ZRP Blocks Richard Tsvangirai Football Tournament

By A Correspondent

Richard Tsvangirai, Member of Parliament for Norton Constituency, has sharply criticized the Norton Town Council for what he describes as widespread corruption.

Tsvangirai accused an official named Gutsa of obstructing his planned events by reneging on a promise regarding the use of Ngoni Stadium.

“Norton Town Council is failing to fulfill its mandate due to the corruption and incompetence of its officials,” Tsvangirai stated.

“After Gutsa assured me that I could use Ngoni Stadium on August 12, I received an email saying the ground was booked. This situation needs to be addressed immediately!”

Furthermore, Tsvangirai’s soccer tournament was canceled by the police, who cited insufficient security.

“It is unfortunate that our soccer and netball tournament, scheduled for August 12, 2024, has been cancelled. ZRR Norton has cited a lack of manpower as the reason, marking the second event we have had to cancel in less than two months,” Tsvangirai added.

ZimPF Condemns Zanu PF Barbarism

09 August 2024

PRESS STATEMENT
The Zimbabwe People First (ZimPF) condemns the tyrannical behavior of Zimbabwe
government, lead by President Emmerson Mnangagwa and we are asking him to
stop denying citizens their fundamental rights just to please SADC.
Our Prisons are full of Political Prisoners being denied bail on frivolous and
malicious charges. It is clear that the Unconstitutional appointment of Chief Justice
Malaba by President Mnangagwa, was made in order to undermine the
independence of the judiciary, instill fear and threaten citizen’s rights.
The targeting of civil society, arresting of political activist, torturing of innocent
citizens and severe restrictions on political activity have stifled fundamental
freedoms, while the likes of Mike Chimombe, Wicknell Chivayo and others, including
government leaders, are siphoning public resources for personal gains through
goat schemes.
As ZimPF we are concerned and unhappy that to silence the dissenting voices and to
stamp out possible demonstrations violence, torture, and abductions seem to be
the only options deployed. Zimbabwe is going through difficult political and socio-
economic conditions. Civil society actors fill in important gaps in supporting
communities enjoy basic rights through provision of humanitarian support and
empowering communities for civic engagement and participating in democratic
processes. Safeguarding the civic space is essential for Civil Society Organizations
(CSOs) to organize, participate and communicate without hindrance.

stop harassment of citizens, and we call for a restraint of torturing innocent

Stanbic Bank Zimbabwe Reaffirms Commitment To SME Growth At 7th SADC Industrialization Week

Harare, 07 August 2024 – Stanbic Bank Zimbabwe has reaffirmed its commitment to the growth of Small to Medium Enterprises (SMES) as the institution joined key stakeholders from the Southern African Development Community (SADC) during the organisation’s industrialisation week.

The industrialisation week, which ran from July 28 to 02 August, brought together industry leaders, policymakers, and stakeholders from across SADC to discuss and promote industrial growth and development within the region. It is one of the events held in the run up to the 44th Ordinary Summit of SADC Heads of State and Government, scheduled for 17 August.

Stanbic Bank Zimbabwe was a proud participant of this significant event, showcasing its commitment to driving economic growth and supporting small to medium enterprises (SMEs) in Zimbabwe.

The Standard Bank Group Subsidiary’s Head of Business and Commercial Banking, Patson Mahatchi, said the theme of the Summit – “Promoting innovation to unlock opportunities for sustained economic growth and development towards an industrialised SADC” – resonated with Stanbic Bank’s thrust to promote growth for Zimbabwe and Africa at large.

Mahatchi told delegates who attended the industrialisation week that Stanbic Bank was all too aware that SMEs are the engine that will drive Zimbabwe’s economy forward.

He explained that Stanbic Bank was playing a pivotal role in championing the growth and welfare of SMEs adding that its mission, “Zimbabwe is our home, we drive her growth,” is the cornerstone of their support for SMEs.

Mahatchi said this ambition is reflected in the tailor-made financial services and products the bank offers to small and medium-sized enterprises, enabling them to thrive and contribute to the country’s economic development.

“SMEs are vital to our economy. They create jobs, foster innovation, and drive economic growth. At Stanbic Bank Zimbabwe, we are dedicated to providing the necessary financial support and resources to help these enterprises succeed. Our mission is clear: Zimbabwe is our home, and we drive her growth,” said Mahatchi.

He said Stanbic Bank attaches significant importance to SMEs to such an extent that the institution has a full-fledged unit that attends strictly to SMEs and foster their growth and development through innovative and well thought out strategies.

Stanbic Bank’s dedication to supporting SMEs has not gone unnoticed. This year, Stanbic Bank Zimbabwe received the prestigious Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce (ZNCC) awards for its outstanding work in supporting small and medium-sized enterprises.

Last month, Stanbic Bank was named National Winner for supporting micro, small to medium enterprises in Zimbabwe by ZNCC, having won the regional award a few months earlier.

Stanbic Bank was recognised for coming up with innovative financial products and strategies for SMEs in 2023.

The bank was rewarded for implementing carefully structured measures that promote the formalisation of SMEs and financial inclusion, as well as for having far reaching and sustainable achievements and milestones that support SMEs development.

Mahatchi said these accolades validate the bank’s efforts and commitment to empowering local businesses and contributing to Zimbabwe’s economic progress.

“We are committed to driving Africa and indeed Zimbabwe’s growth through well thought out strategies which uplift the operations of SMEs and particularly take them to the next level,” said Mahatchi.

He said the 7th SADC Industrialization Week was a resounding success, offering valuable insights and fostering collaboration among SADC member countries.

Mahatchi said Stanbic Bank Zimbabwe’s participation underscored the bank’s pivotal role in driving industrial growth and supporting SMEs, reaffirming its commitment to the development and prosperity of Zimbabwe.

As part of its strategies aligned to the SMEs, Stanbic Bank set up an Incubator/ Innovation hub in Harare which empowers, nurtures entrepreneurship and innovativeness in SMEs. The incubator hub has programmes that exist to capacitate and upskill existing entrepreneurs and start-ups, through the model which is based on pillars that include Ideation, Incubation and Acceleration.

Stanbic Bank hosted financial fitness academy in Midlands, Harare and Mutare that offers financial literacy training to its SME clients.

The SADC Industrialization Week is a crucial platform designed to advance the industrialization agenda within member countries.

It focuses on fostering regional economic integration, promoting industrialization policies, and facilitating networking and partnerships among SADC countries. By bringing together various stakeholders, the event aims to create synergies that will accelerate industrial development, enhance competitiveness, and improve economic resilience across the region.

Industrialization is widely recognized as a key driver of development for SADC member states.

It leads to job creation, technological advancement, and the diversification of economies, reducing dependence on primary commodities. By focusing on industrial growth, SADC countries can achieve sustainable economic development, improve living standards, and reduce poverty.

2 RUTHS: Ruth Hwara Was Never In Zimbabwe, Another Ruth’s Comfortably in Britain | BREAKING

The Ruth Hwara GofundMe Scandal—Unveiling a Shocking Deception

By Investigative Reporter | ZimEye | In a jaw breaking revelation of the “Mai Titi-Makandiwa-cancer-healing magnitude,” an investigation by ZimEye has uncovered that the highly publicized GofundMe campaign for Ruth Hwara—a program that claimed to be raising funds for a life-saving operation in India—was based on a web of lies. The investigation reveals that the real Ruth Hwara, who was portrayed as gravely ill and in urgent need of surgery, has never set foot in Zimbabwe during this period. Instead, she is living comfortably in the United Kingdom, far removed from the dire situation described in the fundraising efforts.

For the past two months, the campaign has successfully raised more than USD 100,000 from sympathetic donors worldwide. The narrative told to the public was heart-wrenching: a young woman from Zimbabwe, suffering from a severe medical condition, desperately needed surgery in India. However, ZimEye’s detailed audit and investigation show that the person depicted in the campaign’s images is not Ruth Hwara, and the real Ruth is actually an England-based woman who orchestrated this elaborate scam alongside her brother, who resides in Baldivis, Perth, Australia.

The print out from the organiser account

A Web of Lies Unraveled

The first cracks in this deceptive story appeared when ZimEye began scrutinizing the statements made by the woman claiming to be Ruth Hwara’s mother. On Saturday morning, outside Avenues Clinic in Harare, where she claimed her daughter was hospitalized, this woman made several statements that would later prove contradictory and misleading. She asserted:

  1. Her daughter was not grounded due to financial issues.
  2. Ruth could not travel to India for the operation because of a swelling in her stomach that required draining.
  3. None of the funds raised had been misappropriated.
  4. Of the USD 45,000 (£37,000) raised, USD 20,000 had been withdrawn and was held by her nephew, Felix Machingambi, in a Zimbabwean bank account.

In a recorded interview with ZimEye, Ruth’s mother claimed, “My daughter is not stranded because of money. We are only waiting for her condition to stabilize so she can travel. The money is safe and being handled by trustworthy family members.”

However, as the day progressed, Ruth’s mother changed her story, raising immediate red flags. In a subsequent conversation, she denied that Felix had received any money, contradicting her earlier statements. This inconsistency prompted ZimEye to dig deeper, revealing a tangled web of deceit.

The Truth Comes to Light

On Saturday evening, Felix Machingambi, speaking in a live video discussion with several participants, including the socialite known as ‘King Solomon,’ vehemently denied any significant involvement in the GofundMe campaign. “I had nothing to do with the money,” Felix stated. “My only role was to create and distribute a flyer. I never received a single cent from the GofundMe, and I am not related to Ruth’s mother as she claimed.”

the Saturday morning interview

Felix went on to disclose a crucial conversation he had with Ruth’s mother, where she admitted to lying under pressure. “She told me she lied about giving me money because she was forced,” Felix said during the live discussion. “She even fabricated our relationship, claiming I was her sister’s son, which is not true.”

