EXCLUSIVE: Ginimbi Leaked VP Chiwenga’s Secret Files To Arrest Marry Mubaiwa.

Marry Chiwenga

PART 1 – By A Correspondent | The late socialite, Genius Kadungure, leaked Vice President Constantino Chiwenga’s secret plan to incriminate his wife, the nation’s estranged Second Lady has told ZimEye.

In the more than an hour long interview, Marry Chiwenga told ZimEye, her cousin Ginimbi as he was affectionately called, tried to warn her beforehand but she would not listen. This was during the few months before his sudden death in a car accident.

The development comes at a time when she is struggling to get medical treatment and has been deprived of her passport by the courts. She has among other allegations, been charged with attempted murder against her husband while nursing him in a South African hospital in July 2019, a year after the June 2018 White City bombing that got both her and her husband injured, though her health was the worst affected.

Marry Chiwenga also revealed a sequence of events that suggests the ZANU PF President Emmerson Mnangagwa has either betrayed or neglected her, or both (more details coming out this weekend).

Mrs Chiwenga said allegations that she tried to kill her husband are not true and they are even dismissed by the South African Intelligence Agency.

She said: “He (Chiwenga) had security in South Africa. I had my own security in South Africa.

“We had South Africans, the equivalent of CIO in South Africa looking after us, and the security are in shock, vanotiti isusu taikuchengetai ,[they see to us but we used to look after both of you], why were we not questioned as witnesses on this story?

“Because they were there with us the whole time. When I would enter the toilet, they would wait for me at the very door; when I would enter the room where the VP is, they would follow me, so they are right now asking why is it that we will not questioned on what happened? Why did they fail to ask us?

Then he (Chiwenga) says the witnesses are my own boys, my bodyguards; what else can the soldiers tell you? Can the soldiers run on their boss? They can’t,” Marry Chiwenga argued with ZimEye.

She continued explaining:

“I need you to see this for yourself imagine yourself you are told you are plotting to kill your husband on the 8th of July, then from the 8th of July you are with your husband every single day, feeding him, then on the 21st of July you take him to the airport.

“Then from no where you are now being told from the blues you are now being accused of attempted murder against your husband, and of course you are troubled by it and you say hey that’s **it, there is nothing like that,” she said.

It was at this point that Mrs Chiwenga began speaking about Genius Kadungure. She said:

“My cousin even told me, the one who passed away, Genius.

“He said to me: mother, mother there is this report I am hearing, it is being said that there was a time when you tried to kill Mudhara, and I dismissed it saying that these are the things that people who are full of bitterness say; but he insisted saying I was told by *”*wa(name redacted), and she [the latter] was told by some boys in the CIO.

“I dismissed it saying there is nothing like that don’t you know that people can just talk anything anyhow?

“And he replied me saying: if you say so mother, but this is what I have been told, and as someone who loves you dearly I said let me tell you so that I do not retain this information. ”

Mudenda Not Suitable To Continue As Speaker Of Parliament

JACOB MUDENDA

By Zceo President Paddington Japa Japa | The President of one of Zimbabwe,s largest Civic Society Organisation, the Zimbabwe Centre For Equal Opportunities (ZCEO) and MDCA National Executive and National Council Member, Mr Paddington Japa Japa has called on Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa to immediately remove Jacob Mudenda as the Speaker of Parliament of Zimbabwe.

Paddington-Japajapa

Jacob Mudenda has displayed the highest level of incompetence, unprofessional behaviour, failure to interpret the Parliamentary Statutes, Procedures and highest level of Bias towards one Party, to which he is a Politburo Member.Jacob Mudenda is a Zanu Pf Politburo Member hence he cannot be the Speaker of the Zimbabwean Parliament, which is suppose to be Occupied by MPS from various Political Parties.A good example i can give is like a Well known Dynamos Soccer Supporter who is qualified as a referee, being Appointed by Zifa to referee a Match between Caps United and Dynamos, imagine what will happen when his team is about to loose a Cup final in the dying minutes of a Cup game, that referee is bound to award a last minute Penalty to the team he loves so much.

This is what is exactly happening at the Zimbabwean Parliament which is being presided over by a Speaker who is a Politburo Member of the ruling Zanu Pf Party. We have observed as Zimbabweans in general how Jacob Mudenda display openly his biased chairing of Parliamentary Debates, were he treats Members of Parliament from the Opposition MDCA like School kids.I have noticed during debating, once MPS from especially MDCA are making brilliant contributions, which exposes Corruption, poor Governance, dictatorship against Zanu Pf leadership and Government Ministers, the Speaker quickly rush to order the MP as being out of Order and to sit down,or displaying unParliamentary behaviour,in some instances ordering the Member to be escorted out of the August House by the Surgent in Arms. But when Zanu Pf MPS are making useless debates and Heroe Worshipping the Zanu Pf President in Parliament, they are allowed to continue with their Drama and Circus.I have noticed this on several occasions during live debates in Parliament.Jacob Mudenda excercises dectatorial tendencies in the House in most cases against MDCA MPS.

In a pure act of highest level of unprofessional behaviour by a Speaker of Parliament, who calls himself an advocate of law,who is Registered by the Law Society of Zimbabwe to fail to undertake due diligence work of simply verifying and correctly identifying a genuine or fake Secretary General of a small Political Party is the highest level of incompetence which warrants immeadiate removal of anyone who occupies that very important Position, of Speaker of Parliament.Speakers of Parliament hold very, very important positions in various Governments the World over, and in my life i have never seen such biased Chairing of Parliamentary business in the manner Jacob Mudenda does.

One good example of how unprofessional and unsuitable Jacob Mudenda is when it comes to professional handling of Parliament ary business, is the recent case which involved the recall of five PDP MPS, Hon Tendai Biti Harare East,Hon William Madzimure Kambuzuma,Hon Settlement Chikwinya Mbizo,Hon Kucaca Ivumile Phulu Nkulumane,Hon Sichelesile Mahlangu Pumula and Hon Regai Tsunga Mutasa South Constituncies by a bogus Political masquerade called Benjamin Rukanda. This Masquerade just picked up an old ruled newsprint paper and was assisted to draft a recall letter by a Political reject called Ms Matibenga, who claims to be a President of the little known disbanded, insignificant People Democratic Party PDP.Surprisingly the unprofessional biased so called Speaker of the Circus called Parliament of Zimbabwean quickly acknowledged and accepted that Scribbled piece of untyped letter, which recalled the 6 Honourable Members of Parliament of the People, and not the Circus which we see at the once vibrant and lively Parliament Building situated at Corner Nelson Mandela and Kwameh Nkruma Street.

Jocob Mudenda is notoriously known for accepting those untyped scribbled recall letters from any Zimbabwean even street kids, like he has always done ever since, after the Con Court ruling that legally stole the Zimbabwean Electorate,s Parliamentary and Council Votes and Seats from MDCA,gave them freely to Mwonzora/ Khupe,s MDCT Cabal who have onwardly donated the same to Mnangagwa,s Zanu Pf.

Jacob Mudenda does not care to check, inquire or verify correctly if those People who write the recall letters are genuine bona fide Members of the Political Parties they claim to represent. Mudenda is alleged to get his instructions from Zanu Pf whose interests he serves as Speaker of Parliament and Politburo Member. He has accepted Dozens of MDCA MPS recall letters from Mwonzora against the will of the electorate who voted those MPS into Parliament.Mudenda has humiliated openly by the Justice Amy Tsanga High Court Order that established that Benjamin Rukanda had no legitimate claim to be Secretary General of the little known PDP.The Masquerade made an Appeal at the same Court before a different Judge this time Tawanda Chitapi who again dismissed Rukanda,s Appeal as failing to comply with the rules.

Therefore it is now very clear and has been proved beyond reasonable doubt by two Competent High Court Judges that Jacob Mudenda does not Qualify to hold the Office of Speaker of Parliament of Zimbabwe, because he is not well conversant and acquainted with the Laws that Govern the running of Parliamentary Business.

Marry Opens Up On Fallout With Chiwenga, “Mnangagwa Called Me”

Marry Chiwenga says her relationship with Vice-President Constantino Chiwenga collapsed during the time he was seeking treatment in China between July and November 2019 and their estrangement came like a bolt out of the blue.

Speaking to a local news organisation, Marry revealed that Chiwenga was airlifted to China from South Africa on 21 July where he underwent treatment at a top Beijing hospital.

Marry, who was with Chiwenga while he was hospitalised in South Africa, received a phone call from President Emmerson Mnangagwa informing her that she could not travel with the vice-president to China.

She said Mnangagwa told her that there was room for only six people, namely Chiwenga, his doctor John Mangwiro, a nurse assistant and his aides.

The former model said Chiwenga cut communication with her in August, without giving an explanation even though their relationship had been good until the time.

Marry revealed that before China, Chiwenga had been moved to the intensive care unit at a South African hospital after he had experienced a fit and his blood pressure shot up. She said:

The President called me a few hours before my husband was set to leave for China and said President Xi (Chinese President Xi Jinping) had suggested that my husband gets medical attention in China and that 12 professors were waiting to attend to him.

He however said only six people should come, including him, his doctor, the assistant nurse and the security team.

I even asked why I was not included, and the President said I would go at a later time as President Xi had suggested that my husband should come and get attended to before I can join him.

I insisted that I needed to go, but I was told the plane was already waiting and those that required visas had them already.

So I guess it had been planned for some time, but I had just not been told. I however did not require a visa because I had a diplomatic passport.

When my husband left for China, I came back the next day on 22 July, on my birthday.

The President sent a jet to get me from South Africa. When my husband was in China, we were talking but things suddenly changed in August. How? I do not know.

When I tried to talk to him, his doctor Mangwiro would answer the call and say he is sleeping or that I was stressing him.

I guess whatever had been planned had started working.

When Chiwenga returned from China in November 2019, Marry was arrested on allegations of attempting to murder him and money laundering. She is currently on remand.

The two had been married for 10 years and have three children.

‘Roora Squad Story And Social Media Hype Built On A Lie’

After days of gossiping and hashtagging of the “roora Squad” on various social media platforms, concerning a truth or dare game that supposedly exposed the bride’s paternity secrets, it has since emerged that the whole drama was a lie made to discredit the happy union between the lovebirds, Hastings and Plaxedes.

One of the friends at the centre of the roora squad drama says the whole furore was sparked by a lie.

Tariro Shiri said there never a truth or dare or a drinks party.

She told Tatelicious in a phone conversation that the initial post that set social media on fire was false.

“That post was paid for and it’s a lie. We reached out to Julie (who posted it) and she said she cannot take it down because she was paid.” Tariro said she did not know who paid Julie for the lie.

She revealed that a DNA test had not been done on Hastings and Plaxedes’s son. Hastings has said he will release a statement once DNA tests are completed. Tariro did not want to talk about the state of Hastings and Plaxedes marriage. “They are not saying much,” she said. She also said she did not know why the couple needed to do a DNA test.

Tariro said she had received death threats with many suspecting she was the one that leaked the ‘secrets’. She reached out to Hastings and Plaxedes “as this was turning into an issue about me.”

They are both staying out of social media for now. Tariro said reports that the Rwizi and Dube families were meeting this weekend was also a lie.

Pastor Molests Congregant In Church Office After Late Night Prayer

A Rusape pastor Kindness Tashu stand accused of molesting a member of his flock- who is a minor after late night prayers in his office.

A report was lodged at Rusape Police Station referenced CR25/04/21. Pastor Tashu, who leads an AFM assembly, denied the allegations stating that he did not molest the girl although he conducted the prayer sessions.

He claimed the story was a gimmick to tarnish him because of factional fights within the church.

“This thing is a plot. A lot of church politics is at play. The accusations are influenced by factions. They want to tarnish my name in the community and they are simply fighting me.

“On the mentioned day, I just took her for prayer sessions. These people are not real members of the church. They are fuelling church factions and nothing else. All these are fabrications and I will prove myself in court,” Pastor Tashu said.

Speaking to H-Metro, the brother of the alleged victim said: “The pastor molested the girl during a prayer session.

“He is in our neighbourhood and he took advantage of the fact that all other family members were away except my sister.

“My mom had left the pastor’s wife as the guardian of the girl during the family’s absence. The pastor tricked the girl into late prayers in an attempt to sleep with her after cell groups. On the day, the pastor called her to his office and prayed for her more than five times. He then told the girl he wanted to teach her how to handle a man in bed.

“It is then that he pushed the girl towards the walls and started fondling her. This happened after 10:30pm when other family members were already asleep at the pastor’s house.

“We have lodged a report at Rusape Police Station for indecent assault. We tried to discuss the issue with him to hear his side of the story and he was so defensive claiming that we don’t understand how the spiritual realm works.

