By A Correspondent- Traditional leaders have demanded that the Justice minister must not be given power to appoint them as marriages officers in the Marriages Bill as that would undermine their authority.
Clause 9 of the Marriages Bill, which is currently before Senate, proposes that the Justice minister “may” choose to designate a chief to become a marriage officer.
However, last Thursday in Senate, chiefs raised objections against the clause, saying it must be removed as they automatically qualified to be marriage officers and did not need to be appointed by the Justice minister.
Senator Chief Ngungumbane, born Zama Mkwananzi of Mberengwa, described the clause as discriminatory.
“The first one is, when I become a chief, I have to apply to you as the minister administering this Act. The word ‘may’ means that you can use your discretion to approve or disapprove that application of a chief. To me, that creates discrimination among the institution of chiefs,” Chief Ngungumbane said.
“I think by virtue of me being a chief, I automatically become a marriage officer. It should be automatic,” he said.
President of the Chiefs’ Council Chief Fortune Charumbira said: “When one is appointed a chief, all chiefs are equal. So, you cannot by operation of this Bill, start grading them and say this one is competent and that one in not.”
But Justice minister Ziyambi Ziyambi defended the clause, saying it was not discriminatory.
“What we are simply saying is we want chiefs to be made alive to what they would be doing in terms of solemnising the marriages of their people. I plead with chiefs that this is a very progressive clause that we cannot remove because if we remove it, it means that government will now accept marriages that may be void without any control or without any training of the very people that they would have allowed to be marriage officers,” Ziyambi said.
By A Correspondent- Former University of Zimbabwe Sociology department chairman during the former first lady Grace Ntombizodwa Mugabe’s controversial PhD, Doctor Watch Ruparanganda has made some stunning claims before the court when he said that Grace Mugabe was a ghost student who appeared from nowhere.
Dr Ruparanganda who is a third witness in the trial of suspended University of Zimbabwe Vice Chancellor Levi Nyagura said some of his duties when he was a senior lecturer at UZ was to ensure that the enrollment of the students was per the regulations but he claimed whilst he was working there, he never came across Grace. He said he doesn’t know Grace and he believes she doesn’t know him either.
“I don’t even know Grace Mugabe and even if she was here she wouldn’t have known me, she just appeared from nowhere, and it was through the grapevine that I heard that she was graduating with a PHD degree,” he said.
Dr. Ruparangada further stated that Mugabe was a ghost student as the board did not have any knowledge of her and the topic she was researching. They only came to know about her when she was about to graduate.
He said as the board, they were supposed to have known her qualifications to avoid enrolling standard six students.
“Mugabe was supposed to have seen me as the chairman like what other candidates like Thokozani Khupe did,” he added.
According to The Herald, Dr. Ruparangada told the court that, Professor Nyagura knew very well that for one to supervise a PhD candidate, he or she had to have the qualifications but instead he chose to select an unqualified friend of his to supervise the ghost student.
The former Vice-Chancellor is facing criminal abuse of office charges. The charges stem from the degree that was awarded to the former first lady Grace Mugabe by the UZ’s Faculty of Social Studies Department of Sociology in 2014.
The degree attracted intense criticism and speculation after claims that Grace did not defend her thesis, let alone write one, and that she did not take the required period to complete the doctorate.
By A Correspondent-MDC-T leader Douglas Mwonzora has lost 450 MDC-T senior executives to the original MDC-Alliance led by Nelson Chamisa.
These executives defected to MDC-T during the Thokozani Khupe era.
This came out last week in Gwanda when the former MDC Alliance Matabeleland South chairperson Watchy Sibanda, who had defected to the MDC-T then led by Thokozani Khupe, was re-admitted into the Nelson Chamisa party last week.
Sibanda resigned from the Mwonzora-led party.
At a meeting held in Gwanda, the Matabeleland South MDC Alliance provincial executive also welcomed back about 450 members, who had followed Sibanda to MDC-T.
Ntando Ndlela, MDC Alliance Matabeleland South spokesperson, told The Standard that Sibanda had brought with him the whole district leadership of MDC-T in Matobo North.
“Edmore Nkomo, a former leader of our party, who went with Khupe, has come back and almost all of those who went away with him in Insiza district are back.
“The Chamisa-led party is growing big here and we are so excited.”
Another bigwig who had gone with Khupe, Mbiyezwe Nare, has also re-joined MDC Alliance in Gwanda district, Ndlela said.
“We welcome home all these comrades. MDC Alliance is home for all who seriously want a better Zimbabwe,” he added.
“We are getting ready to take over power from the failed government of Zanu PF.”
He claimed that people in Matabeleland were “fast seeing that Mwonzora and Khupe are a Zanu PF project”.
Ndlela challenged Mwonzora to try and have a meeting or mini rally in Matabeleland if he wanted to see that he has no followers in the region.
By A Correspondent- There was chaos at the burial of the Benza cousins in Mutasa’s Sambaza village in Nyanga last week with mourners demanding answers from the deceased’s family concerning the death of the two children.
It all started when Headman Sachirarwe asked the Benzas to tell the gathering what led them to name Solomon Manyama and Passmore Sambaza as the suspects who murdered Delan and Melissa Benza.
The Manica Post reports that a gathering hackled the family spokesperson, Johannes Benza, accusing him of not telling the truth.
Relatives also demanded to know the post-mortem results which the police said they were not in a position to share with the restive crowd.
The two seven-year-old cousins were killed last week on their way home from school. Search parties started searching for them but to no avail.
Their bodies with deep neck cuts and throats slit were only discovered the next day in a disused pit latrine toilet about 2km from the school. The bodies were discovered by students from Mbaza High School who had joined the search.
The Eastern Review had reported that the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has confirmed the arrest of two suspects in connection with the horrific murder of two Grade 1 pupils which occurred in Nyanga last week.
48-year-old Solomon Munyama and Passmore Sambaza (age not given) were arrested for the murder of Dilan and Melissa Benza of Sambaza Village, in Nyanga.
The two children were both aged 7.
National police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi revealed that the police had recovered a blood-stained hoe from the home of one of the suspects.
By A Correspondent-The bankrupt Grain Marketing Board GMB has shifted from its previously announcd maize deliveries payment time-frame of processing payment within 48 hours and now says it would do the same within one week.
The shifting position was revealed by the state media on Sunday when the government propaganda weekly newspaper The Sunday Mail, was claiming that GMB was more than prepared to pay farmers who would have delivered their grain produce.
The Sunday Mail reported that the government had set aside $60 billion to ensure timely payment of farmers, with the GMB undertaking to effect payments to farmers within 72 hours of delivery.
“Farmers who deliver their grain to mobile collection points will be paid within five days”, reported Sunday Mail.
Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Resettlement Minister Anxious Masuka said maize and other grain products have been declared controlled products, meaning that they can only be sold to designated buyers.
“The marketing season for maize, traditional grains and soya bean started on April 1, 2021,” said Minister Masuka. “All the 84 GMB depots are open 7 days a week. A total of 1 389 buying points have been identified for the convenience of farmers. “A further 400 collection points are being identified. The target is to establish 1 800 buying points countrywide, one in each ward.