This revelation was supported by a recorded phone call between Felix and Ruth’s mother, in which she struggled to maintain her earlier fabrications. When asked by Felix about the money she supposedly gave him, she responded, “No, it is not true, I told you that some of the money is in the bank.” This contradictory statement only added to the growing doubts about the legitimacy of the entire fundraising campaign.

The Role of Nigel and the Misuse of Funds

Further complicating the situation, ZimEye discovered that Nigel, the man initially described as an “uncle” helping to manage the funds, is actually Ruth’s mother’s boyfriend. Nigel, who is well-known in Harare for his sudden acquisition of wealth and ownership of a successful car sales business, has become a focal point in the investigation.

King Solomon, who also participated in the live video discussion, expressed his concerns about the integrity of the campaign. “This is not adding up,” he said. “Unless there is money elsewhere, the figures don’t make sense. We need a full audit to determine what really happened.”

ZimEye’s investigation has revealed that while more than USD 200,000 was raised through the campaign, there are significant discrepancies in how the funds were handled. For instance, Ruth’s mother initially claimed that USD 70,000 was raised by one individual, King Solomon, and transferred in its entirety to her. However, there is no clear accounting for this money, and Ruth’s mother’s shifting stories only add to the suspicion.

Public Outrage and the Need for Accountability

The public reaction to these revelations has been one of outrage and betrayal. Many donors, who gave generously out of concern for Ruth’s supposed plight, are demanding answers and accountability. The entire situation underscores the potential for exploitation in online fundraising campaigns, where emotional appeals can easily overshadow the need for transparency and verification.

One donor, who wished to remain anonymous, expressed their dismay: “I donated because I believed I was helping to save a life. To find out that this might have all been a scam is heartbreaking. I feel cheated.”

As the investigation continues, ZimEye remains committed to uncovering the full extent of this deception. The Ruth Hwara GofundMe scandal is a stark reminder that, in the digital age, not everything is as it seems. The public is urged to exercise caution and demand accountability in all charitable endeavors.

ZimEye will continue to follow this story closely, ensuring that those responsible for this shocking betrayal of public trust are held to account. The truth must come out, and those who exploited the generosity of kind-hearted people must face the consequences of their actions.

Chamisa Offers Comfort to Struggling Citizens

By Tinashe Sambiri

Opposition leader Advocate Nelson Chamisa has reflected on his modest beginnings and his rise to political prominence in a recent statement.

On Saturday, Chamisa shared his personal journey, emphasizing his belief in divine intervention and the potential for greatness emerging from humble origins.

He said:

“A BOY FROM GUTU…

For those who have never witnessed my upbringing, it might be hard to grasp when I say #Godisinit. My life is a testament to what God can achieve through ordinary people and for His own name and glory.

Throughout history, God has used ordinary and often overlooked individuals to accomplish remarkable feats—consider the stories of Moses, Daniel, Hannah, Ruth, Rahab the prostitute, David the shepherd, Joseph, and Mary. Even Jesus Christ was born in a manger, not in a grand hospital. Similarly, in Zimbabwe, God is still at work.

Great things are yet to come, for #Godisinit.”

DA Home Affairs Minister Fastracks ZEPs Processing

South Africa- The Democratic Alliance Home Affairs Minister, Leon Schreiber, has set up a new technical team that would fast-track the work permit application process for Zimbabwe Exemption Permit (ZEP) holders.

About 178,000 ZEP holders who are authorized to live and work in South Africa face a looming deadline as their permits expire by 2025.

In response, both Zimbabweans and their employers have been actively applying for regular work permits.
The push for a more streamlined process began in 2022 when Aaron Motsoaledi, the then Minister of Home Affairs, introduced a waiver allowing ZEP holders to apply for mainstream work visas without needing to secure certifications from the Department of Labour and the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA). This initiative was aimed at facilitating a smoother transition from the ZEP scheme.
However, Schreiber noted an issue where the waiver for the SAQA certificate was mistakenly omitted from the notifications sent to ZEP holders. “This defeated the purpose of the waiver, as it created a bottleneck with home affairs officials unsure of how to process the applications. A legal opinion further confirmed that this oversight needed to be corrected through a technical amendment issued via a circular,” he explained.
The necessary amendment was officially published this Wednesday. Schreiber expressed optimism about the adjustment: “Thanks to this correction, we hope to speed up the process of migrating away from the ZEP towards mainstream work visas for applicants who contribute to the economy and qualify in terms of the law. It should be noted that the waiver only enables ZEP holders to submit applications more speedily and does not influence the subsequent outcome of any application. All relevant criteria must still be met for a specific application to be successful.”
Moreover, Schreiber highlighted the substantial backlog of visa applications, which stood at 306,000 at the end of May. To address this, the department’s “backlog team” is now working in two daily shifts to mitigate the delays.
Concluding, Schreiber emphasized that the technical amendment is part of a broader effort by the department to eliminate regulatory bottlenecks and clear existing backlogs.

SA Health Minister Attacks Mnangagwa

South Africa- Health Minister Aaron Motsoaledi has raised concerns about the Zimbabwean administration sending patients without paying for the services.

Motsoaledi made these comments during the ANC NEC Lekgotla in Benoni last week.

The Health Minister suggested that countries like Zimbabwe should emulate the approach taken by Eswatini, which King Mswati III rules.

Eswatini has ensured that its citizens pay for medical care when seeking treatment in South Africa. He said:

Eswatini has a medical aid not like ours. Because they are a tiny country, when one of their hospitals cannot treat you, they send you to South Africa via that medical aid and the medical aid pays for you. That means the country pays.

Motsoaledi revealed that South Africa had previously advised the Eswatini government that sending patients to private hospitals in South Africa, which charge very high fees, would collapse Eswatini’s medical aid scheme.

As a result, the two countries reached an arrangement whereby Eswatini nationals covered by the medical aid scheme are instead treated at academic hospitals in South Africa, which charge lower rates than private facilities.

Motsoaledi stated that this collaborative arrangement between Eswatini and South Africa is still in place and working well for both nations.

While initially avoiding directly naming Zimbabwe, Motsoaledi went on to strongly criticize the Zimbabwean government under President Emmerson Mnangagwa and the ruling ZANU PF party.

Motsoaledi took issue with Zimbabwe sending its citizens to South Africa for free medical treatment, stating that this practice is unfair to South Africa.

Instead, the Health Minister suggested that Zimbabwe should request technical assistance from South Africa to help strengthen its healthcare system, rather than simply “throwing” its patients across the border.  He said:

Other neighbours don’t do that. They just close their eyes and let people cross the border [into South Africa]… It’s unfair. And I want to say this publicly even though [it’s] sensitive.

When Phophi Ramathuba was being attacked by all and sundry, during that period when she was being attacked, she received a letter from a patient sent to South Africa by a GP in Zimbabwe. “The lady has got cancer, stage 4 already… please give that lady a pint of blood.”

In other words, one country asking another country… I will tell you why that is abhorrent to me. Blood is not manufactured.

We get it from the population. There are human beings in Zimbabwe and they have blood, lots of it, for that matter.

All they need to do if they don’t have the technology of taking that blood is to come to South Africa [and say], “Can you help us with people who are going to get people to donate blood in our country” instead of closing their eyes and throw their people over the border. It’s unfair.

Part of the reason is that Heads of State on this continent, and it is the only continent, when they are sick they go to other continents and leave their nationals alone. We have asked that that has to stop.

Ramathuba is the Premier of Limpopo Province and a former Limpopo Member of the Executive Council (MEC of Health).

She stirred controversy in August 2022 when, as MEC, she berated a Zimbabwean female patient seeking surgery at Bela-Bela, a public hospital in South Africa’s Limpopo Province.

She was filmed telling the Zimbabwean woman that foreigners were overburdening South Africa’s health sector.

The remarks attracted varying responses from people of all walks of life with fellow medical practitioners saying Ramathuba had violated the profession’s ethics.

The Zimbabwean Embassy in Pretoria expressed “shock and disbelief” over the video and conveyed its concerns through the Department of International Relations and Cooperation.

South African President, Cyril Ramaphosa said that Ramathuba could have raised the issue of immigrants using South Africa’s healthcare services “in another way”.

While answering parliamentary questions, Ramaphosa said Ramathuba had “raised an important issue” of how “service delivery is affected by migration”.

Four Men Saved From The Hangman’s Noose

The High Court of Zimbabwe on Thursday ordered the immediate release of four men, including three police officers, who had been on death row for their involvement in the fatal shooting of Edson Manhembe during a botched robbery at Gletwin Farm, Chishawasha Highlands, on July 2, 2010.

The decision followed a Supreme Court ruling that mandated their resentencing.

The four men—Emmanuel Dolosi, Kudzai Madziro, Leeroy Muteyera, and Ronald Roorai Sambo—were initially sentenced to death but were subsequently resentenced to 20 years in prison each.

In making the ruling, the High Court considered the time the men had already served on death row, as well as the periods they spent in pre-trial detention and post-conviction.

The case, which began with the arrest of the four men in 2010, was marked by a prolonged trial that commenced on September 3, 2012, and concluded in 2014 after multiple delays. These delays were attributed to the reassignment of prosecutors, including the original prosecutor, Mr. Chimbari, who was sent to Sudan, as well as challenges in obtaining necessary case records.

