Chamisa Lieutenant Denied Bail

By A Correspondent| A Harare magistrate yesterday denied bail to former Budiriro legislator Costa Machingauta, who was arrested on charges of inciting violence and disorderly conduct.

Magistrate Ethel Chichera, in her ruling, acknowledged that while bail is a constitutional right, it can be denied if there are compelling reasons. She expressed concern over Machingauta’s alleged collaboration with Amos Chibaya, stating that his release could be problematic.

Chichera highlighted that the offence was committed via social media, which has the potential to spread violence, and should not be taken lightly. She concluded that the State had presented compelling reasons to keep Machingauta in custody.

Machingauta was remanded in custody until August 30 for further proceedings.

Prosecutor Polite Chikiwa alleged that between August 1 and 15 this year, Machingauta conspired with Chibaya and posted messages in Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) WhatsApp groups, encouraging the public to engage in violent activities.

Machingauta is accused of mobilizing CCC members to block roads, torch shops, and burn tyres during the recently concluded Southern African Development Community (SADC) Heads of State and Government Summit.

The State further alleged that as a result of this incitement, riotous activists on August 16 barricaded roads and burnt tyres at Mukonono Bridge along High Glen Road in Marimba, Harare.

In a separate incident, the State claimed that on August 15, Machingauta assaulted detectives from the CID Law and Order department, becoming violent and using abusive language against the officers.

Gayton McKenzie urges SA Government to cut funding for superfans

The new Minister of Sport, Arts and Culture Gayton McKenzie is winning the hearts of many South Africans as he announced plans to cut funding for superfans.

According to TimesLIVE reporting, the department sponsored travel and accommodation for superfans Mama Joy Chauke and Botha Msila’s trip to the Rugby World Cup in France. Apparently the department spent 1.3 million, this is a move which divided the whole of South Africa, Media powerhouse Robert Marawa was in support of the move, while opposition party MPS were against the move.

The opposition Parties believes that the money can also be used to fund employment programs implemented by the South African Government.

“I have stopped all trips for superfans. We have athletes and artists who are struggling to raise money to attend sporting events and exhibitions. How do we justify paying for fans? We will no longer pay for the trips and will use that money where it’s needed the most,” McKenzie said on Tuesday morning.

From now on Superfans will fund their own trips unless they find themselves a sponsor, this is going to affect the likes of Botha Msila, Mama Joy, Machaka and many others.

The youth is impressed by the changes made by Minister Gayton McKenzie under the national unity government (GNU).

The government funding for sport fans does not exist in many countries according to multiple reports.

McKenzie said: “How do we justify paying for fans? We shall no longer be paying for these trips and will use that money where it is needed the most.”

Red Cross Elections Clouded by Allegations of Rigging

By A Correspondent| The Zimbabwe Red Cross Society (ZRCS) elections have been overshadowed by allegations of vote rigging, with reports of some candidates being disqualified at the last minute.

The humanitarian organization is in the process of selecting its leadership, from district representatives to the national board. However, the current national executive, led by President Edison Mlambo and Secretary General Elias Hwenga, has faced growing unpopularity due to accusations of corruption, nepotism, and authoritarianism within the organization.

Emails seen by this publication reveal that volunteers had raised serious corruption allegations against the leadership prior to the national elections. These concerns appear to have been dismissed, with the current leadership reportedly resorting to questionable tactics to maintain their hold on power.

Sources within the ZRCS allege that the leadership bypassed the constitution, which mandates the selection of an election committee, by handpicking only six members. “They have only handpicked six members—Mrs. Babra Chimbodza, a former magistrate as chair, Lewis Banda, Edwin Musindo, Elias Hwenga, and Wellington Magaya. This is very wrong because the constitution requires an election committee with three members from the eight statutory regions,” one source said.

In Lower Gweru, the number of people did not meet the requirements for the formation of a branch, but provincial manager Marble Zinange reportedly ordered the branch to be created, violating Article 41.2(a) of the organization’s constitution. “The same happened in Marondera and Bindura. In Bindura, provincial manager Thulani Sibanda conducted an election with 17 people, three of whom were not members but employees of the society. These guys are desperate to retain power,” added the source.

In Gokwe North and South districts, elections were reportedly not conducted, with the manager instead focusing on a food program in Shurugwi, where a few people were coerced into holding an election. “Members of ZRCS were surprised to hear of the election from the community, which is against the constitution that states the election committee must distribute nomination forms at least four weeks before the relevant election,” the source explained.

In Gweru Urban, Secretary General Hwenga disqualified legitimate members on the grounds that they were tertiary students, while in Murehwa, the district election was omitted from the calendar altogether.

Disgruntled members have reportedly approached the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies cluster manager, John Roche, but claim their concerns have been ignored.

Pre-Sentencing Of Serial Killer Of Zimbabwean Sex Workers Postponed

By A Correspondent| The case against convicted serial killer Sifiso Mkhwanazi has been postponed until the end of the month after his lawyer reported being unwell.

Mkhwanazi made a brief appearance in the High Court at Palm Ridge on Thursday morning, where pre-sentencing proceedings were expected to continue.

“By agreement between the parties, your matter is then postponed back to the High Court in Gauteng Division, Johannesburg, to Wednesday, 28 August 2024 at 09:00, or shortly thereafter, where the matter shall be heard for pre-sentencing proceedings – which includes arguments in mitigation and aggravation of sentence,” Judge Cassim Moosa informed Mkhwanazi.

In March, the 21-year-old was convicted on more than 20 charges, including murder, rape, theft, and defeating the ends of justice. These charges stem from the horrifying discovery of the decomposed bodies of six sex workers at his father’s Johannesburg car repair workshop in October 2022.

Last week, social worker Xolile Budaza, who conducted an assessment of Mkhwanazi, testified that the court should not deviate from the mandatory life imprisonment sentence. Budaza’s report, based on five in-person consultations, detailed Mkhwanazi’s childhood, his reactions to the murders, and his subsequent conviction.

The report highlighted that Mkhwanazi had specifically targeted individuals from marginalized groups and had failed to successfully navigate critical psychological development stages crucial for personality formation. Additionally, Budaza noted that Mkhwanazi had not been forthcoming about the underlying causes of his serial crimes and showed no signs of remorse.

“Based on this analysis and the findings by the forensic psychiatrist, it is clear that the accused has not reached a level of genuine remorse. Although he expressed his feelings regarding his actions, his focus was primarily on himself and the difficulty of taking another person’s life. Therefore, deviation from the prescribed minimum sentence of life is not recommended, as the accused appears to have suppressed many unwanted experiences and emotions,” Budaza concluded.

Kombi Driver Almost Escape Severe Punishment, High Court Orders Resentencing

By A Correspondent| High Court Justice Faith Mushure has strongly criticized a magistrate’s handling of Munyaradzi Ronde’s reckless driving case.

Initially, Ronde, a kombi driver who drove against traffic and collided with two vehicles, received a lenient six-month suspended sentence.

Justice Mushure has overturned this decision, citing the need for a more appropriate sentence, and has remitted the case back to the trial court for resentencing.

The case, which has drawn significant public attention, originally saw the charge reduced from reckless to negligent driving, causing widespread concern.

Water Shortage Hits Hopley

Residents of Harare’s Hopley suburb are facing a severe water crisis, forcing them to resort to drawing water from unsafe sources due to the Harare City Council’s failure to provide potable water. The situation has become a serious health hazard, prompting residents to appeal for urgent intervention.

With no access to clean water, residents are forced to buy water from individuals claiming ownership of wells at the local cemetery. Those who cannot afford to pay are required to perform labor in exchange for a single bucket of water. Others walk 6 kilometers to fetch water from open wells at the graveyard, exposing themselves to harassment and health risks.

The water crisis has become a lucrative business for some residents, who sell water from open wells and boreholes. However, this has further exacerbated the situation, as those who cannot afford to buy water are left with no choice but to drink from contaminated sources.

The Harare City Council has acknowledged the issue, attributing the water shortage to the construction of the Mbudzi Interchange. They have promised to deploy water bowsers to the area and replace damaged pipes once the construction is complete.

Residents, however, remain concerned about the lack of access to clean water and the potential health risks associated with drinking from unsafe sources. They urge the city council to take immediate action to address the crisis and provide a sustainable solution to the water shortage.

Know Your Health

This is herpes zoster(painful rash that appears on one side of the body, e.g chest, back, face following a specific path- nerve). It’s caused by the varicella-zoster virus — the same virus that causes chickenpox. After you’ve had chickenpox, the virus stays in your body for the rest of your life. Years later, the virus may reactivate as herpes zoster.

Meaning anyone who’s had chickenpox may develop herpes zoster but it’s more common in people who have weakened immune systems for example HIV, those taking steroids.

The disease is not sexually transmitted or contagious but the virus that causes it can be spread to another person who hasn’t had chickenpox, and they could develop chickenpox.

Most cases it clear up within 3 to 5 weeks, but the pain around the area can stay for a long time after blisters have cleared. Doctors prescribe medications to assist you

High Court Intervenes in Case of Dangerous Driving Gone Unpunished

High Court Judge Rebukes Magistrate for Lenient Sentence in Reckless Driving Case

Harare, Zimbabwe — In a striking rebuke, High Court Justice Faith Mushure has criticized a magistrate’s handling of a case involving Munyaradzi Ronde, a kombi driver whose reckless driving in Harare’s city center could have resulted in serious consequences. The magistrate’s decision, which originally saw Ronde walk free after a wholly suspended six-month jail sentence, has now been overturned, and the case has been remitted back to the trial court for resentencing.

High court of Zim – pic

The case, which has sparked significant public interest, centers on an incident where Ronde, driving a commuter omnibus, recklessly drove the wrong way down a one-way street, colliding with two vehicles. Despite the severity of the offense, the trial magistrate downgraded the charge from reckless driving to negligent driving and issued a lenient sentence, prompting widespread concern and the eventual review by Justice Mushure.

Upon reviewing the case, Justice Mushure found serious flaws in the trial court’s decision-making process. She noted that the evidence clearly supported a conviction for reckless driving, a charge carrying more serious consequences. However, the magistrate inexplicably downgraded the charge without providing any explanation for this change, a move Justice Mushure described as both “arbitrary” and lacking in legal reasoning.