“After that we then reported to the police station,” the brother said. Pastor Tashu who leads an AFM assembly denied the allegations stating that he only made prayer sessions with the girl and did not molest the girl.

He claimed the story was a gimmick made to tarnish him and due to factional fights within the church.

“This thing is a plotted thing, a lot of church politics is at play. The accusations are influenced by factions. They want to tarnish my name in the community and they are simply fighting me.

ZESA In Another Shocking Tariff Hike Move

By A Correspondent- Zesa has applied for a new tariff in what it said was a bid to boost its operations

This was revealed by the Zimbabwe Energy Regulatory Authority (Zera) chief executive officer Mr Eddington Mazambani at a breakfast meeting organised this morning in Harare which was meant to introduce journalists to the new board announced by Government early this year.

The exact tariff being sought by Zesa will be confirmed soon.

While industrialists are concerned that a new tariff would affect their operations, it is felt that Zesa urgently requires a tariff review given that it is presently “incapacitated”.

Zera board chair Dr David Madzikanda told journalists during the same event that Zesa does not have vehicles and required personnel as it cannot afford to pay decent salaries to competent staff due to a low tariff.

Mnangagwa Abandons Mansion

CONSTRUCTION work at President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s multi-million-dollar, yet unsightly, house at the corner of Crowhill and Wheeldon roads in Borrowdale suburb has stalled, three years after it commenced, The NewsHawks has reported.

This means taxpayers’ funds have been wasted on a property that Mnangagwa may no longer be keen on living in. The hideous property was being built as part of his state package. Usually the President and vice-presidents are given state properties to live.

A big house is being built for Vice-President Constantino Chiwenga at Carrick Creagh Estate in Borrowdale. Former Vice-President Kembo Mohadi now lives on Folyjon Crescent in Glen Lorne suburb, Harare.

Mnangagwa moved out of his house in Helensvale, Borrowdale, in Harare after security concerns were raised as it was felt that the residence was not well protected. This prompted government to speed up renovations at the President’s spacious residence.

However, Mnangagwa later relocated from 355 El Shaddai Road in Helensvale to Zimbabwe House, opposite State House.

Meanwhile, renovations were being done at his property opposite to flamboyant local tycoon Philip Chiyangwa’s sprawling house, dubbed the White House after the United States’ official presidential workplace and residence, the White House, at 1 600 Pennsylvania Avenue NW in Washington, DC.

Mnangagwa Mansion in Harare Inside the House

A visit to the property showed that construction has virtually stopped. This has raised questions on whether the president is happy at Zimbabwe House, abandoned the project or has identified a bigger piece of land to construct another home.

The issue has also raised concerns about the waste of taxpayers’ money building a massive house – that looks nondescript from outside  – which is later abandoned.

After the 2017 military coup, government bought houses for all members of the presidium with Chiwenga settling for a property located along Manombe Close in Carrick Creagh Estate, Borrowdale.

Latest On Boy (16) Who Raped, Killed Aunt

A 16-year-old boy from Beitbridge East who allegedly attacked his 53-year-old aunt with a log and then raped her while she bled badly from the head before stealing R1 700, has been remanded in custody to May 13.

The boy, who cannot be named for professional reasons, was not asked to plead to rape and murder charges when he appeared before Beitbridge resident magistrate Mr Toyindepi Zhou on Wednesday.

Charges are that the accused killed Maria Gumbo on Friday last week between 7am and 2pm in Fula Village.

The State led by Mr Cloudios Karinga said the teen attacked the woman some 500 metres away from her homestead, after which he raped her and stole R1 700 before disappearing.

The court further heard that Gumbo’s remains were discovered lying in a pool of blood by her elder sister around 2pm.
She then informed other villagers and the matter was reported to police.

Mr Karinga said Gumbo had four deep cuts on the head and her body was found lying face down.

Police recovered two blood-stained logs next to the corpse and there was evidence of some struggle, 50 metres away from where the body was found.

Mr Karinga said police also recovered the woman’s undergarments 30 metres from where she had been killed.

The accused, who went into hiding after the alleged offence, was apprehended by members of the community who handed him to the police on Sunday.-Chronicle

Bullying Rocks Popular High School

MUTARE Boys’ High School has been rocked by a bullying scandal involving some prefects who allegedly forced junior pupils to conduct dehumanising acts.

The incident which was captured on video by one of the bullies has since gone viral on social media and authorities in the education sector have promised to get to the bottom of the issue and bring the culprits to book.

Parents have also come out guns blazing accusing the school authorities, particularly the school head, Mr Tendai Zachariah Gwashu, of trying to conceal the issue to protect the school’s image.

Repeated efforts to get a comment from Mr Gwashu were fruitless as he was reported to be out of office.

Manicaland Provincial Education Director (PED), Mr Edward Shumba, confirmed the incident and urged school authorities to be on the lookout for such incidents.

“The deplorable incident is under investigations and appropriate legal recourse will be taken. This is disturbing and headmasters should be on the lookout for such cases,” he said.

Parents interviewed said the incident is sad and unacceptable.

“I have a son at that school and I learnt about the case with great concern. This is unacceptable and I strongly believe that if it wasn’t for the video leak we were never going to know of what has been going on there,” said a disgruntled parent who requested anonymity.

“Instead of leading by example, the prefects are chief perpetrators of abuse and this is very sad. The relevant authorities should do something to make sure that our children are not subjected to any kind of abuse.”

Another parent said: “We are deeply saddened. It is traumatising and unbelievable. Imagine how these children will be psychologically affected.

“This is an eye-opener. It is highly likely that there are more issues of this nature happening in various schools. Action must be taken as soon as possible. Already a WhatsApp group of parents who are deliberating on what can be done over the issue has been created.” – Manica Post

Tractor Driver Brutally Murdered In Suspected Ritual Act

IN a suspected case of ritual murder, the body of a 57-year-old tractor driver who had been missing for five days was found with a deep cut on the head.

His eyes were also missing.

The remains of Grey Chirimo, who was employed by Allied Timbers, were recovered in Nyangani Dam after he had disappeared with the tractor he was driving when he was last seen.

The tractor was found by members of the police sub-aqua unit two days before his body was discovered in Nyangani Dam. Allied Timbers had to hire a crane to retrieve the tractor from the dam.

Police confirmed the gory murder and said investigations were in progress.

It is alleged that Chirimo knocked off duty at an Allied Timbers Estate in Mutasa on April 14 and went to the workshop to park the tractor.

“The following day, Justin William Matanga saw a trailer which was stuck on a tree. There were tractor tyre marks leading to Nyangani Dam.

“A spirited search by the sub-aqua unit failed to recover Chirimo’s body. It was later found floating in Nyangani Dam on April 21. There was a deep cut on his head, with his eyes missing,” said Manicaland provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Luxson Chananda.

In a separate incident, a dispute over pieces of gold ended tragically after a 27-year-old Nyanga man gruesomely murdered his brother following a beer binge.

The siblings — Samuel and Simudzai Sokiri (31) — could not agree on how to share the two grammes of gold they had panned in Nyamutongere, Mozambique.

The murder occurred in Chimusasa Village under Chief Katerere.

Samuel vanished soon after committing the heinous crime and is still at large.

“Samuel, Simudzai and their friends — Aloise Nyamatanga and Freddy Mukonowamwere — were drinking beer at Chimusasa Business Centre when an altercation ensued between the two brothers. They started fighting and Samuel hit Simudzai.

“The latter fell to the ground and lost consciousness. The other three men left him there and proceeded home.

“Kembo Chimusasa later saw Simudzai and took him home. Unfortunately, he died the same night.

“We are appealing to members of the public with information leading to Samuel’s arrest to contact their nearest police station,” said Insp Chananda.- Manica Post

Zanu Pf MP Fingered In Headlands Farm Wrangle

By A Correspondent- A Headlands based farmer Dakarai Mapuranga has accused Zanu-PF youths of being used by local MP Christopher Chingosho to fight him over his Mhandara Farm.

The Zanu-PF youths in Headlands have written a letter of appeal to Manicaland Provincial Affairs minister Nokuthula Matsikenyeri against the allocation of the farm to Mapuranga, claiming he does not have an offer letter.

In the letter of appeal, the youths said Mapuranga was using his “corrupt riches” to grab the farm.

“We (Zanu-PF youths from Headlands constituency) invaded Mhandara Farm during the protracted land reform programme, leading to the forceful eviction of the white former farmer. We object to the unfair allocation of Mhandara Farm to Dakarai Mapuranga,” the letter read.

The letter was signed by Zanu-PF constituency youth secretary Aphia Ingilesi, among other youth top leaders.

“He is using lawyers and the courts to take over the farm. There are poor farm workers who have been always at the farm and using it as their home and have nowhere else to go, the youths who had invaded the farm and were promised that they would be resettled there when government,” the youths wrote.

“The plan was that the resettled youths would use the farm shop which Mapuranga is renting as a youth co-operative shop. The youths were persuaded by the then responsible (Lands) minister, Didymus Mutasa, who also had hidden deals with Mapuranga to go back to their homes and then come back when the farm has been planned for resettlement.

“Meanwhile, Mapuranga would be using the farm under Platinum Company. This has always been the promise. All the previous Manicaland Provincial Affairs ministers such as Mandiitawepi Chimene and the late national heroine Ellen Gwaradzimba promised the youths that Mhandara Farm will be subdivided into small pieces of land for resettlement by the youths.”

However, Mapuranga in interview with NewsDay Weekender shot back, accusing the local MP of using the youths to fight him.

Mapuranga said Chingosho believed that he wanted his position and was setting up the youths to destroy the production at the farm.

“I have been at the farm since 2007, and I will remain a Zanu-PF member. Currently, I am an ordinary member. On the issue of the farm, I know the person who is behind the youths’ motive. This is MP Christopher Chingosho,” Mapuranga said.

“You are not the first one to get the letter (of appeal). MP Chingosho believes that I want his position in 2023. Tell him not to panic, he should relax, I don’t want to be an MP. I am focusing on farming and other issues.”

NewsDay Weekender is in position of an offer letter given to Mapuranga under Platinum Agriculture (Pvt) Ltd on December 14, 2006 by Mutasa.

Chingosho was not picking calls for a comment.

Bulawayo Council Bosses Steal 3,000 Litre of Petrol

Bulawayo City Council (BCC) senior executives allegedly helped themselves to 3 000 litres of diesel originally allocated for refuse collection, road maintenance and other crucial services, it has emerged.
Ironically, the local authority repeatedly claims its service delivery efficacy is hampered by fuel shortages.

The alleged diversion of the fuel came to light after BCC acting director of road workshops Dalithemba Sibanda appeared before an internal disciplinary board instituted by Makhosi Tshalebwa, the BCC human capital director last week.

The diverted diesel was part of the 20 000 litres specially procured for service delivery between December last year and February this year. The fuel was delivered and stored at the Khami Rd Main Stores.

“Between January 11 and February 26 this year, the accused person issued several requisitions to Stores instructing the Stores Controller to issue fuel to fuel tankers that were purportedly said to belong to Asphalt Products (Pvt) Ltd, a contractor that had won the contract to undertake road works in the city,” a BCC source said.

“In February this year, the contractor ran out of fuel before completion of the project and was asked why he could not complete the works as per the contract after having been paid in advance and he explained that he had not received fuel and was expecting 10 000 litres,” the source said.

The source further said an internal audit was carried out, which recommended that Sibanda should explain the discrepancy.

“He failed to give a satisfactory answer, resulting in his suspension pending disciplinary hearing. In the hearing Sibanda apologised and explained that when he did this, he was under the direct instructions from his superiors (Town clerk Christopher Dube and Engineering Services director Simela Dube) and as such believed what he was doing was above board.”

BCC town clerk Dube declined to comment on the matter for fear it could jeopardise investigations.

“The matter is still under investigation. I cannot comment before due processes are conducted and concluded. We have to allow due processes to take place,” Dube said.

However, the Affirmative Action Group (AAG) hit out at the council for not reporting the matter to the police as the black empowerment lobby group accused city fathers of aiding corruption.

“What is surprising in this case is that no police report was made and Sibanda despite being found guilty got away with a written warning,” AAG chief executive officer Denzel Sita said.

The Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission last year launched an investigation into council operations from reports of graft involving councillors and management.

The probe led to the arrest of a council director. -Zimbabwe Independent

Zimbabwe Needs “Young And Vibrant Leaders” – Great Minds Discuss Ideas And Idiots Are Obsessed With Age

By Patrick Guramatunhu- There are many, many reasons one can give why Zimbabwe is a Banana Republic, a pariah state, ruled by corrupt and tyrannical thugs and in a serious economic mess.