The incident that led to their conviction occurred on July 2, 2010, when the four men were found to have unlawfully caused the death of Edson Manhembe, who was shot three times—once in the chest, cheek, and stomach—during a failed armed robbery at Gletwin Farm.

Despite all four pleading not guilty, the court determined that their actions constituted murder committed in the course of an armed robbery.

Throughout the trial, the accused denied their involvement. Dolosi claimed he was coerced into providing misleading indications; Madziro argued that he was unaware of the robbery plan and was threatened by other participants; Muteyera asserted that he was investigating his co-accused rather than participating in the crime; and Sambo claimed he was forced to remain at the scene under duress.

However, the court found compelling evidence against them, including testimonies from security guards at the farm, forensic ballistic reports, and eyewitness accounts. Despite the accused’s claims of coercion, the court ruled that the evidence demonstrated their voluntary participation in the crime.

Justice Mwayera, who presided over the trial, initially emphasized the aggravated nature of the murder, noting that it was committed with a firearm during an attempted robbery by police officers who had betrayed their duty. The severity of the crime initially warranted the death penalty under Zimbabwean law. However, following the Supreme Court’s order for resentencing and the time already served by the men, the High Court opted to reduce their sentences, leading to their release on Thursday.

Ruth Hwara’s Mother Changes Own Statements On Donated Money Whereabouts

By Investigative Reporter | ZimEye | The scandal over the Gofundme campaign for a kidney patient, the university graduate, Ruth Hwara, has seen statements being changed over who has the more than USD45,000 that has been raised in the last two months.

On Saturday morning, Ruth’s mother briefly spoke to ZimEye while outside Avenues Clinic where her daughter is hospitalised and she made a few statements among them, that,

1. Her daughter is not grounded at all due to money issues,

2. Ruth cannot fly to India for her operation because of a swelling at the stomach which requires draining.

3. None of the money that was raised has been misappropriated.

4. Of the USD45000 (£37,000) raised in a Gofundme account, USD20,000 has been withdrawn and is with her sister’s son, by name Felix Machingambi in his Zimbabwe account. [Watch video below]

Ruth Hwara mother interview

5. The only two people responsible for the money are Nigel Makono, and Felix Machingambi(her sister’s son)

Currently reports suggest more than USD200,000 has been raised of which USD70,000 was raised by one King Solomon and transferred whole to the mother.

But speaking later on Saturday evening, Ruth’s mother changed statements after it was revealed she has no relationship whatsoever, saying this time that Felix did not receive any penny.

Felix speaking on a live video discussion with several callers who include the sociallite, ‘King Solomon’ at around 8pm narrated as follows:

Ruth’s mother claimed she gave the money to Felix…However, I recorded her admitting, “My son, Yaya, was forcing me to say this. You did not give me the money.” I asked her, “Mama, with all the money you have given me, have I ever misappropriated any?” She replied, “No, there is not a single cent that you have ever misappropriated.”

I then inquired about the doctor in charge so that they could be confronted about allowing Ruth to fly in her condition. The video cut off at that point, and I asked for Mama’s permission to post it. Afterward, my brother advised me to leave, withdraw, and get on the highway to cool off. It was a painful experience. We stopped three times, and you could tell from people’s stares and whispers that they were talking about us.

I then said the truth would set me free, and if there’s anything I’m afraid of, it’s damaging my reputation. I built my reputation from scratch, and I’ve realized that some people take pleasure in seeing me in a bad state, even wishing for my downfall. While I can’t stop them, they can’t stop God’s plan. I’m just doing God’s work. If I’ve made mistakes, I’m sorry, but to my fellow Zimbabweans, I’m now afraid to help people. If someone needs help, I’m sorry to say, but I’m now hesitant to assist. I have my own life to live.

For those listening, go to TikTok, where you’ll find all my videos. You’ll see the phone numbers where I advertise. I have nothing to do with anyone else’s money. I work from Sunday to Sunday, January to January, without any off days. I can’t speak about other people’s money because I have no involvement in it. If you see me out there, the little money I have is enough for me. I don’t have any hints to give you. I record even the smallest amounts I’m given, as well as the larger ones, and I post them. Regarding Ruth’s situation, when I heard money being discussed in the group, I recorded a thank you message to give feedback. That’s all I know. But when ever I record, I include the number as someone who is directly looking after money given by people.

King Solomon then swiftly requested, “Felix, let me ask you, when this group was being run, did you hear about problems being discussed there?”

Felix replied, “There was a lot of talk. There were also people sulking and pulling back. I am not close to the family.”

King Solomon observed, “I noticed that you and Yaya are close to the family.”

Felix clarified, “Let me explain, I am not.”

King Solomon continued, “I need to ask you, Felix, when was the GoFundMe account created? Did you have anything to do with it?”

Felix responded, “I did not receive any money. My only involvement was in creating a flyer and distributing it. I did not have anything to do with the GoFundMe campaign. I don’t have any relationship with these people. What I do is create a bridge, but I don’t have a personal relationship with them.”

Tom Jones added, “In the future, I really appreciate what you guys do. But as you help people and saw the GoFundMe program being run, did you see who created the campaign?”

Felix answered, “The suspects are Saru and another person called Ndeyami.”

King Solomon said, “I have never met Ruth’s mother. I would like to meet her.”

Felix offered, “Come through and see her. I can connect you tomorrow. I will send you the location and secure parking for you.”

Felix then asked, “Why did Ruth’s mother lie about the person who assisted her?” I asked her, “Where is the money?” She replied, “I’m sorry, my son, I did it because I didn’t want to get robbed.” I asked her again, and she said the money is in the bank.

Ruth’s mother lied about being related to Felix, claiming he was her sister’s son, which is not true. At the end of the day, these were public funds, and they need to be audited.

Live telephone call to Ruth’s mother:

Hello, hello, hello, hello, hello, mama. How is Ruth now?

Mother: Ruth is ok.

Felix: There is that time that I recorded you, mama. And I asked you about the money. That point when I asked you about the money. Now people are asking me saying why did mama lie like that saying she gave you money.

Mother: You did not receive any money

Felo: So where is the other money

Mother:It is in the bank

Felix: So what about the other money that isn’t in the uk.

Mother: When I spoke to you.I spoke the truth.

Felix: How come when I recorded you, you said that some of the money came some of it remained.

Mother: I did not say that.

Felix m: OK, mama, I won’t like to speak with you.No one is forcing you.How are you today.

Mother: I am well

Felix: Is it true that you gave me gofund me money?

Mother: No, it is not true, I told you that some of the money is in the bank.

Felix: So for this money for it to spread like that, it was claimed by you that you gave me money.

Mother: When that happened I was being forced. I lied to her.

Felix: You also lied that you are my relative.

PHONE CUT..

Felix: How much did we raise?

Mother: There is 37,000.

Felix: It is the Gofundme account?

Mother: Yes.

Felix: Who assisted us to do the gofundme?

Mother: They are Ruth’s friends.

Felix: Who are they?

Mother: There is Nigel, and there is Gamu.

Felix: Nigel who is Sekuru (uncle) or Nigel (friend)?

Mother: Nigel Sekuru (uncle).

Felix: So how much have we used so far?

Mother: We have used USD5,000.

Felix: So how much is left?

Mother: 32,000.

Felix: Alright.

Mother:

Felix: Alright mama, you can now sleep. Vut mama, I am bej g accused of stealing money.

Mother: not true.

Felix: King Solomon is also being accused.

Mother: Not true.

Felix: Alright you may go to rest mama.

-Phone cut.-

King Solomon: This is not connecting or making sense.

Unless there is money elsewhere, The figures are not adding up.

ZimEye has established that the so called Nigel who is an uncle, and who is said to be a friend of Ruth, is in fact the mother’s boyfriend, renowned in the local Harare community for amassing a sudden gush of wealth with which he has established a big car sale business.

Political observers are scrutinizing the timing of the Zimbabwean government’s recent allocation of 450 vehicles to the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP).

This move has sparked concerns that it might be aimed at suppressing dissent ahead of the SADC Summit later this month.

The Zanu PF regime appears to be demonstrating a show of force to deter potential protests scheduled for August 16.

“On Friday, Vice President KCD Mohadi oversaw the handover of 450 operational vehicles to the ZRP at the Mkushi Police Training Academy in Harare,” reported state media.

Shocking Corruption Uncovered in Carrick Creagh Farm Development – Over $1.2 Billion in State Land Lost

Harare, Zimbabwe – A bombshell report released by a government special audit task force has uncovered staggering corruption and mismanagement in the development of Carrick Creagh Farm, a high-profile residential area in Borrowdale, Harare. The investigation reveals a massive scandal involving state land officials and Arosume Property Development, with losses to the state exceeding USD 1.2 billion.