In her judgment, Justice Mushure stressed the importance of judicial transparency, emphasizing that courts must provide clear and adequate reasons for their decisions, particularly when dealing with competent verdicts. “The need to give sufficient reasons for a decision is a well-trodden path,” she remarked, underscoring that the failure to do so undermines the integrity of the judicial process.

As a result of these findings, Justice Mushure corrected the verdict, reinstating the more serious charge of reckless driving, and ordered that the case be sent back to the trial court for a new sentencing hearing. Additionally, she mandated that the magistrate involved in the original trial receive further training to prevent similar errors in the future. The magistrate’s name has not been disclosed.

This decision by Justice Mushure serves as a powerful reminder of the critical role that higher courts play in maintaining the standards of justice in Zimbabwe. It also highlights the need for ongoing judicial education to ensure that all legal professionals are equipped to make decisions that reflect the seriousness of the offenses before them.

Further updates on the resentencing and any developments in the case will be provided as they become available.

11-Year-Old Girl Becomes Sole Caregiver for Paralysed Father in Chimanimani

Mandima, Chimanimani – In a heartbreaking tale of resilience and responsibility, an 11-year-old girl from the remote village of Mandima, under Chief Mutambara, has emerged as the sole caregiver for her paralysed father after her mother abandoned the family six years ago.

Patience Mukute, a young girl forced to drop out of school, has taken on the role of nurse, caretaker, and breadwinner for her father, who was left paralysed and unable to speak after suffering a stroke. The tragic event occurred when Patience returned home from school one day, only to find her father lying helpless on the ground, saliva trickling from his mouth. Since then, the young girl has been solely responsible for his care, a task that has taken a significant toll on her own health and well-being.

Adding to her burden, Patience has suffered severe burns on her legs after an accident involving fire. Despite the constant pain and lack of medical attention, she continues to perform strenuous daily tasks such as fetching water and firewood, cooking, and bathing her father. The physical demands, coupled with poor nutrition and the absence of proper medical care, have left Patience in a dire state.

When reporters from The Manica Post visited their home recently, they witnessed the dire conditions under which the father and daughter live. Both are barely able to walk, with the father’s paralysis and Patience’s untreated burns compounding their struggles. Despite these overwhelming challenges, Patience remains determined, sharing how a visit to a local prophet has led to slight improvements in her father’s condition.

Patience’s story is a poignant reminder of the harsh realities faced by many in impoverished and remote areas. She dreams of returning to school and reclaiming her childhood, but her immediate concern is for basic necessities. She is appealing for donations of school fees, uniforms, shoes, clothing, toiletries, food, and medication for her father.

Her plea highlights the urgent need for community support to alleviate their suffering and provide the young girl with the opportunity to focus on her education and well-being. This young girl’s courage and determination in the face of such adversity is a powerful testament to the strength of the human spirit, and a call to action for those who can make a difference in her life.

Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story.

THE STRUGGLE FOR A NEW GREAT ZIMBABWE- WHERE WE ARE…

It has not been easy to stand for right, truth and the authentic alternative.

I can understand the struggle fatigue. It has been a long, rough and tough journey, #traveled fighting brutality and oppression. Struggles are never easy. It is a struggle- and it is not instant coffee or a walk in the park!

  1. Over time, a lot happens. Some fall by the wayside, some go offside yet very few remain onside and inside!!
  2. Some get genuinely tired, exhausted and or get too old, yet can’t let go.
  3. Some are disappointed, depressed and frustrated at the delay in quick results.

4.Some may resort to finger pointing and blame game as a post-election dissonance and frustration coping mechanism.

5.Some are pretenders, infiltrators and establishment collaborators who play for the other team. And they often shout and caricature the loudest.

  1. Some admire the opportunities offered by occupying office and being in government-as President, Minister, MPs, Councillors or public service.
  2. Some are content with benefits and privileges of power and position as opposition for life.
  3. Some are in it for survival and employment escaping poverty and never for service, change and leaving a legacy.
  4. Some seek short cuts decide that if we can’t beat them join them-so joining the gravy train becomes the easy answer!
  5. Some choose to disengage and pursue personal goals, interests and business as private citizens.
  6. Some are perennial skeptics and perpetual cynics and armchair critics. The naysayers and doomsayers. These are a mortal danger to a people struggle for a better world.
  7. Some fight to the bitter end!

These few are in it for the long haul, for service and for Zimbabwe and its people AND I am proud to belong to this category.

The Struggles the world over and since time immemorial, are always laced with multiple sorrows and discomforts but ultimately victory kicks in.
All this suffering is not in vain.

Mnangagwa Fails To Fix Hospitals

By A Correspondent

The Zimbabwean national soccer team is playing home matches abroad because local stadiums fail to meet CAF (Confederation of African Football) standards, specifically the requirement for bucket seats.

Similarly, clubs like Dynamos and Ngezi Platinum FC are also using facilities outside the country due to inadequate local infrastructure.

This issue raises broader concerns about the state of public amenities.

Tafadzwa Chikosha recently took to Facebook to ask: “What about the state of stadiums and the conditions in our hospitals?”

As Zimbabwe continues to face challenges in upgrading its sports facilities, this question underscores the need for government action to improve both recreational and essential public services.

Hope For Zimbabweans As UK Government Hints At Revising Care Worker Visa Restrictions

By James Gwati | The UK Labour government has signalled that it may revise immigration laws to attract foreign nationals, who constitute a significant portion of the care sector workforce.

This development comes amid growing concerns about the potential closure of care homes in Wales, driven by restrictive immigration policies introduced by the previous Conservative government.

Official figures indicate that the number of people applying for UK visas to work in the care sector plummeted by 80% in the first quarter of 2024.

This sharp decline is largely attributed to the immigration laws introduced in March by the Conservative administration under then-Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.

Sunak’s government had imposed a ban preventing foreign healthcare workers from bringing their families to the UK, drastically reducing the number of applications from overseas.

Before these restrictions, thousands of Zimbabweans, among others, were flocking to the UK for work in the care sector.

The new rules, however, have significantly altered this trend.

Care Forum Wales (CFW) has expressed alarm over the March rule changes, making it more difficult for foreign care workers to relocate to the UK with their families.

The forum warned that these restrictions are contributing to the closure of care homes across Wales, further exacerbating the already critical shortage of care workers.

Meryl Welsby, manager of Cartref Bryn yr Eglwys care home in Conwy County, highlighted the difficulty of recruiting local staff. “We’ve been trying to recruit locally for years, but no one applies for the jobs. No one wants to work weekends, nights, and it’s not attractive,” Welsby said.

The home, which relies heavily on overseas staff, currently employs carers from 10 different countries to look after its 30 residents.

Welsby criticized the government’s approach, stating, “It’s easy for the government to say, ‘Oh well, you can’t recruit from abroad to bring our numbers down,’ but the thing is, where are we going to recruit from? There’s nowhere else and nothing else we can do.”

CFW spokesperson and care home owner, Kim Ombler, echoed these concerns, warning that the care sector could face severe challenges if the situation does not improve.

“If we can’t get workers from abroad and also can’t get local workers to fill the gap, there’s a big worry that homes could close because of this,” Ombler said.

The UK government has defended its policy as part of a broader effort to reduce “historically high” immigration levels and to focus on “training more workers” within Britain.

However, the Labour government’s hint at revising these laws offers a glimmer of hope for Zimbabweans and other foreign nationals who play a crucial role in the UK’s care sector.

ZiG Shakes Mnangagwa Power Structures

By Business Reporter- A fierce power struggle is unfolding within the Zanu PF party over the performance of Zimbabwe’snew gold-backed currency, the ZiG, with some members demanding the resignation of Finance Minister Mthuli Ncube and his team.

Leading the charge is South African-based Zanu PF supporter Kudzai Mutisi, who has called for the dismissal of not only Ncube but also the Finance Ministry’s Permanent Secretary George Guvamatanga and Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ) Governor John Mushayavanhu.

Mutisi accuses them of sabotaging the ZiG.

Launched in April 2024, the ZiG was touted by the government as a “structured currency” backed by 2.5 tonnes of gold and other minerals, including diamonds. Despite these assurances, the ZiG has steadily lost value on the parallel market, largely due to persistent foreign currency shortages.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Mutisi accused the Treasury and Central Bank leaders of being “the biggest saboteurs of ZiG,” describing them as “lazy and indecisive.” Mutisi stated:

“The biggest saboteurs of ZiG are at the RBZ and Ministry of Finance—very lazy and indecisive folks. Five months after introducing ZiG, they have done NOTHING to make it the preferred currency. They FAILED to do the basics; it’s not enough to say it’s ‘gold-backed’—in fact, that’s UNNECESSARY. Simple things could give ZiG a huge boost.”

Mutisi outlined several steps he believes would strengthen the currency:

  1. Larger Denominations: Mutisi criticized the reluctance to introduce larger denominations, arguing that the collapse of the Zimbabwean dollar (ZWL) occurred without them. He pointed out that $100 USD notes circulate freely in Zimbabwe, filling the gap left by insufficient ZiG cash and thereby promoting the use of the US dollar instead. “Avail ENOUGH CASH!” he demanded.
  2. Tax Policies: He blasted Ncube’s decision to continue taxing electronic transactions, noting that the lack of sufficient ZiG cash in circulation drives people to use US dollars to avoid punitive taxes. Mutisi urged the removal of the IMTT tax and a reduction in bank charges to promote the ZiG.
  3. USD-Only Transactions: Mutisi expressed frustration that USD-only transactions have not been curbed, despite the introduction of the ZiG five months ago. He noted that the number of such transactions has actually increased.
  4. Tax Collection in ZiG: He criticized the lack of enforcement in collecting taxes in ZiG, arguing that companies have no incentive to accept or seek out the currency since the Treasury is more interested in collecting USD.

Mutisi called on President Mnangagwa to replace the current leadership at the RBZ and the Ministry of Finance with more competent individuals, stating:

“… you can’t have PhD holders who fail to do basic things. These are toxic people undermining the country for their own personal interests.”

He concluded by asserting that Ncube, Guvamatanga, and Mushayavanhu know the necessary steps to promote the ZiG but are unwilling to act if it jeopardizes their personal interests.