And, most despairing of all, at complete loss why the country is in such a mess much less how to climb out of the economic and political hell-on-earth the nation finds itself stuck in.
Number one on the list of reason why Zimbabwe is a Banana Republic and stuck there is the nation’s shocking inability to grasp detail.

There is a mountain of evidence from which one can easily identify why the country is in this political and economic mess but when one’s reading and grasp of the evidence is so shockingly shallow, almost childish, it is no surprise that the nation again and again gone off at a tangent.

“After almost two decades of a de facto one-party State in Zimbabwe’s post-colony, the new millennium’s arrival of the MDC coincided with citizens’ desperation for a new generation of leadership that is young and vibrant, which could meet their needs of a thriving economy,” argued Mawunganidze and Rinemhota, International Relations students at Africa University.

“Opposition parties give alternative policies that aggregate and respect minority interest; they are part and parcel of the nation-building exercise.

“Despite a challenging political environment in Africa, in general, and Zimbabwe in particular, the opposition parties’ critical role cannot be undermined.”

It is obvious that Mugabe and his Zanu PF cronies were themselves “young and vibrant” when they took over from the whites in 1980. Emmerson Mnangagwa and many of the Zanu PF leaders were in their 30s and 40s in 1980, the same age as their MDC challengers.

And yet the reason why the nation was so desperate to see the back of Zanu PF is because the country’s economic and political decline was already self-evident regardless of the party having “young and vibrant” leaders. Of course, having young and vibrant leaders is no panacea of political success and it is foolish to suggest so.

Indeed, there is a mountain of evidence proving that MDC “young and vibrant” leaders were completely outwitted by Zanu PF’s old geezers. It was Morgan Tsvangirai and his MDC friends who were given the task of implementing the democratic reforms and thus dismantle the de facto Zanu PF dictatorship. The had the golden opportunity to do this during the 2008 to 2013 GNU and yet failed to get even one reform implemented in five years.

Mugabe bribed the MDC leaders with the trappings of high office and the rest is history!
Our scholars, Mawunganidze and Rinemhota, and many others out there of the same persuasion, are ignoring the historic fact that MDC leaders have already proven beyond doubt that they are corrupt, incompetent and sell-outs. All these serious faults are trumped by the MDC leaders’ supreme virtue, “young and vibrant” the virtue of all virtues.

Of course, we are just arguing in circles since the MDC leaders had the virtue of virtue, youth and vigour during the GNU but it failed to stop them being outwitted. In other words our intellectuals are so shallow, thick and slow they are failing to see they are arguing in circles a fallacious argument.

By the same token Mnangagwa and his Zanu PF old geezers have failed to revive the country’s comatose economy. He cocksure his “Zimbabwe is open for business”! clarion call would open the flood gate of investors and kick start the comatose economy.

The 41 years has seen the Zanu PF leaders move from young and vibrant to the old geezers and the country’s economic trajectory has a steady decline throughout – proof age Zanu PF leaders were corrupt and incompetent in their youth and have so remained to old age!

If someone can be corrupt and incompetent in their youth, middle age and old age just as others can be competent and visionary in the youth, middle age and old age; it is self-evident age has nothing to do one’s competence or otherwise.

Why something that has become self-evident since the dawn of human civilisation, notably with the Greeks 2 500 years ago, is still an unfathomable mystery to Zimbabwean scholars like Mawunganidze and Rinemhota and a measure of just how shallow, thick and slow they are.

I must say Zimbabwe’s institutions of higher learning are notorious for chaining out Degree and PhD graduates and Professors who are very shallow, thick and slow. A consequence of Zanu PF’s obsession with quantity and disdain for quality.

“Strong minds discuss ideas, average minds discuss events, weak minds discuss people.” Said the Greek Philosopher Socrates, 2 500 years ago.

2 500 years latter, we in Zimbabwe have not even reached the level of “weak minds” discussing people. We have a fixation with age; “young and vibrant” is a virtue to be valued above people, events and ideas! It is no wonder we are not only in a political and economic mess but are stuck.

As long as we have an electorate that lacks the common sense to see being young and vibrant is not a virtue and guarantee for competent and quality leaders; there is no hope of Zimbabwe getting out of the mess we are in. None!

If great minds discuss ideas and weak minds discuss people then one has to say idiots have a fixation with the trivial and irrelevant issues such as age, gender, tribe, race, etc. The idiots are so obsessed with the trivial matters not even the benefit of thousands of years of human civilization has managed to open their eyes.

School Heads To Attend Indoctrination Lessons At Herbert Chitepo School Of Ideology

Tinashe Sambiri|Zanu PF has ordered school heads and civil servants in Masvingo Province to attend lessons at Herbert Chitepo School Of Ideology.

Below is a report compiled by former Masvingo Central MP, Jeffryson Chitando:

Chitepo School Of Ideology In Gutu!

“Reports coming in point out that all School Heads government department heads in Gutu District are absent from their workplaces attending indoctrination lessons at Herbert Chitepo School of Ideology.

Zanu PF is more concerned about oiling its election machine disregarding all COVID-19 lockdown regulations.

COVID-19 superspreader in this country is the reckless ZanuPF leadership.

It must be put to Mnangagwa and Zanu PF Politiburo that COVID-19 does not know political affiliation.

The school heads are likely to endanger the lives of school teachers and parents.

It seems Zanu PF is so afraid of MDC Alliance People’s President Nelson Nehemiah Chamisa that it is prepared to sacrifice people’s lives.

It’s for every Zimbabwean to see that Zanu PF has entered a new level of ” NEW DESPERATION” not the once preached New Dispensation.

Last year when high ranking ZanuPF members succumbed to COVID-19 people took social media to express their joy.

This was unAfrican , inhumane and below our Christian values. The sole reason which pushed Zimbabweans to do such was that ZanuPF held rallies, DCC elections and many meetings against lockdown regulations.

Pastor Molests Minor At Prayer Meeting At Prayer Meeting

Man Rapes Two Daughters

A 45-year-old Beitbridge man has been jailed for an effective 30 years for raping three juveniles aged between seven and nine years, among them, his two daughters.
The assailant of Dulivhadzimu Suburb denied four charges of rape but Beitbridge Regional Magistrate Ms Sithembiso Ndebele convicted him on the strength of the State evidence.

She slapped him with 15 years imprisonment for the first two counts, and another 15 years for count three and four.

The man was left with an effective 30 years to serve after the court ruled that the 15 years in the first two counts will run concurrently.

Prosecutor, Ms Tsitsi Mtukwa said the man abused his daughters aged eight and nine years in January last year. The court heard that the third minor was sexually abused on Christmas Day last year.

The matter came to light when he was arrested on a different charge on January 15 this year and his children were taken to a local children’s home where they later narrated their ordeal to social workers there. The other case was separately reported by the victim’s mother after he had raped her for the second time on January 6. -Chronicle

Patient Held For 10 Years

Her face is cheerless as she struggles to hold back tears in her glinting bloodshot eyes.

Ms Lousinonh Siziba is among 244 mental health patients detained at Mlondolozi Mental Health Prison for almost a decade awaiting competence evaluation by a mental tribunal board.

Over 400 inmates with mental illness have for the past 10 years been stuck at the Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Service (ZPCS) centres across the country following delays by the mental health board to review their condition for possible release.

Ms Siziba’s narrative is consistently engaging and filled with sorrow as it evokes memories from the past.

Ms Siziba (29) suffered from a mental illness called postpartum psychosis soon after giving birth in September 2013. Postpartum psychosis (or puerperal psychosis) is a rare and severe form of postnatal depression (PND).

With a rare mixture of honesty and compassion, Ms Siziba shares her own experiences with postpartum psychosis.

She reveals her painful experience, lack of emotional support from her boyfriend and complications f new motherhood, which led to her killing her seven-month-old baby.

Her encounter with PND, which she explores fearlessly, is harrowing. Ms Siziba’s story clearly illuminates the pain and shame she suffered upon giving birth.

“I got pregnant and gave birth in November soon after finishing writing my O-level examinations at Tennyson Hlabangana High School. I suffered from puerperal psychosis and got bitter because of what was happening in my life, including the complications with my boyfriend,” she said.

“He didn’t give me adequate emotional and material support during pregnancy and after giving birth and it really affected me psychologically, particularly knowing that I would not be proceeding to A-level.”

Ms Siziba said after seven months of giving birth, she killed her baby daughter. She was arrested and later taken to court on murder charges.

“On November 4, 2014, I was brought to the High Court, which was on circuit in Hwange and the judge found me not guilty and acquitted me. He retained a special verdict by reason of insanity and I was committed to Mlondolozi Mental Health Prison for treatment and rehabilitation.” she said.

Ms Siziba said it took her 12 months to fully recover from PND.

“It took me about a year to be stable because nurses and psychologists gave us counselling and occupational therapy. Rehabilitation officers also gave us tasks such as hairdressing, making mats and that really helped us a lot and I am perfectly fine now and ready for release,” she said.

“My family also played a significant role as they stood by me. I don’t think, I would have completely recovered without their support.

“My major concern is that despite my recovery, I have been stuck at Mlondolozi for about nine years now waiting for the board to sit and determine my case. Human rights lawyers, the Minister of Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs (Minister Ziyambi Ziyambi) and prison bosses visited us on several occasions and we told them about our plight, but nothing has happened to address our issue,” said Ms Siziba.

“At one time I thought of writing a petition to the President, but being someone perceived as mentally ill, I had second thoughts knowing that I wouldn’t be taken seriously. As mental patients, we feel we are treated like criminals and being discriminated yet this is not out of choice.”

Growing up in Jambezi, Matabeleland North, Ms Siziba said she had never suffered from mental health issues until she fell pregnant and gave birth.

“We are in this mental health institution and living with people convicted for various crimes, yet we are classified as mental patients. This is a painful experience considering that whenever there is amnesty, we are left out while others serving for similar offences, are released,” she said. Ms Siziba said her prolonged stay at Mlondlolozi while waiting for a tribunal to sit is likely to cause a relapse.

“Since I came here, I noticed that the board hasn’t sat. The Minister of Justice came here and we told him about our plight and he assured us that he would look into the issue, but nothing has been done to date. People always stigmatise mental patients,” said Ms Siziba.

She hopes that in the event that she gets released, she will either go back to school or utilise the skills she acquired at Mlondolozi to sustain herself.

ZPCS Commissioner-General Moses Chihobvu said the inmates’ fate lies in the hands of the mental tribunal board, as they are not eligible for amnesty in the absence of intensive assessment. He said the swelling number of the inmates is now straining the facilities and creating congestion.

Section 68 of the Mental Health Act provides for the establishment of mental health hospital boards.

The board of the institution is the first port of call where one’s case is reviewed for possible release. If satisfied that the patient can be released, it makes the necessary recommendations to the tribunal.

When the tribunal sits, it considers a patient’s case and then makes a final decision on whether to release the patient or order further detention.

Ingutsheni Hospital clinical director Dr Wellington Ranga said postpartum psychosis symptoms are similar to those of a bipolar, manic episode.

“Giving birth to a baby brings about many changes, and these can include changes in a new mom’s mood and emotions. Some women experience more than the normal ups and downs of the postpartum time period,” he said.

“Many factors play a role in postpartum mental health. During this time, the most severe end of the change spectrum is a condition known as postpartum psychosis, or puerperal psychosis.”

Dr Ranga said the condition causes a woman to experience symptoms that can be scary for her.

“She may hear voices, see things that aren’t reality, and experience extreme feelings of sadness and anxiety, violent thoughts, such as telling a mother to hurt her baby. These symptoms warrant emergency medical treatment,” he said.

Dr Ranga said symptoms vary, and can change rapidly. They can include high mood (mania), depression, confusion, hallucinations and delusions. “When you are thrown into the deep end you should have defence mechanisms to help you cope with situations likely to cause depression,” he said. “As a community we need to know how to defend ourselves mentally in the event of a traumatic situations without resorting to anything that is self-destructive.”

In terms of treatment, Dr Ranga said PND has two modalities where medication tablets and psychologist help are required.

“In the case of Siziba even when she gets better from PND, in the long run she will need a psychologist. Even when you get normal, but when you are later told that you killed your own son or daughter, you will be affected somehow psychologically,” he said.

Ms Jacqueline Nkomo, a local psychologist, said after delivery there are many things that take place, which affect a woman in terms of mental health.

“PND is caused by fluctuating hormone levels from the time you give birth up to day 10, but if you see it going beyond that period, it becomes an issue of concern. “What happens with PND is that each time you look at the child, you feel this anger or the person is always crying and they no longer take care of themselves,” she said.