Key Findings

  1. State Land Losses Over $1.2 Billion: The audit estimates that the value of state land lost due to corrupt practices and mismanagement by Arosume Property Development, in collusion with officials from the Ministry of Local Government, Public Works, and National Housing (MLGPW), is over USD 1.2 billion at current market values.
  2. Exorbitant Development Fees: Beneficiaries of the Carrick Creagh housing project have been charged development fees ranging from USD 54,000 to USD 439,000, which they contest as excessively high and lacking transparency. The audit found that Arosume could not provide a clear breakdown of these costs, further raising suspicions of financial impropriety.
  3. Illegal Land Allocations and Double Dipping: Arosume was allocated 80 stands by the MLGPW, far exceeding the 50 stands initially agreed upon in the Tripartite Agreement. This additional allocation, made without government approval, allowed Arosume to resell repossessed stands from defaulting beneficiaries, profiting twice from the same land—a practice identified as illegal “double dipping.”
  4. Inflated Land Development Costs: Arosume imposed overall land development costs ranging from USD 500,000 to USD 1.5 million, figures that the audit describes as “unheard of” given the developer’s failure to complete key infrastructure projects. Thirteen years after the project’s inception, roads, water reticulation, and other essential services remain unfinished.
  5. Corruption and Abuse of Office: The audit also exposes serious corruption within the Stateland Office, with officials living lavish lifestyles disproportionate to their known incomes. Some officials were found to have assumed debt collection roles on behalf of Arosume, raising concerns about kickbacks and abuse of public office.
  6. Conflict of Interest in Legal Proceedings: In a particularly egregious case, a lawyer, Munyaradzi Bwanya, facilitated the illegal repossession of a resident’s land and transferred it to his wife, while representing Arosume in court. This blatant conflict of interest underscores the deep-seated corruption linked to the development.

The audit calls for immediate legal action to recover the lost state assets and for a thorough investigation into the implicated individuals and entities:

  • Demand for Payment: The MLGPW is urged to demand payment of the intrinsic land value for the 80 stands from Arosume, and to pursue legal proceedings if necessary.
  • Lifestyle Audits: A lifestyle audit is recommended for Stateland Office administrators, with disciplinary and criminal actions suggested for those found guilty of corruption.
  • Resolution of Disputes: The audit calls for a roundtable discussion to resolve the various disputes, including the exorbitant development fees and illegal subdivisions.
  • Strengthening Oversight: The report highlights the need for stricter governance and oversight to prevent such abuses in the future, including ensuring that all guarantees and allocations receive proper approval from the Ministry of Finance.

Chamisa Lampoons Incompetent Mnangagwa Regime

By Tinashe Sambiri

Zimbabwean opposition leader Advocate Nelson Chamisa has criticized the Zanu PF administration for its failure to alleviate the persistent suffering of citizens.

In a statement released on Thursday, Chamisa emphasized the need for effective leadership to drive economic prosperity.

Chamisa stated:

“PROPER LEADERS PRODUCE PROPER POLITICS AND PROPER ECONOMICS…

To achieve a functional, productive, and competitive economy that benefits businesses, workers, pensioners, and consumers, we need effective leaders and sound policies.

A prime example is the period between 2009 and 2013, when our leadership was in power. During this time, the economy experienced exceptional growth, with an average annual growth rate of 10.7%.

Domestic debt was nearly nonexistent, and we successfully managed external debt while curbing excessive spending and new debt accumulation.

Citizens enjoyed the ability to withdraw foreign currency from ATMs without limits, and money circulated freely throughout the country.

The construction industry thrived, banks offered mortgages and consumer loans, and civil servants and workers received fair salaries.

Our security services sector was satisfied, and even newlyweds could afford proper lobola, bringing joy to families.

The nation was generally content. We have the capacity and capability to achieve even more.

We will make it happen! #HappyAgain #NewDawn #NewIsGreat”

Zanu PF Hardliners Defend Presence Of Military Tankers In Harare

By A Correspondent

Recent reports have highlighted a significant military presence in Harare, Zimbabwe’s capital, as Zanu PF hardliners assert that the army trucks seen across the city are part of routine drills for Heroes and Defence Forces celebrations.

This claim was made by Varakashi, a prominent figure behind the Operation Restore Legacy Facebook page, who stated:

“Heroes and Defense Forces Drills are underway in Harare the Capital City of Zimbabwe and surrounding towns. The mandate of our Security Sectors is to maintain peace and stability in the country.”

According to the statement, the increased visibility of military vehicles is intended to showcase the government’s commitment to national security and public order.

However, this explanation is met with skepticism from various observers.

Critics argue that the timing of these military activities, coinciding with the upcoming Southern African Development Community (SADC) Summit, suggests a potential agenda beyond mere drills.

The SADC Summit, scheduled for later this month, is expected to attract significant attention from regional leaders and international observers.

The increased military presence could be interpreted as a strategy by the Zanu PF regime to assert control and intimidate citizens, sending a message of authority and stability in the face of international scrutiny.

The juxtaposition of the government’s assurances with the timing and scale of the military deployment has fueled concerns about its true intent.

While Zanu PF officials frame the activities as routine and necessary for national security, the broader implications for civil liberties and political stability remain a point of contention among critics and human rights advocates.

Police Threaten to Unleash Chaos And Violence During SADC Summit

By Farai D Hove | Harare, 9th August 2024 – Zimbabwe stands on the edge of a potential crisis as the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) have issued a chilling warning of their plans to implement severe and aggressive measures during the upcoming 44th SADC Heads of State and Government Summit, scheduled for 17-18th August 2024. The police, under the leadership of Commissioner-General TG Matanga, have made it clear that they will be conducting operations that many fear will lead to widespread harassment and chaos.

Godwin-Matanga

In a press statement, the ZRP disclosed their strategy to deploy a large number of officers nationwide, not limited to the capital Harare. This deployment, purportedly to ensure “peace and security,” includes what has been described as a “stop and search blitz” targeting both ordinary citizens and those suspected of wrongdoing. This has raised significant alarm about the potential for arbitrary searches, harassment, and abuse of power.

“We have deployed adequate police officers and resources to ensure that peace prevails not only in Harare but in all parts of the country,” Commissioner-General Matanga stated. He further emphasized that, “police officers deployed on roadblocks and other traffic enforcement duties will impound all unroadworthy vehicles and take stern action on any motorist who will be found driving through red traffic lights, going against the flow of traffic or creating third or fourth lanes on the roads.”

These remarks have been interpreted by many as a direct threat to the public, with concerns that the ZRP’s actions could spiral into a full-scale clampdown on citizens during the summit. The Commissioner-General also hinted at a harsh approach towards motorists, warning that, “This includes those who will be found driving under the influence of alcohol.”

The aggressive posture of the ZRP comes at a time when Zimbabwe is preparing to commemorate its Heroes and Defence Forces holidays. However, instead of fostering a spirit of unity and peace, the police’s planned measures have sparked widespread concern about the potential for chaos and mayhem. The Commissioner-General made no attempt to soften the tone, asserting that the police would maintain “visibility in residential, industrial areas and Central Business Districts through patrols, stop and search blitz, and monitoring suspects.”

Many citizens are interpreting this as a precursor to heavy-handed policing that could infringe upon their rights and lead to unnecessary confrontations. “The so-called ‘stop and search blitz’ is nothing short of intimidation,” commented one Harare resident, who wished to remain anonymous. “This is not about security; it’s about instilling fear and keeping people in check.”

The Commissioner-General also addressed the issue of unlicensed liquor outlets, stating that the police “will take decisive action against anyone operating unlicensed liquor outlets or shebeens during this period.” He further warned owners of licensed outlets to “ensure that they observe the stipulated opening and closing times.”

As the SADC dignitaries prepare to arrive, the atmosphere in Zimbabwe is one of anxiety and apprehension. Citizens are bracing for what could be a tense period of scrutiny and possible infringements on their rights. The ZRP’s tough rhetoric and the promise of strict enforcement actions have raised concerns that the upcoming days could be marred by civil unrest and a breakdown of public order.

The ZRP’s statement, intended to reassure, has instead escalated fears of a heavy-handed crackdown, with many worried that the summit will see the streets of Zimbabwe become battlegrounds of police excesses. As the nation waits, the tension is palpable, and the potential for conflict looms large over what should be a moment of national pride and international diplomacy.

Green Investments: How Zimbabwe’s Agricultural Expertise Can Boost American Cannabis Cultivation

The rapid expansion of the US cannabis industry has presented numerous opportunities for innovation and efficiency gains in cultivation techniques. By studying Zimbabwe’s robust agricultural sector—with its emphasis on tobacco cultivation and other cash crops such as cotton—American cannabis growers may gain invaluable insights. This article looks into ways the Zimbabwean agricultural experience could enhance cannabis cultivation here through sustainable practices, workforce development initiatives, crop management, and crop planning techniques.

Sustainable Cultivation Methods

Zimbabwe’s agricultural sector has long thrived on environmentally sustainable farming practices that take into account its challenging climatic conditions. These methods can also be applied directly to enhance American cannabis cultivation:

  • Conservation Farming: Zimbabwean farmers excel at conservation agriculture, which reduces soil erosion and improves soil health through crop rotation, cover cropping, and organic mulches.
  • Water Management: Innovative water management techniques developed in Zimbabwe, such as drip irrigation and rainwater harvesting, can significantly decrease cannabis cultivation’s water usage, making the cultivation process both environmentally friendly and cost-effective.

Implementing these techniques can result in more sustainable cannabis operations in the U.S., with reduced environmental impacts and lower operational costs.

Crop Diversification and Management

Zimbabwean agriculture relies on crop diversification to secure income stability while managing pest and disease risks, something American cannabis growers can learn from by adopting the approach taken there:

  • Integrate companion planting practices to deter pests and boost soil nutrients naturally.
  • Implement intercropping strategies to cultivate complementary crops, optimizing space and resources simultaneously.

These strategies not only increase the yield and health of cannabis plants but also promote a more resilient agricultural ecosystem.

Workforce Training and Development

Zimbabwe’s agricultural success can be traced directly back to its emphasis on education and training, which has resulted in strong growth rates in this sector.

  • Skill Development: Zimbabwe invests heavily in primary and tertiary agricultural education, providing extensive training programs for all levels. U.S. cannabis companies could adopt this focus and develop more intensive training programs so workers are proficient with modern cultivation techniques.
  • Community Engagement: By employing community-based training programs from Zimbabwe that have proven their worth, American cultivators may forge more robust bonds within their community while cultivating more committed staff members.