Government Confirms The Collapse Of ZiG

By Business Reporter- The government has conceded that the new gold-backed currency, the Zimbabwe Gold (ZiG), is encountering resistance in the market, raising concerns about its viability.

Since its introduction in April 2024, the ZiG has only captured a modest 30% share of domestic transactions, with the US dollar still dominating at 70%.

Finance Permanent Secretary George Guvamatanga acknowledged this on Wednesday during the Zimbabwe Economic Society and Friedrich-Ebert Stiftung (ZES/FES) mid-term budget breakfast meeting in Harare.

Guvamatanga defended the currency, stating, “To say that the ZiG is not circulating is not correct; the ZiG has been accepted in the market but is only circulating in electronic form. When we introduced the ZiG, the portion of transactions was 80-20, and now we are at 61-39 percent, so there has been a very marked increase in the use and acceptance of ZiG. We are seeing more transactions in ZiG.”

Despite Guvamatanga’s reassurances, the numbers tell a different story.

The initial phase saw an 80-20 split between the ZiG and other currencies, which has since shifted to 61-39, indicating that the ZiG is struggling to gain a foothold.

The government acknowledges that the currency’s physical form—small notes and coins—has yet to circulate widely, which could be contributing to its limited acceptance.

At the start of the year and for much of 2023, the US dollar dominated local transactions, accounting for approximately 80% due to the rapid depreciation of the Zimbabwean dollar.

While the introduction of the ZiG was intended to stabilize the economy, the ongoing shortage of foreign currency remains a significant hurdle.

The situation raises questions about the long-term sustainability of the ZiG, as it struggles to compete with the more trusted US dollar, leaving the government with the challenge of convincing a skeptical market to embrace its new currency.

What is the orthodox stance in boxing?

The orthodox stance is the most common and traditional stance used in boxing, particularly by right-handed fighters. You can place bets at 1xBet on boxers who use this stance too.

This stance provides a strong balance between offense and defense, allowing for 3 key things:

  • effective movement;
  • powerful punches;
  • and solid protection.

Let’s talk about some of the main aspects of this stance. In 1st place, we have foot positioning. At 1xBet it is possible to place all sorts of bets on everything that happens in boxing too.

In the orthodox stance, the left foot is positioned forward, pointing slightly inward, while the right foot is placed back and to the side, about shoulder-width apart. This stance creates a stable base, essential for maintaining balance during movement and while throwing punches. The rear heel is slightly off the ground, allowing for quick pivots and weight shifts.

Keeping the body and hand in position

In 2nd place, let’s talk about the body. It is angled to the right, with the left shoulder pointing towards the opponent. This positioning minimizes the target area exposed to the opponent, making it more challenging for them to land clean punches. The torso is slightly rotated to the right, which helps in generating power for punches. Go and 1xBet mobile download now in order to start wagering on boxers who use this stance by using your mobile devices.

In 3rd place we need to talk about hand positioning. In the orthodox stance, the left hand (lead hand) is held up near the chin, slightly extended forward to be ready for quick jabs. The right hand (rear hand) is positioned near the right cheek or jaw, providing protection and ready to deliver powerful crosses and hooks. The 1xBet mobile app can be downloaded now, and you can also use it on great boxers at any moment.

Punching and defending

In 4th place, let’s talk about punching. In the orthodox stance, the left hand is used primarily for 2 kinds of hits: jabs and hooks. At the same time, the right hand-delivers power punches, with 3 kinds being crosses, uppercuts, and overhand rights. You can play slots at www.1xbet.co.ke/slots while waiting for other boxers that use this stance.

The stance allows for a seamless transition between defense and offense, enabling fighters to do 3 things effectively, which are block, slip, or counterpunch.

Finally, in 5th place, let’s talk about defense. In this aspect, the orthodox stance provides several techniques to protect against incoming punches. These include blocking with the gloves and arms, slipping punches by moving the head, parrying punches with the hands, and rolling the shoulders to deflect blows. As always, the best boxers can always be wagered at 1xBet too.

In the ever-evolving landscape of Zimbabwean politics, President Emmerson Mnangagwa is strategically moving to solidify his grip on power and secure a third term.

This move comes as he keeps his deputy, Constantino Chiwenga, on the periphery of key decision-making processes amid a heightened succession battle within the ruling ZANU-PF party.

Mnangagwa’s focus on retaining power has become increasingly apparent as he leverages his position to marginalize Chiwenga, who is also a key figure in the party’s hierarchy.

The dynamic between the two leaders is shaped by Mnangagwa’s ambition for an extended tenure while Chiwenga, as the party’s vice president, eyes the presidency, constrained by the Constitution’s two-term limit for any president.

The political tension is underscored by Mnangagwa’s strategic decisions, which appear aimed at diminishing Chiwenga’s influence and keeping him away from critical roles that could bolster his succession prospects.

This dynamic is especially significant as Zimbabwe approaches a crucial period of electoral contests and party realignments.

Amid these political gimmicks, Chiwenga has made notable efforts to enhance Zimbabwe’s international economic profile.

A government source highlighted Chiwenga’s recent engagement at the Africa Conclave on India-Africa Partnership.

His presentation at the event successfully generated substantial interest among Indian investors, showcasing Zimbabwe’s investment potential across various economic sectors.

This positive reception underscores Chiwenga’s role in bolstering the country’s global economic relations, even as he navigates the internal political currents.

The unfolding political drama within ZANU-PF is set against a backdrop of increasing international attention, driven by Chiwenga’s compelling pitch to global business leaders.

As the succession battle heats up, the intricate balance of power between Mnangagwa and Chiwenga will undoubtedly shape the future trajectory of Zimbabwe’s leadership and its global economic engagements.

Western Suburbs Rugby Academy: Bridging Dreams and Defying Odds

……..

By Sports Reporter | In the heart of Bulawayo’s vibrant yet often overlooked Western Suburbs, a quiet revolution is taking place on the rugby field. Founded on a legacy of passion and dedication, the Western Suburbs Rugby Academy (WSRA) has been nurturing the next generation of Zimbabwean rugby talent, drawing from the underprivileged and marginalized communities of the city. Yet, despite its successes, the academy is facing immense challenges that threaten its very existence. Now, more than ever, WSRA is calling on corporate sponsors, philanthropists, and community leaders to rally behind its cause.
A Legacy of Passion
The origins of Western Suburbs Rugby date back to 1981, when Lou Corbi, a former Zimbabwe national rugby player, founded the first iteration of the club. His mission was clear: to bring rugby to Bulawayo’s high-density suburbs, giving children and youth a chance to experience the sport and the discipline it offers. His vision, supported by legendary figures like Francis Muhomba and George Mukorera, laid the groundwork for the academy’s development.
In 2009, the Western Suburbs Rugby Academy was formally established, with a mission to expand rugby’s reach in the city and provide a structured pathway for young athletes to pursue the sport. Despite the lack of resources, the academy has flourished, thanks to the dedication of its coaches and volunteers, all of whom work tirelessly to keep the dream alive.
The Struggles Beneath the Success
However, behind the scenes, the challenges have been daunting. Sponsorship is scarce, equipment is limited, and the cost of outfitting teams and covering travel expenses often falls on the shoulders of the academy’s volunteers. Coaches work for free, dedicating their time and expertise to ensure that these young athletes have the opportunity to train and compete.
“The biggest challenge has always been funding,” says Busani Ncube, CEO of WSRA. “We have the passion, the talent, and the commitment, but without proper sponsorship, we are constantly operating on the brink. Our equipment is outdated, and we often struggle to afford travel costs for competitions.”
In addition to financial struggles, the academy has faced resistance from some communities, where rugby is still seen as a rough and unfamiliar sport. Yet, the WSRA has pushed forward, determined to break down barriers and bring the sport to all, including girls, who are now an integral part of the academy’s programs.
Reaching for New Heights
Despite these hurdles, the academy has made incredible strides. Since upgrading to a full-time development hub in 2015, WSRA has produced a pipeline of talented players who have gone on to represent Zimbabwe at national and international levels. Names like Bornwel Gwinji, Kholwane Moyo, and Gardner Nechiringer have all emerged from WSRA’s ranks, proving that world-class talent can come from even the most disadvantaged backgrounds.
Yet, while these success stories are a testament to the academy’s effectiveness, the lack of resources continues to limit their potential. The academy’s training facilities are basic, and the lack of high-performance equipment hinders their ability to fully develop the skills of their athletes.
“We’ve shifted our focus to elite high performance, but our abilities are limited,” Ncube explains. “We need better equipment, better facilities, and more resources if we’re going to continue developing top-tier talent.”
A Call to Action
For WSRA, the mission is not just about developing rugby players—it’s about building futures. The academy provides a safe space for children to learn discipline, teamwork, and leadership. It’s a haven from the dangers of drugs and crime that plague many of Bulawayo’s high-density suburbs.
Parents and schools consistently report positive changes in the behavior and attitudes of the children involved in the academy. “The feedback we receive is overwhelmingly positive,” Ncube shares. “Parents tell us that their children are more disciplined, more respectful, and more focused, both on and off the field.”
But to continue this work, WSRA needs help. Corporate sponsors, businesses, and individuals are being urged to step forward and contribute to the academy’s growth and sustainability. Sponsorship is more than just a financial contribution—it’s an investment in the future of Zimbabwean rugby and in the lives of countless young people who may otherwise never have the chance to realize their potential.
The Way Forward
Looking ahead, WSRA has ambitious plans. Over the next 5 to 10 years, they aim to increase rugby participation across Bulawayo, expand their coaching venues, and elevate both male and female players to higher levels of competition. They envision a future where Bulawayo becomes a thriving hub of rugby talent, contributing to Zimbabwe’s success on the national and international stage.
But these dreams can only be realized with the right support. The academy is appealing for partnerships with local businesses, corporate sponsorships, and donations of equipment. Even small contributions can make a big difference in the lives of these young athletes.
“We are building more than just rugby players—we’re building future leaders, role models, and community figures,” says Ncube. “But we can’t do it alone. We need the support of the community, of businesses, of anyone who believes in the power of sport to transform lives.”
How You Can Help
To those interested in supporting the Western Suburbs Rugby Academy, the message is simple: your help is needed now more than ever. Whether through sponsorship, volunteering, or donations, your contribution can help ensure that this vital program continues to thrive.