According to the World Health Organisation it is estimated that one to two out of every 1 000 women experience postpartum psychosis after giving birth. The condition is rare and usually occurs within two to three days of delivery. -Chronicle

Asthma And Deep Breathing Exercises

Here’s everything you need to know about complementary, alternative, and natural remedies for asthma, including which ones doctors say may actually help with asthma symptoms.

Some complementary therapies may help manage asthma symptoms (and the stressors that can make symptoms worse). But experts say never substitute alternative therapies for medications and treatments prescribed by your doctor.iStock
If you have asthma, odds are you’ve come across products marketed as “natural remedies,” “complementary therapies,” or “alternative treatments” for asthma symptoms.

According to the National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health (NCCIH), complementary therapies involve using nontraditional practices in combination with traditional medicine, whereas alternative treatments are used instead of traditional medicine. “Natural remedies” can fall into one or both these categories.

As of 2012, more than 30 percent of American adults turned to complementary therapies or alternative medicine, per the NCCIH. So, clearly, they’re popular — but when it comes to asthma, are they safe to use?

Popular options advertised as “alternative treatments” with claims of enhancing symptom control aren’t automatically safe to use, says Anju Tripathi Peters, MD, a professor in the division of allergy, immunology, otolaryngology, and head and neck surgery at Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago.

It’s important to note right off the bat that certain things touted as potential remedies or complementary therapies for asthma, such as supplements, aren’t regulated in the same way prescription drugs are, and consumers should pay attention to the details of the research backing up any claims made, Dr. Peters says. For example, “Many have shown benefits in animals only,” Peters explains.

If you are going to try a “natural remedy” or complementary therapy for asthma, know that it’s not a substitute for your conventional asthma medication. “While some natural remedies may help, they should not replace the medications prescribed by someone’s doctor,” says Lakiea Wright, MD, a board-certified allergist and immunologist and an associate physician at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston.

Skipping prescribed medications can have dangerous consequences, according to Mayo Clinic.

If you’re wondering which approaches might help when it comes to asthma management, here’s what you should know.

Which Complementary Treatments for Asthma Have Evidence to Show They Work?
When it comes to natural and complementary treatment approaches for asthma with high-quality evidence to back up their use, exercise stands out as the intervention with the most data behind it. Although, per the American Lung Association, exercise can sometimes trigger asthma symptoms (known as exercise-induced bronchoconstriction), research has shown regular exercise when done safely can help improve asthma control, too.

“If we look at exercise training, there’s strong evidence that it improves cardiovascular fitness, and that it improves quality of life,” says David G. Hill, MD, the director of clinical research at Waterbury Pulmonary Associates in Connecticut and a member of the American Lung Association’s national board of directors.

A trial published in August 2019 in Scientific Reports found that for mild to moderate asthma, a 24-week exercise plan involving aerobic exercise for at least 30 minutes three times a week, plus strength-training and stretching, helped improve asthma control and reduced shortness of breath.

In another trial, published in October 2020 in the Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology, researchers found exercise helped improve asthma control when compared with breathing exercises among people with moderate to severe asthma.

Be sure to consult your doctor before beginning any exercise regimen to avoid exercise-induced asthma, says Dr. Wright. “Your doctor may recommend medications to help prevent attacks,” she says. And stop any activity if you become short of breath, begin to cough, or start to feel pain or tightening in your chest, states the American Lung Association.

On days when the air quality outdoors is unhealthy, it’s best not to break a sweat outside, the American Lung Association says.

Complementary Therapies for Asthma With Limited Evidence
The following four treatments have some promising research to support their use, but experts say more evidence is needed to conclusively say where they fit into asthma management.

Breathing Exercises
There are a number of different breathing techniques, including the Papworth method, the Buteyko technique, yoga breathing, and deep diaphragmatic breathing, all of which tend to focus on controlled nasal breathing. Can they help people with asthma?

Some evidence suggests breathing exercises may benefit people with asthma, says Hill. According to a meta-analysis published in March 2020 in Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews, moderate to very low certainty evidence suggests that breathing exercises improve lung function, symptoms related to hyperventilation — breathing that is heavier and quicker than normal — and overall quality of life for people with asthma.

A study published in October 2018 in the Indian Journal of Pediatrics suggests that breathing exercises may also help children with chronic mild to moderate asthma or uncontrolled asthma, but are less likely to help those with acute severe asthma. Researchers note that more research is needed before doctors can recommend breathing exercises as a standard treatment for children with asthma.

If your doctor gives you the go-ahead to try breathing exercises, the Global Allergy and Airways Patient Platform outlines some techniques you can try for asthma.

Ex-convict Becomes Pastor

TODAY he is a respected man of God and he makes no secret of his chequered past.

Ex-convict Edmose Hadebe (54), who was sentenced in 1991 to face the hangman’s noose before his death sentence was commuted to life imprisonment for murdering a fellow imbiber during a beer drink at Big Bhawa in Makokoba suburb in Bulawayo, became a pastor when he was set free in 2014.

Pastor Hadebe, who was arrested when he was 25 years, openly shared his stories and struggles with B-Metro, saying following his release after spending 26 years in prison, he left everything behind in prison and took with him a burning faith in God.

He said while in prison one day he got on his knees and asked Jesus to forgive him for his sins and fix his life. And that is when he decided to enroll for a Diploma in Theology as he knew God was already preparing him to spread His Word to both inmates and people outside prison. He is now a pastor at Praise and Worship Centre’s Mthombothemba branch, which covers Waterford suburb and How Mine area on the outskirts of Bulawayo.

A B-Metro news crew visited him at his home in Riverside suburb, where he exclusively narrated how God transformed his life during his 26-year stint in prison. He said he spent most of that time reading the Bible and studying the Bible with as many as 50 inmates, many of whom became Christians.

It came to light that before he served time for murder, Pastor Hadebe was a member of the Zimbabwe National Army and with his accomplices, during their drinking sprees, they abused the name of the armed forces by beating up people at Big Bhawa in Makokoba.

“Before I got arrested and served time for murder, I was a member of the Zimbabwe National Army and I was stationed at One Brigade (now Khumalo Barracks). With my friends, we loved to spend most of our time drinking beer at Big Bhawa in Makokoba.

“We abused our authority when we formed a group called ‘The Famous Three’ and it was notorious for assaulting people at this drinking spot,” he said.

He said it was rare for them to leave the drinking spot in question without picking a fight as they believed they were superior and stronger than their civilian counterparts.

“It was, however, unfortunate that one day we had a misunderstanding with another imbiber, who was also a friend of ours and at the height of the altercation we stabbed him several times before he fell on the ground.

When we realised that he was seriously injured we disappeared from the scene,” he reflects soberly. Pastor Hadebe said when news filtered the following day that that the person they had stabbed had died, it affected him since the fight had been triggered by a minor issue that they could have resolved amicably.

“The police hunted us down and I was the last person to be picked up. The matter was later referred to court. I languished in remand prison for more than a year before my imprisonment in 1991.

“I never thought the judge was going to be very hard on me as the murder was not an intentional killing. After a short stint in jail and while waiting for my turn to be hanged that is when I decided to repent and accept Jesus as my personal Saviour. For the three years I had been on death row I was praying to God everyday asking for mercy and protection. My prayers were answered when the death sentence was commuted to life imprisonment,” he said.

He said that is when he realised that God had bigger plans for him.

The Damascus moment
Pastor Hadebe said when he was transferred from Chikurubi Maximum Prison in Harare to Khami Remand Prison in Bulawayo, he met Dr Trust Sinjoki, general overseer of Praise and Worship Centre in Bulawayo and also the patron of Prison to Praise.

“While I was in prison, it was like Dr Sinjoki had adopted me to be his son as he started supplying me with stationery and books as I was now doing my Ordinary Level. With his support I managed to pass seven subjects and these are Ndebele, English, and Commerce, Accounts, Bible studies, History and Business Studies.”

He added: “That is when I decided to pursue a diploma in Theology. This idea was pushed by the life I was experiencing in prison. I have always kept positive and that’s how I keep going.”

Pastor Hadebe said with the support of Dr Sinjoki they managed to launch Prison to Praise, a programme to educate and enlighten inmates on the goodness of accepting Jesus as their Saviour.

“Under Prison to Praise we reached out to ex-inmates and those who are still serving and as we speak more than 10 pastors were ordained under this programme,” he said.

Hadebe said in 2014 he was part of prisoners who benefited under the Presidential Amnesty and this gave him an opportunity to re-unite with his family and preach the word of God.

“It was one of my prayers to find my parents still alive and as per my requests I found them still living. Upon my release from prison, I was given an exceptional reception by my church and it also supported my wedding. With the confidence they invested in me I was given a branch that I am currently leading.”

He appreciated the support he got from his family for nearly three decades while in prison cells. He said he got through all of these years behind bars by keeping the faith he’d be free one day. As advice to other ex-convicts, Pastor Hadebe said they should pray and work hard to ward off the possibility of them going back to jail.- B- Metro

Zesa Seeks Another Tariff Hike Approval

New Twist To Grace Mugabe’s PHD Saga

By A Correspondent- Fresh details on former first lady, Grace Mugabe’s PhD saga emerged in court during the continuation of former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Zimbabwe, Professor Levi Nyagura.

Grace Mugabe’s PhD sent tongues wagging with some saying she had not earned it, something that affected the reputation of the University of Zimbabwe, resulting in Nyagura being suspended.

Appearing before the courts as a witness, Surgent Chevo, who was the registrar at the UZ during that period, told the court that there were no irregularities in all processes up until Mugabe graduated with a PhD.

Responding to questions during a cross-examination session by Nyagura’s lawyer, Advocate Tawanda Zhuwarara, Chevo said the examination panel did an oral examination on Grace Mugabe at her children’s home and she passed.

He claimed:

As she was being asked questions by the examination panel during the oral examination at first she was shivering, but later calmed down and answered them satisfactorily.

After the oral examination the examination panel deliberated on Mugabe’s performance and all the members agreed unanimously that she had performed satisfactorily and that she be awarded a PhD degree.

He also exonerated Nyagura of the allegations that he gave him instructions that showed favour to Mugabe.

The second witness, senior lecturer Julius Musevenzi, recently told the court that there were documents showing that other university staff members took part in admitting Mrs Mugabe as a student.

It was also revealed through Advocate Zhuwarara’s cross-examination that there were university documents showing that Mrs Mugabe was conducting research and that progress reports were produced by Prof Mararike.

This comes after Dr Watch Ruparanganda, a senior official in the Department of Sociology at the UZ and also a witness in Nyagura’s trial told a Harare court that as a chair of the Department Grace was allegedly in, he should have been informed of Grace’s enrolment for a PhD.

Ruparanganda insinuated that the former first lady never enrolled for a PhD degree at the institution.

Helicopter Horror Crash-Air Force Defends Mnangagwa

By A Correspondent-The Air Force of Zimbabwe (AFZ) has defended President Emmerson Mnangagwa and said he did not ignore the funeral of the aircrew of the Agusta Bell 412 helicopter that crashed in the Hukuru Area in Arcturus, Mashonaland East Province last week.

Air Force said there were malicious reports from some sections of the media which it said were aimed to tarnish the image of the President as well as drawing a wedge between the families and the organisation.

The deceased crew comprised two pilots, Wing Commander Thomas Tinashe Manyowa and Flight Lieutenant Anita Mapiye and aircraft technician Flight Sergeant Tinodiwanashe Chikamhi.

In a statement yesterday, AFZ director Civil-Military Relations, Group Captain Valentine Sedze, said such reports were insensitive.

“The AFZ has noted with concern the malicious efforts by some elements of the media to drive a wedge between the organisation and families of the deceased crew after an AB412 helicopter accident last week,” he said.

“Such reports are not only malicious but insensitive as the AFZ and the families of the deceased are grappling to come to terms with the loss of the dearly departed crew.”

Grp Cpt Sedze said the AFZ provided the required support in terms of the appropriate defence regulations.

“In mourning the deceased after the unfortunate accident, the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces led by expressing his deepest condolences to the families of the deceased,” he said.

“Thereafter, the Minister of Defence and War Veterans Cde Oppah Muchinguri was accompanied by Commander AFZ, Air Marshal Elison Moyo and senior officers to pay condolences to all the families of the deceased.

“Since then, the AFZ has stood with the families by providing the required support in terms of the appropriate defence regulations.”
Grp Cpt Sedze said a funeral parade to honour the crew will be held today at Manyame Airbase.

After the parade, Wing Commander Manyowa will be buried in Chinhoyi, while Flight Lieutenant Mapiye will be interred at Glen Forest Memorial Park in Harare, with Flight Sergeant Chikamhi being at Mucheke Cemetery in Masvingo.

