Gruesome Murder In Bulawayo-Male Adult’s Body Found With Missing Brain, Eyes…

IN a chilling incident, a man was attacked by yet to be identified assailants who cut open his head and removed the brain, gouged his eyes, slashed off his right ear and stabbed him all over the body before dumping his naked body near a house in Mzilikazi in Bulawayo.

The naked and heavily mutilated body of the man was discovered near Mashumba shops opposite Happy Valley Tavern yesterday morning.

A portion of the man’s brain was found in a bushy area close to a stream and vegetable garden approximately 65 metres away from where the body was lying. It is also suspected that the assailants washed the body in a sewer stream near the scene before dumping the body near a house in the area. Police also identified three bloodied stones which are believed to have been used to crush the man’s head.

ZRP National police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said police were investigating a case of murder.

“The body seems to have been dragged and dumped away from the murder scene. The deceased is yet to be identified and the motive is not yet known.

There are no suspects at the moment,” said Asst Comm Nyathi.-Soccer 24

Coronavirus Hits Zim Schools, Colleges

COVID-19 is ripping through educational institutions in the country with latest statistics showing that more than 150 learners and teachers at schools and colleges have tested positive.

Sunday News has gathered that 145 pupils and their teachers in schools in Bulawayo, Harare and Matabeleland North have tested positive while 10 cases have been reported at polytechnic colleges. John Tallach High School in Ntabazinduna, Matabeleland North leads the pack with 140 pupils and four teachers having tested positive resulting in the school being cordoned off.

Wise Owl Primary in Harare has recorded three cases while Emakhandeni Primary School in Bulawayo has recorded two cases. It is also understood that six positive cases were recorded at Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo Polytechnic in Gwanda and while four others were reported at Kwekwe Polytechnic recently.

Director of Communications and Advocacy in the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education Mr Taungana Ndoro told Sunday News yesterday that of the affected schools, John Tallach in Matabeleland North was the most ‘surprising’ looking at the figures.

“Only few schools out of 9 625 schools in Zimbabwe have learners who tested positive for the virus which are John Tallach, Wise Owl (3) and Emakhandeni Primary School (2). John Tallach is a unique case and we are actually surprised as to what happened.

“The rest of the schools in the country are observing Standard Operating Procedures to the book, go to places like Manicaland, Masvingo and the Midlands there are no cases of Covid-19 in schools.

Out of the schools that have incidents of Covid-19, some cases really have nothing to do with the schools mentioned, like a teacher at a school in Bulawayo who tested positive for the virus but was actually not attending classes as she claimed she was incapacitated, so it had nothing to do with learners, the school and the education system,” he said.-The Sunday News

LIVE- BREAKING: 2 Kids Vanish In Kambuzuma Last Seen At The Gate of House

Is Moana’s Ghost Haunting The Amuli Family, Why Are They So Confused

Moana

High drama, confusion and controversy have become the hallmarks of the late socialite and fitness trainer Michelle “Moana” Amuli’s burial with the feud surrounding her interment dividing opinion among society.

The matter has now been taken to the High Court, which is tomorrow expected to rule over the dispute between the deceased’s parents over her burial.

The feud between the late socialite’s parents has hogged much of the limelight since Moana died alongside Malawian businessman Limumba Karim and Mozambican model Alicha Adams when Genius “Ginimbi” Kadungure’s Rolls-Royce vehicle collided with a Honda Fit along Borrowdale Road a fortnight ago.

Kadungure died in the accident and was buried last week on Saturday inside the grounds of his million-dollar mansion in Nyamande Village, Domboshava.

The quartet was heading to Ginimbi’s mansion in Domboshava coming from Moana’s 26th birthday party at Ginimbi’s Dreams Nightclub, formerly Sankayi, situated in Harare’s Avenues area.

The interment of Moana was delayed as the family had to follow a lengthy deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) testing process to verify her remains after she was burnt beyond recognition.

A chain of events has continued to play out for the past days disrupting all the proposed funeral arrangements for Moana that included a church service at Doves parlour and a stopover at the accident scene along Borrowdale Road.

Initially, Moana was supposed to have been buried last Wednesday at Zororo Park Cemetery along Seke Road. but the burial was later moved to Thursday before being stopped again at the 11th hour as family wrangles took centre stage. her parents could not agree on religious rites and burial site.

The deceased’s mother Yolander Kuvaoga and father Ishmael Amuli, who are on separation, have so far failed to agree on how their daughter should be buried with the husband flexing his muscles to follow their Muslim cultural rites, which his wife is against.