Open Question to Emmerson Mnangagwa: When Will Your Government Address Stadium Issue?

Bus Runs Over A Passerby At Beitbridge Border Post

By A Correspondent| A Swiss Bus has crashed a man to death at Beitbridge Border Post this evening. The bus is said to have moved from where it was parked probably without the driver on the steering thereby running over the man.

The bus travelling from Bulawayo to Johannesburg had parked on the Zimbabwe side of the border to allow passengers to complete passport formalities when it suddenly rolled forward at around 7.30PM, a witness said.

The bus ran over and dragged a security guard who was manning the boom-gate with its rear wheels before coming to a stop after also colliding with a shade made of concrete.

Chamisa Hints At Return To Political Arena

By Political Reporter- The country’s most popular opposition politician, Nelson Chamisa, has hinted at his return to the political arena and said that he would fight until there is a democratic government.

He hinted at this while responding to Zanu PF agents attacking him and accusing him of not taking action.

Chamisa responded to these critics and, at the same time, reaffirmed his commitment to the struggle for democratic change in Zimbabwe.

Critics, including political activist Hopewell Chin’ono and academic Ibbo Mandaza, have made these claims but have not provided evidence to support their assertions that the former CCC leader is aligned with the ruling establishment.

Some have gone so far as to demand that Chamisa resign from politics to make way for a new opposition leader.

In an apparent rebuttal to his detractors, Chamisa stated on Wednesday that some former allies appear “fatigued,” whileothers among his critics are “pretenders, infiltrators, and collaborators who play for the other team.”

THE STRUGGLE FOR A NEW GREAT ZIMBABWE- WHERE WE ARE.

It has not been easy to stand for right, truth and the authentic alternative. I can understand the struggle fatigue. It has been a long, rough and tough journey, # travelled fighting brutality and oppression.

4. Some may resort to finger-pointing and blame games as a post-election dissonance and frustration coping mechanism.

5. Some are pretenders, infiltrators and establishment collaborators who play for the other team. And they often shout and caricature the loudest.

6. Some admire the opportunities offered by occupying office and being in government-as President, Minister, MPs, Councillors or public service.

7. Some are content with the benefits and privileges of power and position as opposition for life.

8. Some are in it for survival and employment escaping poverty and never for service, change and leaving a legacy.

9. Some seek shortcuts and decide that if we can’t beat them, join them joining the gravy train becomes the easy answer!

10. Some choose to disengage and pursue personal goals, interests and business as private citizens.

11. Some are perennial sceptics and perpetual cynics and armchair critics. The naysayers and doomsayers. These are a mortal danger to a people’s struggle for a better world.

12. Some fight to the bitter end! These few are in it for the long haul, for service and for Zimbabwe and its people AND I am proud to belong to this category.

The Struggles the world over and since time immemorial, are always laced with multiple sorrows and discomforts butultimately victory kicks in.

All this suffering is not in vain. We can’t go through all this pain not to receive our gain and victory in due time!!#NewDawn #Godisinit

Advocate Thabani Mpofu Dismisses Bribery Allegations Against Nelson Chamisa as a “Smear Campaign”

By A Correspondent|Advocate Thabani Mpofu, the lawyer representing opposition leader Nelson Chamisa, has vehemently denied allegations that Chamisa was bribed by ZANU-PF to compromise the opposition’s efforts. In a strongly-worded statement, Mpofu described the claims as a baseless and orchestrated smear campaign, concocted within the corridors of ZANU-PF’s headquarters, Jongwe House, aimed at consolidating the ruling party’s grip on power.

“These allegations do not originate from third-wayists—who, as we now know, are spineless and tactless critics—but rather serve the sole purpose of bolstering ZANU’s interests,” Mpofu stated. “Those who peddle this falsehood must either produce concrete evidence or be exposed as ZANU apologists, deserving of scrutiny and criticism. We can’t go on like this.”

The bribery accusations against Chamisa have gained traction in recent days, fueling speculation and debate within political circles. However, Mpofu’s comments reflect the opposition’s firm stance against what they describe as an attempt to undermine Chamisa’s leadership and the broader democratic movement in Zimbabwe.

“If anyone has any evidence on Chamisa, let them produce it or forever hold their peace,” Mpofu concluded, challenging those making the allegations to substantiate their claims or stop perpetuating what he termed a deliberate attempt to tarnish the image of the opposition leader.

The ongoing political tension in Zimbabwe continues to manifest in various forms, with accusations and counteraccusations dominating the discourse. As the nation approaches a critical juncture, the integrity and unity of the opposition remain under intense scrutiny, with this latest incident serving as a stark reminder of the challenges faced by those opposing the long-ruling ZANU-PF.

Government Speaks On Mpox Outbreak

THE Government says the country is on high alert to prevent the spread of Mpox formerly Monkey pox following a surge in global cases.

As the global Mpox outbreak continues to spread, over 16,000 cases and more than 500 deaths have been recorded in 75 countries.

Although Zimbabwe has not recorded any cases of Mpox, the Minister of Health and Child Care, Dr Douglas Mombeshora, says the government is not taking any chances, hence taking proactive measures to prevent the virus from entering its borders.

He spoke this Tuesday on the sidelines of the India-Africa Business Conclave in New Delhi, where Zimbabwe is seeking investments in various sectors which include health.

“Monkeypox is a threat to health systems in the region maybe in Africa as a whole. As you know about a week ago the Africa CDC declared Mpox a public health emergency with WHO declaring it a public health emergency.

“There are certain countries that have had Mpox for years. It has been endemic there like the DRC, but we have seen other countries which were not affected by Mpox for years having new cases. What we have been told is that there is a new strain which is a bit more virulent and this has not only affected countries in Africa, but some countries in Europe have also witnessed these new cases of Mpox.

“We as a country of Zimbabwe, of course, are part and parcel of the SADC region, Because movement is not restricted, we can end up seeing these cases escalating, but we are on high alert. We have alerted all our port health posts to be on the lookout, and, we are installing thermal scanners where you just walk through and the body temperature can be picked up and if one‘s temperature is up there is a holding room where they can be interrogated and examined.

“We have trained all our staff. We have kits to do tests for Mpox. We have done test runs to ensure that the kits are working and yes, we are on high alert and we are hoping that we will not have any cases of Mpox,” said Dr Mombeshora.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has declared the latest MPOX outbreak in Africa a “public health emergency of international concern,” the category used in the past for outbreaks of Ebola and COVID-19.

MPOX, formerly known as Monkey pox, is an infectious disease caused by a virus.

Flu-like symptoms including fever, chills and muscle aches are typically followed by a rash that starts as raised spots, which turn into blisters filled with fluid.

Cocaine In Ruwa

Ruwa Man Remanded in Custody for Cocaine Possession

Ruwa, Zimbabwe — A local man from Ruwa, Tafadzwa Mpofu, has been remanded in custody after being found in possession of six sachets of cocaine with a combined mass of 4 grams. The incident has sparked concern over the growing presence of illegal drugs in the area.

Mpofu was arrested in the early hours of Tuesday morning by detectives from the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) Drugs and Narcotics unit in Harare. Acting on a tip-off, detectives approached Mpofu at around 4:30 AM, conducted a body search, and discovered the six sachets of suspected cocaine hidden in his right trouser pocket.

After the discovery, Mpofu was immediately taken into custody and transported to the CID Drugs and Narcotics headquarters, where a field test confirmed that the substance was indeed cocaine. The street value of the seized drugs is estimated at ZWL$2,800.

Mpofu appeared in court later that day, where he pleaded guilty to the charge of unlawful possession of dangerous drugs. The court has since remanded him in custody, with the next hearing scheduled for September 4, when he will appear in a different court for plea recording and trial proceedings.

This incident underscores the ongoing challenges faced by law enforcement in combating drug-related crimes in Zimbabwe. Authorities have pledged to continue their efforts to curb the distribution and use of dangerous drugs in communities across the country.

The public is urged to report any suspicious activities related to drug trafficking or possession to the nearest police station as part of a collective effort to maintain safety and security.

Police Sacrifice Daily for Our Safety

By Dr. Masimba Mavaza | Lawyer Tinomudaishe Chinyoka recently questioned why there are no reported injuries among police officers during alleged shootouts with suspected armed robbers. These comments, however, show a lack of understanding of the dangers police officers face daily.

For example, in Bulawayo, a police officer, Constable Gibson Tafara Madzimure, 35, was tragically shot and killed by armed robbers in New Luveve suburb while on duty. He was shot in the head at the home of an alleged illegal foreign currency dealer, Last Mukomawashe, and succumbed to his injuries on arrival at Mpilo Central Hospital. Does Chinyoka remember this? Probably not. But the Madzimure family lost a son who died serving his country. Their loss is a painful reminder that the safety we enjoy is often secured by the blood of these brave officers.

Police officers are committed to making our communities safer by preventing and thoroughly investigating crime, supporting victims, and bringing offenders to justice. They work tirelessly to build stronger, more resilient communities and provide a modern police force that meets the needs of the public they serve.

Armed robbery is a serious crime that demands an appropriate response from the police. When someone questions why officers weren’t injured during a shootout, they overlook the daily risks officers face. Every day, police officers encounter situations that could quickly turn deadly, whether it’s a domestic violence call or a robbery. These routine encounters are fraught with danger, and the officer’s primary goal is to protect themselves and the public while apprehending criminals.

Instead of applauding the police for minimizing injuries during combat, questioning their survival is not only irresponsible but also demoralizing. The statistics speak for themselves: Zimbabwean law enforcement has seen an increase in line-of-duty deaths over the past decade, with the leading causes being firearms-related ambush attacks, traffic-related incidents, and exposure to diseases like COVID-19. These dangers take a significant toll, with studies showing that law enforcement officers have a higher suicide rate than any other profession, and many suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder.

High-profile ambush attacks capture public attention, but much of the danger police face comes from routine situations that can suddenly turn violent. Ambush attacks are nearly impossible to predict or prevent, but awareness, vigilance, and proper equipment can help police departments mitigate these risks. Police officers risk their lives every day to protect us, and many join the force seeking discipline, stability, and a chance to serve the community.