The accident also claimed the life of an 18-month-old toddler, Jade Fenyere, who was buried on Tuesday in Bocha, Manicaland Province.

Mnangagwa Regime Living Dangerously…

PERSECUTION OF OPPOSITION; REGIME SOWING SEEDS OF CIVIL UNREST & DISOBEDIENCE: MDC VETERANS ACTIVISTS ASSOCIATION (MDC VAA)

29 April 2021

The Regime is living dangerously and treading on loose ground by continually clamping down voices of reason and opposition activists on frivolous and trumped up charges.

The weaponisation of the law by the regime to suppress the mass and crush dissent fecundifies the nation for civil unrest and disobedience.

The Regime is sliding the nation back to the Liberation Struggle era where the then colonial regime crushed dissent with impunity until there was no room left for the citizens to breath leaving them with no option but to fight for their birth rights.

The arrest of the MDC Alliance Youth Chairperson, Cde Luther Obey Sithole and many others on crimes of conscience is a clear testimony that the Regime is hell-bent on crushing Dissent and silencing the voices of reason than in addressing the people’s grievances. They are arresting to investigate and not investigate to arrest, which is rather unfortunate as they are pushing the people to the edge. They are stretching the people’s tolerance beyond the limits.
The Regime is playing Russian Roulette with our future.

The Regime has waged a war against the voices of reason in the media, civil society and outspoken opposition Activists. They arrested the MDC Youth Alliance Organizing Secretary, Godfrey Kurauone, for singing; they arrested Makomborero Haruzivishe for alleged graffiti; they arrested Takudzwa Ngadziore for speaking to journalists; they arrested Hon Joanna Mamombe, Netsai Marowa, and Cecilia Chimbiri for convening a press conference; they arrested the people’s journalist Hopewell Chin’ono for exposing corruption fronted by the first family; they arrested Hon Job Wiwa Sikhala for his quest for corporate governance panctuated by transparency, accountability and equity. The list of Social Democrats who are languishing in prison and who are being arrested is growing by the day as the regime moves in to threaten and intimidate the masses.

Democracy is under seige as the Regime decimates the Constitution and abuses the Parliament to remake the National Constitution to puke on our freedoms and liberties and consolidate their iron grip on the masses. Worse still only a handful of people are amending what millions ascended to.

All these persecutions are happening on the backdrop of a Presidential Amnesty where dangerous criminals were pardoned yet prisoners of conscience were left to languish in jail. Hardcore criminals are let loose but those who fight for people’s rights are left to rot in prison. The Regime is perceiving Prisoners of conscience as more dangerous than the dangerous criminals.

As weird as it may sound, the Regime arrested Legwani Mavhunga,Vongai Tome and others for standing in solidarity with their leadership at court. When and where has solidarity become a chargeable criminal offence?

The Regime has pushed the people into a corner and may we remind them that a cornered People is a dangerous People.

The Regime has masterminded a blitz against the people and anyone perceived to be against it.The abitrary arrests, harrasment and illegal detentions are not new in Zimbabwean politics as they were Ian Douglas Smith’s tools to break the nationalists’ spirits. However, all this persecution does not break a real revolutionary’s spirit but it emboldens the resolve to fight the dictator to the end.

The arbitrary arrests, illegal political detentions, all the other acts of political victimisation and persecution fertlises the egg of civil unrest and civil disobedience.

On this note, may we remind the regime to self introspect and juxtapose itself with the Smith Regime. Is it not now behaving worse than the Smith Regime?

Is it not sowing the seeds of civil unrest and disobedience by persecuting opposition parties, activists, journalists and civic society?

Our expensive advice to the regime is for it to :
a) free all prisoners of conscience.

b) stop forthwith the arrests of the voices of reason and opposition Activists on trumped up charges or politically motivated crimes.

It’s high time that the Regime listen to the voices of reason and solve the people’s grievances than to whip them neshamu inomunyu.

You can arrest all Activists and any discerning voice but you can never kill an idea whose time has come. Remember that for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.

As Veterans of this Democratic Struggle we call on the Regime to order, and to Nation building, and not ignitor of civil unrest.

We all want a better Zimbabwe for all Zimbabweans irregardless of political affiliation, colour, race or tribe.

Thank you!

Woman Granted Peace Order Against Former Hubby Caught Fondling Own Daughter

court gavel

By A Correspondent- A woman from Bulawayo’s Old Magwegwe suburb has been granted a peace order against her former husband after she allegedly caught him fondling her daughter’s breasts and buttocks.

The woman and the man cannot be named so as to protect the identity of her minor who is 12 years old.

The short-lived marriage which lasted two years ended last year after the woman in question caught her former lover fondling her daughter’s breasts and buttocks.

After being caught red-handed, the man made a grovelling apology to his former lover. Luckily the woman forgave him and ultimately ended their affair.

The man now visits them at their home and also during the woman’s absence.

The woman abhors seeing her former lover around her daughter as she feels the man would end up raping her. And she has tried on several occasions to stop him from visiting them, but without any success.

The woman said: “I am applying for a peace order against my former lover whom I caught fondling my 12-year-old daughter’s breasts and buttocks.

“After I caught him, he apologised passionately and asked me not to report him to the police and I had to forgive him. What troubles me now is that he visits us at home. At times he comes to my home while my daughter would be alone at home and I fear that he would end up raping my daughter.

“ I have tried to talk to him so that he stops coming to my home but he disregards my pleas.”

The woman added: “May this court grant me a peace order to bar him from coming to our home.”

The presiding magistrate Jeconia Prince Ncube granted the woman a peace order and ordered the man not to visit the woman at her home.-BMetro

Pregnant Form 4 Pupil, Lover Hauled To Court For Abortion

Pregnant school girl… file

By A Correspondent- A two months pregnant Form Four pupil at Founders High School, who took a concoction to terminate her pregnancy causing her to bleed excessively, has been dragged to court together with her lover.

After Angeline Mandiramba (18) of Sizinda suburb discovered that she was bulging with 20-year-old Nkosikhona Ndlovu’s unborn baby, she informed her lover, who panicked as he felt he had no money to cater for the upkeep of the child.

Nkosikhona allegedly approached a local traditional healer and asked to be helped to terminate his lover’s pregnancy.

The traditional healer, the court heard, agreed and he took his lover to the traditional healer’s shrine, where the traditional healer administered a concoction.

She took the concoction, and after a few hours it plunged her into severe pain and excessive bleeding.

Her aunt Velile Mlalazi (42) found her rolling on the floor in pain. When she asked her what was causing her to bleed, she revealed that she took a concoction from a traditional healer to terminate her pregnancy.

Angeline, the court heard, also disclosed to her aunt that she was advised by her lover to take the concoction.
Velile made a police report leading to the arrest of the two law breakers.

Angeline was taken to United Bulawayo Hospitals (UBH), where she was treated. A doctor’s medical report confirmed that that she took a concoction which caused her to bleed profusely.

DeMbare Legend Chirambadare Remanded In Custody To May 13

Former Dynamos defender Stanley ‘Samora’ Chirambadare allegedly threatened to kill the boy he is being accused of sodomising if he brought the matter to light, it has emerged.

Chirambadare was arrested on Wednesday and appeared before Harare magistrate Denis Mangosi yesterday facing sexual assault charges.

Prosecutors told the court that in March 2021, Chirambadare (56), threatened to kill the plaintiff (13) if he was to bring the matter to light.

The court was also told that Chirambadare, abused the boy, who would frequently visit the accused at his home, until he developed piles.

Piles are swollen and inflamed veins in the rectum and anus that cause discomfort and bleeding.

The matter finally came to light, the court heard, when the boy confided the discomfort to his uncle, who took him to the Police to report the matter.

SuperSport United Boss Defends Kaitano Tembo

SuperSport United CEO Stan Matthews has blamed the media for stirring speculation on the future of Kaitano Tembo after the team slumped in the title race.

Reports surfaced last week that the club hierarchy is unhappy with the current performance and has started discussing the future of Tembo.

United have gone for nine games without picking a victory to drop to the 6th position on the log standings.

Speaking to KickOff.com, Matthews dismissed the rumours and highlighted some of the things the Zimbabwean gaffer has achieved this season.

“Even though we’ve had a very bad run recently, Kaitano has done an excellent job of transitioning a team that plays more players under the age of 24 than any other club in the PSL,” the CEO said.

“Kaitano has invested a significant amount of game time into our younger players, as we did with Ronwen at age 19, Tebza [Teboho Mokoena], [Luke] Fleurs and [Sipho] Mbule at age 18, and others.

“This will pay off for us as a club next season and beyond. So, while we are obviously disappointed with the way we’ve slipped out of contention [for the league title] after an excellent start, we also see a tremendous amount of progress in the club as a whole.”

He added: “I don’t know why some of the media wants to try place pressure on Kaitano, when the facts now are that, we cannot win the league and we also cannot be relegated.

“We have consciously decided to give some of the younger players game time, as well as assess who will and won’t be part of our set up come the new season.”

Zanu PF Continues To Violate COVID-19 Restrictions

Chelsea Eye Lukaku

Chelsea are reportedly targeting re-signing Romelu Lukaku after accepting defeat in the Erling Haaland transfer pursuit.

The Blues have been chasing Haaland ahead of the next transfer window but face strong competition from several rivals across Europe including Real Madrid and Manchester City.

And according to UK newspaper, The Sun, Chelsea now believe they won’t stand a chance and they have identified Lukaku to lead the team’s attack next season.

The report further claims that the club is ready to splash £90million-plus in re-signing the striker as both Timo Werner and Tammy Abraham have failed to impress coach Thomas Tuchel.

The 27-year-old initially joined Chelsea from Anderlecht for £18m in 2011 but made only 15 first-team appearances during his time at Stamford Bridge and was sold to Everton for £28m in 2014.

He has scored 27 goals for Inter this term and is considered mentally strong enough to handle leading the line for a club like Chelsea next season.- Soccer 24 Zimbabwe

Deep Breathing Exercises And Asthma

Trouble For Govt Ministers As Biti Returns To Parly

Opposition MDC Alliance vice-president Tendai Biti and five other legislators are set to bounce back to Parliament after the High Court on Wednesday dismissed an appeal by Benjamin Rukanda, who last month recalled them under the guise that he was the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) secretary-general.

Rukanda last month recalled Biti (Harare East), Willias Madzimure (Kambuzuma), Settlement Chikwinya (Mbizo), Kucaca Phulu (Nkulumane), Sichelesile Mahlangu (Pumula) and Regai Tsunga (Mutasa South).

The High Court ruled that Rukanda was not the bona fide PDP secretary general, but he challenged Justice Amy Tsaga’s ruling. However, Justice Tawanda Chitapi on Wednesday dismissed the appeal on the basis that it failed to comply with the rules.

United Kingdom-based law expert Alex Magaisa said Speaker of the National Assembly Jacob Mudenda had no choice, but to reinstate the six MPs.

“I don’t understand why the MPs are waiting for Mudenda to call them to Parliament,” Magaisa said.

“Mudenda has no choice in the matter. The High Court quashed the illegal expulsion. It means it was null and void. It’s as if it never happened. They should return to Parliament and take their seats.”

ED Cancels Russian Helicopter Deal, Acquires Costly One

By A Correspondent- President Emmerson Mnangagwa cancelled a deal by his late predecessor Robert Mugabe to acquire a presidential helicopter from Russia opting for an Airbus made superjet in a deal involving a third party which resulted in costs surging.

Mnangagwa splurged US$18 million on an Airbus H215 helicopter in a deal which sparked outrage early this month.

The aircraft Mugabe wanted to buy would cost at most US$14 million, implying a US$4 million variation.

Aviation evaluation journals, including the US publication, AIN Online, highlights that the cost of the H215 ranges between US$15,4 million and US$16,5 million.

However, in the case of Mnangagwa’s acquisition, sources say the price rose to about US$18 million considering that Zimbabwe cannot buy directly from Airbus due to sanctions imposed on the country by the European Union (EU), which imply that Airbus cannot directly do business with the government.

“The purchase could only have been done through a third party. If you are buying directly from Airbus, they issue you with an end-user certificate. In the case of Zimbabwe, a third party must have been roped in, and if you factor that in, the cost will escalate to about US$18 million,” an official source said.

Sources also revealed that Mugabe originally had the plan to buy a VVIP helicopter from Russia in a deal that was intricately linked to Zimbabwe’s vast platinum resources.

“Mugabe wanted to buy the Russian made Mi 17IE in a deal that was tied to Zimbabwe’s vast platinum reserves along the Great Dyke but this was cancelled in favour of the one from Airbus which was paid for in cash,” the source said.

According to the Airbus Helicopters Naming Convention, the H215 was previously known as the EC225.