Enhancing training programs in the U.S. can contribute to greater productivity and innovation in cannabis cultivation practices.

Optimal Seed Selection and Acquisition

When aiming to cultivate high-quality cannabis, the initial step is to secure the best genetic material. For those in the U.S. looking to order marijuana seeds, it is crucial to choose suppliers who offer genetically diverse and robust seed options. This ensures that the cultivation process starts with a strong foundation, leading to healthier plants and better yields. Here are a few considerations:

  • Legal Considerations: Ensure that the supplier complies with local and federal laws regarding cannabis cultivation and seed sales.
  • Quality of Seeds: Opt for seeds well-suited to the local climate and soil conditions, which can be learned from Zimbabwe’s focus on crop-specific research and development.

Utilizing Genetic Research

Zimbabwe’s investment in agricultural research has resulted in crop varieties specially tailored to its environment. By working together on genetic research projects, U.S. cannabis growers could cultivate strains resistant to local pests and diseases.

Furthermore, cultivate varieties that yield better under specific climatic conditions prevalent across different parts of the United States. Such collaboration can result in high-quality cannabis that is both sustainable and cost-efficient to cultivate.

Conclusion

Zimbabwe’s agricultural expertise offers American cannabis cultivation an exciting prospect of innovation and sustainability. Adopting proven strategies from one of Africa’s agricultural leaders, U.S. cannabis businesses can streamline operations while contributing to a more productive and less wasteful industry. Furthermore, the transcontinental exchange of knowledge not only benefits growers directly but also supports efforts for global agricultural sustainability and economic stability.

Without Altering Results, Mnangagwa Announces Charamba’s Son Has Lost Olympics

By Farai D Hove | ZimEye | ZANU PF leader, Emmerson Mnangagwa has finally announced that his personal spokesman’s son has lost the Olympics coming out number 8, without editing the results.

Mnangagwa has a long history of boasting of the practice of editing results since 2008 electoral contests, and one of his speeches is his boast that he outshined the then State Security Minister when he was just a Rural Amenities minister who edited Morgan Tsvangirai’s 72percent win so that it reads like 48.

Charamba and Makarawu

In the 2018 elections, Mnangagwa’s party spokesman Chris Mutsvangwa announced the editing of results by the army who did this after shooting dead 7 civilians,, and in 2023, Mnangagwa’s presidential win was denounced by the regional body, SADC, which means at present he is not the country’s president.

But this time the contest is outside the country, in France, and his spokesman’s son has come out number 8.

Mnangagwa who has this long history of editing contest results, announced saying his spokesman George Charamba has truly lost. He said“ My heartfelt congratulations to our remarkable sprinters, Tadiwanashe Makarawu and Makanakaishe Charamba, for placing 6th and 8th in the finals of the 200m race at the Paris Olympics. Their achievements are a testament to the resilience, determination, and unwavering spirit that define Zimbabwe. They have made our nation proud. Let us celebrate their dedication and continue to support our athletes as they represent us on the global stage.”

GNU Era a Testament to Our Ability to Transform Economy: Advocate Chamisa

Zanu PF Hardliners Claim Military Presence in Harare Is Part of Heroes Day Drills…

Former CAF Boss Dies

Former president of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), Issa Hayatou has died.

Hayatou died on Thursday in Paris, France at the age of 77.

The Cameroonian assumed the CAF presidency in 1988 and left office in 2017 after losing an election to Ahmad Ahmad of Madagascar.

He also held high positions within FIFA, becoming the world governing body’s acting president between 2015 and 2016 after Sepp Blatter was suspended.

FIFA president Gianni Infantino said in an Instagram post: “Saddened to hear of the passing of former CAF president, former FIFA president and interim, FIFA vice-president and FIFA Council member Issa Hayatou. A passionate sports fan, he dedicated his life to sports administration. On behalf of FIFA, condolences go to his family, friends, former colleagues and all who knew him. Rest in peace.”

It Never Rains For Magaya, As Yadah Stars Is Hit With A FIFA Transfer Ban

By A Correspondent| Yadah Stars has been hit with a transfer ban by FIFA after failing to settle an $82,000 debt owed to three Brazilian players.

The club was found to have breached its contract by prematurely terminating the players’ agreements, leading to a complaint with the Footballers Union of Zimbabwe.

This case was subsequently taken up by the FIFA Dispute Resolution Chamber, which ruled in favor of the players. FIFA ordered Yadah Stars to pay the owed amount by July 27, but the club’s failure to comply has now resulted in the ban.

The ban prohibits Yadah from registering any new players, both internationally and domestically, until the outstanding debt is paid. FIFA has also instructed the Zimbabwe Football Association to enforce this ban within the country.

As long as the ban remains in place, Yadah’s ability to sign new players for the 2025 Premier Soccer League season is in serious jeopardy. Attempts to get a comment from Yadah Stars have so far been unsuccessful.

Murdered by cops… Nigel Samson

Witnesses say the officers, who are part of the Neighbourhood Watch division, tied Nigel to a Honda Fit mshikashika car after accusing him of drinking alcohol. However, neighbors and bystanders dispute this claim, insisting that Nigel was not in possession of any alcohol at the time.

“He didn’t even have a bottle of any alcohol at the time, they just targeted him,” a neighbor told ZimEye, expressing outrage at the senseless violence.

Disturbing pictures in ZimEye’s possession show Nigel’s bloodied body just after the attack, revealing the excruciating pain he suffered leading up to his death.

Following this tragic event, the Office of the Member of Parliament for Chinhoyi Constituency, Honourable Engineer Leslie Mhangwa, released a statement expressing deep sorrow over the incident.

“The Office of the Member of Parliament for Chinhoyi Constituency, Honourable Engineer Leslie Mhangwa, wishes to extend its sincerest condolences to the family and friends of the late Nigel Samson, who tragically lost his life in a devastating incident involving the Neighbourhood Watch police at Church YeRound area.

Our hearts go out to those affected by this senseless loss, and we share in their grief. As we mourn the passing of Nigel, we find solace in the words of Scripture: ‘Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted’ (Matthew 5:4).

May this poignant reminder bring hope and comfort to the bereaved family and friends, even in the midst of unimaginable pain. We stand in solidarity with them during this difficult time.”

The officers involved in this incident have not yet been detained or charged, sparking widespread anger and calls for justice from the local community. The circumstances surrounding this brutal act are still under investigation, with many demanding accountability for the loss of a young life with so much potential.

Mutsvangwa Threatens Opposition Against SADC Summit Protests

By Jane Mlambo| Zanu-PF spokesperson, Christopher Mutsvangwa has threatened the opposition against planned protests during the forthcoming SADC summit saying the party’s readiness to protect Zimbabwe.

Speaking during a press conference on Thursday, Mutsvangwa criticized opposition parties, specifically the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) and the Movement for Democratic Change (MDC), for lacking internal democracy, which he claimed was the cause of their divisions.

“The President has cautioned those who might try to exploit the presence of international delegates to misrepresent Zimbabwe during the SADC Summit,” Mutsvangwa stated.

“They failed to uphold democratic principles within their own organizations, yet they claim to be experts on democracy. We will defend Zimbabwe’s reputation and the integrity of its leadership,” he added.

Mutsvangwa’s remarks echoed those of Home Affairs and Cultural Heritage Minister Kazembe Kazembe, who recently warned that any foreign-sponsored attempts to incite violence before or during the SADC Summit would be met with appropriate responses from law enforcement.

The opposition has previously used international platforms to stage demonstrations, and recent threats to disrupt the country are seen as a continuation of this trend. However, the Government has reassured the public that the situation is under control.

Minister Kazembe also revealed that the Security Cluster is monitoring secret meetings being held both within and outside Zimbabwe by individuals and groups plotting civil unrest in collaboration with the country’s adversaries. “We are aware of the meetings, the people involved, and their methods, which include hiring taxis to transport demonstrators,” Kazembe disclosed.

Lawyers Challenge State Delays in Bail Hearing for Civic Leaders Facing Disorderly Conduct Charges

By Jane Mlambo| Lawyers representing civic society leaders accused of disorderly conduct expressed frustration over delays by the State during a bail hearing before Harare magistrate Ruth Moyo. The leaders, Namatai Kwekweza, Samuel Gwenzi, and Robson Chere, were remanded in custody until August 16, when the court is expected to rule on their bail applications.

Defense attorneys Jeremiah Bamu, Tinashe Chinopfukutwa, and Charles Kwaramba raised concerns about the State’s handling of the case, arguing that the delays were unjustified. However, State prosecutor Anesu Chirenje defended the proceedings, insisting that all actions were in accordance with the Constitution of Zimbabwe.

During the hearing, the State called upon arresting officer Pangai Gwati, who testified that the accused did not resist arrest. Gwati alleged that the activists had unlawfully demanded the release of Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) interim leader Jameson Timba and 78 other party members, an action deemed unprocedural.

Gwati further stated that Chere, the secretary-general of the Amalgamated Rural Teachers Union of Zimbabwe, has a history of offenses dating back to 2016 and is currently facing a murder charge. He argued that Chere is not a suitable candidate for bail, citing a previous arrest in 2019 on a similar charge.

Defense lawyer Bamu objected to Gwati’s testimony, arguing that the focus should remain on the current charge and that Chere’s past should not be considered as evidence. Despite the objections, Gwati maintained that releasing the accused would lead to further unrest, as they might collaborate with other activists to commit similar offenses.