The police are essential for protecting the vulnerable, defending the marginalized, and maintaining order. Despite the low pay and high risk, they continue to serve with dedication. Some officers suffer from job-related injuries that affect their quality of life, yet they continue to do the best they can. They don’t need to be criticized for surviving; instead, they should be supported and honored for their service.

Every time a police officer goes on duty, they face unknown dangers. They put their lives on the line to ensure we live in a peaceful and protected society. Their presence deters crime and reassures the public. The police must stay alive to continue protecting our communities and to foster trust and confidence.

Cde Chinyoka’s anti-police sentiments are not only misguided but also harmful to the law-abiding citizens who rely on the police for safety. By ignoring the challenges police face, he overlooks the very real dangers they confront every day. Police officers are far more likely to be shot by a robber than to shoot a robber themselves.

Chinyoka’s comments are unfortunate, sad, and deeply disturbing. The work of the police is crucial to maintaining public safety. It isn’t just about dealing with minor crimes; it’s about ensuring that people feel safe in their homes and communities. Criticizing police for not being injured in the line of duty undermines public confidence in policing and does a disservice to those who protect us. If a robber dies in a shootout, it’s unfortunate, but the police have a right to defend themselves. Chamisa Hints At Massive Come-Back

Chamisa MP Jailed Over SADC Summit

By Political Reporter- The former opposition legislator, Prince Dubeko Sibanda, who was arrested in Beitbridge on the day of the SADC summit, has been remanded in custody.

He appeared in court on allegations of inciting violence during the just-ended 44th SADC Summit of Heads of State and Government.

He was remanded in custody until Friday for a bail application.

The court heard that during the period extending from August 1, 2024 to August 16, 2024, the accused posted in WhatsApp groups, and his X handle named Prince Dubeko Sibanda/@Dubeko Sibanda inciting members of CCC to engage in violent activities.
Sibanda posted some of the following words, “Unless the SADC creates a platform where the Heads of State will engage Zimbabweans on the SEOM report & other issues, we will create a platform to meet with them in the streets of Harare.
“No intimidation will stop us. Let’s shut down Harare in August. Let’s barricade the streets in Harare. Let’s burn tyres and use old cars”.
Some of the messages were captured as screenshots by witnesses and were submitted to the police.
The court heard that as a result of the incitement, High Glen Road was barricaded and tyres were burnt along the road at Mukonono river bridge, Marimba, thereby endangering the free movement of persons and traffic using that road on August 16, 2024 at around 4.30am.
On August 17, 2024, a team of detectives from CID Beitbridge saw the accused at Beitbridge Border Post and arrested him.

Residents Seek To Block Indoctrination Of Mayors

By A Correspondent| Some residents have asked the Ministry of Local Government and Public Works to cease and desist from holding a so-called basic orientation training for Mayors and Chairpersons of local authorities scheduled to run for two days in Harare, which critics label as an indoctrination exercise.

The Ministry of Local Government and Public Works had on 16 August 2024 wrote an invitation letter to all Mayors and Chairpersons of all local authorities across the country inviting them to attend a two-day basic orientation training to be facilitated by the Chitepo School of Ideology, which is a ruling ZANU PF political party affiliated institution,in Harare from Wednesday 21 August 2024 to 23 August 2024.

The Ministry of Local Government and Public Works had justified the so-called basic orientation training as necessary to expose Mayors and Chairpersons of local authorities to the ideals of national security and patriotism as espoused by the Chitepo School of Ideology.

This incensed Chitungwiza Residents Trust (CHITREST), which on Tuesday 20 August 2024 wrote a letter to the Ministry of Local Government and Public Works, seeking to confirm the authenticity of the letter and whether it had originated from the ministry.

In the letter written by Harrison Nkomo of Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights to the Ministry of Local Government and Public Works and the Chitepo School of Ideology, CHITREST demanded that the two institutions should cease and desist from conducting the so-called basic orientation training.

CHITREST protested that the planned so-called basic orientation training offends several provisions of the Constitution and amounts to a grave violation of constitutional rights to impartial and non-partisan administrative conduct and freedom of assembly and association.

The residents association said the contents of the invitation letter from Ministry of Local Government and Public Works to all Mayors and Chairpersons of local authorities were contrary to the spirit of the Constitution in several respects.

CHITREST argued that the Permanent Secretary as an employee of government cannot convene and fund a training or meeting on behalf of a political party as this is contrary to the principles of impartiality and non-partisanship expected of members of the Civil Service as espoused under section 200(3)(a)(b) of the Constitution.

The conduct of convening a meeting on behalf of a political party, CHITREST said, infringes on the right to non-partisan and impartial administrative conduct.

CHITREST said the so-called basic orientation training is a tool to further the political objectives of ZANU PF political party through the office established for civil service and employees of government, who according to provisions of the Constitution, should be impartial and be non-partisan in the discharge of their duties.

The residents association said demanding the presence of all Mayors and Chairpersons at the training offends the constitutional right to freedom of association and assembly guaranteed under section 58(2) of the Constitution.

CHITREST charged that since local authorities are currently constituted by leadership from different political parties, the contents of the invitation letter are tantamount to forcing members, especially of different political parties to attend an event that furthers the ideology of a single political party, which is the ruling ZANU PF, at the exclusion of others.

The residents association said it will weigh its options to commence legal processes against the Ministry of Local Government and Public Works and Chitepo School of Ideology to stop the two institutions from proceeding with the so-called basic orientation training.

New Warriors Coach To Start Work This Week

Recently-appointed Warriors coach Michael Nees is reportedly expected to arrive in Zimbabwe this week.

Nees is yet to report for due since his appointment was confirmed by ZIFA early this month. He signed a two-year-contract until June 2026.

The German gaffer was supposed to have arrived in the country last week but was delayed by immigration paperwork.

The permit has now been issued and the coach is now expected to arrive in Zimbabwe on Wednesday, the publication adds.

Nees’s first assignment with the Warriors will be on the 6th of September when Zimbabwe face Kenya in the 2025 AFCON Qualifiers.

Michael Ndiweni Finds New Home

Michael Ndiweni has finally found a new club after several trial stints with a number of lower English clubs.

Ndiweni has been looking for a new club after leaving Newcastle United Academy when his contract expired in June.

He spent time on trial at non-league clubs, including Darlington and Blyth Spartans. Both teams wanted him on board but he decided against it.

The Zimbabwean prospect also rejected an offer from Workington AFC after training with them.

The striker has now earned a deal at seventh tier side Ashington AFC.

The club plays in the Northern Premier League East Division

A statement by the club reads: “We are delighted to welcome Michael Ndiweni to the club

“The 20 year old striker joined the Newcastle academy in 2016, signing his first professional contract with the club in July 2022 which was later extended in the summer of 2023. He made his first team debut for Newcastle United on 25 November 2023, appearing as a second-half substitute in a 4-1 home win at St James’ Park in a Premier League tie against Chelsea.

“Michael will unfortunately not be eligible to play in tomorrow night’s Emirates FA Cup Preliminary Round replay, but will be eligible for selection in the Isuzu FA Trophy against Congleton Town on Saturday.”

Zivhu Predicts Mwonzora’s Ascendancy to Prime Minister

By A Correspondent

In a bold and surprising prediction, Killer Zivhu, a prominent Zanu PF official known for his outspoken nature, has claimed that Douglas Togarasei Mwonzora, the former leader of the MDC Alliance, is set to become Zimbabwe’s next Prime Minister. This declaration comes amid swirling controversies and accusations surrounding Mwonzora’s political career.

Speaking on Tuesday, Zivhu made a statement that has sparked significant discussion and debate within Zimbabwean political circles. He asserted, “Your next Prime Minister (Mwonzora), CCC yamedzwa zvabvarana, God isinit.”

This declaration is notable not only for its content but also for the context in which it was made.

Mwonzora, who has faced criticism from various quarters, including allegations of betraying the people’s struggle, remains a polarizing figure in Zimbabwean politics.

Critics argue that his shift from a once-prominent opposition leader to a more conciliatory stance has undermined his credibility and effectiveness as a leader.

Zivhu’s prediction could reflect a strategic or political maneuver rather than a straightforward forecast.

His remarks highlight ongoing tensions within Zimbabwean politics, where alliances and power dynamics are often fluid and unpredictable.

As the political landscape continues to evolve, the implications of Zivhu’s statement are yet to fully unfold.

Whether Mwonzora will indeed ascend to the role of Prime Minister, and what that would mean for Zimbabwe’s future, remains a subject of intense speculation and analysis.

Tshabangu Feasts On Auxillia Mnangagwa Heavy Luncheon Amid National Crisis

By A Correspondent | Controversial Citizens Coalition for Change interim Secretary General Senator Sengezo Tshabangu has come under scrutiny for attending a lavish luncheon at State House with Zimbabwe’s First Family, while the nation faces severe poverty and social unrest.

Tshabangu, who is often seen as a Zanu PF ally, defended his attendance in a post on X.

He stated:”Yesterday, we had a luncheon hosted by the @ZimFirstLady at State House.

Despite our differences, we are one people. Ultimately, we must love our country. Politics of hate have no place among us.”

The luncheon has sparked criticism as many Zimbabweans struggle with economic hardship, raising questions about the appropriateness of such opulence in times of widespread poverty.

Concern Over Judicial Independence Crisis

By A Correspondent| Human rights organizations and activists in Zimbabwe have expressed deep concern over what they described as a growing crisis of judicial independence in the country.

The recent remarks from prominent figures in civil society highlight a troubling trend of questionable court judgments and the detention of individuals without due cause, sparking fears of a judiciary compromised by political interference.

Blessing Vava, the Executive Director of the Crisis in Zimbabwe Coalition, voiced his dismay at the ongoing detentions of ordinary citizens, including fathers and mothers, who have committed no crimes but remain imprisoned. “It’s sad and unfortunate that these people are not supposed to be in detention. This gives answers to the disturbing trend where we have seen courts giving dubious judgments,” Vava said in a statement.

Vava’s comments reflect a broader sentiment that the ruling Zanu PF party has effectively captured the judiciary, eroding the independence of the courts. “It shows that the ruling Zanu PF has captured the courts and there is no longer judicial independence in the country,” he added, painting a grim picture of the state of the rule of law in Zimbabwe.