The Mi17IE which Mugabe wanted to buy is valued at between US$13 million and US$15 million.

Mugabe’s interests to buy a helicopter from Russia, which has sold a range of armaments to a Zimbabwe reeling under European Union (EU) sanctions, dates back to 2016 when Russian Helicopters showcased a range of multifunctional choppers to the late president during the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) held that year in Bulawayo.

During the 2016 edition of the ZITF, a Russian delegation led by minister of trade and industry Denis Manturov showcased a variety of helicopters that include the Mi8/17; Ansat; Mi-38 (medium utility) and Mi-8/17.

According to B2B-Export Blog, a Russian publication, Mugabe held a high-level confidential meeting with Manturov during the fair where the eastern European country announced that it was going to start extracting platinum in Darwendale through the Great Dyke Investments in 2018. At that time, Great Dyke Investments was part owned by Russia’s Afromet and the Zimbabwe Pen East (Private) Limited.

“The Russian Delegation, led by Denis Manturov, Minister of Trade and Industry of the Russian Federation, participated in the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) 2016 held in Bulawayo from the 26th to the 30th of April.

“Russian Helicopters presented a diversified range of helicopters: multifunctional Mi-8/17; light helicopter Ansat; and Mi-38 medium utility helicopters. Mi-8/17 helicopters are particularly popular in African countries, where about 700 units are currently in use,” B2B-Export blog reported.

“During the fair it was also announced that the Russian-Zimbabwe Great Dyke Investments, owned by the Russian Afromet and the Zimbabwe Pen East (Private) Limited on a parity basis, is going to launch industrial mining of platinoids in Darwendale, the second largest deposit in the world, in 2018. On the 29th of April 2016, Zimbabwe President Robert Gabriel Mugabe visited the Russian stand at the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) 2016 and had a business lunch with Denis Manturov, Minister of Trade and Industry of the Russian Federation.”

The 2016 exhibition was followed up by a visit to Kubinka Russia by the then Defence minister Sydney Sekeramayi the same year to attend war games where fighter jets including MiG-29s were showcased among other Russian armaments.

Though it remains unclear whether Mugabe placed an order for a helicopter at the time, Mnangagwa appeared to have rekindled interests to buy from Russian in 2018 when a high-level delegation from Zimbabwe visited Ulan-Ude Aviation Plant of Russian Helicopters Holding Company owned by Rostec to specifically inspect Mi-17IE choppers tailor made for the transportation of key state officials.

As reported then by HeliHub, another Russian publication which specialises in aviation, Zimbabwe’s delegation also sought to understand payment and delivery terms for the purchase of helicopters.

HeliHub reported on April 8, 2018: “(A) high-level delegation from the Republic of Zimbabwe made a working visit to Ulan-Ude Aviation Plant of Russian Helicopters Holding Company (UAP).

The main purpose of the visit was examination of Mi-171E helicopters in VVIP configuration intended for transportation of top state officials and also familiarisation with the terms of helicopter delivery and after-sales support.

“Representatives of the Republic had a look at the U-UAP technological and manufacturing capabilities and rotorcraft under production. A familiarisation flight in a VVIP helicopter was organised for the delegation members. Tentative terms of delivery of the Plant’s products were discussed at the meeting with the U-UAP management.”

The publication further noted that the U-UAP managing director Leonid Belykh observed that the Zimbabwean delegation was pleased with what they saw during their tour.

“Delegation from Zimbabwe expressed satisfaction in the results of the visit to UUAP, the representatives noted a high level of the Plant’s manufacturing potential and the quality of its products,” Belykh was quoted saying at the time.

In 2019, Mnangagwa visited Russia where he underscored to Kremlin’s officials that Zimbabwe’s long-term plan was to bolster its military capabilities by acquiring Russian made fighter jets.

But in a turnaround policy on Mugabe’s initiatives, Mnangagwa two weeks ago took delivery of the European made Airbus H215 under unclear transactional terms since the EU slapped sanctions on the southern African country.

With Zimbabwe barred from buying armaments from the West, sources this week told the Independent that Mnangagwa’s administration could have “engaged a third party to buy the chopper,” while there could have been reservations around the transactional terms, which “cast Zimbabwe’s platinum reserves in the mix.”-TheIndependent

Bulawayo Lawyer Takes Mnangagwa to Court

Bulawayo lawyer Nqobani Sithole has taken President Emmerson Mnangagwa, Speaker of the National Assembly Jacob Mudenda, Senate President Marble Chinomona and Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs minister Ziyambi Ziyambi to court contesting the legality of the restoration of Constitutional Amendment No 1 (HB 1A. 2017) which lapsed in July 2018.

Sithole filed the application at the Bulawayo High Court on April 22 citing Mnangagwa, Mudenda, Ziyambi and Chinomona as respondents.

In his founding affidavit, Sithole submitted that he was filing the application in terms of Section 167 (2) (d) of the Constitution as read with Rule 27 of the Constitutional Court Rule 2016 for declaratory orders and consequential relief for the court to declare that parliament through Senate failed to exercise its legislative authority under section 131 (2) of the constitution of Zimbabwe Amendment No. 20 Act 2013 in accordance with the Constitution by passing a motion to restore the constitution amendment No.1) H.B 1A, 2017 to the order paper on March 24 2021 when the said Constitutional Bill had lapsed on July 29 2018 by operation of section 147 of the Constitution.

He said it must be declared that parliament through the senate failed to exercise legislative authority under section 131 (2) of the Constitution.

Sithole further said it must be declared that all processes from the restoration and passage of Constitution Amendment No.1 (H.B 1A, 2017 by the senate on March 24 2021 and on April 6 2021 are of no force or effect.

He said the law requires the respondents not to violate any provision of the Constitution as section 119 of the same imposes an obligation on parliament to protect the Constitution and promote democratic governance.

His application arose in that during the eighth parliament, Ziyambi tabled a Bill Amendment No.1 (H.B. 1A, 2017) the provision of which sought to amend several sections of the constitution including the manner in which the appointment of judicial officers was to be done.

“On July 25, 2017 the Bill was debated and passed in the House of Assembly of the eighth parliament as required by section. He said the law requires the respondents not to violate any provision of the Constitution as section 119 of the same imposes an obligation on parliament to protect the Constitution and promote democratic governance 328 of the constitution. The bill received the required affirmation two thirds vote,” Sithole submitted.

“In terms of the Constitution, the same affirmation was required in the senate of the Eighth parliament to pass the same Bill and apparently on August 1, 2017 the senate purported to have achieved this threshold.”

He said the vote in the senate ended before the court when the validity of the vote was challenged on the basis that the two thirds threshold had not been attained.

He added that two court applications were filed by legislators Innocent Gonese and Jessie Majome and were subsequently consolidated.

He said the life of the eighth parliament lasted until July 29, 2018 and all proceedings pending at the time of dissolution of the eighth parliament were terminated and every Bill, motion, petition and other business of that parliament lapsed on dissolution.

He said it was illegal that on March 24, 2021 parliament through the senate passed the same motion restoring the constitutional Amendment No. 1 (Bill H.B 1A, 2017) and the same as done on April 6, 2021.

Respondents are yet to file opposition papers in the matter.

UNICEF Donates 3k Radio Sets To Disadvantaged Learners

By A Correspondent- The United Nations Children’s Fund (Unicef) has donated 3 000 radio sets to benefit disadvantaged school-going children who have no access to the gadgets which are now being used to offer educational lessons amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

With the recent surge in active positive cases of the lethal virus in schools, the government resolved that learners should attend lessons on an alternating basis, while some lessons are to be conducted on radio.

Speaking at a handover ceremony held in Harare, Primary and Secondary Education deputy minister Edgar Moyo said that radio lessons would go a long way in assisting disadvantaged children, who previously had no access to the gadgets.

“To date the ministry has managed to broadcast 1 427 lessons based on the competence-based curriculum on all national and community radio stations. The … radios … will go a long way in providing alternative education to underprivileged communities.

“Radio, besides being a vehicle that develops learners through auditory senses, the medium also develops learners’ knowledge, skills and attitudes. With imagination, learners are then also exposed to the 21st century of critical thinking, creativity, communication collaboration and problem solving,” Moyo said, adding that the lessons will be broadcast in 12 indigenous languages.

“There is a global drive on indigenous languages and multilingualism, the radio lessons will provide the learners with a window to acquire skill to speak more than one language and improve on tolerance and peaceful living in the country,” Moyo said.

He further said that the radios will allow schools to listen to live broadcasts as well as access previously broadcast lessons through uploaded memory sticks.

“The ministry is leaving no child behind in an attempt to provide education for all,” he said.

Speaking on behalf of the chief of education, education manager, Chiharu Kondo said that the radios will be distributed evenly to the disadvantaged communities and schools.

“In order to facilitate access to radio lessons by children in disadvantaged communities and schools, Unicef procured 3 167 radio sets offshore and these have since arrived.

“We wish to acknowledge Education Cannot Wait (ECW) which funded 1 952 sets and Global Partnership for Education (GPE) which funded procurement of the remainder. The ministry is finalising the distribution list, and distribution will commence in the next two weeks,” Kondo said.

“One key feature is that the radios have a USB port for playing pre-recorded lessons. This will enable children in the targeted remote areas where there is limited or non-existent radio signal to access pre-recorded radio lessons off-line.”

He said memory sticks and CDs procured will also be distributed together with the radio sets.-DailyNews

Mnangagwa Hauled To Court

Bulawayo City Council Feasts On 3k Litres Of Service Delivery Diesel

By A Correspondent- Bulawayo City Council (BCC) senior executives allegedly helped themselves to 3 000 litres of diesel originally allocated for refuse collection, road maintenance and other crucial services, it has emerged.

The probe led to the arrest of a council director.-TheIndependent

Minister Kazembe’ s Passport Office Publicity Stunt Backfires

Kazembe Kazembe

Home Affairs Minister Kazembe Kazembe, yesterday went and joined the passport queue early in the morning knowing that in the afternoon he would stand before a Parliamentary portfolio committee which is questioning the state of affairs at the ministry of Home Affairs.

A tout was allegedly arrested for offering the Minister a spot in the front of the queue, as part of the publicity stunt by Kazembe.

A picture is circulating on social media of the tout sitting behind the reception desk at Harare Central police station.

The question is what crime did the tout commit? What will he be charged with and what will he be prosecuted for? Does the Minister have any arresting powers? Does the minister even understand the law? The publicity stunt is an ill timed photo opportunity which does not help the millions of Zimbabweans who are desperately seeking passports.

The tout who was arrested is part of a group of unemployed young people who sleep in the queue, to hold a position so that they can sell the position to the highest bidder.

There is no bribe, or corruption involved with the tout as he has broken no law. The corruption is inside the passport office not outside. Inside people demand fees to facilitate the passport and its production.

Minister Kazembe is barking up the wrong tree going after a tout who is capitalizing on an opportunity. Kazembe needs to be held to account and taking pictures to a parliamentary portfolio committee won’t absolve him of his ineptitude. He has brought chaos to the Passport office and that is a fact.

The Ministry of Home Affairs has failed to resolve the passport backlog and the passport office is currently in shambles.

Ordinary passport applications are suspended and the department is only taking applications for an emergency passport which is taking a minimum 2-3 weeks to process due to queues and high demand.

Kazembe has failed to bring order to the Ministry of Home Affairs. Passports were available and easy to process under Obert Mpofu. Cain Mathema took over and maintained the systems he found in place. The Passport office deteriorated under Kazembe, and the department failed to utilize the Covid-19 lockdown to reduce the passport backlog.

Kazembe is currently the most sued Home Affairs Minister as he faces a handful of lawsuits from various individuals among them Susan Mutami, a Bulawayo family whose brother was shot by the police among others.

Kazembe Kazembe is the worst home Affairs Minister ever and a single photo opportunity outside passport office won’t remedy the mess at the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Unpacking The Lobola Refund Issue

By Dr Masimba Mavaza | Zimbabweans were highly active on social media discussing an under-reported 2015 court ruling which passed a verdict that a man can sue his in-laws to recover lobola if his wife cheated on him. The ruling has been sprung back to life after another socialite was splashed in a domestic embarrassment after her husband was told that the child he was raising was not his.

So this issue pushed people from all walks of life to react to the ruling giving the right to the husband of cheating wife to reclaim lobola. Reports suggest that the socialite’s friends told the husband during a confession game after consuming some hot stuff that the child was not his and the claim was confirmed by a DNA test.