GUNS, ABDUCTIONS OR STATE BRUTALITY WILL NOT STOP THE CONVERGENCE OF THE CITIZENS: MDC-A MASH WEST
23 April 2021
By Mandava Blessing Provincial Spokesperson
Our Secretary for Defence and Security leader Victor Muchavhaira escaped abduction by a whisker at FoodWorld opposite Joina City in Harare when two armed men manhandled him, forced him to the ground and attempted to drag him to a white Isuzu truck which had no number plates. The abduction was foiled by alert citizens who heeded his cries for help and rushed to his aid.
Ldr Muchavhaira,a fearless MDC Alliance cadre who was arrested last year for taking over the MDC Alliance Headquarters the Harvest House from the Mwonzora outfit before the State reassisted mwonzora to flush them out using the court is neither fazed nor scared by this cowardly act by the regime but is emboldened to fight it to the end so that such an act of gangsterism will not be found in the New governance culture of the New Zimbabwe.
The abduction attempt is clear testimony of the capture of the securocrats by the mafiaso which has declared war on all discerning voices and a brazen attempt to silence the voice of reason and ultimately crush Dissent.
The Regime is busy strategising on how to annihilate the opposition and silence the voice of reason than to strategize on how to transform the nation’s Political and socio-economic misfortunes. They are investing millions of dollars to fight President Chamisa and the MDC Alliance yet the people are languishing in abject poverty.
Now that the Regime has failed to eradicate poverty it is now focussing and strategising to eradicate the poverty stricken masses. This is a clear testimony of incompetent and evil Rulers.
As People’s leaders and God’s servants we shall not be intimidated by such cowardly and barbaric acts by bullies who use state resources to muzzle the people’s voices, silence the voices of reason and fight unarmed innocent citizens whose only crime is to ask for checks and balances from the Regime as empowered by the National Constitution.
We shall continue to fight for the people and the nation nomatter how dangerous it may become.
We are alive to the fact that freedom does not come on a silver platter.
We are also concious of the fact that The struggle is not a bed of roses.
This further exposes the Regime’s insincerity to change the governance culture which has been characterised by abductions, harrasment, abitrary arrests and intimidations of opposition members.
However,we would like to catergorically make it clear without any equivocation or ambiguity whatsoever that if they’re to abduct one of us, they’ll have to abduct us all and if they’re to kill one of us, they’ll have to kill all of us!!! We pledge undying loyalty to the people’s cause and are ready to pay the ultimate price.
A Veteran journalist who is a former Chronicle Sports Editor, Innocent Kurwa (63), died early yesterday morning after his car, a Nissan Almera, was involved in a head on collision along Leopold Takawira Avenue in Bulawayo.
The accident occurred on Saturday at around 9PM near Ascot Shopping Centre and Kurwa succumbed to the injuries at the United Bulawayo Hospitals (UBH) at around 2AM yesterday.
Witnesses said Kurwa was travelling from the city centre heading to his home in Sunninghill suburb. Soon after passing the UBH turn-off, another vehicle emerged from the opposite direction and encroached onto his traffic lane resulting in a collision.
Kurwa was trapped in the wreckage and the ambulance crew later managed to rescue him. He was taken to the UBH where he succumbed to the injuries at about 2AM.
Sunday News Senior Reporter Robin Muchetu, who arrived at the scene a few minutes after the accident, said she managed to contact an ambulance, which took Kurwa to UBH.
“I arrived at the scene at around 9PM and he was still trapped in the wreckage. He managed to recognise me as he was groaning in pain and I immediately called an ambulance, which took him to UBH,” she said.
“When they took him to hospital, I thought he would make it, but sadly I received a call from nurses at UBH at around 2AM this morning notifying me of his death.”
Bulawayo police spokesperson Inspector Abednico Ncube said the driver of the other car, a Jaguar sedan was speeding and encroached onto the lane of oncoming traffic resulting in the two cars colliding.
“I can confirm that two cars, a Nissan Almera and Jaguar were involved in a head on collision along Leopold Takawira Avenue near Ascot Shopping Centre on Saturday night. The driver of the Nissan Almera sustained severe injuries after he was trapped in the wreckage while the other motorist sustained minor injuries,” he said.
“They were both rushed to the United Bulawayo Hospitals but unfortunately the driver of the Nissan Almera, Innocent Kurwa (63) of Sunninghill suburb in Bulawayo, died a few hours later.”
Insp Ncube said they have opened a docket of culpable homicide charges against the driver of the offending car.
“The driver of the Jaguar was speeding and failed to control his car resulting in him encroaching onto the lane of oncoming traffic resulting in a head on. He is being charged for culpable homicide,” said Insp Ncube.
Family spokesperson Mr Wonderful Makura said they were saddened by Kurwa’s untimely death.
“His death came as shock to us and as a family we have lost a pillar. He was a dependable and honest person in whom we had bestowed our trust as a family,” he said.
Mr Makura said the family is yet to meet and discuss on funeral arrangements. Kurwa started his journalism career at the Chronicle in the 1980s rising through the ranks and became the paper’s Sports Editor. He left Chronicle to further his studies at the University of Zimbabwe (UZ).
Kurwa held a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Economics and Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Zimbabwe (UZ) as well as MSc in Development Studies (Nust).
Between March 1997 and September 1998, he worked for Moto Magazine in Gweru as Editor. He then joined the Associated Newspapers of Zimbabwe (ANZ) where he was General Manager between 1998- 2005.
Upon retirement, he was involved in freelance work. An avid sports writer, Kurwa once had a column “On the Ball” in the Southern Eye.
At the time of his death, Kurwa was an adjudicator for the Voluntary Media Council of Zimbabwe (VMCZ).
A devout Catholic, Kurwa also served as the church’s social communications officer for the Archdiocese of Bulawayo.
Kurwa is survived by three children, two sons and a daughter. Mourners are gathered at Number 103 Walsingham Drive in Sunninghill suburb, Bulawayo.
Kurwa’s wife, Getrude together with her mother was killed four years ago in a road traffic accident almost similar to that of her husband.
Mrs Kurwa, who was taking her mother back to Kwekwe after a medical review at Gweru General Hospital, collided head- on with a PCJ bus just after Regina Mundi High School along the Gweru-Kwekwe highway in February 2017. -Chronicle
Peter Dube (35) is on the run after he allegedly shot four people resulting in the death of two of the victims last Friday….
One of the Bensam Flats shooting victims, Ms Nyaradzo Nharingo (34) has a bullet lodged in her skull and is awaiting operation at Gweru Provincial Hospital.
Her younger sister Ms Nyasha (31) is said to be out of the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and is recuperating in a female surgical ward.
Police are appealing to members of the public that might have information leading to the arrest of the Gweru businessman, Peter Dube (35) who is on the run after he allegedly shot four people resulting in the death of two of the victims last Friday, to contact any nearest police station.
Dube the owner of Mixed Blend Car Sale in Gweru, allegedly committed the ruthless crime as his wife watched in horror. The shooting at Bensam Flats in the early hours of Friday has been the talk of the City of Progress.
Dube had allegedly confronted his girlfriend Ms Nyasha after suspecting infidelity. The father of the two hospitalised women Mr Bothwell Nharingo said they remained hopeful that his daughters will leave the hospital soon.
He said doctors are working on operating Nyaradzo in an attempt to remove a bullet from her head. Mr Nharingo said Nyasha is now out of danger and is admitted to the female surgical ward.
“Nyasha and Nyaradzo are still in hospital. Nyasha is out of danger but as of Nyaradzo, doctors want to remove a bullet stuck in her skull,” he said in an interview yesterday.
It also emerged yesterday that Peter’s second shooting target after he shot and killed a suspected lover of his girlfriend, Mr Shelton Chinhango, was his five-year-old son Mukudzei Brendon Dube.
He only turned his gun on his second victim, Ms Gamuchirai Mudungwe (30) after she wailed and rushed towards him in an attempt to stop him from shooting the son.
According to one of the survivors, a 16-year old girl, who was seated in the front passenger seat holding Dube’s son when he opened fire on Chinhango, Dube’s second target was the boy.
“As he pointed the gun on me and his son, my sister’s friend, Ms Mudungwe, shouted at him and screamed asking why he wanted to kill me and his son that was when he turned the gun on Ms Mudungwe.
“He then went to Nyasha and Nyaradzo inside the flat as I ran away with the boy and I heard two gunshots inside the flat,” she said.
The girl said she was still traumatised by the incident in which she escaped the shooting by a whisker.
“I was supposed to be the second target but by God’s grace, I survived together with the boy,” she said.
Police dismissed social media reports that Dube was spotted in Bulawayo and exchanged gunshots with the police in Pumula suburb.
Acting Midlands provincial police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Ethel Mukwende said police were still hunting for Dube who allegedly dumped his silver Honda Fit car at the crime scene.
She also said reports doing rounds on social media that Dube was spotted in Bulawayo where he exchanged gun shots with the police were false.
“There was never any exchange of fire involving the police and Dube in Bulawayo as what is being peddled on social media.
“We are still looking for Dube and we appeal to members of the public who might have information regarding his whereabouts to approach their nearest police station so that he is brought to book,” said Asst Insp Mukwende. -Chronicle
QUESTIONS continue being asked whether Walter Magaya has called time on sponsoring Premier Soccer League side Yadah or not as the Harare-based side remains the only team yet to conduct Covid-19 tests.
The 2021 season is pencilled to kick-off in just over two weeks following the Government’s decision to allow all sports to resume activities following a blanket freeze in March last year to help combat the spread of the pandemic.
There will be a gradual return to football, with the PSL and women’s football set to get the ball rolling before other lower tier leagues resume.
PSL media and liaison officer Kudzai Bare said by last Friday, they had not heard from Yadah regarding the issue of testing for Covid-19.
“I had not heard anything from them by the end of business on Friday,” said Bare. Last week she said all teams except Yadah had done Covid-19 tests.
Yadah submitted their registration papers to the PSL with the rest of the teams but their failure to undergo requisite Covid-19 tests continue to raise eyebrows.
In the event they do the tests this week, they will have a short preparatory period compared to the other teams.
Yadah chairman Everson Chatambudza did not respond to messages sent to him. Chronicle

On Friday morning Gweru woke up to the news of a frenzied gun attack, in which prominent car dealer Peter Dube (35) shot and killed his second wife’s alleged lover, Shelton Chinhango, also a car dealer based in Kwekwe and her friend Gamuchirai Mudungwe (30).
He also shot and injured his second wife, Nyasha Nharingo (31) and her sister Nyaradzo (34). Nyaradzo’s 16-year-old daughter, who witnessed the horrific incident said she and her cousin, a toddler, who is Dube’s son with Nyasha, survived death by a whisker after he attempted to fire the gun at them only to be refrained by Mudungwe. She narrated the ordeal to Sunday News yesterday.
“One of the shooting victims, Nyaradzo Nharingo is my mother and Nyasha is her sister. On the day of the shooting, my mother, my aunt and their friends went to Masvingo to collect my mother’s passport. She wanted to fly to South Africa on Friday where she was supposed to assume duty on a new job she had got. Dube came home and locked the door. He then told me that we were going to Senga and he also fired the maid and gave her, her salary. I then informed my mother around 8pm and they said they were in Mvuma on their way back,” she said.
The teenage girl said all hell broke loose when Nyasha arrived from Masvingo.
“When my mother and my aunt arrived in the company of their friends, they asked me to tell Dube to open the door but he refused. He told me to pack all our belongings and leave. My mother started shouting at him and demanded that he opens the door for me to get out.
“My mother then told him that they were going to call the police. His first wife also arrived. She said Dube had lied to her saying that he was going to Kadoma to attend to a breakdown and took US$50 which he used to pay the maid.
When my mother went to the police station, he then chucked me out of the house. This was around 10pm,” she said.
She said when the police arrived and found the children outside, they assumed that the situation was under control and left. However, Dube continued to refuse to open the door for the women to get their clothes.
“Dube refused to open the door. His first wife then called his brother Advance Dube informing him about the issue.
Advance managed to convince his brother to open the door. My aunt then started packing and went into the car which was waiting for us downstairs. My mother then went back to collect her bag as well,” she said.
The 16-year old said Dube suddenly went berserk and shot the alleged boyfriend Chinhango, Mudungwe, Nyasha and Nyaradzo.
“Dube then came down the stairs running and went into his car and took a pistol. He then came to the Toyota Haice that we were in and confronted the driver (Shelton) accusing him of snatching his wife. He cocked his gun and shot the driver on the head. I then opened the door and ran away. He then pointed the gun at me but my mother’s friend Gamuchirai Mudungwe restrained him. He then turned on her and shot her on the chest. He went upstairs and shot my mother and my aunt. After that I saw the maid coming downstairs screaming for help,” she said.

