household tasks.

This case highlights the challenges

Mnangagwa In Bid To Dismantle Opposition

By A Correspondent

In a revealing development, President Emmerson Mnangagwa has allegedly devised a plan to dismantle the opposition entirely before the 2028 elections.

This strategy appears to be gaining momentum as several members of the opposition Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) have recently defected to the ruling ZANU PF party.

The defections took place in St Mary’s Ward 5, Chitungwiza, where former CCC chairwoman Winnie Chiwundura was among the prominent figures to switch allegiance.

At a public event that included the burning of CCC regalia, Chiwundura cited “dissatisfaction with CCC’s leadership and a lack of progress” as her reasons for abandoning the opposition. Her move reflects a troubling trend for the CCC, which faces increasing challenges to its cohesion and public support.

ZANU PF officials welcomed the defections with enthusiasm, framing them as a testament to the ruling party’s growing influence.

A ZANU PF spokesperson stated, “Tatotanga campaign for 2028,” suggesting that the party is already gearing up for the next electoral battle by capitalizing on dissent within the opposition ranks.

This strategic move is indicative of a broader pattern of political maneuvering by ZANU PF. By highlighting disillusionment among CCC supporters, the ruling party aims to reinforce its narrative of inclusivity and governance effectiveness under Mnangagwa.

The recent defections not only serve to bolster ZANU PF’s ranks but also undermine the credibility of the CCC as a viable alternative.

As the political landscape in Zimbabwe evolves, the implications of these defections may have significant consequences for the opposition’s ability to unite and challenge the ruling party.

The CCC now faces the critical task of addressing internal grievances and restoring confidence among its base, or risk further erosion of its support as the 2028 elections approach.

Female Student Caught With Mbanje

By A Correspondent

A surprising turn of events occurred in Masvingo when a pregnant student from Masvingo Polytechnic was arrested for possessing dagga. On Wednesday, Sandra Ngobo, 21, was apprehended but was released by Magistrate Elizabeth Hanzi on Friday after being warned and cautioned.

Magistrate Hanzi took into account Ngobo’s pregnancy, her status as a student, and her lack of income to pay any potential fines. The court also recognized that community service was not a viable option for her, as it would interfere with her studies.

This decision highlights the court’s sensitivity to her circumstances while addressing the legal issues at hand.

Benza Makes A Mark In Europe

Herentals midfielder Tino Benza is closing in on a deal in Europe, amid revelations that an agency called him back to England where he has sharpening skills, with a number of top coaches fine-tuning him for possible move.

The 22-year-old Benza was first invited to England for the same program in July and spent three weeks training.

He reportedly impressed —a development which necessitated the agency to sign him up and invited him back for further logistics in the wake of a possible move.

The 2022 and 2023 Premier Soccer League (PSL) People’s Choice award winner, who flew to England a fortnight ago for further assessments, might miss the remainder of the current season.

Benza, who was converted to a wide role diverging from his traditional target man position by his uncle —Herentals coach Paul Benza, is relishing the prospect of bigger challenges ahead.

“It’s been a good challenge for me, being in a different environment with high competition and expectations. Initially, it was tough, but I’m starting to enjoy the challenge and new experience,” said Tino.

“Everything looks promising at the moment. I’m grasping what’s required to succeed in Europe,” he added.

Herentals coach (Paul) Benza is confident Tino will break the European ceiling.

“We are just expecting the best from him because the club is still searching for that first player who will make a foreign breakthrough,” Paul said.

Los Blancos Post Narrow Win

Carlo Ancelotti’s side followed a fantastic first half with a poor second, and were perhaps fortunate to run out winners

Real Madrid started in style before finishing in uncertainty in a tense 3-2 win over Alaves. For 45 minutes, Los Blancos were rampant, the Vinicius Jr-Kylian Mbappe-Rodrygo trio purring to give the home side a 3-0 lead. But two late Alaves goals made things interesting – and almost saw Carlo Ancelotti’s men collapse.

The Madrid opener came from an unlikely source, Lucas Vazquez sweeping Vinicius’ cutback into the bottom corner. Mbappe made it two shortly before half time, a quick interchange with Jude Bellingham leading to an easy finish for Los Blancos’ big summer signing.

Rodrygo scored the third shortly after half time, sliding one through the keeper’s legs after far too easily evading two Alaves defenders. Endrick came close to adding a fourth within minutes of entering the fray, his deflected shot pinging off the post.

Alaves stuck around, though. Carlos Protesoni grabbed the first, curling one off the post from outside the box. Veteran Kike Garcia added a second two minutes later, setting up a nervy finish. Los Blancos held on, though, some smart defending securing a win that turned out to be far from easy.

Zanu PF Unrolls 2028 Election Strategy

Chigumba Confirms ZEC Complicit In Perennial Election Rigging

By Political Reporter-The head of the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC), Justice Priscilla Chigumba, has dropped a bombshell by admitting that Zimbabwe’s elections are consistently rigged.