In the case which was before the magistrate court then “Liberty Machodo discovered that his wife had cheated on him on multiple occasions with several men who included his elder and younger brothers, a nephew and a herd boy. His wife did not waste the human furry cake she was blessed with. After learning of this free for all distribution of his cherished fruit and breach of the marriage vows and contract, Machodo sent his wife back to her parents. This did not go down well with the generous wife’s father Chikudza Fanuel Mangwende, who immediately sued his former son-in-law at the Magistrate’s Court demanding the outstanding balance for the lobola.
She confessed that she had indeed carried out numerous leg spreading escapades with Machodo’s brothers, nephew and herd boy. She was indeed a busy body during that time.

Upon considering all the evidence, the magistrate ruled that Machodo’s wife had broken the marriage relationship by cheating on her husband. The magistrate ruled that due to this breach, her father was not entitled to any outstanding balance of the lobola payment.
The magistrate went on to rule that under customary law, a man who would have paid lobola is entitled to a full refund if the wife engages in adultery.

The court found that there was material breach of the very tenants of marriage. The court concluded that the appellant was not entitled to payment of the balance of lobola because his daughter who was married to the respondent committed adultery with multiple partners ranging from the respondent’s brothers, nephews and the herd boy.

The court also found that customarily a husband is allowed to divorce an adulterous wife and then if he has paid lobola in full he is entitled to a refund of the lobola from the in laws.”The father-in-law was aggrieved by this ruling and filed an appeal at the High Court.

Justice Mwayera and Justice Uchena dismissed Mangwende’s appeal with costs. Judge Mwayera ruled.

“In coming up with the disposition of the matter whereby the court a quo dismissed the claim for the balance of lobola the trial magistrate properly exercised his discretion and we find no fault in his findings.
Accordingly, the appeal lacks merit and must fail. It is ordered that the appeal be and is hereby dismissed with costs.”

The issue to consider is whether the ruling makes a good law or a bad law. What is lobola?Known to many as a “bride-price” or bride-worth” and to some extent as a “down payment” or “dowry” but in the African culture, it is a ritual that brings two families together.

According to the English usage ‘dowry’ is the gift of money, goods or both, offered by the bride or bride’s family towards establishment of her household, whereas a bride-price is a marriage payment made by a prospective husband or more often, by his family to the family of the bride. Over the years, there have been conflicting debates about what lobola is and why this cultural practice should still be acknowledged. Perhaps it is the democratic and evolving society that has given people freewill to do things differently and to question how things were previously done. As a result, this has led to having a rebellious view that questions and discredits this sacred old practice.
Miffed by the ruling ZiFM star MisRed tweeted: “Help me understand. Is lobola a purchase that requires a refund? What happens if the opposite is the situation?” Her Twitt was responded by a social Activist Lorraine Pilime: “This lobola refund case really highlights that lobola should be scrapped. Lobola reinforces women being treated as property that must give a return on investment. Meanwhile women have been cheated on since the dawn of mankind and have no recompense for their investment.”

Many women have raised questions in this mater. Marylyn Mavaza a Housing specialist quipped “ if lobola is refundable will the man out back all the children into their mother’s womb. If that can not happen then there should be no rend.”

While family elders may insist on cultural and traditional ways, some people are becoming resistant to the idea of lobola, often questioning why the process should happen in the first place. Couples move in together and assume the roles of ‘husband and wife’ without going through the family-driven process of lobola especially when lobola is being taken as purchase price.

It is unfortunate that lobola has in some instances been reduced to some sort of transaction without really interrogating what is indeed at the core of lobola in the first place.
The judges make the whole process look like a transaction and a woman being reduced to a mere commodity.

The court also found that customarily a husband is allowed to divorce an adulterous wife and then if he has paid lobola in full he is entitled to a refund of the lobola from the in-laws.
The court concluded that the appellant’s daughter engaged in an adulterous relationship with multiple partners and that she by so doing breached the marriage relationship.
The court has given lobola a different meaning.
Medical practitioner and metaphysical scientist, Zulu Mathabo, says this important cultural practice is often misinterpreted, misunderstood and overlooked. “The fundamental symbol of lobola is a cow. The life of a cow is the most important part of this process,” he says.
In the ancient times, lobola was offered with a cow because of how people lived but today the offering is in the form of money. “Words such as payment should not be used, lobola is an offering. Essentially, the woman is getting married to the ancestral family of the man. It is a spiritual affair. It is not based on material or the ring but rather, the spirituality side of things,” he says.
Professor Kadembo shares the same sentiment, adding that there is a lot of misinterpretation that happens when coming to lobola. “Lobola has nothing to do with buying. No one is being bought. Lobola has a particular cultural significance,” prof Kadembo says.
According to Kennedy Mupomba a social scientist “the most important reason for lobola is to make sure that families come together as one. “People should look at lobola in its purest form, which is making sure that the families come together without it being misconstrued,” While the core reason for lobola is to bring families together, the issue of money is also another biggest factor.

Payment of bridewealth or lobola is a significant element of marriage among the Shona of Zimbabwe. However, the functions and meanings attached to the practice are constantly changing.

As a link between two families, lobola negotiation is a tradition that was implemented in the old days where a man pays the family of his fiancé for her hand in marriage. Although it is practised differently today, in historical times a man would pay much more for a virgin and less for a woman who had a child out of wedlock. Today, prices are set according to how well-mannered and educated the bride-to-be is. The more educated she is, the more expensive the lobola will be. Other factors also include the relative wealth and status of the family the prospective groom wishes to marry into, i.e. a young woman who is well educated would be much pricier than that of little or no education. Some families will not accept a woman of a different religion in their family. Traditionally, lobola usually amounted to eight heads of cattle, but today the value of each cattle head forms part of the overall negotiation.
So if lobola is a sign of uniting families it should not be tied to faithfulness of either party. The issue of lobola is a complex one in that different cultures have different ways of doing things.
But in our Zimbabwean cultures, for instance, in the Shona culture, women aren’t at the forefront of the negotiations.
The judgement by the learned judges exposes the whole system to abuse. There are people who will still consider it as sacred but others will abuse it because they don’t understand it, and the judgement is not helping. there is beauty in seeing two families become one through a spiritual connection that is conducted through the practice of paying lobola. Lobola was never meant to oppress women but to give the value them. There is a clear distinction between abuse and the practice of lobola. Some men might use it as a way of ownership by mentioning things like ‘don’t forget I paid for you, aided by this judgement some ignorant thick headed men will think lobola is a payment and sign of ownership.
Individuals in marriages should be able to distinguish when they are being abused, the ruling by the two honourable judges corrupts the law. In an ever-changing society, he suggests that there needs to be continuous re-iteration and proper education of the process of lobola. “It is important to have traditional leaders, cultural experts and academic institutions teaching the society about the true beautiful meaning of lobola.

Sitting as an appeal court, the High Court did, in 2015, rule that “under customary law, a man who would have paid lobola is entitled to a refund if the wife engages in adultery.” Customary law is the collection of traditionally accepted legal rights and duties of black Zimbabweans who live a traditional way of life. Customary law is generally unwritten. Often, the courts require customs to be certain, reasonable and to have attained the recognition of formal law.
The High Court has held that a lobola refund can be demanded in circumstances where a woman cheats on her husband. The other side of the same coin is that where a husband is found cheating, and the wife initiates divorce proceedings, the husband is not entitled to a lobola refund.

But this is not fair to the ladies. The law is wrong in objectifying the laddies. Society is aware that lobola is a uniting factor. It must never be used as the means of objectifying women. In a very suttle way the judgement is a serious attack on our culture. The primary purpose of lobola is to build relations between the respective families, as marriage is seen to be more than just a union between two individuals. The relationship is seen as life-long and in some cases, even after the death of the groom. The widow then, in a way, is bound to the groom’s family forever, especially if there were children that are born to the marriage.
Unfortunately, there is a downside brought by the high court. The judgement has exposed the process to abuse and it is incorrectly viewed it can be torturous, and divide rather than unite families. One example of this, the negotiations are usually handled by the extended male family members of the respective families, to the absolute exclusion of any females Lobola is a token of appreciation to the bride’s parents for raising a woman for the groom and should not be seen as a chance to make a quick buck. If the bride makes mistake in the marriage it must not revert back to the bride price.
Lobola, is the provision of gifts to the parents of a bride, usually in the form of cash or livestock, is an entrenched part of marriage in Zimbabwe. So a gift can not be returned when relations are sour.

We should then conclude that at this time and age the process of lobola payments must be abolished. Men should not hold their wives at ransom because of the amount paid. Shonas have a saying which says Muroora hakupere meaning the payment of lobola does not end. This is to show you that there will never be a price in full and final settlement where lobola is concerned.

Our culture is so beautiful and must not be tainted by anger or emotional grieving.

Biti, Five Others Bounce Back In Parliament

By A Correspondent- Opposition MDC Alliance vice-president Tendai Biti and five other legislators are set to bounce back to Parliament after the High Court on Wednesday dismissed an appeal by Benjamin Rukanda, who last month recalled them under the guise that he was the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) secretary-general.

Rukanda last month recalled Biti (Harare East), Willias Madzimure (Kambuzuma), Settlement Chikwinya (Mbizo), Kucaca Phulu (Nkulumane), Sichelesile Mahlangu (Pumula) and Regai Tsunga (Mutasa South).

The High Court ruled that Rukanda was not the bona fide PDP secretarygeneral, but he challenged Justice

Amy Tsaga’s ruling.

Byo Pupils Stranded By Roadside As Police Gets Tough On Mushika-shika Vehicles

Scores of pupils were yesterday left stranded at roadsides as police in Bulawayo impounded vehicles that were pirating in defiance of the Government’s travel regulations meant to curb the spread of Covid-19.

A total of 13 touts have been arrested and 209 vehicles operating illegally seized in the city this week.

Police impounded staff buses, vehicles hired to ferry school children but are not registered under the Zimbabwe United Passenger Company (Zupco) and taxis operating illegally.

Before being released to their owners after paying relevant fines, vehicles taken by the police have to be cleared for outstanding tickets by Bulawayo City Council (BCC), while Zimra checks whether the vehicles were properly imported, not under-declared and did not evade taxes. Zinara also checks for the validity of licence plates.

Government in March last year banned private ‘public’ service operators as part of measures to contain the pandemic.

All commuter omnibus operators have to register under the Zupco franchise to be allowed to ferry passengers.

However, parents have raised concern over privately hired taxis that are being impounded by the police which ferry pupils to and from school.

Yesterday school children – most of them at ECD level – were left stranded and some did not attend school at all.

At a press conference at Ross Camp yesterday, Bulawayo Provincial Police spokesperson Inspector Abednico Ncube said the Road Motor Transport Act states that only Zupco-contracted commuter omnibuses are allowed to be hired as staff buses or to ferry school children.

“As police we say there is no selective application of law hence staff buses and vehicles ferrying school children not contracted under Zupco are not allowed to operate. Some of these commuter omnibuses are not even contracted by the companies or schools that they claim to be serving. This kind of operation is illegal as only those commuter omnibuses that are contracted to Zupco are allowed to operate,” he said.

Insp Ncube said schools should make arrangements with Zupco to avail kombis to transport pupils.

He warned members of the public against boarding non-Zupco kombis or buses at undesignated points as they face arrest.

He said commuters should shun vehicles without number plates as most of them are used in cases of armed robberies, mugging, rape and hit-and-run incidents.

“Police in Bulawayo have arrested 13 touts and 209 public service vehicles of which 121 are commuter omnibuses (kombis) and the remaining being Mshikashika operating motor vehicles and also defying the Road Traffic Act and Covid 19 regulations,’’ said Inspector Ncube.

In an interview, Mr Bekezela Ngoma, a parent, said children were stuck in the city centre, while others were stuck at roadblocks as vehicles were impounded and they had no means to get home.

‘‘My child dismissed from school at 1pm and he arrived home at 5pm, while some children were stuck in town after 7pm. We are at risk, even those that do not have kids at school. I have witnessed the police doing high speed chases with those so-called illegal taxis putting the lives of people in danger. We need to be protected by the police but they are endangering our lives,’’ he said.

Another parent said while they understand that some kombis are illegal, Zupco does not take children to and from school.

‘‘Zupco does not transport schoolchildren to school they only drop them at bus stops while these private hire school-run kombis drop them safely at school gates.

“Our children were left stranded in some places when the police impounded kombis exposing our children to kidnapping,’’ said Mrs Nothando Nkomo.

Mr Patrick Sande appealed to the Government to avail legal transport that will take children directly to school, collect them when they knock off and leave them at their homes.

Rethabile Mangena, a student at the National University of Science and Technology, said she arrived at 11AM for an 8AM lecture.

“Transport was a challenge in the morning, I waited at the bus stop for two hours until I arrived on campus at 11am when my lecture was through,” she said.