In response, Kwaramba argued that other individuals arrested in connection with the same incident had been granted bail, and the same consideration should be extended to his clients. He highlighted that Chere was previously granted bail in a 2016 murder case, emphasizing that disorderly conduct is a less severe offense. Kwaramba accused the State of failing to provide compelling reasons for the continued detention of the accused and urged the court to scrutinize the State’s approach.

The court documents reveal that on June 26, at Harare Magistrates Court, the accused allegedly chanted CCC slogans after Timba and other party members were denied bail. Despite police orders to disperse, the accused reportedly resisted, leading to their arrest.

Over $1.2 Billion Looted in Grace Mugabe’s Borrowdale Carrick Creagh Farm Project

By Business Reporter | ZimEye | Date: August 9, 2024 | Harare, Zimbabwe – A bombshell report released by a government special audit task force has uncovered staggering corruption and mismanagement in the development of Carrick Creagh Farm, a high-profile residential area in Borrowdale, Harare.

  6. Conflict of Interest in Legal Proceedings: In a particularly egregious case, the illegal repossession of a resident’s land and transferred it to the wife of an advocate. This blatant conflict of interest underscores the deep-seated corruption linked to the development.

Recommendations and Next Steps

This report lays bare the scale of corruption and governance failures within Zimbabwe’s land administration, raising serious concerns about the management of state resources. The revelations are likely to prompt widespread public outrage and calls for swift government action to hold those responsible accountable.

Education Ministry Plays Blame Game Over Pathetic June Exams Pass Rate

By A Correspondent| The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education has linked the drop in the quality of Ordinary and Advanced Level results to the demographics of external candidates who predominantly sit for the June examinations.

According to the Zimbabwe School Examinations Council (Zimsec), recent reports indicate a substantial decline in pass rates, with A Level results falling by 44.22% and O Level results by 53%.

Taungana Ndoro, the Ministry’s spokesperson, attributed the lower pass rates to the significant number of external candidates and repeat students taking the June exams. These private candidates often encounter additional challenges, such as juggling their studies with other responsibilities or trying to overcome previous academic setbacks.

Zimsec board chairperson Paul Mapfumo highlighted that, of the 144 candidates registered for the June 2024 A Level examination, 125 were private candidates, while only 19 were school candidates.

The ministry has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting all learners, including external candidates and repeat students, by offering study materials, tutoring, mentoring, and flexible learning options.

As schools close today, the ministry has announced that holiday lessons for November examination classes will begin tomorrow. These lessons, which will be conducted by qualified instructors and experienced teachers, will include additional study guides, practice exams, focused revision sessions, and psychological and academic counseling. UANC Calls Mnangagwa to Order

The opposition United African National Congress (UANC) has criticized President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s administration for allegedly harassing political and human rights activists ahead of the upcoming SADC summit.

In a strongly worded press statement, UANC Secretary-General Aliphios Mapuranga condemned the Zanu-PF-led government. “As UANC, we have noted with grave concern the events unfolding in the country ahead of the SADC summit.

“Opposition political and civic organizations’ activists are being abducted and tortured under the guise of maintaining peace and stability in the country. We pride ourselves on being a peaceful nation that respects constitutionalism, yet there is an apparent disregard for the rule of law by the state,” the UANC stated.

The opposition party further criticized the Zanu-PF government for stifling dissent and suppressing criticism. “It seems the government no longer wants to be criticized. Anyone who holds different views is perceived as an enemy,” the statement added.

The party, founded by Bishop Abel Muzorewa, also suggested that the Zanu-PF government may have rigged last year’s election. “From the look of it, whatever is happening shows that the ruling party did not legitimately win last year’s election. It can’t be this paranoid if it truly has the people’s mandate.”

Furthermore, the UANC called on regional leaders to boycott the summit to pressure President Mnangagwa to uphold human rights and democracy.

The UANC’s concerns come as 78 activists, including opposition figure Jameson Timba, remain in remand prison for allegedly planning to incite violence. Recently, three activists—Namatai Kwekweza, Robson Chere, and Samuel Gwenzi—were forcibly removed from a Victoria Falls-bound plane, held incommunicado, tortured, and subsequently handed over to the police. They now face dubious charges of public disorder.

The UANC party is led by Percy Chigodora who took over the reins after the death of Dr Nesbert Mtengezanwa who was now working in POLAD during his demise.

Mnangagwa Gets Tough On Businesses

By A Correspondent

In a recent development, President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s administration has pledged to impose stricter penalties on businesses that engage in unjustified price hikes.

The government’s new stance is part of a broader crackdown on unfair trade practices that officials claim are exacerbating economic hardships for citizens.

On Tuesday, a government source revealed that the administration is preparing to enhance penalties for businesses found guilty of raising prices without proper justification.

“Government is set to increase penalties for businesses engaging in unjust price hikes and other unfair trade practices.”

This move signals a firm response to growing public discontent over the rising cost of goods and services, which many blame on unscrupulous business practices.

The government’s decision comes amid a backdrop of economic instability and inflation, which have placed significant strain on the average consumer.

By targeting businesses that inflate prices unjustly, the administration aims to stabilize the market and protect consumers from exploitative practices.

The proposed increase in penalties is expected to include both financial fines and other regulatory measures designed to deter businesses from engaging in such practices. The government’s stance highlights its commitment to enforcing economic regulations and maintaining market integrity.

As Zimbabwe navigates these economic challenges, the effectiveness of these measures will likely be scrutinized.

The administration’s aggressive approach reflects a broader strategy to address economic grievances and restore public confidence in market fairness.

Tshabangu Nails Human Rights Defenders

By A Correspondent

In a surprising turn of events, Senator Sengezo Tshabangu, the interim Secretary General of the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC), has controversially accused human rights activists of being manipulated by former colonial powers to disrupt the Southern African Development Community (SADC) Summit, scheduled to take place in Harare later this month.

Tshabangu’s statement, made via a post on X (formerly Twitter), has ignited a storm of criticism and speculation.

He asserted, “Yes, everyone has a right to freedom of association, but Zimbabweans must desist from serving the interests of former colonisers.

Let’s shift our focus and have patriotism first and build our own destinies as a people.

Let’s have an opposition standing without foreign interference.”

Political analysts have swiftly reacted, suggesting that Tshabangu’s remarks align suspiciously with the narratives promoted by Zimbabwe’s ruling Zanu PF party.

Critics argue that his statements appear to be a strategic move to deflect attention from local issues and challenges facing the CCC by attributing disruptions to external influences rather than addressing internal concerns.

The SADC Summit, which is anticipated to address key regional issues, has become a focal point of tension, with various stakeholders expressing differing views on its potential impact.

Tshabangu’s comments come at a time when political dynamics in Zimbabwe are particularly volatile, raising questions about the CCC’s stance on foreign involvement and its overall political strategy.

As the summit approaches, Tshabangu’s controversial position highlights the ongoing debate about patriotism, sovereignty, and the role of external actors in Zimbabwe’s political landscape.

The impact of his statements on the CCC’s reputation and its relations with human rights organizations and international bodies remains to be seen.

This incident has added to growing concerns about police brutality and the abuse of power within law enforcement agencies in the region. The community is now calling for an urgent and thorough investigation to ensure that those responsible are held accountable.

More details to follow as the situation develops.

Mnangagwa Paves Way For Chiwenga

By Political Reporter- Zanu PF President Emmerson has honoured the agreement he had with the Junta that he would hand over the party leadership to his deputy Constantino Chiwenga after serving his two terms.

This means that Chiwenga has emerged victorious in the Zanu PF succession battle, from which Mnangagwa’s faction was sidelining him.

This development comes after Mnangagwa, on Wednesday, maintained that he was stepping down when his second term in office concludes in 2028.

This has sent shockwaves through Zanu PF provinces and leadership, many of whom were advocating for him to remain in power until at least 2030.

Speaking at the Zanu PF National Assembly of the Youth League in Harare, Mnangagwa reaffirmed his commitment to upholding the national constitution and respecting its term limits.

He said:

“Besides being a soldier, I am a trained lawyer. I am a constitutionalist. I want our party, our leadership, our people to be constitutionalists. We must abide by the provisions of our constitution to the letter. Kana nguva yekuti uende [yakwana], enda.” (If your time to go comes, leave.)

Last month in Mutare, Mnangagwa had already hinted at his impending departure, declaring that he was serving his second and final term as President of Zimbabwe. He stated:

“I did my first five years, so I am serving my last five years, which I will complete soon, and I will go to rest. We will go to Congress and look for someone who will succeed me. My days to rest are close; we will go to Congress and choose the one who will follow in my footsteps.”

Despite Mnangagwa’s clear intentions, several Zanu PF provincial branches have since lobbied for him to extend his rule beyond the constitutional term limits, ostensibly to oversee the completion of various developmental projects.

Curfew As Army Tankers Flood Chitungwiza

By Political Reporter- President Emmerson Mnangagwa has deployed soldiers and police officers in Chitungwiza ahead of the SADC summit.

This has caused businesses and residents to self-impose an early curfew.

Wednesday afternoon, soldiers and police entered Chitungwiza in convoys, with the soldiers in motorised military gear, while police details moved around armed with water canons, batons and guns.

Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) spokesperson Paul Nyathi said that the security deployments in Chitungwiza were “normal” procedures and that they could potentially be extended to other areas if deemed necessary.

He said:

Those are normal police deployments. Just to assure police visibility. So there is nothing sinister or alarming about the presence of police officers, whether on foot or cycles or when they are conducting motorised patrols like what you are indicating (has happened in Chitungwiza).