Ndau Festival Unites Chipinge Against Political Violence & Climate Change

By Political Reporter-Chipinge, known for its resilience, is harnessing the power of the Ndau Festival of the Arts (NDAFA) to promote peace and counter the devastating effects of climate change.

Last week, the Chipinge community gathered in Bangira village, ward 18, under Chief Musikavanhu, to celebrate their annual cultural event, focusing on how arts and tradition can foster peace and reconciliation in the face of modern challenges.

The festival, held in conjunction with the International Day of Peace, has evolved beyond just cultural displays into a vital space for dialogue on gender justice, environmental preservation, and peaceful coexistence.

Phillip Kusasa, one of the NDAFA founders.

This year’s theme, Women Museums: Inspiring Communities Through Feminine Biographies, paid tribute to the often-overlooked contributions of women in Chipinge’s socio-economic development.

“The 2024 theme was inspired by the long-standing patriarchal dominance in our community. This event is our way of celebrating both women and men who have contributed to the peace we enjoy today,” said Phillip Kusasa, one of NDAFA’s founders.

Kusasa emphasised the festival’s role in reclaiming the cultural legacy of female icons like Mbuya Joyce Simango, whose literature has reinvigorated the Ndau language and culture.

Female artists such as Flight Mlambo, Esnath, and Tariro Mhlanga also showcased their talents, elevating the platform for women in the arts.

Since its inception in 2013, NDAFA has been instrumental in documenting Ndau Indigenous Knowledge Systems (IKS), which promote both environmental sustainability and climate resilience.

Mr. Claris Madhuku, Director of the Platform for Youth and Community Development Trust (PYCD), praised the festival’s efforts:

“The Ndau Festival has elevated the role of traditional wisdom, helping communities combat both violent conflicts and the climate crisis.”

Chipinge, a district deeply scarred by political violence and the aftermath of disasters such as Cyclone Idai, has relied on its indigenous knowledge to navigate these challenges.

NDAFA has become a beacon of hope for uniting people in the face of electoral conflicts, tribal tensions, and climate emergencies.

In his speech, UN Secretary-General António Guterres emphasised the dangers of disinformation and climate change, themes resonating deeply with NDAFA’s goals.

The Ndau Festival has successfully woven together threads of tradition, culture, and activism, positioning itself as a crucial platform for peace and climate resilience in Zimbabwe.

Manicaland Provincial Affairs Minister Misheck Mugadza graced the event.

Selmor Mutukudzi Opens Up About the Pain of Grief on Stage

Grief is not a straight line, nor is it a process that moves forward in predictable steps. Rather, it’s more like a wave—rising and falling with its own rhythm, sometimes calm and sometimes crashing down unexpectedly.

Many of us have been led to believe in the concept of “closure,” as if there’s a point where we finish grieving and move on. But closure, in the context of loss, is more of a myth than a reality. Grief isn’t a business deal you can close, nor a journey with a clear destination. It’s a part of life that ebbs and flows, often when we least expect it.

Selmor Mtukudzi, daughter of the legendary Zimbabwean musician Oliver Mtukudzi, embodies this truth. Her experience of grief highlights the complexity and depth of mourning a loved one, particularly when the grief is tied to unresolved family dynamics and public expectations.

When Selmor took the stage at the Oliver Mtukudzi International Festival of the Arts, performing at the Pakare Paye Arts Centre—a stage built by her father—it was the first time in seven years that she had been allowed to perform there.

Those seven years were filled with bottled-up grief, emotions held back, and perhaps a yearning for resolution that never came.
Grief isn’t just about missing someone; it’s also about the unresolved feelings that linger long after the loved one has passed.

For Selmor, it wasn’t just about mourning her father; it was about mourning the loss of connection, of opportunities denied, and of relationships left broken.

Performing her father’s soul-searching song Changu Chii was more than a tribute—it was a plea, an outpouring of all the unspoken emotions she had buried for years.
As she stood on that stage, Selmor reflected on her father’s legacy, thanking him for creating a platform like Pakare Paye, but also lamenting that the dreams he had for his family weren’t being realized. In front of a large audience, she asked, “Kusvika rinhi muchindirwira? Ndosvika rinhi ndisingakwanise kuita semwana waMtukudzi?” (“Until when will I be hindered? Until when will I not be able to live as Mtukudzi’s child?”) It was a public acknowledgment of the deep familial rift that had overshadowed her grief—an open wound in her heart.

Grief, like the sea, can appear calm on the surface, but underneath there are strong undercurrents, ready to surge up with the slightest change in emotional winds.

For Selmor, performing on that stage was like navigating the rough waters of her grief. On the outside, she had carried on for years, but standing in the place her father built, the emotions she had repressed for so long came rushing to the surface. The stage became a place not only of performance but also of catharsis—a place where she could no longer suppress the tidal wave of pain that had been building inside her.