HIS debut season at Azam might have been punctuated by injuries yet Zimbabwean striker, Prince Dube is gunning for the Golden Boot in the Vodacom Tanzania Mainland Premier League.
With seven matches left for Azam, Dube is the joint top scorer in the Tanzanian Premier League with 11 goals, the same as Meddie Kagere of Simba Sports Club. Kagere, a Rwandan national has won the Golden Boot in Tanzania’s top league for two seasons in a row and is looking at making it three on the trot. The 34-year-old former Gor Mahia striker scored 22 goals last season having found the target 23 times in the period 2018/19.
Ivorian Kipre Tchetche was the last Azam player to win the league’s Golden Boot when he netted 17 goals in the 2012/13 season to help the team finish second. Kagere will not have it easy this season with Dube very much in the race for the top scorer’s award. Dube was on target on Thursday when Azam secured a 2-2 away against Dodoma, with the other goal for the Chamazi Millionaires coming from former FC Platinum striker Obrey Chirwa.
The Warriors striker now has 11 goals and six assists in the league for third placed Azam. What gives Dube an advantage over Kagere is that the Zimbabwean is Azam’s first choice striker and penalty taker. Kagere on the other hand has been relegated to second choice striker behind Chris Mugalu.
John Bocco of Simba is in 10 goals, with the Azam duo of Idd Seleman and Ayoub Lyanga both on eight.
Last season, the leading top scorer for Azam in the league was Chirwa with 12 goals. It has not been a smooth season for Dube since he joined the Tanzania free spenders from Highlanders in August last year.
Dube was sidelined for six weeks after he fell and broke an ulna bone on his left forearm in a Tanzania Mainland Premier League clash with Young Africans played at the Azam Complex Stadium in November last year.
Azam sent the Warriors striker to the Vincent Pallotti Hospital in Cape Town South Africa for treatment. Dube underwent a successful operation on his forearm at the beginning of December and made a return to action in January.
It will be a huge achievement for Dube if he wins the Golden Boot and that might show national team coach Zdravko Logarusic just how good he is since the Croatian believes he is a playing in a smaller league.
Dube has opportunity to add to his goal tally when Azam face Young Sports Club away at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium this evening. — The Sunday News

One of the longest-serving Dendera musicians, Allan Chimbetu says his doors are always open for up-and-coming artistes who want assistance.
Allan is the surviving sibling of Simon, Brian and Naison, who are all credited for promoting Dendera genre.
Having started music in 1992, Allan otherwise known as Professor, feels he has enough experience to be able to nurture new talent and show them the way.
“Technically I started music in 1992 but I would want to start when Simon died in 2005. I made the toughest decision to take over the band. I just told myself that Dendera had to go on despite the death of my brothers,” said Chimbetu.
Given his own challenges, Chimbetu says music is an industry which requires fortitude and courage.
“I had to wake up every day and focus on my music. I faced so many challenges though, especially when there was no will left by the deceased. There were quarrels but my focus was music and it led me to release my first album titled Sonny in 2005 which was well received,” he said.
Chimbetu says if it was not for his passion for music, he could have dumped the band a long time ago.
“I went to the United Kingdom more than 12 times on musical tours with Simon and a number of our band members left and ran away. I remained because of my passion for music and not money,” he said.
Following the death of his siblings some of their children also decided to take up music,
Some fans were divided as to who the real deal in Dendera music was.
Sulu, Tyson, Saaiwe and Douglas are some of the children who decided to take the music route.
Allan says despite a few disagreements here and there, he had managed to pull the family together.
“Yes, there were some disagreements just like any other family but as the remaining father, my mission is to bring the family together, I will not back down to any challenge as I try to bring the family together,” he said.
Recently, Allan teamed up with his son, Sulu on the track Nhodzerai from his latest Urgent matter album.
Besides featuring members of his own family, Allan also teamed up with Australia-based Cozy Cozile on another track Hombarume.
He said he wanted to assist not only members of this family but every artiste.
“It’s high time I help up-and-coming artistes because of the experience I have acquired from the time I started this music business. I’m open to those who want to do music,” said Allan.- Chronicle
Nyasha Mushekwi started off his new campaign in China on a high note after scoring a brace for Zhejiang Greentown on Saturday.
Greentown beat Zibo Sunday 4-0 in the opening match of the 2021 Chinese second division season, with Mushekwi finding the back of the net twice in the second half.
The Zimbabwean striker first hit the target in the 55th minute to double his side’s lead. He came back again in the 89th minute to seal the victory.

The result, meanwhile, temporarily put Greentown on top of Chinese League One, Group A table.- Soccer 24 Zimbabwe
The twelve clubs that attempted to set up the breakaway European Super League will face sanctions for their actions, UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin has insisted.
Six sides from England namely Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea, Liverpool, Tottenham and Arsenal plus three teams from Spain – Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid and Barcelona and Italian trio Juventus, AC Milan and Inter Milan were involved in the proposed tournament.
However, the controversial £4.6 billion competition suffered a stillbirth after several teams pulled out due to huge backlash from their fans and worldwide condemnation, including politicians.
Only Juventus, Real Madrid and Barcelona still believe the European Super League can happen.
According to the Mail, as cited by SkySports, Ceferin admitted sanctions for the six English clubs would be the most lenient for leaving first, with Juve, Barca and Real set to be given strong punishment.
“Let’s see. Everyone has to take consequences for what they did and we cannot pretend nothing happened,” Ceferin said. “You cannot do something like that and just say ‘I’ve been punished because everybody hates me’.
“They don’t have problems because of anyone else but themselves. It’s not OK what they did and we will see in the next few days what we have to do.- Soccer 24 Zimbabwe
Tinashe Sambiri|MDC Alliance leader President Nelson Chamisa has paid tribute to victims of the Aiforce of Zimbabwe helicopter crash.
The helicopter crashed into a house outside the capital Harare, killing a child and all three crew members.
The accident took place on Friday in Acturus, around 30 kilometres east of Harare.
President Chamisa urged the nation to pray for the families of the crash victims.
“My deepest condolences to the families of WCMG Thomas Manyowa, Flt Lt Anita Mapiye, Flt Sgt Tinodiwanashe Chikamhi and young Jade Fenyere who tragically died after a horrific AFZ helicopter crash.
May Jada and her mother injured in the crash find quick & full recovery! May God, The Father comfort all the affected families during this difficult period,” said President Chamisa in a brief statement.

A 15-minute daily stretching session can help make your joints more limber.Javier Diez/ If you have psoriatic arthritis, you may worry that exercise will worsen your condition. In fact, physical activity is an essential part of caring for your health: It can improve your strength, endurance, and flexibility, and help you manage your weight.
While all forms of exercise are beneficial, gentle stretches can play a key role in relieving psoriatic arthritis symptoms.
When your tendons are loose and limber, you may be less likely to experience pain and tightness, according to the patient advocacy group CreakyJoints.
Plus, “increasing your flexibility helps prevent injury,” says M. Elaine Husni, MD, MPH, the vice chair of rheumatology and the director of the arthritis and musculoskeletal center at the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio. “Daily stretching is an underemphasized part of psoriatic arthritis exercise.”
You’ll want to devote at least 15 minutes a day to stretching, but you should consider doing more, says Dr. Husni.
To get off on the right foot with any new stretching regimen, “you should start with a physical therapist to evaluate your physical ability and come up with a plan,” Husni says. “Once you can stretch without injuring yourself, you can make the plan part of your daily routine.”
Physical therapists are licensed by the state where they practice and work in a variety of settings, according to the American College of Rheumatology (ACR), including hospitals, outpatient clinics, and private practices.
In addition to creating a stretching plan tailored to your individual needs, a physical therapist will teach you how to monitor and adjust your program in response to changes in your psoriatic arthritis pain level, disease activity, and response to treatment, says the ACR.
Stretches for Psoriatic Arthritis Hands and Fingers hands laid out on table
“Fingers are a common site of psoriatic arthritis pain, swelling, and stiffness,” Husni says. To stretch them:
Rest your hand on a table palm up, and bend the fingers together all the way in towards the palm. Rest your hand on the table palm down, and, one at a time, lift each finger as high as you can. Hold your hand out and touch each fingertip to the tip of your thumb. Repeat five times. Here’s a simple stretch for hands:
Rest your forearm on a table and let your hand hang down. Clench your fingers while flexing your wrist so your fist comes up as far as possible. Repeat 10 times

Stretch-and-hold exercises can improve flexibility in your neck. “When you do your stretches, you want to stay and hold, but not to the point where it becomes painful,” Husni says. “Stop if it hurts.”
To stretch your neck:
Sitting upright in a straight-backed chair, bend your head sideways toward your shoulder; stretch and hold for about five seconds. Keeping your back still, turn your head to the other side as far as you can without pain, holding the stretch for five seconds. Repeat five times.

To stretch your back:
Lie on your back on a firm, flat surface with your feet flat on the ground and your knees bent. Tighten your belly to push your back as flat as you can for five seconds, then release. Repeat 10 times.
For another stretch, roll your knees from side to side to side while keeping your back on the ground.