“I am Muslim and my daughter should be buried as per our tradition.

“Her body should not lie in state in Highfield as they wanted,” Moana’s father said earlier.

As the chaos and drama took centre stage, Moana’s mother, represented by her lawyer Jerome Madondo, made an urgent chamber application at the High Court on Friday to nullify the burial order that was issued on Wednesday.

The application is meant to stop her estranged husband, who is being represented by Marcus Zvirahwa, from reneging on their prior agreement that Moana was to be buried at Zororo Cemetery along the Harare-Chitungwiza road.

Moana’s mother wants the court to grant an interim interdict to stop the burial until the finalisation of the matter.

High Court judge Justice Pisirai Kwenda on Friday deferred the matter to tomorrow by consent from both parties’ lawyers as he wants to hear the two parties’ oral evidence before making an informed decision on the dispute.

The judge also wants Amuli’s lawyer Zvirahwa to file his opposing papers.

“This matter be deferred to Monday November 23, 2020 at 3pm, which shall be the return date for this matter,” Kwenda said.

“The first respondent (Amuli) shall file his notice of opposition by 9am on Monday November 23, 2020. The applicant and first respondent shall attend the hearing on Monday November 23, 2020 to give oral evidence.”

In her founding affidavit, Moana’s mother said she had an agreement with Amuli that their daughter be buried at Zororo Cemetery in the presence of the deceased’s relatives and friends.

She said Amuli later told her that Moana would be buried according to the rites of Islam in her absence, contrary to what they had earlier agreed on.

“I have reasonable apprehension that I, together with other female sisters, colleagues and relations, would be excluded from the funeral rites, which would be unconscionable,” Kuvaoga argued.

She said Amuli stated that she would be excluded from the funeral gathering, which in her opinion would be unacceptable as she is the deceased’s mother.

Moana’s mother also told the court that her daughter had remote ties to Islam as evidenced by her lifestyle.

“I do not wish or desire that anyone be excluded from the occasion on the basis of gender or creed as this goes against not only my sense of community according to custom, but of the general persona of my deceased daughter, who embraced everyone,” she said.

“The deceased was a popular personality with a huge following. Apparently, it would be unfair not only to me, but to other people and relations who knew her personality.”

Moana’s mother said Amuli had changed the burial place from Zororo Cemetery to Warren Hills to exclude her from the funeral gathering, adding that it would be unfair for her and other mou

AFM Church Pastor Sues The Church $13m For “Neglecting Him.”

An Apostolic Faith Mission (AFM) in Zimbabwe pastor is claiming over $13 million from the church as he accuses it of neglecting him after he was involved in a car accident.

Alfred Mujeyi issued summons against his former employer where he argues that the church has not taken care of his medical bills since the accident that happened in 2006.

According to Mujeyi, on November 3, 2006, he was sent by the church to preach during a crusade at Zesa Munyati as part of his pastoral duties.

He was involved in an accident on his way to Munyati and did not receive proper treatment on time as doctors were on strike.

“To this end, the plaintiff ended up spending a month in the intensive care unit (ICU), a month at Avenues Clinic and another three weeks at Parirenyatwa Hospital,” Mujeyi said in his declaration.

“Upon his final discharge, he was transferred from Chakari to Halfway (service) assembly for pastoral duties where he was for only five days.

“Due to his condition, he was transferred again to Dombwe where he spent seven months serving pastoral duties.”

Mujeyi said after he was discharged from hospital, he worked for the church at Parktown Elf Flats until the assembly was closed and he was transferred to Vince Mine.

“Throughout this whole time, the plaintiff had been suffering severe pain and trauma from the accident,” he said.

“As a result of the accident, the plaintiff now has slurred speech, forgetfulness, continuous head pain and has become unemployable.”

The pastor said although he was injured during the course of duty, he was never reimbursed or offered assistance in paying medical bills.

Mujeyi also said he was not receiving any salary from the church during that period.

“As such, the defendant (AFM) is liable for the care of its employees who are injured during the scope of their employment,” he said.

“The defendant has neglected, failed or ignored the request by the applicant to assist him in paying the following: medical bills from Avenues admission at

$3 000 000, medical bill from Opt Prof Kalanga at $5 600 000, pain and suffering at $931 000 and loss of future earnings capacity at $3 870 720.