These concerns are echoed by Roselyn Hanzi, Executive Director of Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights (ZLHR), who warned that Zanu PF could find itself implicated in legal proceedings related to the arrest and mistreatment of activists. Hanzi emphasized that any attempts by the ruling party to dismiss these concerns could backfire, potentially leading to claims for monetary damages due to malicious prosecution, loss of income, pain and suffering, and other forms of torture endured by those unjustly detained.

“While he is saying it in a jovial mood, he should not cry foul if his party is cited as a party to legal proceedings to claim for various damages, such as for malicious prosecution, loss of income, pain and suffering, and being jointly and severally liable with State institutions and actors involved. Respect independence of courts and doctrine of separation of powers,” Hanzi stated.

The allegations come amid growing criticism of Zimbabwe’s judiciary, with many accusing it of being used as a tool by the ruling party to suppress dissent and silence opposition. The lack of judicial independence has been a long-standing issue in Zimbabwe, but recent developments suggest that the situation is deteriorating.

As the country approaches critical elections, the integrity of its judicial system is likely to be under intense scrutiny, both locally and internationally. The continued detention of innocent citizens, coupled with allegations of political interference in the judiciary, may further exacerbate tensions in a nation already grappling with political and economic challenges.

Human rights groups are calling for urgent reforms to restore the independence of the judiciary and ensure that the rights of all Zimbabweans are protected under the law. However, with Zanu PF’s grip on power remaining firm, the path to meaningful change appears fraught with obstacles.

This unfolding situation serves as a stark reminder of the importance of judicial independence in safeguarding democracy and the rule of law, and the dire consequences when these principles are undermined.

Chamisa Is Teaching Zimbabweans An Important Lesson

By Prof Stephen Rupange| Nelson Chamisa teaching selfish Zimbabweans an important lesson about collective action and sacrificing for national interest

Zimbabweans have suffered too long under the unbearable ZANU-PF yoke of oppression and abuse. The abuse manifests itself in neglect, human rights violations, abductions, unlawful arrests, lack of service delivery, repression and at times mass killings to silence the citizens and cling on to political power.

There is no doubt that raising your head against ZANU-PF has serious personal consequences. Everyone knows that ZANU-PF abducts, tortures and actually kills opponents without shame.

For that reason, many Zimbabweans are justifiably terrified to stand up against ZANU-PF misrule. Those who have done so, since time immemorial, have tales to tell.

However, there is one significant problem that stands out. There is too much fear and selfishness among Zimbabweans to the expense of national interest. They want someone else’s child to go out and fight for them to get a job; fight for them to remove ZANU-PF. Someone else should fight for you and your kids to live a better life. Good luck.

Zimbabweans should know that as long as they are selfish and want a Zim-Jesus to sacrifice for them and die for their freedom, they can forever kiss their freedom goodbye. No one is going to do that. Nelson was born of a mother like all of us. If your mother does not allow you to go out and fight because you will get killed, don’t expect Nelson’s mother to lose her son for you. Forget Zimbabweans.

Chamisa is our leader but never our savior alone. The era of demanding that he sacrifices for all of us while we are sitting at home or making money in our enterprises is over.

It is so important that he has stepped aside, albeit for a while. His stepping aside has exposed how selfish and useless we are as a nation. It’s clear for the world to see that Chamisa was walking alone and left to sacrifice himself with no tangible support from the masses.

This is not a joke. It is very serious. We have now been exposed for who we are – gullible and selfish cowards. All the blaming and shouting at Chamisa shows that we have many who have been contributing nothing but hiding behind the shadow of Chamisa. Come out now if you are better and do what you claim he was failing.

The man deserves respect for standing up when all of us are hiding. We are learning now how important he is but we never saw how we have been neglecting him ever since.

No leader can succeed in leading selfish people. The problems in Zimbabwe are known by all. I will make a few examples to show you how useless we have been to Nelson Chamisa from whom we demand everything including that which as a people we should also do and contribute

  1. Where is the citizen protest? Should Chamisa protest for us alone. Should he come to Gweru to lead protests here? The only people who protested when SADC came were from Gokwe. Yes, Gokwe of all places. Don’t tell me about soldiers and police on the streets. We are just selfish. We don’t want to sacrifice and put our bodies on the line. We want someone to die for our freedom.
  2. Chamisa can’t go to work like all young people of his age because he is leading the struggle. But he must still toil and use his personal money to organize and mobilize. Since ZANU-PF expropriated all the political parties funds, he has been running around without a budget. Did we ever think about that? Yes, some few supported but, in truth, how many of us contribute anything to the change we want to see? Do we think vanhu vanounganidzwa nemuridzo sembudzi here? Very selfish and useless people. Tichadya izvozvo hedu.
  3. When the election was stolen in broad daylight in 2018 and 2023, what did we do? We allowed a few people to face the brutality of ZANU-PF takavanda mudzimba dzedu only to start demanding action from Chamisa. What did I do and contribute to stop election theft? Inini ndiri kuverenga, don’t talk about others.
  4. When Tshabangu recalled MPs and took over the CCC what did we do? We said Chamisa should fight. How should Chamisa fight for the MPs we elected in our communities? What are we doing in Mkoba, in Bulawayo, in Harare to fight this except watching and complaining? We are so weak and so easy to abuse and unless we change our attitude we will be abused until the end of time. Our grandchildren will be abused even more because thats the inheritance we are leaving for them.
  5. Jameson Timba and others, including a one year old child, are languishing in jail for nothing. What are we doing about it? A one year old child in the filthy cells! It does not pain us at all as long it is not me hazvina kana basa. When it’s your child you will need others to fight with you right? Very selfish. Justice will never come unless we all defend it with everything we have. We say, Chamisa must get them out again? How?

My point Zimbabweans is, when we are serious about our nation; when we want collective action; when we are ready to serve and sacrifice; when we are ready to support Chamisa; when we all want a good country – we will come together, sit under a tree and then Chamisa will lead us. For now, we are not ready, and we have not yet suffered. When we have suffered, we will talk less and do more.

Let’s think as a nation and not as selfish individuals. ZANU-PF is institutionalized oppression. It needs collective action. As Morgan Tsvangirai said, change needs both the people and time to be ready. We are not ready. Our generation is weak, selfish and misguided – unfocused. But we will wake up one day. No savior is coming.

My advice to Chamisa is – if these people remain the same, if they want you to die for them; if they want you to do everything vakagara; if they don’t want to come out and fight – then please stay at home with your wife. They are not serious. You can not lead a country of selfish cowards and achieve anything. Wait for a new generation – time is on your side. If and when these ones are ready, they will call you.

Mutsvangwa Urges Citizens In Diaspora To Return Home

By A Correspondent

In a recent statement, Zanu PF spokesperson Chris Mutsvangwa reported a notable increase in the number of Zimbabweans returning from abroad, attributing this trend to the effective leadership of President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

Addressing the media in Harare on Monday, Mutsvangwa asserted that President Mnangagwa’s governance has fostered a sense of stability and optimism among both citizens and investors.

Mutsvangwa highlighted what he described as a transformative period under Mnangagwa’s leadership, which he believes has positively impacted business investment across the Southern African Development Community (SADC) region.

This newfound confidence, according to Mutsvangwa, is a driving factor behind the increasing repatriation of Zimbabweans from the diaspora.

“Now those in the diaspora are coming back home.

We want everyone to come back home,” Mutsvangwa stated, emphasizing a growing trend of returnees who are encouraged by the country’s perceived progress.

He added that the current sentiment reflects a broader national pride and satisfaction with Mnangagwa’s administration.

The spokesperson’s comments align with the government’s broader narrative of economic recovery and national rejuvenation under Mnangagwa’s leadership, suggesting that his policies are successfully reinvigorating both domestic and international confidence in Zimbabwe’s future.

The Cup That Is Tormenting Zanu PF

By A Correspondent

In a surprising twist in Zimbabwe’s political landscape, Nelson Chamisa’s “God Is In It” Cup has emerged as a potent symbol of defiance against the ruling Zanu PF party.

Despite being dismissed by Zanu PF hardliners as a “spent force,” Chamisa continues to wield considerable influence, shaking the political status quo with what some are calling a new emblem of resistance.

Chamisa, leader of the opposition party Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC), has introduced the cup as more than just a symbolic gesture.

Its significance extends beyond mere politics; it represents a rallying cry for change and a challenge to the dominance of the ruling party.

The cup has become a point of contention and anxiety within Zanu PF circles, where it is seen as a symbol of Chamisa’s enduring relevance and resilience.

A former Zanu PF senior official has openly expressed concern about the impact of Chamisa’s cup, drawing historical comparisons to the revered Ark of the Covenant and the Ngoma Lungundu, both of which symbolize immense power and authority in Zimbabwean history.

The official’s comment, “Komichi (Cup) yanetsa iyi! Could this be the new Areka (Ark) or Ngoma Lungundu?” underscores the cup’s growing symbolic weight and its role in heightening political tensions.

Chamisa’s persistent influence, despite the ruling party’s efforts to undermine him, highlights the shifting dynamics in Zimbabwean politics.

His ability to mobilize support and maintain a strong presence indicates that the political landscape is far from settled.

The cup, a physical manifestation of his political faith and resilience, continues to serve as a beacon for those advocating for change and challenging the status quo.

As the political battle intensifies, the “God Is In It” Cup has become more than just a personal symbol for Chamisa; it has transformed into a powerful tool of political symbolism and resistance, creating a significant headache for Zanu PF and further complicating Zimbabwe’s complex political arena.

Civil Servants Stranded As ZiG Collapses

By Business Reporter- Some big shops around the country are rejecting  ZiG (swipe), leaving many civil servants, who receive their salaries in local currency, stranded.

Masvingo has the largest number of such shops denying ZiG, with Nyaningwe Supermarket and Bhola Hypermarket being the most notorious.

This comes as members of the public are struggling to access ZiG notes which remain scarce, four months after the launch of the currency.

Last month, the state media reported that some businesses in Bulawayo had resorted to feigning network issues with their point-of-sale (POS) machines as a pretext to exclusively demand foreign currency transactions.

The report identified Greens Supermarket and Oceans, two retail outlets in Bulawayo, among those that were allegedly turning away shoppers attempting to pay electronically in the local currency, claiming their POS systems were not functional.