By A Correspondent- A 30 year old man from Chakaipa Village under Chief Gwesela in Zhombe hanged himself at his in-law’s homestead following a misunderstanding with his wife over infidelity.
Peter Mlauzi hanged himself after discovering that his wife Blessing Manokore was having an affair. Chief Gwesela confirmed the development to B-Metro saying the village was still shocked by the incident.
“Mlauzi’s actions shocked the whole village and we’re still trying to come to terms with this unusual incident.
“He was a very hard-working man and he worked tirelessly as a gold panner to provide for his family and his in-laws,” he said.
Chief Gwesela said on the fateful day, Mlauzi discovered that his wife was having an affair with another man from the village.
“Upon hearing the news of his wife’s illicit affair, he felt betrayed and he decided to end his life by hanging himself at his mother-in-law’s homestead,” said Chief Gwesela.
He said Mlauzi had since been buried. Chief Gwesela also said that he was yet to meet the Manokores so that a cleansing ceremony is conducted as the incident could be a bad omen to the village.
“I am meeting with the family next week so that we conduct a cleansing ceremony to help appease Mlauzi’s spirit because if that is not done, we might have problems,” he said.
He appealed to members of the public to always seek intervention from a third party in cases of disputes.-bmetro
By A Correspondent- In a dramatic incident, a Form Four pupil at Lobengula High School in Bulawayo stabbed his classmate on the shoulder with an okapi knife as punishment for poking fun at him while in class.
According to a source at the school, the mini-drama which lasted about 10 minutes happened on Monday outside the school premises.
The source said while Mike Siziba (16) and his classmate Simbarashe Manjokota were a few metres away from the school premises, heading home, their fellow classmate Keith Mlauzi (17) approached them while huffing in heavy anger.
“He started accusing Mike of being in the habit of poking fun at him when in class thereby belittling him. The situation became tense as the angry Keith started to push and shove Mike,” said a teacher who requested strict anonymity.
The situation spiralled out of control and Keith being on a mission to settle a score, fumbled in his pocket and took out a knife and stabbed Mike on the shoulder.
“He left the knife stuck on his shoulder and ran away. Mike writhed in agony. Luckily a senior teacher arrived at the scene and rendered first aid on him before he phoned an ambulance which came after about 30 minutes. He was ferried to Mpilo Central Hospital where he was treated,” said the teacher.
Bulawayo police spokesperson Inspector Abednico Ncube confirmed the incident: “We arrested a 17-year-old student who stabbed his classmate after he accused him of poking fun at him in class. We condemn school bullying and would like to warn such learners who engage in bullying, that the long arm of the law will catch up with them.”
By A Correspondent- A man from Nyanga, Manicaland Province, recently confessed before a traditional court that he was a wizard and had acquired the charms from a Malawian traditional healer based in Marondera.
Isaiah Munembe’s relatives are now baying for his blood and demanding that he releases them from his wizardry web.
Munembe’s relatives brought him to Chief Saunyama’s court, with his younger brother, Anthony Munembe, and his sister-in-law Maybe Saunyama accusing him of sending his snake to kill their child, Anthony Junior.
Anthony Junior died recently from a snake bite and two weeks after his burial, the snake was spotted at the Munembe homestead attempting to attack his two siblings. In his confession before Chief Saunyama’s court, Isaiah said:
I used to walk on a wire and I was famous because of the theatrics. I had a large following but little to show for it.
However, after getting some ‘anointment oil’, my financial fortunes changed
I did not know that by applying python oil every night, the snake was finding its way into my life and setting base at my family home in Nyanga.
Little did I also know that I was being initiated into wizardry. While everyone was fast asleep, I would be up and roaming the village
Isaiah also told the court that he did not know if he was the one responsible for the death of his nephew.
However, Anthony Junior’s mother told the court that after her son was bitten by the snake, Munembe came looking for it and told them where to bury the deceased and the disappeared.
A Nyanga traditional healer, Sekuru Shingirayi Mukotsanjera, removed a stone, a needle, marijuana, and a small mirror from Isaiah’s body.
During the session with Sekuru Mukotsanjera, Munembe shocked everyone when he allegedly removed a sewing needle from his relative only identified as Mai Ndlovu.
Mai Ndlovu had reportedly been complaining of pain in her knee for many years.-ManicaPost
By A Correspondent- Seven Zimbabweans, including a man from Gweru who brutally murdered his wife and left their six-month-old son suckling from the corpse, have been placed on the International Police Organisation (Interpol) most wanted list for evading arrest after allegedly committing serious offences.
Tanaka Rusike (33) from Gweru, who has been on the run since December 2017, is wanted for allegedly killing his spouse, Nozipho Tecla Mpofu, in cold blood and leaving their child suckling and cuddling his mother’s corpse for nearly 24 hours before the crime was discovered.
Alert neighbours discovered the child beside his mother’s lifeless body after he started crying the following morning.
The seven are among 7 600 criminals who have been placed on Interpol’s Red Notice and are wanted for committing offences ranging from terrorism, corruption, human trafficking and escaping lawful custody.
A Red Notice is a request to law enforcement agencies worldwide to locate and provisionally arrest a person pending extradition, surrender, or similar legal action.
The notice is issued for fugitives wanted either for prosecution or to serve a sentence after judicial proceedings in the country issuing the request.
Interpol has issued 34 Red Notices for fugitives wanted in 15 SADC countries, with Eswatini (14) accounting for the most wanted fugitives followed by South Africa (9).
However, Interpol does not publish the names of all wanted criminals, a deliberate tactic to avoid alerting fugitives who will likely limit travelling once they are aware of a Red Notice against their name.
National police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi told The Sunday Mail yesterday that Rusike has been on the run for more than three years.
“I can confirm that Tanaka Rusike of Gweru is on the Red Notice list,” said Asst Comm Nyathi.
“He is wanted in connection with a murder case involving his wife which took place in 2017.
“Being placed on the Red Notice indicates that he is wanted and can be arrested anywhere in the world where he is located.”
Interpol is also looking for Bornface Madunusa (34) of Gokwe, who is wanted by police to answer to charges of murder and has also been placed on the most wanted list.
In 2018, Madunusa, who was based at 5 Infantry, Battlefields in Kwekwe allegedly murdered his 28-year-old wife Eunice Marimbire by strangling her with a rope after accusing her of infidelity.
He fled from the scene leaving Marimbire’s body lying on the floor, covered by blankets before it was discovered by his landlord the following morning.
Moreblessing Mavuso (46) from Bulawayo, who is also on the Red Notice, is wanted by police in Eswatini for fraud and corruption.
According to Eswatini media reports, Mavuso, who was married to former parliamentarian Machawe Mavuso, disappeared soon after she was charged for making fraudulent payments while working for the country’s Finance Ministry as an assistant accountant.
Two of her accomplices who worked in the Ministry of Agriculture were arrested and appeared in court.
Mavuso is alleged to have taken a three-week leave from work after being summoned by the Eswatini civil service commission to answer to the fraud charges.
She, however, did not report back to work when her leave lapsed.
South African police, through Interpol, are looking for Andrew Ndlovu (31), who also uses the alias Andrea Druza, from Gweru to answer to allegations of house breaking and murder.
Xolani Dube (26) and Tumelo Moyo (27) are wanted in Botswana to answer to charges of escaping from lawful custody.
Police are also looking for Travor Manata (42) from Hwedza who is wanted for allegedly committing murder.
Interpol is the world’s largest international police organisation, with 190 member countries, including Zimbabwe, whose work includes facilitating cross-border collaboration between law enforcement organisations.
Zimbabwe Republic Police Commissioner-General Goodwin Matanga has pleaded with the government to urgently provide accommodation for 30 000 police officers who are reportedly renting private accommodation.
Matanga said the current set up is affecting the officers’ execution of their duties at the same time endangering their security.
Speaking during his visit to Masvingo police on Thursday last week, Matanga said:
I wish to place on record that, the Zimbabwe Republic Police has only 12 000 housing units that are accommodating 18 760 police officers. Of these, 10 945 are sharing. Resultantly, over 30 000 police officers are renting private accommodation, a situation that compromises the security of our members. It is, therefore, my fervent hope and prayer that Government urgently intervenes.
Home Affairs and Cultural Heritage Minister Kazembe Kazembe also remarked that the shortage of accommodation among police officers was a major concern.
He said:
Certainly, resource constraints manifest through an array of challenges, key among them being the shortage of residential and office accommodation, transport and non-payment of travelling and subsistence allowances. The shortage of accommodation which has, unfortunately, resulted in some members seeking private rental accommodation has always been a cause of concern.
This position is unpleasant given that apart from compromising the security of members, it also has huge financial implications. To that end, efforts are being made to ensure police officers and members get decent accommodation.
Kazembe said the government was aware of the challenges the ZRP was facing adding that efforts are being made to improve police effectiveness through the procurement of more operational vehicles-statemedia

The Harare City Council is threatening to unleash debt collectors, disconnect water supplies and take legal action on all ratepayers who are in arrears for rates with the local authority.
In some parts of Harare, the Local authority has dispatched letters of demand in a bid to coerce ratepayers to pay their dues.
“Before commencing legal proceedings in terms of the legislation, I am obliged to demand full payment of the amount stated above within 14 days of this notice, failing which, legal action will be effected without further warning to you, with costs charge to your account”, reads part of the letter from the Treasury Department.
A New Mabvuku resident who was in receipt of the letter of “final demand” from the local authority said, “It should be residents dragging the Council to court for non-provision of services, right now I live with raw sewerage which they can’t repair, no water we will also organize court action this is not fair.”
The City is also threatening to disconnect water supplies to all its debtors and claims that it is now owed ZWL$5 Billion.
The demand for full payment of debts comes at a time when the local authority is not providing the services which it is claiming payment for which some areas have gone for more than 10 years without water, toilets flooded with sewer and piles of uncollected garbage have become permanent features in high density areas.
On its social media platform, the Harare City Council has warned “Will soon deploy debt collectors to collect all outstanding amounts. The best thing is to do a payment plan now.”
In 2018 the use of debt collectors was declared unlawful after Well Cash Debt Collectors were hired by the City of Harare were declared unlawful as it violated section 9(2)(b) of the Legal Practitioners Act 27:07.
Residents are entitled to law and have a legal right to administrative action that is lawful, reasonable and fair in terms of Section 68 of the Constitution of Zimbabwe.
The recent astronomic increases of rates by more than 400% premised on a faulty software currently used for billing by the local authority have casted doubt over the authenticity of the Council bills.
Some residents who have been religiously paying rates received ballooned bills with payments they have made to the local authority not captured or deducted.
Ratepayers across the City have been flocking to CHRA offices seeking for assistance over their ballooned bills. “I have paid every month my rates in full but am surprised that I now owe council ZWL30 000”, said a dejected Highfields woman.
CHRA reiterates its position that the amounts which the City is claiming to be owed are founded on a chaotic, shambolic and non-functional billing system hence there is a need for a real debt audit for the City debt.
CHRA also warns ratepayers not to be coerced to enter into payment plans on amounts of debts they are not agreeable to with the local authority and they should pay for services rendered.
We further call upon the City of Harare to depart from the SAGE Pastel software it is using for billing and payments and find an effective software that has the ability to show the balance after payments are made in real time.