“Despite demand, the defendant has, however, failed to honour their legal obligation towards the plaintiff, who was injured during the course of his employment with the defendant.

“The plaintiff is left with no option, but to take legal action.”

The church is yet to file appearance to defend.

Zim Brutal Murderer Extradited From Zambia After Being In Hiding For 5 Years

A HWANGE man who has been on the run for five years after allegedly fatally axing his wife has been extradited from Zambia where he had been hiding since 2015.

Lyton Muleya, now aged 44 and his late wife Louisa Miti who was 37 at the time of her death, reportedly had a long-standing dispute over alleged infidelity.

On the fateful day, Muleya allegedly accused his now deceased wife of denying him conjugal rights.

According to police, the couple had retired to bed around 9pm on September 19, 2015 when a misunderstanding ensued over infidelity resulting in Miti leaving their matrimonial bedroom to sleep with the couple’s children aged 11 and seven years in a spare bedroom hut.

Muleya allegedly followed her and punched and slapped her before allegedly picking an axe which he used to strike her once on the left cheek in the presence of their screaming children.

Police said Miti escaped and fled towards her parents’ homestead about 100 metres away but Muleya gave chase and caught up with her. He allegedly struck her again and she fell down.

Muleya allegedly continued assaulting his helpless wife who used her arms to try and block the axe resulting in multiple fractures, police said.

A bleeding Miti allegedly tried to crawl to her parents’ homestead as Muleya continued to assault her.

He allegedly finished her off by hitting her with an axe on the back of the head and she collapsed and died near her parents’ yard.

Her mother who had been awakened by noise found her daughter already dead with a trail of blood leading to her homestead.

Muleya fled from the scene and his whereabouts were unknown until police fished him out of his hideout in Zambia a few days ago.

In a statement, national police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said Lyton Muleya was arrested through cooperation between the Zimbabwe Republic Police and Zambia police.

He said Muleya, who was 39 when he allegedly committed the heinous crime in September 2015, had been extradited from Zambia and is in police custody.

“Police have arrested a Hwange man in connection with a murder case which occurred at Kasibo village under Chief Hwange on 17 September 2015. The suspect fatally assaulted his wife with an axe several times all over the body before fleeing to Zambia. Cooperation between ZRP and Zambian police led to arrest and subsequent deportation,” said Assistant Commissioner Nyathi.

Terrorism Fears Grip Zimbabweans On The Eastern Border After Mnangagwa Declared War Interest Against Islamist Militants In Mozambique

A POLITICAL science student from the University of Zimbabwe, Jethro Ngara, sees doom and gloom as his country dares to wade into Mozambique’s war on terror.

Ngara, 25, said he is too young to die and fears particularly for his parents who are domiciled along the eastern border town of Mutare which is close to Mozambique where terrorists have killed hundreds of Mozambicans.

For Ngara, Zimbabwe’s bid to step in to help Mozambique means disaster for the poor African nation.

“Terrorists will have good reasons to invade Zimbabwe especially from the town of Mutare and spread mayhem here. We are inviting terrorism upon ourselves,” Ngara told Anadolu Agency.

Zimbabwe’s President Emmerson Mnangagwa made calls earlier this month to have soldiers deployed to neighboring Mozambique to crush terrorists in that country.

Taking to Twitter after militants beheaded more than 50 people in the northern part of Mozambique during attacks on several villages, the strongman said: “These acts of barbarity must be stamped out wherever they are found.”

But ordinary Zimbabweans like Miriam Sithole, 34, from Chipinge, another eastern town which is close to Mozambique, is against the idea of rescuing its neighbor from terror attacks.

“I’m afraid personally because if you look where I live, it will be easier for terrorists to encroach into my area while fighting with our soldiers,” Sithole told Anadolu Agency. “I don’t want war here.”

Nothing sinister helping a neighbor

But Simba Mugidi, 43, a high school history teacher in Harare, feels Zimbabwe has nothing to fear if it wants to help its neighbor put down terror attacks.

“If by any chance, our soldiers will go to help Mozambique fight terrorism, that would be fair and fine, as the area they will be operating in is away from home and the danger of Islamic attacks on Zimbabwe is slight,” Mugidi told Anadolu Agency.

The terrorists at the center of the controversy in Mozambique are operating in the northern province of Cabo Delgado, which is over 1,000 kilometers (621 miles) away from Harare.

But last month, terrorists known to target Mozambique, carried their war across the border into Tanzania, where they beheaded 20 people in a terror onslaught unleashed against Kitaya in the Mtwara province near the border with the Cabo Delgado district.