Mthokozisi Nkosi, the chairperson of the Consumer Protection Commission (CPC), said the Commission would take action against shops that were unlawfully rejecting the ZiG as a means of payment. Said Nkosi:

We understand technology fails at times. We equally understand that it is serviceable, hence no reason to continuously claim the system is out of order.

Let these businesses be warned that we cannot be bystanders when they flagrantly violate consumer laws.

The law is clear that we are in a multi-currency regime and consumers have a choice on which currency to use as they transact.

We are coming after these unscrupulous businesses. Our Bulawayo office is going to be descending on these rogue elements.

We strongly warn them to stop this practice forthwith.

Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ) Governor John Mushayavanhu recently said the ZiG now accounts for approximately 30% of all transactions in the economy, up from 20% at the time of its introduction in April 2024.

When the ZiG was first introduced on April 5, 2024, the central bank estimated that between 80 and 85% of all transactions in the economy were settled using US dollars, with the remaining balance in the former Zimbabwean dollar, which was replaced by the ZiG.

Zim Children Abused In Broad Daylight, Who’s Responsible?

By Dr. Masimba Mavaza and Marylyn Mavaza | This article serves as a serious alert regarding the exploitation of children forced to beg on the streets of Harare and possibly elsewhere in Zimbabwe. A disturbing video circulating on social media captures the shocking abuse of children by adults who are expected to protect them. In this video, children are seen being physically assaulted by adult women for failing to return with sufficient money. This is not only daylight robbery but also a grievous crime against vulnerable children. The question arises: where are the responsible ministries to address this problem?

Traditionally, mothers have been seen as the protectors of children, but this video shows a stark contradiction. In the footage, two boys, appearing to be between ten and twelve years old, are sent from one shopper to another, begging for money or food. The boys endure the sweltering heat and literally grab at shoppers for a coin. Later, they are seen taking the money they’ve collected to women sitting under a bridge. These women then proceed to beat the children, accusing them of not bringing back enough money, before sending them back out to beg again.

This situation paints a bleak picture for Zimbabwe’s future, as it fosters a generation of beggars right in the heart of the city. Speaking on the issue, the Bubi Constituency legislator, Hon. Simelisizwe Sibanda, who is also the Deputy Minister of Higher and Tertiary Education, commented: “This is a case of child abuse, and instead of filming it, the person should have reported it. When it’s between a child and a mother and not at school, it ceases to be solely a ministry issue.” He called on authorities to take strong action against the abuse of these children and promised to advocate for their protection. He acknowledged the complexity of the issue, noting that it overlaps multiple ministries, and lamented the decay of societal norms.

The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Women Affairs, Community, and Small and Medium Enterprise Development, Dr. Mavis Sibanda, was brought to tears after watching the video. “My tears are rolling; this is not right. I will see what can be done. Children must be protected,” she said.

Senator Monica Mutsvangwa, Minister of Women Affairs, Community, and Small and Medium Enterprise Development, also commented on the video, stating, “All types of abuse and neglect leave lasting scars. Some of these scars might be physical, but emotional scarring has long-lasting effects throughout life, damaging a child’s sense of self, their future relationships, and their ability to function at home, work, and school.” She emphasized the dire consequences of such abuse and promised to investigate the matter, stating, “Children must be protected by us.”

Street-connected children often come from families dealing with a range of challenges, including poverty, mental illness, domestic violence, child abuse, and addiction. While family crises push children onto the streets, other factors like the allure of independence, adventure, and the bright lights of the city also play a role. However, in this case, the children appear to be hostages of their own parents. The only entity that can rescue these children is the government.

In 2005, UNICEF estimated that there were approximately 100 million street-connected children worldwide, though this figure is only an estimate, as no precise data is collected by the UN or any other international body. Counting these children accurately is difficult because they often live in fear of the authorities and do not want to be found.

Charity leader Tekwani Gutu criticized the government, stating, “The government of Zimbabwe has failed to take the appropriate measures to promote the physical and psychological recovery and social reintegration of street children. Street children are victims of neglect, abuse, exploitation, and inhumane, degrading treatment or punishment.”

These children desperately need protection. The Police Spokesperson, visibly shocked after seeing the video, promised to engage law enforcement to address this tragic situation, stating that every human being should be horrified by such cruelty towards children.

Walter Magaya Caught In The Act Beating Up Young Women at Hotel

By A Correspondent | ZimEye | Harare, Zimbabwe — The fraud-convict Walter Magaya assaulted several young women at his hotel at the weekend. The violent attack has raised serious concerns about the safety and treatment of individuals under his influence.

The incident began after a group of women, who had been staying at Magaya’s hotel, decided to leave the premises. Their departure was blamed on a former hotel employee only identified as Davido, who had previously worked at the hotel but left due to unpaid salaries. Davido was accused a close relationship with these women.

Walter Magaya

Upon learning that the women had left, Magaya was informed by an unidentified individual. When the women returned to the hotel, Magaya subjected them to a brutal assault. Magaya deliberately made sure other women at the hotel witnessed the beatings, using the violence as a means of intimidation and control.

One of the victims, identified as Ivy, has sustained severe injuries, with significant swelling on her body. A ZimEye investigation reveals that Magaya confiscated the women’s cellphones to prevent them from seeking help or reporting the incident to the authorities.

The situation escalated further when men accused of coming to assist the women in leaving the hotel were detained by church security and taken to Waterfalls Police Station. Meanwhile, Magaya is allegedly attempting to frame Davido for the entire incident.

A woman named Miriam was also present during the incident, though her specific involvement remains unclear. Magaya called in others to witness the violence, warning them against leaving the hotel in the future, the ZimEye investigation reveals.

Efforts to obtain a comment from Walter Magaya were unsuccessful at the time of writing. The incident has sparked widespread outrage and concern about potential further abuses by Magaya.

Authorities are currently investigating the matter, and more details are expected to emerge as the investigation continues.

This is a developing story. More updates will be provided as they become available.

Activists Go into Hiding Amidst Suspected State Security Surveillance

By A Correspondent

Four activists have gone into hiding after suspected state security agents visited their location multiple times, allegedly seeking to arrest them.

The activists are accused of organizing a community meeting in Masvingo last week, where residents resolved to demonstrate and petition the Masvingo City Council against the continued use of the Runyararo West Dumpsite.

The activists claim they were simply facilitating a community discussion on health and environmental protection, focusing on the issues caused by the poorly managed dumpsite.

“We have been informed that the state security agency has been looking for us for the past two days,” they said.

“We never planned to demonstrate against anyone or any institution. Our work is centered around climate change and environmental protection, not political activism.”

The incident comes amidst reports of arrests of activists across the country in recent months, particularly during the SADC summit in Harare last week. Authorities had restricted community activities near and during the summit, leading to the arrests of political and civic society activists.

The four activists deny any link to political activism, emphasizing their focus on environmental protection.

Opposition Leader Rips Into Mwonzora For Sanitizing Mnangagwa Facade

United Zimbabwe Alliance (UZA) leader Elizabeth Valerio has publicly criticized opposition MDC-T president Douglas Mwonzora for sanitizing “the facade of a matured democracy” by attending the 44th Southern African Development Community (SADC) summit, where Zimbabwe’s President Emmerson Mnangagwa assumed the chairmanship of the regional bloc.

In a strongly-worded Twitter post, Valerio questioned Mwonzora’s presence at the summit, suggesting that his attendance served to “sanitize the facade of a matured democracy” in Zimbabwe, a notion she firmly rejects.

According to Valerio, the summit, which saw Mnangagwa taking on the chairmanship of SADC, is being overly celebrated despite its routine nature.

“Many are asking why I was not at the #SADC gathering,” Valerio wrote. “To be candid, my view is that opposition parties present at the summit were there to sanitize the facade of a matured democracy, yet we all know the reality. We must hold our national leaders to account. We expect them to deliver real progress for the people, not just celebrating ceremonial positions.”

Valerio highlighted that the chairmanship of SADC is a rotational position, and that Mnangagwa’s new role should not be viewed as an extraordinary achievement. Drawing a parallel to 2015, when the late President Robert Mugabe held the dual roles of African Union (AU) Chairman and SADC Chairman, Valerio noted that such positions are part of a routine cycle rather than a testament to exceptional leadership.

“It’s a fact that in 2015, the late President Robert #Mugabe assumed the roles of AU Chairman and SADC Chairman. Just as it was then, the current appointment to the SADC Chairmanship is simply a matter of rotation. It’s important to recognise that this is nothing more than routine! It’s not an extraordinary achievement, therefore, the excess celebration, and the national expenditures incurred are unnecessary,” she stated.

Valerio stressed that what truly matters is the impact of such roles on the people of Zimbabwe. She argued that the focus should be on delivering tangible improvements within the country, rather than celebrating titles. “If we are to expect anything positive from holding the SADC Chairmanship, it should first be reflected in tangible improvements within our borders. Sadly, reality is far from this. The majority of #Zimbabweans continue to suffer under economic hardship, and we have witnessed the continued violation of citizens’ rights,” Valerio added.

She also criticized the government’s failure to uphold SADC protocols and guidelines on governance, which she said remain “a distant promise for the ordinary Zimbabwean.” Valerio emphasized that these commitments should be implemented domestically before being projected onto the regional stage.

National Constitutional Assembly (NCA) leader Professor Lovemore Madhuku and self-styled Interim Secretary General of the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) Sengezo Tshabangu also attended the summit.

The Mirror of Leadership: A Critical Examination of Chamisa’s Critique

By Danmore Chimusoro| As I reflect on Chamisa’s recent criticism of SADC and President Mnangagwa, I am reminded of his own leadership shortcomings. Chamisa’s passion for hunting is well-documented, but his enthusiasm for addressing critical issues like checks and balances on government power is conspicuously lacking.

Chamisa’s leadership style is characterized by a lack of clear policies and vision for Zimbabwe’s future. Despite being the opposition leader, he has failed to articulate a comprehensive plan for addressing the country’s challenges. This lack of direction has left citizens uncertain about his ability to lead the nation forward.