When we lose a loved one, especially someone who played a central role in our lives, the grief can become intertwined with other unresolved issues—things left unsaid, conflicts never resolved. For Selmor, the situation was even more complex because her stepmother, Daisy Mtukudzi, had barred her from the very place that represented her father’s legacy. These family dynamics, full of tension and exclusion, only deepened her grief. It wasn’t just her father she was mourning; it was also the relationship she might have had with him if things had been different.

Social media buzzed with reactions to Selmor’s emotional breakdown on stage. People had their own interpretations, opinions, and judgments about her public display of vulnerability. But what many failed to understand is that grief is not something that can be controlled or timed. It can come crashing in at the most unexpected moments—just like a wave that appears out of nowhere on a calm sea.

Grief is a deeply personal experience, and it often resurfaces in the places and moments we least anticipate. For Selmor, it was standing on the stage her father built—a place that should have been full of joyful memories but had instead become a symbol of her exclusion and pain.

Her performance that day was not just an act of artistic expression; it was a release of the emotional weight she had carried for so long.
At its core, grief is not something that can be resolved or “fixed.” It is something we carry with us, and though time may soften its edges, it never fully disappears.

There may be days when the sea of grief is calm, and other days when the waves come crashing in. For Selmor, standing on that stage, the wave of grief crashed down hard, reminding us all that grieving is a continuous process—not a linear one, but one filled with moments of quiet reflection and unexpected emotional storms.

We may think we have crossed the mythical line of closure, but the reality is that grief never truly ends. It becomes part of who we are, shaping us, challenging us, and sometimes catching us off guard.

Like Selmor, we all have moments when the emotions we thought we had buried rise up, reminding us that grief is a journey without a final destination—an ocean of memories, pain, and love that we will continue to navigate for the rest of our lives.

Several Injured In Karoi Horror Crash

By Crime and Court Reporter- Police (ZRP) has confirmed the number of people injured in a fatal road traffic accident that occurred on Wednesday morning along the Harare–Chirundu Road.

In a statement, the ZRP reported that one person was killed and fifteen others injured when a Bolt Cutter bus, carrying thirty passengers, collided with the trailer of a Columbia Freight Liner Truck that was turning right onto the Harare–Chirundu Road from the Buffalo Downs truck stop.
The impact caused the bus to veer off the road, overturning and landing on its left side.
The body of the deceased was taken to the Karoi Hospital mortuary for a post-mortem, while the injured people were admitted to the same hospital.
There is a discrepancy regarding the number of injured persons, as the police reported fifteen injuries, while Hurungwe district development coordinator and chairperson of the Civil Protection Unit, Andrew Tizora, initially stated that eighteen individuals were injured.

Of those, four were transferred to Chinhoyi Provincial Hospital due to the severity of their injuries. Tizora said that fourteen others are currently admitted at Karoi District Hospital and are reported to be in stable condition.

Tino Benza Eyes Move To Europe

Fix Your Brakes For Efficiency

Top Mnangagwa Spy Caught Pants Down

Michael Phineas Sikanyika

By Letter To The Editor: Please help me make our community aware of this womanising monster. His name is Michael Phineas (Sikanyika). He was an intelligence officer until early this year when I heard he was promoted to deputy ambassador in the Netherlands. I’m not sure how accurate that post is. This man is a con artist and a womaniser, to say the least. I rented out my house to him, and I, too, fell victim to his lies and schemes. Simba, if I didn’t know better, I would say this man uses charms or witchcraft. Even when you are aware of his crooked behaviour, when he wants something from you, you find yourself giving it to him against your will. When he moved out, I honestly felt a weight lifted off of me. He carries a strange burden, and even the atmosphere in the house changes when he leaves.
I didn’t realise the extent of his fraudulent behaviour until people started coming after him. One person lost $3,000 after being promised he would use his rebate to import a car for them. Others were sold forms from the Ministry of Lands, promising land that didn’t exist. Double sales of stands. Women he used and defrauded money from were told that he was about to leave, and he paid for an advance ticket for them to join him. He is a serious womaniser. His wife even reached a point where she left for Poland just to escape the drama. Even after he got promoted, she refused to go and stay with him in the Netherlands because she’s tired. Sources close to her say she prefers to enjoy the benefits from a distance.
I gave him floor tiles worth $400 and never got my money. He targets women with money or those he thinks he can prey on. He took advantage of many people when he was the Officer in Charge (OI) in Bindura. I know where he is now, people will lose their money, being promised fake jobs, among many other things. I don’t even know how he got promoted to a diplomatic post. But please help me warn the world about this fraudulent monster and help those looking for him to locate him and bring him to justice. He ripped off so many people of their hard-earned money, especially considering the difficult situation in Zimbabwe. If you put out a post about him, you’ll see how the comment section will blow up. Many people who came looking for him said he used his position to intimidate them from reporting him. No one should be above the law, especially when it comes to defrauding people like he did.”