It unsettled many Zimbabweans like Sithole.

Civil society activists like Claris Madhuku — who heads the Platform for Youth Development, which lobbies for democracy in the southern African nation — is shaken by Zimbabwe’s intensions to step into Mozambique’s war against terror.

“We should be very afraid by haste decisions our leaders make on our behalf; this is very dangerous; fighting terrorism is not a walk in the park and our country should expect to see terrorists invading this poor country from any point; terrorists have no notice nor formula,” Madhuku told Anadolu Agency.

Ruling party backers unnerved by war on terror

Yet only backers of the governing Zimbabwe Africa National Union Patriotic Front party (Zanu-PF) are seeing nothing amiss in having the military sent to Mozambique to quell terrorism.

Taurai Kandishaya, a known Zanu-PF die-hard supporter, said: “Mozambique is a [Southern African Development Community member] state and as Zimbabwe we always stand together in solidarity with our neighbor.”

Now, as Zimbabwe has clearly made its intensions known, Kandishaya said: “The Zimbabwe-Mozambique relations date back to the days of the liberation struggle here when Mozambique sheltered our fighters.”

So, to Kandishaya, nothing is amiss about Zimbabwe’s intentions even as Zimbabweans like Sithole and Ngara are jittery.

Opposition’s mixed views on war against terror

Obey Sithole, the Youth Assembly chairperson for the opposition Movement for Democratic Change Alliance, even as he has reservations, sees nothing wrong in the deployment of Zimbabwe’s military to fend off terrorists in Mozambique.

“It makes sense for Zimbabwe to intervene on issues to do with Mozambique. One of the major reasons is to do with the Port of Beira which stands to benefit Zimbabwe’s economic fortunes through imports,” Obey told Anadolu Agency.

But, again he said: “Unfortunately, Zimbabwe is in a state of economic collapse and the intervention is likely to go beyond the interests of peace-keeping, but more to do with illegal siphoning of resources in the pockets of the few ruling elites.”

“This happened in the past and some emerged wealthy and surely today cannot be an exception,” Obey added.

Zimbabwe deployed soldiers to the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) in 1998 to rescue the government of Laurent Kabila from a rebel onslaught, and high-ranking officials from the Zimbabwean government, including army generals, were reported to have amassed quick riches by smuggling minerals from the DRC.

A 2004 UN report fingered Mnangagwa, then-the speaker of the parliament, as one of many officials who looted diamonds and precious minerals from the war-ravaged DRC.

Mnangagwa was accused of facilitating diamond smuggling from the DRC via Harare International Airport to final destinations although he denied the accusations.

But now, even if Mnangagwa’s regime may have an ulterior motive to step into the war against terror in Mozambique, Zimbabweans like Ngara are more afraid of the spilling of terrorism into their nation.

“Whatever our leaders aim to gain from the war against terror in Mozambique at their individual levels, personally I fear the Islamists may pounce on us as a country and cause bloodshed,” said Ngara.

Stay Out Of Politics-President Chamisa Tells Army Generals

Tinashe Sambiri|MDC Alliance leader, President Nelson Chamisa, has reprimanded army generals over meddling in politics.

President Chamisa also took a swipe at Mr Emmerson Mnangagwa’s administration for “attempting to replace the ballot with the bullet.”

Speaking after signing the book of condolences at the Ghanaian embassy following the death of former military boss and ex-President of the west African country, Flight Lieutenant
Jerry Rawlings, President Chamisa told the military junta to stay out of politics.

President Chamisa, quoted by NewsDay said:

“The fact that President Rawlings was able to allow for a smooth handover-takeover and having allowed people to vote, we salute him and we hope that in Zimbabwe, we are not going to continue to see the replacement of the ballot by the bullet or the replacement of the voice of the people in villages and in communities by the sound of the gun.

Let it be about the people, about the civilians defining who they want to govern them and not the military,” he said.

“We stand in solidarity with the people of Ghana and the President of Ghana on the untimely loss of a giant in Africa.”

The first thing that we celebrate as we remember him (Rawlings) is his ability to be an answer to repression.

Of course, it was a military response but people had suffered and what he did most fundamentally was to be able to hand over authority and power to civilian establishment and that is the most important thing that he did.

To end dictatorship and making sure democracy is made possible, so we salute him for his contribution to democracy and making it a reality and setting Ghana on the path of stability, on the path of democracy and civilian authority.