It’s not only Chitungwiza, but where there is a need for police to show its presence, we will certainly do so.

Nyathi, however, refused to comment on the duration of

Weed and Workouts: Can Cannabis Enhance Athletic Performance?

The relationship between cannabis and athletic performance has been a topic of increasing interest and debate in recent years. As cannabis becomes more widely accepted and legalized, athletes and fitness enthusiasts are exploring its potential benefits and risks in the context of exercise and physical performance.

The question at the forefront of this discussion is: Can cannabis enhance athletic performance? This blog delves into the current research, anecdotal evidence, and expert opinions to provide a comprehensive understanding of how cannabis might impact workouts and athletic achievements.

The Science Behind Cannabis and Exercise

Cannabis contains over 100 different cannabinoids, with THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) and CBD (cannabidiol) being the most well-known. THC is the psychoactive compound responsible for the “high” associated with cannabis use, while CBD is non-psychoactive and has been linked to various therapeutic effects. These cannabinoids interact with the body’s endocannabinoid system (ECS), which plays a role in regulating mood, pain, appetite, and even exercise-induced euphoria, commonly known as “runner’s high.”

Some research suggests that the ECS is activated during exercise, potentially contributing to feelings of well-being and pain relief. This has led to the hypothesis that cannabis, particularly THC and CBD, might enhance these effects, making exercise more enjoyable and reducing discomfort associated with intense physical activity.

Potential Benefits of Cannabis for Athletes

  1. Pain Management and Recovery: One of the most cited reasons athletes use cannabis is for pain relief. Both THC and CBD have been shown to have analgesic properties, which can help alleviate muscle soreness, joint pain, and inflammation. This can be particularly beneficial for athletes recovering from strenuous workouts or dealing with chronic pain conditions.
  2. Improved Focus and Concentration: Some athletes claim that cannabis helps them enter a state of “flow,” where they can focus intensely on their training. This heightened concentration might be due to cannabis’s ability to reduce anxiety and promote relaxation, allowing athletes to perform without distraction.
  3. Enhanced Endurance: Anecdotal evidence suggests that certain strains of cannabis, particularly sativa-dominant strains, can provide a boost in energy and endurance. This could be due to the stimulating effects of these strains, which may help athletes push through longer workouts or training sessions.
  4. Reduced Anxiety and Stress: Exercise is often used as a way to manage stress, and cannabis might amplify this effect by reducing anxiety and promoting a sense of calm. This can be especially helpful for athletes who experience pre-competition nerves or those looking to unwind after a tough workout.
  5. Improved Sleep: Recovery is a crucial aspect of athletic performance, and quality sleep is essential for muscle repair and overall well-being. Cannabis, particularly strains high in CBD or indica-dominant strains, is known for its sleep-inducing properties. Athletes who struggle with insomnia or poor sleep quality might find that cannabis helps them rest and recover more effectively.

Potential Risks and Considerations

While the potential benefits of cannabis for athletes are intriguing, it’s important to consider the risks and limitations as well.

  1. Impaired Coordination and Reaction Time: THC is known to impair motor skills, coordination, and reaction time, which could negatively impact performance, especially in sports that require precision, quick reflexes, or complex movements. This is why many athletes avoid using cannabis before competition or during training sessions that require high levels of focus and control.
  2. Cardiovascular Effects: Cannabis use can increase heart rate and blood pressure, which might not be ideal for athletes with underlying cardiovascular conditions. Additionally, smoking cannabis can have negative effects on lung function, although these risks can be mitigated by using alternative consumption methods, such as edibles or vaporizers.
  3. Legal and Ethical Considerations: Despite the growing acceptance of cannabis, it remains a banned substance in many professional sports. Check out a step by step guide, it’s important to remember that despite the growing acceptance of cannabis, it remains a banned substance in many professional sports. The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) prohibits the use of THC during competition, although CBD is allowed. Athletes who compete at a professional level need to be aware of the rules and regulations governing cannabis use in their sport.
  4. Inconsistent Effects: The effects of cannabis can vary widely depending on the strain, dosage, and individual tolerance. What works for one athlete might not work for another, and some people may experience negative side effects, such as paranoia or dizziness, which could hinder performance rather than enhance it.

The Bottom Line: A Personal Decision

The question of whether cannabis can enhance athletic performance does not have a simple yes or no answer. While there is some evidence to suggest that cannabis might offer benefits such as pain relief, improved focus, and reduced anxiety, there are also significant risks and uncertainties to consider. Ultimately, the decision to use cannabis as part of an athletic regimen is a personal one and should be made with careful consideration of the potential benefits and drawbacks.

Athletes interested in exploring cannabis for workouts should start with small doses, preferably under the guidance of a healthcare professional, and pay close attention to how their body responds. It’s also important to stay informed about the legal status of cannabis in their sport and region to avoid any potential legal or ethical issues.

In conclusion, while cannabis may have the potential to enhance certain aspects of athletic performance, it’s not a one-size-fits-all solution. Athletes must weigh the pros and cons, experiment cautiously, and make informed decisions based on their unique needs and circumstances. As research on cannabis and exercise continues to evolve, we may gain a clearer understanding of how this ancient plant can play a role in modern athletic performance.

Exploiting Common Mistakes in Texas Hold ’em Cash Games

One of the most frequent mistakes in Texas Hold ’em cash games is playing too many hands pre-flop. Many players, especially beginners, get bored or frustrated when they don’t receive good cards for a while and start playing weak hands like 7-3 suited. This leads to tricky post-flop situations and substantial losses.

Sloppy pre-flop play is another frequent error. Players often call raises too much instead of 3-betting or folding. This passivity can be exploited by adopting a more aggressive strategy. For instance, squeezing in multiway pots can be effective.

Limping with many hands pre-flop is a frequent leak. Open-limping generally allows opponents to see the flop cheaply and puts the limper at a disadvantage. Raising over limps with a wide range of hands isolates them and creates profitable post-flop situations.

Overplaying Hands

Players tend to overplay speculative hands without adjusting their strategy to the table dynamics. For example, small pocket pairs can be overvalued if played aggressively without considering opponents’ tendencies. Adjusting your play according to opponents’ styles is vital. Hands like small pairs or suited connectors should be played cautiously when facing tight opponents. Speculative hands may be more profitable against looser opponents.

When you play Texas hold ’em poker, identify players who are too tight, too loose, or too aggressive and adjust your strategy to exploit these tendencies. For example, against a tight player, you can bluff more often. Against a loose player, you should value bet more frequently.

Another common error is overplaying speculative and medium-strength hands. Players often overvalue hands like small flushes or top pairs with weak kickers. Learning to accurately assess the relative strength of your hand based on the action and opposition is essential.

Overvaluing top-pair hands in small-stakes games is frequent. Players often get attached to hands like top pairs and fail to recognize when they are beaten. Learning to fold top pairs in the face of aggression can save you from losing big pots.

Exploiting Opponents’ Weaknesses

Stack depth should dictate the pre-flop re-raising strategy. When playing deep, larger 3-bet sizes should be used to avoid giving opponents good pot odds. When playing short, 3-bet or 4-bet sizes should leave room for folding later on.

Bluffing too little can also be detrimental. Not bluffing enough makes value bets less effective because opponents will fold more often. Players should consider their overall betting strategy and ensure they include enough bluffs to keep opponents guessing and prevent them from folding. A balanced range with a mix of value bets and bluffs prevents opponents from playing optimally against you.

Fancy play syndrome, where players try to pull off complex moves against simple-minded opponents, is another common mistake. Straightforward play is often more effective at lower stakes than trying to outsmart opponents with advanced strategies.

Poor Post-Flop Strategy

Playing scared is another mistake that many cash game players make. Fear of losing money can lead to overly cautious play. This results in missed opportunities for value betting and bluffing. Players must accept that losses are part of the game and focus on making the best possible decisions without letting fear influence their play to maximize long-term profits.

Slow playing and under-betting are also frequent mistakes. Many players at small stakes cash games fail to extract maximum value from their strong hands by betting too little or slow playing too often. This allows opponents to catch up and win the pot with weaker hands. Proper bet sizing and aggression levels should be maintained to capitalize on strong hands.

Strategic Adjustments

Short-term thinking is a classic error. Players often let recent results influence their decisions. Recognizing the long-term expected value of your plays ensures that bad beats do not derail your strategy.

Another mistake is poor game selection. Choosing the right game is essential for maximizing profits. Playing games with weaker opponents increases your expected value and reduces variance. Conversely, playing tough games with strong opponents can lead to considerable losses. Prioritizing games with favorable opponent tendencies allows for greater profitability.

Inattention during play is another common mistake. Observing opponents’ tendencies and behaviors provides valuable information for future hands. Players who spend their time on their phones or do not pay attention miss out on these insights.

Not studying enough is a mistake among cash game players. Even the best players need to study and refine their strategies to maintain their edge. Consistent study and self-review lead to identifying and correcting leaks in one’s play.

You can improve your Texas Hold ’em cash game performance by focusing on these specific mistakes and strategies. Disciplined and informed play increases your chances of long-term profitability.

Shock as Tshabangu Crucifies Human Rights Activists

Chamisa Aide Slams Mnangagwa Over Unleashing Terror On Civilians

By A Correspondent

In recent developments in Zimbabwe, President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s administration has drawn sharp criticism for deploying military-grade equipment against its own citizens.

Former spokesperson for the Citizens Coalition for Change, Gift Ostallos Siziba, condemned the action in a statement made on Wednesday, highlighting the severity of the situation.