The Chronicle news crew yesterday observed commuters walking home together with schoolchildren to the western suburbs along 6th Avenue Extension as there were transport challenges following the police blitz.

Commuters raised concerns that they are facing transport challenges as Zupco is sometimes overwhelmed by the number of people.

Freedom For Mthwakazi 9

By A Correspondent- Bulawayo High Court judge Justice Evangelista Kabasa on Wednesday granted bail to nine Mthwakazi Republic Party (MRP) activists who had spent several weeks at Khami Remand Prison facing public violence charges.

The nine activists were arrested in early March after they stormed Bulawayo Central Police Station protesting the alleged intimidation and harassment of their leader, Mqondisi Moyo, by armed State security agents.

Lawyers representing the activists approached the High Court after several unsuccessful attempts to secure their release at the lower courts.

“They have been freed on bail,” Nqobani Sithole, their lawyer from the Abammeli Human Rights Lawyers, said.

“Eight of the accused were freed on $10 000 bail each, while one was ordered to pay $20 000 for a previous conviction.”

The activists include MRP national league chairperson Sibongile Banda, Busi Moyo, council of elders representative Tinos Nkomo, MRP youth chairperson Mongameli Mlotshwa, Livson Ncube, Maxwell

Nkosi, Welcome Moyo, Nkosilathi Ncube and Ackim Ndebele.

In March, the activists stormed Bulawayo Central Police Station protesting the alleged harassment of their leader, Moyo.

This was after armed State security agents reportedly stormed Moyo’s house with the intention to arrest him following a confrontation with the police in Ntabazinduna over a land dispute.

The activists had clashed with police after the latter descended at Tabas Induna Farm in Ntabazinduna, where they evicted former Vice-President Kembo Mohadi’s son-in-law Floyd Ambrose from the property, accusing him of grabbing it from a white farmer, Brian Davies.

After the incident, police visited Moyo at his house at night and attracted protests from MRP activists, who went on to stage a mini-demonstration outside Bulawayo Central Police Station.

Police had to fire warning shots to disperse the protesters before arresting the nine, who were part of a group that was threatening to storm the police building.-Newsday

ZCTU Slams Sell-Outs Who Voted For Constitutional Amendment No 2

The Zimbabwe Congress of Trade Unions (ZCTU) says opposition MDC-T legislators who last week voted in support of Constitutional Amendment Bill Number 2 were sell-outs.

The proposed law seeks to, among other things, strike off the presidential running mate clause in the constitution as well as empower the President to promote sitting judges of the High Court and Supreme Court without going through any public interviews as is currently the case.

The law also seeks to provide judges of the Constitutional and Supreme Courts an option of extended tenure beyond the retirement age of 70 while also broadening the president’s scope to appoint non-parliamentary ministers.

The attempt to patch up the 2013 national constitution has also been widely criticised as an attempt by President Emmerson Mnangagwa to safeguard his political interests beyond the 2023 elections.

Critics are angered government was investing a lot of energy and resources towards a law which had no positive bearing on the lives of ordinary interests while there was no equal display of zeal to align existing laws with the national charter.

But while Zanu-PF could be excused for pushing a law tailored at tightening its stranglehold on national politics, it is the opposition that has come under fire for being willing supporters of the controversial legislation.

Said ZCTU president Peter Mutasa at a Thursday press conference, “The 2013 constitution came through a long process that include consultation of the citizens.

“So, anyone who has been appointed or elected by the citizens and who sits in the Senate or House of Assembly and does not realise the need for consultation before the Constitution is amended, there is no other characterisation of that person; they are sell-outs.

“They are the Morrison Nyathi of the liberation struggle and they are everywhere.

“So, we must be very clear as citizens that we are not going to side with those that are not siding with us. That has to be open.

“And I am sure you have seen some of them trying to come out after citizens raised voices.

“So, we need also to raise our voices against those who are mutilating the people’s Constitution.

“It is expected, they have never been any struggle without its turncoats, without its sell-outs but what we can pronounce openly that those people are selling out.”

Mwonzora, a day after the Bill passed through the Parliament with his MPs voting yes, hurriedly converged a press conference to explain why his legislators voted in support of the Bill in what stakeholders say was meant to manage public perception.

There are claims the politician was secretly whipping his Senators to vote in support of the Bill but publicly criticise it.

Added Mutasa, “There is another point we need to urgently deal with. Many people across the country are not aware of what is happening in the citadel of dictatorship in Harare, in the Parliament which is no longer honourable.

“We need to spread this message in languages that people understand and it is a collective responsibility.

“It is only when people are informed, empowered and understand what is happening and when we get everyone standing up fighting for their rights.

“So, we need to fight against this amendment and use all our organisations, all our resources that we have.

“In fighting, you are going to get many reprisals, we are going to face many challenges, what is going to make sure that this amendment, what is going to make sure that we succeed is the solidarity which must be the goal that unites us.”

“Importer’s Plea On Confusion Over Statutory Instrument 89 of 2021”

Dear Editor

My problem is on 11 February 2021 i paid for my 1st car on BeForward and it was before   2 April before our  government introduced the new system of importing licences and permits,

Now the problem is, i received the car in Tanzania after prepaying duty and  wanted to import it through Kariba boarder post.

When I arrived there, they told me to apply for a permit at ZIMRA through an Email and I did but they are not responding at all.

Initially I had applied through the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, but from nowhere they said they were no longer offering letters and this process was now being done by ZIMRA.

However, i left the car with them at a Bonded Warehouse and i have been trying to get the permit but to no avail.

In Kariba, they said I must get it from Harare offices and when I got to Harare they are referring me back to Kariba. They told me to send an email but they are not replying.

Every day the car is being charged storage fees and yet they are the ones who are delaying the whole process.

Where do i go from here and what should i do because i may end up losing the car because the duty is now too much.

Please help me.

Imports of second-hand vehicles more than 10 years old from the date of manufacture on the day they enter Zimbabwe on or after April 2 are no longer automatic and now need specific import licences for each vehicle, with importers attaching proof of payment when applying for this licence.

The same Control of Goods (Import and Export) (Commerce) (Amendment) Regulations, 2021 (No.9) gazetted on April 6

The amendment to the first schedule of the original regulations was made by Industry and Commerce Minister Dr Sekai Nzenza in Statutory Instrument 89 of 2021.

While importers of most older vehicles now need to apply for a specific import licence, the minister exempted from the requirement commercial vehicles, listing these as tractors, haulage trucks, earth-moving equipment and specialised vehicles used in the mining and construction sectors. Those importing such vehicles, even if they are more than 10 years old from date of manufacture, can still import them on the open general import licence so their only paperwork is just the customs clearance.

Applications for importing cars, motorcycles and light trucks more than 10 years old, along with applications to import cement or sugar, can be made at the offices of the Ministry of Industry and Commerce in Harare, Mutare, Bulawayo, and Gweru in line with Government decentralisation policies, Minister Nzenza said in a statement explaining her gazetted statutory instrument.

Even outside the four older cities, people can contact ministry officials in Mashonaland East, Mashonaland Central, Mashonaland West and Matabeleland South if they have queries. An electronic licensing platform that can be used by importers and exporters has also been established.

The requirement to seek permission to import every light second-hand vehicle over 10 years old is in line with the National Development Strategy 1, which underscores value addition and encourages effective standards, regulations and use of roadworthy vehicles that meet environmental and safety standards.

Those who check such vehicles have found that many under a decade old with moderate mileage are likely to be roadworthy, but as age increases faults start growing rapidly and both the owners and Zimbabwe can face huge import bills for spare parts.

It is not yet known what criteria will be used to see if an older vehicle can still be imported, as the regulations do not impose a ban but only a requirement that the industry ministry must check the proposed import first, rather than just allow an automatic import.

Presenting the 2020 National Budget last year, Finance and Economic Development Minister Professor Mthuli Ncube also said all vehicles imported from Japan will require prior clearance to ensure they are not contaminated by radioactivity from the 2011 accident at the Fukushima nuclear plant.

The actual regulations just say second-hand vehicles from countries that have had a high-level nuclear accident, to prevent vehicles salvaged from the immediate area of that nuclear accident being shipped to Zimbabwe. But Japan is at present the only affected country.

However, so far no hot vehicles have been found in the Japanese imports, meaning no one has tried to retrieve vehicles from the Fukushima area for sale in Zimbabwe.

Prof Ncube noted that Zimbabweans had spent about US$1,3 billion on the imports of buses, light commercial and passenger motor vehicles from 2015 to September 2020.

$2 m Donation To Refurb Rot At Sally Mugabe Maternity – A Referral, Shudder At Rot In Rural Hospitals

By Nomusa Garikai- Stanbic Bank has donated equipment worth US$37 000 to Sally Mugabe Central Hospital’s maternity wing and will be spending $2 million refurbishments. The list of equipment and the refitting was impressive.

The equipment includes an anesthesia machine, suction pumps, conventional laryngoscope set, infant weighing scale, fluid warmer, IV pole, a surgical table, electro surgical unit, an infant warmer, defibrillator, eco-patient monitors, infusion pump and a patient monitor rolling stand.

The refurbishment  included fitting of two sets of double action doors, painting of walls, replacing formica tops to wall edge protection, supplying and fitting cupboards and shelves.

“Stanbic Bank purchased the theatre equipment, refurbished the entrance hall; internal passage; boots room, sluce room; maternity theatre, scrub room, sister-in-charge’s office and outside passage,” Stanbic Bank chief executive Solomon Nyanhongo explained.

One can only imagine the sorry state of the Hospital wing before this generous donation!

This is a complete re-equip and overhaul as a result of decades of neglect and being starved of funds. Money that should have been spent on the upkeep of the hospital was siphoned off and spent on such luxuries as Mugabe’s four storey US$ 2 billion Blue Roof palatial mansion.

Mugabe and the ruling elite could afford to neglect local hospitals, they started using overseas hospitals for all their health care needs soon after independence. It costed the nation a pretty penny.

In 2012 Mugabe made no fewer than 8 health care trips to the Far East each trip costing US$ 3 million. When his daughter, Bona, had her baby she too went to the Far East. She and her husband and their entourage went three weeks before the birth. Grace Mugabe and her entourage followed a week or so latter. Mugabe then commandeered an Air Zimbabwe plane to go and see his grandson collect the family. The total bill for this one junket was US$ 15 million, at least.

If the Sally Mugabe Central Hospital’s maternity wing, one of the country’s referral hospitals, was allowed to fall into this sorry state of rot and decay; one can only imagine the rot and decay in the provincial hospitals, even worse state for the hospitals in rural backwater!

The truth is Zimbabwe’s public health care service, like education and other basic services, collapsed a long time ago. No doubt Sally Mugabe maternity wing has continued to admit patients all along and the poorly paid skeleton staff have done the best they could with the ramshackle equip and facilities they had.

Of course, many mothers and babies have lost their lives unnecessarily because the appalling poor quality of the health care provided.

Whatever health care improvements the generous Stanbic Bank has brought to Sally Mugabe maternity wing, they will not last long. The hospital is so starved of funding the very expensive equipment will laying idle for lack of proper service or US$ 10 spare part. As long as nothing is done to end the rampant corruption and gross mismanagement, the root causes of the country’s economic meltdown; there will be no money to fund even basic services like health care and education.

As long as Zimbabwe remains a pariah state ruled by corrupt, incompetent and murderous thugs there will be no meaningful economic recovery. As soon as the last dollar of the Stanbic Bank donation is spent, Sally Mugabe Maternity Hospital will start drifting back to its sorry state of rot and decay, the same state of the rest of the other wings at Central Hospital are in!

A country without something as basic as education and health care services is doomed.

Opposition Leader Threatened With Arrest For Clean Up Campaign

By A Correspondent- Opposition Transform Zimbabwe leader, Jacob Ngarivhume has said police officers threatened to arrest him and his colleagues after they embarked on a cleaning initiative in Mbare, Harare.

He posted on Twitter:On a disappointing note –

The police at Matapi Police Station had initially welcomed our cleanup campaign in areas around their police station. They instructed us to formally notify them of our continued presence in Mbare.

When we did that this morning we were told that unless we had permission from the police, were not allowed to continue. The police now had instructions from Harare Propol Maunganidze to arrest us if we continue with the cleanup program in Mbare.

The filthy in Mbare is just a cause for concern and can result in the outbreak of deadly diseases such as cholera.

Responding to Ngarivhume’s post, some criticised the city fathers for not collecting garbage timeously while some said the blockade was meant to ensure that the ruling party has a campaigning point come election time.

There has always been blame-shifting when it comes to lack of service delivery by local authorities.

The central government accuses the local government authorities of failing to honour their election campaign promises while the city fathers are accusing the central government for interference.