Nashtv has issued a statement after an artiste contract with the company had leaked. There have been concerns that Nashtv is exploiting artistes who are very desperate for exposure. We present Nashtv’s statement in full below.
We have always considered ourselves a platform by the people, for the people and for that reason we value public views and feedback to the work we do. Due to the public outcry concerning some of our contracts with artists, we have taken it upon ourselves to realese all the copyrights to Color Vibes videos, Hotspot Videos and Live Shows that we have done. Any artiste who recorded with us and wants to claim the copyright to their song, should feel free to do that.
The leaked contract was designed to give the company maximum protection especially after paying the artist the agreed figure for the music or video In full. Our main thrust is to help turn Zimbabwean art sector into a self-funding industry and doing so in a sustainable way which safeguards our interests and investment over time.
Going forward we are working on a new contract and we will reach out to all arts stakeholders, critics included so that we come up with a contract which seeks to protect not only ourselves but the artist as well. We will have the contracts debates live on air until we come up with a solid win-win contract.
We are also opening our financials to public scrutiny and these will demonstrate that as Nash Group we have not made any profits from Nashtv. Financial gain was never the driving factor in this venture. We are solely driven by the desire to grow the arts industry and bring a feel-good experience to our country as proven over time.
Thank you for your continued support and feedback to our quest for a viable and rewarding arts industry. We have faith in the 10031 arts industry and we will continue learning as we go.
By A Correspondent- It has emerged that a polygamous Gweru businessman who went berserk and allegedly shot four people and killed two instantly, initially allegedly held hostage his son and his cousin for two hours while waiting for their mothers whom he later shot.
He shot and killed his second wife’s alleged lover, Shelton Chinhango, a Kwekwe-based car dealer and her friend Gamuchirai Mudungwe (30).
Dube also shot and injured his second wife, Nyasha Nharingo (31) and her sister Nyaradzo (34).
Nyaradzo’s 16-year-old daughter, who witnessed the horrific incident said she and her cousin, a toddler, who is Dube’s son with Nyasha, narrowly escaped death after he attempted to fire the gun at them only to be refrained by Mudungwe.
Speaking to The Sunday News on Saturday, she said:
One of the shooting victims, Nyaradzo Nharingo is my mother and Nyasha is her sister. I then informed my mother around 8 pm and they said they were in Mvuma on their way back.
When my mother and my aunt arrived in the company of their friends, they asked me to tell Dube to open the door but he refused. He told me to pack all our belongings and leave. My mother started shouting at him and demanded that he opens the door for me to get out.
My mother then told him that they were going to call the police. His first wife also arrived. She said Dube had lied to her saying that he was going to Kadoma to attend to a breakdown and took US$50 which he used to pay the maid.
When my mother went to the police station, he then chucked me out of the house. This was around 10 pm.
She said the police found the children outside the house and assumed the situation was now under control and left but Dube continued to refuse to open the door for the women to get their clothes.
She continued:
Dube refused to open the door. His first wife then called his brother Advance Dube informing him about the issue.
Advance managed to convince his brother to open the door. My aunt then started packing and went into the car which was waiting for us downstairs. My mother then went back to collect her bag as well.
Dube then came down the stairs running and went into his car and took a pistol. He then came to the Toyota Hiace that we were in and confronted the driver (Shelton) accusing him of snatching his wife. He cocked his gun and shot the driver in the head. I then opened the door and ran away. He then pointed the gun at me but my mother’s friend Gamuchirai Mudungwe restrained him. He then turned on her and shot her in the chest. He went upstairs and shot my mother and my aunt. After that I saw the maid coming downstairs screaming for help.
The Sunday News reports that the two sisters, Nyasha and Nyaradzo, who are battling for life at Gweru Provincial Hospital are said to have undergone a lifesaving surgery yesterday.
Acting Midlands police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Ethel Mukwende said police were still looking for Dube who allegedly contacted his friend and police on Friday promising to hand himself over. He is on the run.
Harare City Council has announced plans to deploy debt collectors saying the move will improve service delivery in the capital. The local government authority is also planning to disconnect defaulting ratepayers to compel them to pay their dues.
The local authority said:
_It’s true Harare City Council is on a drive to collect all the money it is owed by residents. Council has been under attack for poor service delivery because it has not been fully enforcing debt collection._
_There is no war against residents. Actions towards debt collection should be viewed in the positive because the net effect is to ensure residents receive services. Non-payment of bills kills service delivery, brings diseases and erases progress that has been achieved to date._
The announcement attracted some responses on social media. We present some of the responses below.
Harare City Council is on record saying that they use estimates in cases where they are unable to collect water meter readings. Reasons for failure, according to the city fathers, include the absence of property owners during the times when the officers come to conduct meter readings and the absence of resources like fuel to ferry officers to each and every property (houses etc).Troll Politics @Garwe31 is of the view that Harare City Council is now looking for money to pay workers. Says the handle:
_Bwahahahaha! Twakutsvaga mari yeku cover wage bill_
_So the main factor affecting service delivery is non-payment of bills not that all the money is being collected by ZANU PF as alleged by the party? Any initiative to bring back the sunshine status is appreciated_
_There is a hidden war. In fact, what progress are you talking about? We hear of e-billing right now your April bills are out but not sure if residents have received them. Cleared March statement but April bill shows current charges as in 120days overdue. Sort in house problems please._
_There is no water supply to disconnect anyways coz the supply is not there. We have reached a position where citizens have learnt to live without your services and see no reason to pay for services they don’t get._
By A Correspondent- A child marriage survivor in Shamva, Samantha Chidodo, has performed well at her A’Levels scoring 12 points.
Rozaria Memorial Trust chief executive, Nyaradzayi Gumbonzvanda, revealed the achievement narrating how the organization helped her get back into school to survive child marriage. Samantha is now looking forward to starting university.
A’Level results came out a few days ago.
Narrated Gumbonzvanda:
Samantha Chidodo, Nailed it! 12 points at A Level. I am over the moon with joy.
4 Years ago, Chief Bushu approached RMT requesting if we can support this girl who experienced child marriage and is passionate about going back to school.
We took Samantha in through our Education Assistance program. She passed her O levels and we immediately supported her to continue.
She went kwaJiti, a school in Shamva district just near pa Chakonda. As we paid her fees, she had to do vegetable vending to support herself and her child. She stays with parents, both are not working.
Last year she formed a community Nhanga which has over 60 other girls and they encourage each other to read, raise their income and to be responsible in relationships. The Chief promised to give them land for their agribusiness.
Now Samantha is a game changer. She has now been a speaker at many regional platforms. During CSW she was on a special global panel hosted by #OHCHR. Samantha wants to be a lawyer, and her road is now open.
As Rozaria Memorial Trust, we say congratulations to Sama, the sky is the limit. All we have to do now is to mobilise for funding so that she can enroll at the Uni, and wants she is in, the rest is doable. We are reaching out to those who provide scholarships to girls like Sama.

By A Correspondent- President Emmerson Mnangagwa is allegedly under pressure from Zanu-PF bigwigs to act on his trusted corruption buster Tabani Mpofu whom they accuse of extortion.
Mpofu is the head of the Special Anti-Corruption Unit (Sacu), which is housed in the president’s office.
According to sources, Mnangagwa was last week given a dossier that contained allegations that Mpofu and his Sacu were extorting prominent businesspeople targeted for arrest on suspicion of committing various crimes.
One of them is Pedzai Sakupwanya, also known as Scott, who was allegedly made to pay an unknown sum of money to have his case swept under the carpet.
Sacu allegedly arrested a Chinese national only identified as Mr Foi who was working with Sakupwanya at Redwing Mine in Penhalonga.
The mine was at the centre of a dispute between Sakupwanya’s Betterbrands and Probadek Investment, whose directors include Patricia Mtombgwera and Grant Chitate.
Sukupwanya and Foi were being accused of fraud, but the case was allegedly “killed” by the Sacu team.
However, it is a case involving a tycoon from Manicaland where Sacu investigators allegedly demanded payment for cover-up, which incensed Zanu-PF bigwigs in the province.
Defence minister Oppah Kashiri is said to have blown the lid on the alleged extortion attempts by the Sacu investigators after she was informed by Chipinge South MP Enock Porusingazi.
Kashiri is said to have met Mnangagwa over the matter.
Initially Porusingazi was vague about his involvement in the matter.
“I have never met Tabani myself, but if your story glorifies that I exposed corruption, then I have no issue with that,” he said.
“At least it helps show the world that corruption can be fought.”
After two days, Porusingazi sent a text message saying: “I never dealt with the Sacu guys at all.”
Mpofu told The Standard that he was not aware of corruption allegations against him.
“I am not aware of the subject you are talking of,” he said.
Mnangagwa’s spokesperson George Charamba said reports that Mpofu had been reprimanded by the president were mere “fabrications”.
“Those are mere fabrications making rounds on social media,” Charamba told The Standard.
“Mpofu is still in charge.
“The Special Anti-Corruption Unit is an important institution on issues of accountability and transparency, hence the citizens would have been advised of any changes in the unit.”
Sacu has been accused of only targeting Mnangagwa’s opponents while turning a blind eye to corruption by those close to the ruling party and government.
By A Correspondent- Government parastatal Small and Medium Enterprises Development Corporation (SMEDCO) Zimbabwe has reduced its top managers to illegal Mshikashika car operators.
The quasi-government department is paying its managers a paltry ZWD5 000.00 leaving them with no option but to turn company cars into illegal Mshikashikas.
One of its managers who has turned his official car into a Mshikashika is the parastatal’s Bindura branch manager, identified as Mr Chando.
Mr Chando is now plying the Bindura-Matepatepa route using the company’s pick-up truck, before and after his official working hours.
Mr Chando is also said to be demanding fuel money from clients who would have applied for loans for him to visit their projects for his approval.
SEDCO policy does not allow clients to pay for site visits by the parastatal staff, but Chando is said to be doing this so that he augments his meagre salary.
SEDCO workers who spoke to this publication but refused to be named for fear of victimisation said, the parastatal had neglected them.
“ We are suffering while the top management in Harare where our head office is are enjoying. They are giving us money which is not even enough to pay for rentals. What do can you buy with 5000 RTGs, to be honest?”. Said the workers.
Efforts by Zimeye.com to get a comment from the Minister of Women Affairs, Community, Small and Medium Enterprises, Sithembiso Nyoni whose portfolio oversees and commands SEDCO’s operations were fruitless.
By A Correspondent- Zanu PF Mazowe District party coordinator Simon Stewart has been embroiled in a bribery storm and fanning factionalism.
Sources from Mazowe branch allege he is getting bribes and causing confusing for his selfish gains.
Said a source:
“The fights in Mazowe are being caused by the party coordinator, he is greedy hence he is taking bribes from senior guys and fanning factionalism by disrupting some of the meetings from other members,” lamented a source who refused to be named.
Another reliable source accused Stewart of abusing the party vehicle and sleeping with married women.
“There is a big problem here in our district the coordinator is abusing the party vehicle going with it in different bars and using it to carry married women to different places where he is sleeping with them in the name of the party,” she added.
The disgruntled members also said action should be taken as that will divide votes in 2023.
Stewart was not picking his calls up to the time of this writing.
By A Correspondent- MDC Alliance says leaders of the rival MDC-T in Matabeleland South are tracing their footsteps back to the party after initially joining the Douglas Mwonzora-led outfit.
Former MDC Alliance Matabeleland South chairperson Watchy Sibanda, who had defected to the MDC-T then led by Thokozani Khupe, was re-admitted into the Nelson Chamisa party last week.
Sibanda resigned from the Mwonzoraled party.
Another bigwig who had gone with Khupe, Mbiyezwe Nare, has also rejoined MDC Alliance in Gwanda district, Ndlela said.
“We welcome home all these comrades. MDC Alliance is home for all who seriously want a better Zimbabwe,” he added.
“We are getting ready to take over power from the failed government of Zanu-PF.”
He claimed that people in Matabeleland were “fast seeing that Mwonzora and Khupe are a Zanu-PF project”.
Ndlela challenged Mwonzora to try and have a meeting or mini rally in Matabeleland if he wanted to see that he has no followers in the region.
“People want change here,” he said.
“They want closure to the unresolved Gukurahundi conflict and cannot stomach all those who support perpetrators of the genocide,” he said.
“The people are clear the best foot forward in that regard is president Chamisa.” Mwonzora left the MDC Alliance last year after the Supreme Court ruled that Chamisa’s succession of MDC founder Morgan Tsvangirai was illegal.
The Manicaland senator beat Khupe for the presidency of the party at an extraordinary congress in December last year.