Siziba claimed that the regime has mobilized Israeli-made tankers in Chitungwiza, a city known for its significant opposition presence and political activism.

This move is seen as a dramatic escalation in the government’s response to civil dissent and opposition activities.

The use of such heavy equipment against unarmed civilians has sparked outrage and concern both domestically and internationally.

Siziba further suggested that Mnangagwa’s actions are a deliberate attempt to intimidate citizens ahead of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) Summit, scheduled to take place later this month in Harare.

By showcasing military might, the government may be trying to project strength and control.

In his statement, Siziba underscored the broader implications of this action, saying, “People power is more powerful than people in power.

It’s homeland or death!” This statement reflects a growing frustration among opposition groups and citizens who feel increasingly threatened by the government’s heavy-handed tactics.

The deployment of military equipment in civilian areas raises serious questions about the extent of Mnangagwa’s commitment to democratic principles and the protection of human rights.

Critics argue that this action is indicative of a broader pattern of suppression and intimidation aimed at stifling dissent and maintaining control.

As the situation unfolds, the international community is watching closely.

There are calls for diplomatic intervention and increased scrutiny to ensure that human rights are upheld and that the Zimbabwean government is held accountable for its actions.

The deployment of tankers in Chitungwiza may well become a defining moment in Zimbabwe’s ongoing struggle for democracy and justice.

Currently, 78 families and a one-year-old child are grieving the loss of their loved ones due to the detention of 78 political prisoners.

These individuals, who held diverse political views and exercised their right to freedom of expression, were arrested on June 16, 2024, while celebrating Africa Youth Day.

They have been imprisoned for over 45 days.

Families of individuals such as Namatai Kwekeza, a human rights defender; Samuel Gwenzi, a civil society advocate; Robson Chere, a trade unionist; Promise Munkuli; and Vusimuzi Moyo are also in distress. These individuals are detained solely because of their advocacy for a better Zimbabwe and their opposition to injustices.

Robson Chere’s family is particularly concerned about his health due to injuries sustained during his arrest. Robson, a staunch advocate for workers’ rights, only seeks a better future for Zimbabwe’s workforce.

The family of Bruce Moyo, a young Councillor from Bulawayo, is suffering due to his detention, which stemmed from his exercise of political freedom and youth representation.

Many others, both young and old, are languishing in prison after being abruptly detained for no other reason than exercising their constitutional rights to association.

In Zimbabwe, being an active, conscious citizen and being young has become a crime. The youth are being persecuted for their beliefs and their desire for a better life.

The situation has reached a point where youthfulness itself is criminalized.

This assault on citizens calls for unity across political divides to condemn and reject these violations, violence, and injustices.

To the citizens of @SADC_News and all African nations, this is not civilized politics. It is bizarre and unacceptable and must be condemned by all progressives worldwide.

Zimbabwe must be free and democratic. We, the citizens, with our faith and determination, will bring about change.

Mablanyo Takes Over As DeMbare Coach

Interim Dynamos head coach Lloyd ‘Mablanyo’ Chigowe believes the Glamour Boys will not struggle following the departure of Genesis Mangombe.

Mangombe resigned yesterday and has since joined ambitious Northern Region Soccer League side Scottland.

Chigove will take charge on a temporary basis until the Moses Maunganidze-led executive finds a substantive coach and the veteran gaffer insists everything is okay at DeMbare.

“The first training session went on well given that I have been with the team. So it’s like there is continuity,” said Chigowe.

“The boys responded very well given the talent that has always been in our ranks. We cooperate and everybody pulls in the same direction,” he added.

Meanwhile, Dynamos will host log leaders Simba Bhora at Babourfields Stadium in Bulawayo.

Harare Town Clerk In Hot Soup For Aiding Chivhayo Nemesis’ Corrupt Activities

By A Correspondent| Hosiah Abraham Chisango (54) who is the Harare Town Clerk and Artkins Mandaza (42) who is employed by the City of Harare as a Principal Contracts Administrator who were arraigned before the Harare Magistrates’ Court on allegations of criminal abuse of duty have been denied bail. They will appear in court on the 22nd of August 2024.

It is the State’s case that the accused persons connived to unlawfully award a street lighting tender to Juluka Enndo Joint Venture, a company in which Moses Mpofu who is in custody is the majority shareholder. Allegations are that in so doing the accused persons disregarded an earlier decision to disqualify Juluka Enndo Joint Venture for having failed to meet the bid requirements. The accused persons awarded the tender to a company whose owners also own Synlak (Pvt) Ltd, a company which failed to deliver in a biogas digester tender awarded in 2019. This was contrary to the standard bidding document condition which provides that bidders with bad records from previous City of Harare tenders were not eligible.

Acting in connivance with the evaluation committee, the second accused person drafted the contract between the City of Harare being represented by the first accused and the company, represented by Moses Mpofu not withstanding the fact that they had used a wrong procurement method and without seeking exemption from the Procurement Regulatory Authority. The first accused person then wrote to the Ministry of Local Government and Public Works seeking an advance payment of the contract value of USD9 244 328.71 but the payment was not processed.

D-Day For Jacob Ngarivhume

By A Correspondent| A Harare magistrate Ruth Moyo will today hear the bail application by Transform Zimbabwe leader Jacob Ngarivhume who was arrested on charges of participating in an unlawful gathering and disorderly conduct.

Ngarivhume’s earlier bid to contest his placement on remand hit a brick wall after Magistrate Moyo dismissed his application.

The police accuse Ngarivhume of participating in a June 16 event together with Jameson Timba and 78 Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) activists.

In a related matter, CCC activist Last Chinodya, 45, appeared before Harare magistrate Vongai Guriro on charges of disorderly conduct.

Prosecutor Thomas Chanakira stated that on June 27, Chinodya and others gathered at the Harare Magistrates Court, chanting party slogans and using abusive language after Timba and 78 other CCC members were denied bail. Chinodya’s bail application hearing was deferred for continuation today.

Desperate Mnangagwa Deploys Soldiers in Harare Suburbs To Scare Opposition

By A Correspondent| The government has deployed soldiers in residential areas to maintain peace and order ahead of the 44th session of the SADC Heads of State and Government Summit, NewsDay can report. Police yesterday announced that law enforcement agents would be dispatched to suburbs “where there is a need” to assure the public of police visibility.

This heightened security comes at a time when the government has significantly increased its presence in urban areas ahead of the summit to be hosted by Harare on August 17.

There was a heavy presence of police and soldiers in Chitungwiza yesterday, shocking residents. Soldiers in motorized military gear and police armed with water cannons, batons, and guns moved around in convoys. Sources told NewsDay that the town was far from business as usual, with residents imposing a self-enforced curfew.

Most bars closed early yesterday, and vendors were forced to leave their stalls, according to sources. “There is limited loitering here,” said a resident at St Mary’s shopping center. “People are afraid of the soldiers. There is a lot of uncertainty, so people are staying indoors to be safe.”

National police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi described the deployments as “normal” and stated they could be extended to other areas as needed. “Those are normal police deployments, just to assure police visibility. So there is nothing sinister or alarming about the presence of police officers,” he said. Nyathi, however, refused to comment on the duration of the police deployments.

Police have also launched an operation targeting pirate taxis and vendors to “restore sanity” in the capital. The government recently initiated a crackdown on activists suspected of plotting protests ahead of the SADC summit, with dozens of political and human rights activists currently incarcerated as the crackdown intensifies.

Military Gen’s Secret Girlfriend Says Army Hardware Delapidated

SB Moyo’s Secret Girlfriend Reveals Dire State of Zimbabwe’s Military Hardware

By Farai D Hove | ZimEye | Harare, Zimbabwe – In a startling revelation, Susan Mutami, the secret girlfriend of the late Military Coup General SB Moyo, has exposed critical vulnerabilities within Zimbabwe’s military infrastructure. Posting on social media on August 8, Mutami disclosed that the country’s military hardware is outdated and largely non-functional.

Mutami, whose relationship with the high-ranking military official has remained clandestine until now, described the dire state of Zimbabwe’s defense capabilities. “To those who don’t know, at one stage my son’s father was responsible for procurement of military hardware and to be honest if Zimbabwe was to be attacked today they are so vulnerable. Most of those tanks are just for display. They don’t work, they need spare parts and they are outdated,” Mutami wrote.

She further elaborated on the issue, emphasizing that the existing military equipment is used more for intimidation rather than defense. “Always remember they thrive in intimidation and instilling fear in citizens,” she added, painting a grim picture of the country’s defense readiness.Mutami also revealed details about a military memorandum of understanding (MOU) between Zimbabwe and China. According to her, this agreement promises Chinese support in case of an attack on Zimbabwe.

However, she expressed doubts about Beijing’s willingness to engage militarily on behalf of Zimbabwe, especially against unarmed citizens protesting against corruption and a failing system. “We have a military MOU with China that if ever we get attacked they will step in and assist but I don’t think Beijing will release their military hardware to fight unarmed citizens who are fighting a corrupt failed system,” she stated. Her post, timestamped just before midnight on August 7, concludes with a call for unity and the importance of constitutional rights, particularly the right to peaceful protest. “China unifies people. Peaceful protests are allowed as per your constitution,” Mutami concluded..

This revelation comes at a crucial time as Zimbabwe faces mounting internal and external pressures. The implications of Mutami’s statements could have significant impacts on both national security and public trust in the government’s military capabilities.

The Zimbabwean government has yet to respond to Mutami’s claims. However, the public and political analysts alike are likely to scrutinize these allegations, potentially leading to calls for investigations and reforms within the military sector