Furthermore, Chamisa’s leadership has been marred by favoritism and nepotism. He has prioritized loyalists over qualified individuals, undermining the opposition’s credibility and effectiveness. This approach has created divisions within the opposition and society, rather than fostering unity and cooperation.

Chamisa’s statements have been inconsistent, and he has made contradictory remarks on key issues. This has eroded trust in his leadership and raised questions about his commitment to transparency and accountability.

Chamisa’s tendency to label those who confront him about his shortcomings as “Zanu PF surrogates” is a convenient deflection from his own failures. He formed the MDC Alliance, only to abandon it after the 2018 post-election violence in Harare, which claimed several lives. He then testified before the Motlanthe Commission of Inquiry, denying any responsibility for the unrest and labeling the protesters as “fools.”

Under his watch, more lives have been lost. Mbongeni Ncube was speared and killed during a clash between rival political groups while Chamisa was busy forming another political outfit, CCC. Tinashe Chitsunge was stoned while rallying people to vote for him, but after the elections, he went on to abandon CCC, citing infiltration from FAZ. Now, he is being purported to have formed another brigade in the name of Blue Movement, led by his blue-eyed boys, Ostallos Sibiza and others.

Chamisa’s leadership is marked by a lack of accountability, inconsistency, and a focus on personal gain rather than the nation’s progress. He must cease labeling others and take responsibility for his actions. Only then can he earn the trust of Zimbabweans and demonstrate a commitment to true leadership.

Moreover, Chamisa’s self-proclaimed divine mandate has repeatedly been called into question. His prophecies have often failed to materialize, and his claims of knowing God’s will have been met with skepticism.

Chamisa has also disparaged Zimbabwe’s liberation heroes, including spirit mediums like Mbuya Nehanda and Sekuru Kaguvi, citing his Christian beliefs as superior to traditional ways and roots of Madzimbabwe. This disregard for the nation’s heritage and history raises questions about his commitment to inclusive leadership.

Recently, his lieutenants, such as Ibbo Mandaza, have questioned his leadership style, realizing that supporting Chamisa is like racing a pregnant horse – a futile endeavor. It’s time for people to stop blindly following him, as he’s taking them for a ride.

Politics is not a game of popularity or blame-shifting but a demonstration of competence. It’s not just about uttering words without action. The late Morgan Tsvangirai, a true leader, led from the front, showing that a true leader should be prepared to make the ultimate sacrifice if necessary.

As we search for a new direction, may the spirit mediums of Zimbabwe rise up and guide us to another opposition leader with the eagle eye of vision and the fearless character of a lion. A leader who will prioritize the nation’s progress over personal gain, who will articulate a clear vision, and who will engage constructively with stakeholders.

Only then can we hope to transform Zimbabwe and the region. Only then can we expect a leader who will truly serve the people, rather than just serving themselves.

In conclusion, while Chamisa’s criticism of SADC and Mnangagwa may resonate with some, it is essential to examine his own leadership record and qualities. By doing so, we can better understand the challenges facing Zimbabwe and the region and work towards finding solutions that benefit all citizens.

According to Commissioner Nyathi, detectives from the CID Homicide unit in Bulawayo received a tip-off that the two suspects, who were wanted for a series of armed robberies, were hiding in a bushy area between Mpilo Central Hospital and Richmond. Armed Robbery Suspects Killed in Shoot-Out with Police

By A Correspondent | Bulawayo, 19th August 2024 – The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has confirmed the deaths of two armed robbery suspects, Aleck Moyo (37) and Bongani Tshuma (41), following a dramatic shoot-out in Bulawayo on the 18th of August, 2024.

According to a press statement released by the ZRP, the incident occurred when detectives from CID Homicide, Bulawayo, conducted a raid at a bushy area between Mpilo Hospital and Richmond. Acting on intelligence that the suspects were hiding in the area, police officers moved in to apprehend them. However, the suspects opened fire on the detectives, leading to a fierce exchange of gunfire.

The shoot-out resulted in the suspects sustaining gunshot wounds. They were immediately transported to the United Bulawayo Group of Hospitals, where they were pronounced dead upon admission. During the operation, law enforcement recovered a Canik pistol with four rounds and an Astra revolver with two rounds from the scene.

The deceased suspects were implicated in a series of five armed robbery cases dating back to March 2024. These include a robbery on the 7th of May 2024 in Phataliika Village, Nyamandlovu, and another on the 29th of July 2024 in old Nkulumane 12, Bulawayo, where vehicles and cellphones were stolen.

The ZRP has reiterated its commitment to eradicating armed robbery in the country, assuring the public that no effort will be spared in bringing criminals to justice. The recent operation is a testament to the force’s resolve in ensuring that law and order prevail in Zimbabwe.

Further details are expected as the investigation continues.

ZRP Senior Dies During Bedroom Stint With Girlfriend

By Dr. Masimba Mavaza | Chief Superintendent Francis Matsika (Retired) has passed away at the age of 57. According to reports from the police, the retired officer died shortly after engaging in sexual activity with his lover, identified as Blessing Zuva from Chitungwiza.

The police report states that Retired Chief Superintendent Matsika visited his partner for what appears to have been a romantic encounter. He reportedly arrived with a bag containing a pint of milk and 10 liters of cooking oil. According to Ms. Zuva, the deceased requested that she mix the milk with salt, claiming it would serve as an aphrodisiac.

According to the police memorandum, “On 19 August 2024, at around 10:30 AM, the deceased visited the informant’s house. They engaged in sexual intercourse twice, but after the second round, the deceased began to gasp for air. He then collapsed and died.”

In a panic, Ms. Zuva rushed to inform a nearby friend. Upon their return, they found Chief Superintendent Matsika unresponsive. A report was subsequently made to the ZRP Zengeza.

Dr. Herbert Kawadza from South Africa commented on the mixture of milk and salt, explaining that while it is generally harmless, it can cause adverse reactions in the body under certain conditions. He noted, “This combination can affect the skin, potentially leading to skin conditions. It can also cause obstructions in various bodily channels, leading to circulatory and heart issues. Individuals with poor digestion should avoid this mixture as it can cause indigestion.”

Adding to the discussion, Retired Captain Roy Mavaza explained the chemical reaction that occurs when salt is mixed with milk. “If salt mixes with milk, the sodium interferes with the curdling effect of the milk, creating a reaction with calcium ions. This reaction can have harmful effects on the body.”

Medical practitioner Mr. A. Midzi also weighed in, pointing out the antagonistic properties of milk and salt. “We typically consume milk with sugar rather than salt because of their opposing qualities. Using milk as a base for savory dishes might unknowingly harm our bodies. The effects may not be immediate but could manifest over time.”

He further explained the concept of emulsions, noting that when milk is mixed with oil (or salt), the liquids do not fully combine but rather form an emulsion—a temporary mixture that can separate over time.

Several doctors have commented that the mixture of milk and salt is unlikely to be fatal, suggesting that it is improbable that this mixture caused the death of Retired Chief Superintendent Matsika.

Milk and dairy products, known for their health benefits, have become increasingly popular, with their consumption and production rising over the past few decades. These products are often used to deliver bioactive food ingredients.

According to the Zengeza Police, the informant revealed that she had been in a relationship with the deceased since 2015, with their last meeting in June 2024. She stated that the deceased had contacted her on 18 August 2024, expressing that he missed her and promised to visit her on 19 August 2024.

Upon his arrival at around 10:30 AM, the deceased brought a plastic bag containing 10 liters of cooking oil and a pint of milk. He then instructed her to mix the milk with salt before their sexual encounter, citing erectile dysfunction as the reason.

When the deceased began struggling to breathe, the informant sought help from her friend, Evelyne Dziva. However, by the time they returned, Chief Superintendent Matsika had already passed away.

The matter is currently under investigation, with a post-mortem scheduled to determine the exact cause of death.

This is an ongoing story, and further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.

Is ZiG Mari Falling By The Wayside?

By A Correspondent

In a candid admission, the government has conceded that the new currency, the Zimbabwe Gold (ZiG), is struggling to achieve its intended goals. Despite initial optimism surrounding the ZiG as a remedy for economic instability and currency manipulation, recent developments indicate that the currency is falling short of expectations.

The government has made strides in its efforts to address foreign currency manipulation and stabilize the ZiG.

These efforts include regulatory measures and strategic interventions designed to bolster the currency’s credibility and usage.

However, officials have acknowledged that these measures alone are insufficient to tackle the complex issues facing the ZiG.

Experts and analysts have long pointed out that while the government’s intentions are commendable, a more holistic approach is required.

The root causes of the ZiG’s instability are multifaceted, encompassing not only manipulation but also broader economic and systemic challenges.

These include inflationary pressures, structural weaknesses in the economy, and a lack of confidence among both domestic and international investors.

To effectively stabilize the ZiG, experts suggest that the government needs to implement a comprehensive strategy.

This strategy should involve not just tighter controls on currency manipulation, but also economic reforms aimed at enhancing transparency, improving fiscal discipline, and fostering a more stable business environment. Strengthening institutional frameworks and building trust with stakeholders are also crucial elements of a long-term solution.

In conclusion, while the government’s actions to address currency manipulation and stabilize the ZiG are steps in the right direction, they must be part of a broader, more integrated approach.

Addressing the underlying economic issues will be key to ensuring that the ZiG can fulfill its role in stabilizing the economy and restoring confidence in Zimbabwe’s financial system.

ZAOGA Exposed For Executing Witchcraft Attacks On British Citizens

By A Correspondent | ZimEye | A Scottish newspaper has exposed the ZANU PF aligned pastor Ezekiel Guti’s church for carrying out witchcraft attacks on British citizens.

ZAOGA was singled out over its practice of subjecting church members to exorcisms it exempts the founders of their own wrongdoings such as paedophilia, and promoting the political abuses of Mr Emmerson Mnangagwa on citizens.

ZAOGA whose founder the late Ezekiel Guti is accused of impregnating his own daughter (the successor Joel’s mother), plus covering up the raping of children by his convicted brother Nelson, operates a spirituality that frightens followers by making them believe that they are less worthy than other humans.

The church teaches its late leader’s obsession with corpse remains which he claimed provide witchcraft powers so that a person lives to 100. (Video)

The paper fingers the institution over forcing members to pay large lump sums of money to obtain validation, and claiming that the leaders have power to do exorcise people.