By A Correspondent-The Gweru businessman who went berserk and allegedly shot four people and killed two instantly, has hinted on handing over himself to the police.

Harare, Zimbabwe(CNN)Zimbabwe will “soon” start selling rights to shoot as many as 500 elephants this year, the country announced this week.
Tinashe Farawo, a spokesman for the Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority, told CNN Thursday that declining tourism revenue owing to the coronavirus pandemic was among the main reasons for the move.
Suspected poacher trampled to death by elephants in South Africa Suspected poacher trampled to death by elephants in South Africa “We eat what we kill,” Farawo said. “We have a budget of about $25 million for our operations which is raised — partly — through sports hunting, but you know tourism is as good as dead at the moment due to the coronavirus pandemic.”
The announcement comes just weeks after the African forest elephant was declared critically endangered and the African savanna elephant was declared endangered.
Simiso Mlevu, a spokeswoman for the Center for Natural Resource Governance, a Zimbabwe environmental and human rights advocacy group, said the decision to allow elephant hunting was “appalling.”
“We strongly condemn trophy hunting — a practice that agitates wild animals and escalates human-wild life conflicts,” Mlevu said.
“It is almost certain that surviving families of wildlife families that witness the senseless gunning down of their family members mete out vengeance on the hapless local villagers,” Mlevu said.
“Contrary to government arguments that trophy hunting is meant to assist with conservation, the practice is motivated by greed and often the money is not even accounted for. There is a need for more innovative and eco-friendly measures to improve revenue generation from photo safaris and tourism in general,” added Mlevu.
Zimbabwe is not alone in the region in allowing elephant hunting for a fee, in December, Namibia put 170 “high value” wild elephants up for sale due to drought and an increase in elephant numbers.
AS the country continues to digest the news of a polygamous Gweru businessman who went berserk and allegedly shot four people and killed two instantly, it has emerged that he initially allegedly held hostage his son and his cousin for two hours while waiting for their mothers whom he later shot.
In addition, he also pointed the firearm at the two children but was refrained by one of the women whom he later shot and is battling for life at Gweru Provincial Hospital.
The two sisters who are battling for life at Gweru Provincial Hospital are said to have undergone a lifesaving surgery yesterday. Dube is still on the run but sources said he contacted his friend and police later on Friday and promised to hand himself over. Acting Midlands police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Ethel Mukwende said police were still looking for him.

By A Correspondent- A 39 year old Japanese man has been arrested on fraud charges after he reportedly dated over 35 women at the same time as a strategy to receive birthday gifts.
The accused, Takashi Miyagawa, a part-time worker, is being investigated for allegedly defrauding dozens of women by pretending he was serious about each of their relationships and receiving hundreds of pounds worth of gifts from them.
The Japanese international was apparently caught out when the women joined forces to create a victims’ association after discovering his extensive infidelity and reported him to the police.
It is alleged that Migawa gave each woman a different date for his birthday to ensure that he would constantly receive birthday gifts all year round.
One 47-year-old woman reportedly thought his birthday was on February 22, another aged 40 was told it was July, while another 35-year-old believed his birthday was in April.
According to local media, Migawa allegedly received a total of around 100 000 yen (£668) worth of gifts from the women, including a £200 suit.-Independent

By A Correspondent- Simbarashe Dehwah (26), an employee with Population Services International (PSI) in Gweru has been slapped with a 12 months’ jail term after he allegedly grabbed a security guard’s private parts.
Dehwa tried to entice Partson Mazo, a security guard at Cabs to have sex when he found him guarding the property at around 10pm on March 27, 2021.
He asked the complaint to remove his mask, jacket and hat. The accused also dropped his mask. Dehwah then asked to spend the night with the complainant.
As he was asking for a night together, Dehwah then grabbed the complaint’s private parts twice and pleaded for sex. The complaint tricked Dehwah into going to the other side of the Bank where he knew he would find his workmates.

Exactly six months after he died tragically, Mgcini “Cal_Vin” Nhliziyo’s mother still has a lot of unanswered questions about the night that claimed the life of her son, while simmering tensions with his girlfriend, who recently gave birth to a baby boy, have exploded into full conflict.
Mum hurting… Cal_Vin’s mother
So fraught have been relations between mother, Sinikiwe Luphahla and Michelle Maphosa, who looked set to be her daughter-in-law until the rapper’s demise on 25 October last year, that she ordered the removal of her son’s name from a poster advertising a baby shower for the child before he was born, as she objected to the hosting of the event and the venue where it was supposed to be held.
The gig was set to take place at Emakhandeni Cricket Club, the same joint that the rapper was coming from the night he lost his life just a stone’s throw away from his own home.
“I asked them if they had ever seen a baby shower in a bar?” the late rapper’s mother asked while in conversation with media personality Ezra “Tshisa” Sibanda.
“They said that they were doing it there because Cal_Vin loved the place. I asked them to take my son’s name out of the poster they were advertising on social media. I gave him that name on my own and I don’t want it used for a baby shower held at Cricket Club. It was too soon after my son’s death for a baby shower anyway. They could have done a baby welcome instead. They then changed and used a different name and said ‘we won’t use your son’s name’. Such things make us question if this person was really carrying Mgcini’s child,” she said.
Luphahla said relations with her would-be daughter-in-law had broken down, with Michelle accusing the rapper’s family of wishing death upon her. At the time of his death, Cal_Vin had one other child, Khloe, with another woman.
“She sends disrespectful messages to my sister in Famona asking why we refused to let her have a baby shower.
“That child is just disrespectful. She was saying she could tell we don’t love her and we probably wished that she and the child would die while she was giving birth. So, we can’t say we know if that was Cal_Vin’s child for sure. She never showed any heartbreak about his death,” she said.
The animosity between Luphahla and Michelle seems to stem partly from the suspicious circumstances surrounding his death half-a-year ago. According to the rapper’s mother, the events of 25 October still need to be unravelled if she is to get closure on the death of a son that she considered a close friend. Luphahla is also still aggrieved that she was not the first port-of-call when her son was injured, as she only got informed about the incident when he had been ferried to hospital, despite the fact that the incident happened only a few metres from her house.
“I heard from one of the three people that were with him. He said they had already sent Cal_Vin to the hospital because he had been hit by a car. He banged on my gate and he told me that and then he went home.
“I wonder why they first went to the Cricket Club before they came to my house. My home is nearer to where he was hit. At least I would have made more of an effort. I have a landline at home and I would have called an ambulance.
They chose to rush to Cricket Club and look for his friends instead of me. His girlfriend says she was the one who ran off to Cricket Club.
I work at Mpilo (Hospital) and I would have made a plan for my son to be treated before he died but they didn’t tell me. Everyone in this area knows where I work. His medical report shows that he bled too much. At least if I had the chance to act sooner I could have helped him,” she said.
Luphahla said she had been given sleepless nights by the fact that the stories of those that were with him on the night of the incident appear inconsistent. After the death of the rapper, police impounded the car of one suspect, Wilfred Mafuka. Luphahla said she had been informed by police that DNA tests showed that the blood found on the suspect’s car belonged to an animal, instead of a human being. She said police had informed her that they were still looking for the car responsible for her son’s demise.
“I don’t sleep. I’m always thinking. It was just me and my son in this house. I have had to get a grandchild to come and live with me to fill that void. When we ask those that were there on the night, they say there were four or five people in the car that hit him. My question then is how do they know how many people were in the car when they say they didn’t see anything about the incident? It means they saw something at least. When I asked if there was a fight at Cricket Club his girlfriend told me that although Cal_Vin sometimes caused fights there, on that particular night there had been none,” she said.
Luphahla said that her suspicions were also raised by the fact that the car that reportedly hit her son was moving slowly when he allegedly jumped on its bonnet and told his three companions that it will drop him off at home.
“They say he jumped on the bonnet of a car and then he asked the people in the car to drive him home while he was sitting on top. I don’t believe it. Why didn’t they pull him back realising that he was doing something dangerous?
They say the car was moving slowly and when it reached the corner the driver applied brakes and it threw him off. It was then that this person ran over him.
“I don’t understand why a car that was driving so slowly could run over a person like that. That was why I asked if they fought with anyone in the bar. His girlfriend says she found him on the ground and he said ‘I have been injured’.
That’s when they rushed back to Cricket Club,” she said. As pain and confusion reigned, Luphahla said that the rest of the events that surrounded her son’s death were a blur.
“Some guy in a car came to me and said ‘have you heard that Cal_Vin has been hit by a car? If you have money for fuel let us go to him.’ I called my sister in Famona and the man and his friend drove me to Mpilo Hospital. That’s where they dumped me. They didn’t even go in to see him. I don’t remember the make of the car or the faces of the two men who took me to Mpilo. At that point I was already behaving like a mad person because of what had happened.
“When I got to the hospital, I found Cal_Vin’s friend and his girlfriend there. They did not even have a drop of blood on them, or any indication that they had at least tried to help my son. They were clean. If the bleeding had been stopped, he could have been here,” she said. -Sunday News
Tinashe Sambiri|Villagers in Chilonga, Chiredzi say they are tired of being used by the Zanu PF regime.
Expressing their views at a meeting facilitated by a Non Governmental Organization based in Masvingo, the villagers denounced the Zanu PF “gluttons” for misleading the electorate.
“These people (Zanu PF bigwigs) are not at all concerned about our welfare. They just want our votes, nothing else,” fumed one villager.
“MDC Alliance leader, President Nelson Chamisa is the real deal. He is the vision bearer who can take us to the promised land,” said another villager.
“To those in power, let me say it out clearly, we are not your doormats. You think we are doormats that you can use to clean up their dirty feet at will.

The Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) Company is planning an exhibition with a difference this year that will see schoolchildren barred on the single public day set aside, while conferences, meetings and the prize-giving ceremony will be limited and attended strictly by invitation, Sunday News has learnt.
Last week ZITF, organisers of the country’s biggest annual trade expo announced that the show will make a return this year and will be held in July for four days instead of the usual five days, under tight Covid-19 mitigation protocols.
The exhibition was suspended last year after the country imposed a lockdown following the outbreak of Covid-19 in March.
This year’s exhibition will run from 20 to 23 July under the theme, “Showcasing the New Normal for Business and Industry: Realities and Opportunities.”
ZITF company chairman Mr Busisa Moyo told Sunday News that preparations have started with major consultations underway with various arms of Government especially those in charge of health to determine how some of the programmes will be held while at the same time observing Covid-19 protocols.
“We are still consulting and working that out with relevant health departments and more details will follow in due course,” he said.
Although Mr Moyo could not elaborate, Sunday News understands that there has been a recommendation to bar children on the single public day.
Three days have been set aside as business days while only one day instead of two, has been set aside as a public day.
In the past, ZITF had not only been an exhibition on trade but had become a major family event where the two public days were characterised by thousands of children in most cases accompanied by parents flocking to the Exhibition Centre where there will be a lot of entertainment. The exhibition was also held during school holidays to allow the children to attend.
However, according to this year’s school calendar during the days, schools will be open for the second term.
According to the re-arranged school calendar released by the Government for this year, the second term will run from 28 June to 10 September. Sunday News gathered that even on the business days, attendance will be mostly by invitation while conferences including the prize-giving ceremony will accommodate limited guests.
The Government has stipulated that gatherings are only limited to 50 people to minimise the spread of Covid-19.
The Government has also said people must always follow other measures to minimise the spread of Covid-19, such as social distancing, use of hand sanitisers and regular washing of hands.
A visit to the exhibition centre also revealed the need to urgently start preparations as tall grass has covered most of the spaces.
In a statement on Thursday, Mr Moyo said over the course of the next few days teams will be in touch with exhibitors, buyers and other key stakeholders with information on the show’s operational guidelines.
He also noted that stakeholders should expect to see new features which include heightened health and safety protocols, modified venue layouts, more digital and hybrid meeting platforms, and an emphasis on numbers management.
Mr Moyo said this year’s exhibition will present an ideal platform for stakeholders to converge and rebuild businesses while navigating the contours of the new normal which has become largely buttressed by technology and navigate new regional and global developments.
He also noted that with the planned voluntary mass vaccination for Bulawayo, the company hopes that sufficiently high numbers would have been vaccinated to achieve some level of Covid-19 herd immunity in time for the show.
“Our industry has been heavily disrupted by the pandemic and it is only through the support of industry partners such as our exhibitors and service providers that we will emerge more resilient and offer our events as primary agents for ‘post-pandemic’ economic recovery and renewal,” he said.
While the ZITF traditionally draws thousands of local and foreign delegates, bringing in wider business benefits mainly to the tourism sector and down the value chain, this year’s edition will be taking place under health and safety regulations provided to reduce exposure risk. Meanwhile, as at 22 April (Thursday), Zimbabwe had 38 018 confirmed Covid-19 cases, including 35 073 recoveries and 1 555 deaths. To date, a total of 308 071 people have been vaccinated against Covid-19. -Sunday News

MLO was disturbed to learn that Zimbabwe has signed an agreement with the Russian state-owned company, State Atomic Energy Corporation to set up a nuclear power station in Zimbabwe. The sad news was confirmed by Information Minister Monica Mutsvangwa at the post cabinet press conference last week.
A nuclear power plant in the hands of proven aggressors, tribal oppressors human rights abusers who kill their own people and genocidists who attempted to annihilate Matabele nation in Matabeleland genocide of 1981 to 1987 is a big NO!
If such a dangerous move is allowed to see the light of day, Southern Africa, Africa as a whole, and the world would be the most unsafe space to live in.
According to Monica Mutsvagwa, Zimbabwe Information Minister, the nuclear program is for peaceful use of nuclear energy. But well known terrorists, aggressors, bullies and human rights abusers who have an appetite for genocide cannot be trusted with nuclear power.
One nuclear plant in Zimbabwe is a launch pad for nuclear weapons development. Before we know it nuclear rockets and bombs will be produced. Threats and reckless nuclear weapons tests similar to those that happen in North Korea will be the order of the day in Zimbabwe making the world very unsafe.
We urge the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and the powers that be to see the intended nuclear weapons proliferation program disguised under peaceful use of nuclear energy and nip it in the bud.
If states like Germany are not allowed to develop nuclear weapons because of their holocaust history, Zimbabwe must also be denied this move because of their gory past in Matabeleland where they committed genocide intended to wipe out all Matabele people. It is for the safety of the citizens of Matabeleland and the world.

A Zvishavane pirate taxi driver (25) has been arrested for allegedly raping a married woman who was also on her menstrual period after giving her a lift from Zvishavane.
The court heard that Mukudzeyi Zhou of Zvishavane allegedly raped the complainant in a bushy area in Shurugwi.
Zhou allegedly ignored the complainant’s plea to stop since she was on her menstrual period and raped her once without using protection. Zhou allegedly dumped the complainant around 8PM along Shurugwi-Gweru road after taking away her cellphone and national identity card.
This was heard during the appearance of Zhou before Gweru regional magistrate Mrs Phathekile Msipa facing one count of rape. Zhou pleaded not guilty.
He was remanded in custody to April 26 for judgment.
It is the State’s case that on June 15 last year, the complainant allegedly boarded Zhou’s vehicle at Zvishavane Bus Terminus going to Gweru.
In the vehicle, the court heard was a police jacket, police Outpost magazine and a pair of handcuffs — since the vehicle belongs to a police officer.
The court heard that along the way, Zhou allegedly didn’t pick any passengers stating that he was rushing to his home in Woodlands Park in Gweru.

Once again, and certainly not for the last time sadly, the football-loving public has to deal with the possibility of a Warriors home game being staged outside the country.
Since the Confederation of African Football (CAF) sanctioned all the country’s football arenas from hosting international matches citing lack of set international standards, two Warriors games have been played at the National Sports Stadium- the 2-2 draw with Algeria and the 0-2 loss to Zambia.
When the giant facility was reprieved for the Algeria game, CAF made it clear that the game would be staged there despite the need for bucket seats because no fans were allowed but they (the seats) are still a pre-requisite.
Bucket seats, as the continental governing body has repeatedly-insisted, are a basic requirement for any stadium hosting international matches.
For the past 12 months, the excuse we have been getting from those responsible for installing them has a name; Covid-19.
The respiratory ailment has without brought everything to halt but to what extent has it delayed the installation of bucket seats?
Deputy Sports Minister Tino Machakaire, on his tour of the facility early this year, revealed that the stadium was now under his ministry, after years of being administered by their Public Works counterparts.
Yesterday, ZIFA informed the nation that it has been hit with a US$2000 fine for the state of the National Sports Stadium on the day of the defeat to Zambia last month.
What that simply means is, there is a possibility of the upcoming World Cup 2022 qualifier between the Warriors and South Africa, slatted for June at the same venue, can be staged outside the country.
With all due respect to the authorities, is Covid-19 still the excuse for not having bucket seats at the National Sports Stadium?- Soccer 24 Zimbabwe

Last week two Harare political activists were tortured by government agents after being arrested for attending MDC Alliance vice chairperson Hon Job Sikhala’s court session.
On Thursday State Security agents forcibly removed Hon Joana Mamombe from a private hospital where she was receiving treatment.
” Our country is in the hands of the cruel… This must end! Together we must fix our broken politics,” President Chamisa wrote on Twitter
“The freedom promise has been deferred. The ‘crocodile’ liberators have betrayed the liberation promise. We need a new brand of politics,” added President Chamisa.
Tinashe Sambiri|Concerned Zimbabweans have launched a fundraising programme to assist families of tortured Harare political activists, Munyaradzi Mafararikwa and Lengwani Mavhunga.

Hon Sikhala also denounced the seizure of bedridden MDC Alliance official, Hon Joana Mamombe from a private hospital by State Security agents.
“Pathetic @edmnangagwa that a patient is forced out of treatment during this hour of the night.
@JoanaMamombe is entitled to life and shld not be toasted like that.
Heard that unknown individuals were hovering around her hospital ward for unknown intentions.”

Tinashe Sambiri|The MDC Alliance has launched a farming project to empower and equip rural women with self-help initiatives.
SG Hwende in Mhondoro
The project was launched in Mhondoro, Mashonaland West Province.
“I was in Mhondoro in Mashonaland West Province over the weekend touring some of the projects our party has initiated to empower rural communities.
The MDC Alliance is supporting rural women with vegetable seeds to grow vegetables to feed their families or sell.
We are also planning to launch an artificial insemination project to support cattle breeding in rural communities.
We are playing our part to fight endemic poverty among neglected and marginalized rural communities in Zimbabwe,” said MDC Alliance Secretary General Hon Charlton Hwende.
Tinashe Sambiri|Villagers in Chilonga, Chiredzi say they are tired of being used by the Zanu PF regime.
President Chamisa
A doormat is always on the ground you step on it as you enter and leave the house. We are tired of being used by these(Zanu PF) people. They want to seize our ancestral land to create space for a grass project, it’s not fair,” said a 70- year- old villager.
By A Correspondent- Teachers have threatened to go on strike to force government to re-verse its no-work no-salary policy against its workers who are claiming incapacitation.
Labour unions representing teachers said the stayaway would force government to concede to their salary demands of a living wage of be-tween US$520 and US$550 or the equivalent in local currency.
The decision by teachers comes after government this week said it would start implementing a no-work no-pay policy for absentee workers in response to a decision by the labour unions to report to work two days a week.
Government effected a 25% salary hike on teachers’ salaries this month, which saw the highest paid teacher earning $22 000, but unions have rejected the increment, demanding that government revert to the pre-October 2018 salaries of between US$520 and US$550 or equivalent in local currency.
In an interview yesterday, Zimbabwe National Teachers Union president Manuel Nyawo said teachers would escalate their fight for a salary review until government addressed the issue.
“We have decided to escalate our incapacitation fight. There’s no way we are going to rescind that deci-sion until the employer addresses our grievances. We don’t care what they will do. If they want to kill us, they can kill, but we will continue to press on with our demands and our adopt-ed decision of no pay, no work,” he said.
“It’s known that teachers are suffering, but the employer decides to entertain legislators who are earning up to $72 000, but teachers who are earning between $18 000 to $22 000 have to go through such a punishment of no work, no salary. What do they want to achieve with that?”
He said as teachers, they were not going to take the threats by the employer lightly, since the employer decided to punish them when they expected further negotiations.
We haven’t been given the opportunity to meet the Head of State (President Emmerson Mnangagwa) who has the final say in the matter before they take the punitive measure. We are so much disappointed that government seems to be unwilling to really appreciate the good work by teachers for long. The reasoning to punish us for incapacitation is synonymous with cruelty on us workers,” Nyawo said.
His sentiments were echoed by Progressive Teachers Union of Zimbabwe, president Takavafira Zhou, who said they had two major options of mobilising to stay away or take government to court under section 165 of the International Labour Organisation (ILO).
“If government sticks to its no-work, no-pay policy, we are going to mobilise teachers so that there will be little activity in the schools and stay-away. We also have another option to file a court application under the dispute of rights in terms of Section 165 of ILO after government unilaterally reduced teachers’ salaries,” Zhou said.
“That will be only an urgent chamber application for it to be heard. So we are busy mobilising other teachers unions and our colleagues in the Apex Council to declare a deadlock and then file the chamber application. If we are discorded we will achieve nothing so we have to speak with one voice.”
However, Zimbabwe Teachers Association (Zimta) secretary-general Goodwill Taderera said they were still to consult with their membership on the direction to take.
“Zimta will continue to consult with its wide structures from grassroots level up to leadership. Zimta always holds meetings at all those levels that will feed into the national executive to give direction,” he said.
“So I wouldn’t know what Zimta will do because Zimta is the membership.”
On Wednesday during a meeting held in Harare attended by seven un-ions that represent teachers to deliberate on issues affecting the educators, the leaders agreed to seek legal counsel to ensure that they are not victimised for not reporting for duty due to incapacitation.-newsday
By Emmanuael Koro- As you might know, climate change is one of the biggest threats to both wildlife and humankind.
Its impacts on and kills all forms of life in the air, on the land, freshwater bodies, rivers and seas and oceans.
Sadly, the Western animal rights groups are hell-bent on selfishly and selectively singling out emotional /charismatic wildlife protectionist issues linked to fundraising opportunities.
Therefore, they ignore the self-regulating Organisation of Petroleum Producing Countries (OPEC) and preferfor selfish fundraising purposes; to impose poaching and illegal wild trade-triggering bans on international wildlifehunting and all forms of wild trade, so that they can profit from it through fundraising.
Meanwhile, African wildlife and people become harmed by such decisions. Without trade, there are no funds for wildlife and habitat conservation. Also, no money socioeconomic developments in communities that co-exist with wildlife. This is a sad scenario because it disincentives conservation. When African communities don’t benefit from wildlife, they see no need to conserve it and its habitat. Hence the popular saying in southern African countries “Use It Or Lose It.”
However, for these animal rights groups, the best way to maintain their fundraising ventures is to continue the dictatorshipstyle imposition of bans on international wildlife hunting and all forms of wild trade, including ivory and rhino horn.
Because if there is no wildlife poaching and illegal trade in wild products (problems that they have created to profit from), then their lucrative fundraising opportunities fall away. Therefore, we should not be surprised by their ‘deafening silence’ when it comes to climate change because they can’t raise as muchmuch from the climate change issues as they do from emotional wildlife-focused issues.
If they were serious about saving wildlife, they should be brave enough to tell OPEC member countries (that include Iran, Saudi Arabia, USA, Qatar and Russia to name a few powerful ones) to stop oil production and use alternative sources of energy. But they won’t because there is not much money linked to climate change issues. Also, of course, because they are scared of them!
The secret about the Western animal rights’ agenda is out again, they follow the money, not wildlife conservation.
WE WOULD HAVE EXPECTED THEM THIS WEEK ON EARTH DAY, TO SAY SOMETHING ABOUT HOW OPEC IS DAMAGING NOT ONLY WILDLIFE BUT HUMAN LIVES.
By A Correspondent | A 36-year-old Zimbabwean woman died after receiving her a fatal dose of nicotine from a herbalist in Nottingham.
The herbalist has been sentenced to 2 years in prison.
Lyndon Nindi
Sophie Jekecha had been unwell for several weeks and complained of stomach pains and it was arranged for Lyndon Nindi, who offered traditional herbal remedies to the Zimbabwean community, to visit her at her home in Aspley.
The 49-year-old, of Kinross Drive in Newcastle, who also worked as a care worker, had attended the house in Aspley Lane under a pre-arranged appointment to carry out his treatment.
During the ritual he conducted, Nindi poured snuff (ground tobacco) in his palm and held it to her nose to inhale as well as putting snuff in a glass of water for her to drink. The intention was to make her vomit.
Part-way through, she became dizzy and needed to lie down. She then became increasingly distressed stating that she could not breathe.
At this point, Nindi called someone to seek advice and then applied more snuff to her body but she became more unwell and then unresponsive.
An ambulance was called but despite paramedics attempts to resuscitate her, she was pronounced dead shortly after the incident at around 7pm on 16 February 2020.
Officers from Nottinghamshire Police were called and arrested Nindi on suspicion of manslaughter at the scene.
During their investigation, they found that Ms Jekecha had died as a result of nicotine poisoning and that she had an undiagnosed heart condition which meant that she would be unlikely to survive a toxic challenge such as nicotine ingestion.
Nindi was sentenced at Nottingham Crown Court today (Friday 23 April) having previously pleaded guilty to manslaughter and administering a noxious substance (namely nicotine).
Detective Inspector Rebecca Hodgman said: “This is a tragic case which highlights the dangers of extreme herbal remedies.”Ms Jekecha leaves behind an 18-year-old daughter who is now being cared for by other family members.
“Our thoughts are with the family and friends at this time and we’re grateful to them for working with us during this difficult and complex investigation.”
President Emmerson Mnangagwa has mourned the two Air Force of Zimbabwe (AFZ) pilots and a technician, who perished after a helicopter crashed in the Chinyika area of Goromonzi, Mashonaland East Province yesterday.
The crash also killed an 18-month-old toddler identified as Jade Fenyere, who was sleeping in the house with her twin sister Jada, who escaped with burn injuries together with the mother who later tried to rescue them.
The mother and Jada were taken to Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals and later transferred to Trauma Centre in Borrowdale for treatment, and were reportedly in a stable condition last night.
The deceased AFZ members are Flight- Lieutenant Annita Mapiye who is Zimbabwe’s first female helicopter fighter pilot, Wing Commander Tinashe Thomas Mapiye and Flight Sergeant Chikamhi.
Flight-Lt Mapiye is said to have joined the AFZ in 2012 and had recently given birth.
The cause of the crash will be established after an aircraft accident investigation.
In a statement yesterday, President Mnangagwa said he learnt with great sorrow and grief the fatal air crash involving one of the AFZ helicopters, which was on routine training in the Goromonzi area.
“While investigations are still underway, it has come to my attention that all three members of the crew perished in the crash,” said President Mnangagwa.
“Even more heart-wrenching is the information that the helicopter crashed on a rondavel, claiming one other life and injuring a mother and a child.
“As we await details concerning this tragic incident, may I, on behalf of the party Zanu-PF, Government, the Zimbabwe Defence Forces, and on my behalf, express my deepest condolences to relatives of the airmen and the child who perished in this rare incident.”
The President wished a speedy recovery to the injured, adding that Government will do its utmost to ensure they receive urgent medical attention while the deceased are laid to rest with befitting dignity and honour.
The helicopter, an Agusta Bell 412 (AB 412), crashed into a house at Plot 2 of Gardner Road, Ward 16 in Goromonzi.
The AFZ, in a statement, said the helicopter was from Number 8 Sqn at Manyame Air Force Base (Manyame AFB), which was on a general handling training sortie in the Seke-Domboshava Training Area.
The AFZ said when contact could not be established with the aircraft, the Manyame Air Base activated a search and rescue operation, which resulted in the aircraft wreckage being identified.
Commander AFZ, Air Marshal Elson Moyo, said a dark cloud had engulfed the AFZ after news of the helicopter accident.
“We are deeply saddened by the loss of lives after the unfortunate accident. Our hearts and prayers are with the families of the deceased and those injured after the accident,” he said.
Father to the deceased girl, Mr Joseph Fenyere who owns Plot 2, said he was not at home when the mishap occurred.
“I was informed that a helicopter had crashed into the house after deflecting from a tree branch at a hilly platform a few metres away and burst into flames.
“When the house caught fire, my three children; twin girls, Jade and Jada were asleep inside, while their four-year-old sibling, Dean, was seated in the doorway,” said Mr Fenyere.
Upon hearing the ear-piercing burst, the mother and other people on the scene took flight but she later tried to retrieve her children from the burning house.
By then, Jade had already died while Dean was out of danger.
By A Correspondenti- Two Bulawayo lesbians have been involved in a messy divorce following an alleged abuse by the other partner. .
Linda Sphiwe Mpofu from Bulawayo’s Barbourfields suburb begged the court to protect her from her marauding ex-lover Brenda Mugabazi.
Linda told the Bulawayo Civil Court that she is now living in fear for her life as Brenda did not take the break-up well. She alleged that her ex-lover is violent and abusive and is now stalking her and threatening her for daring to end the relationship.
“On 25 December 2020, she beat me up and I sustained a swollen left knee and foot and I am still limping up to now. Whenever she meets me, she harasses me and declares that I can’t leave her,” reports B-Metro
According to a clearly distraught Linda, Brenda has an insatiable sexual appetite and is always demanding sex from her despite the fact that they are no longer together. In fact, Brenda is alleged to be demanding sex as a way of punishing Linda for leaving her.
Linda also claimed that she now wants to live “a normal life” and accused Brenda of having forced her into being a lesbian.
“I have been living a lesbian life with Brenda (Mugabazi) who forced me into it and I have realised that I cannot continue with it… I am begging the honourable court to grant me a protection order against her…This is because I want to live a normal life again.”
Following the assault that occurred on Christmas Day, Linda was granted an interim protection order in January after she told the court that she was terrified of Brenda’s abuse and sex demands.
She revealed that her situation had worsened as Brenda has been constantly threatening her saying that she will never let her go because she (Linda) is her wife.