Most importantly, he managed to set some of the institutional markers to issues of handover-takeover. When he came in, he was the one who introduced the issue of having a definite day for handover, so on January 7, there has to be handover-takeover in Ghana, but a month before that, there has to be an election,” added President Chamisa.

Museveni “Kills” Bobi Wine’s Aides

Tinashe Sambiri|Ugandan Presidential candidate, Bobi Wine has condemned the killing of hapless civilians by Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’ s security forces.

The opposition leader was arrested for allegedly breaching locklown rules. He also said two of the people who were shot dead by security forces were his personal friends.

See Bobi Wine’s statement below :

Last evening after reaching home, I watched what has happened for the past three days while I was illegally detained at Nalufenya!

It was then that I appreciated the full extent of the brutality meted out on Ugandans by security forces.

I watched as armed, non-uniformed gangs roamed the streets of Kampala shooting indiscriminately at unarmed citizens.

I watched as they aimed gunshots at buildings without caring who may be hit. I watched as helpless citizens were clobbered by the very people who should keep them safe.

Well, as we prepare to issue a formal statement on the murder and maiming of Ugandans, my thoughts are with those families that lost loved ones. I send my deepest condolences to all of them, and wish those who are wounded a quick recovery.

In fact, I learnt last night that two of the dead were personally known to me and were good friends, including a young man who was at a furniture shop and lost his life when soldiers shot directly into his workplace. He died instantly. We are still taking stock of how each of the 37 citizens lost lives and others continue to die in hospitals. Sending our prayers to them, as we also try to reach out to those we can to commiserate with them.

If any Ugandan still had any doubts about why we need FREEDOM, this must communicate to all of us. No one is safe, until we get rid of the tyrant who has lived by the gun! Gen. Museveni is hell-bent on keeping power at whatever cost. He doesn’t mind killing thousands of people to keep in power against the will of the citizens.

Sadly for him, WE THE PEOPLE OF UGANDA are now determined than ever before to get our freedom.

Museveni is panicking, yet again trying to subdue the citizens into fear and apathy. But not now. The election is approaching and despite all these illegalities and violence, we are soon getting our freedom!

NOTHING, ABSOLUTELY NOTHING, WILL STOP THE WIND OF CHANGE SWEEPING OVER OUR NATION.

Health Alert- Cervical Cancer Is Curable

WHO‘s Global Strategy to Accelerate the Elimination of Cervical Cancer, launched today, outlines three key steps: vaccination, screening and treatment. Successful implementation of all three could reduce more than 40% of new cases of the disease and 5 million related deaths by 2050.

Today’s development represents a historic milestone because it marks the first time that 194 countries commit to eliminating cancer – following adoption of a resolution at this year’s World Health Assembly.

Meeting the following targets by 2030 will place all countries on the path toward elimination:

90% of girls fully vaccinated with the HPV vaccine by 15 years of age70% of women screened using a high-performance test by age 35 and again by 4590% of women identified with cervical disease receive treatment (90% of women with pre-cancer treated and 90% of women with invasive cancer managed).

The strategy also stresses that investing in the interventions to meet these targets can generate substantial economic and societal returns.

An estimated US$ 3.20 will be returned to the economy for every dollar invested through 2050 and beyond, owing to increases in women’s workforce participation. The figure rises to US$ 26.00 when the benefits of women’s improved health on families, communities and societies are considered.

“Eliminating any cancer would have once seemed an impossible dream, but we now have the cost-effective, evidence-based tools to make that dream a reality,” said WHO Director-General Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus. “But we can only eliminate cervical cancer as a public health problem if we match the power of the tools we have with unrelenting determination to scale up their use globally.”

Cervical cancer is a preventable disease. It is also curable if detected early and adequately treated.

Yet it is the fourth most common cancer among women globally. Without taking additional action, the annual number of new cases of cervical cancer is expected to increase from 570 000 to 700 000 between 2018 and 2030, while the annual number of deaths is projected to rise from 311 000 to 400 000. In low- and middle-income countries, its incidence is nearly twice as high and its death rates three times as high as those in high-income countries.

“The huge burden of mortality related to cervical cancer is a consequence of decades of neglect by the global health community. However, the script can be rewritten,” says WHO Assistant Director-General Dr Princess Nothemba (Nono) Simelela.

“Critical developments include the availability of prophylactic vaccines; low-cost approaches to screening and treating cervical cancer precursors; and novel approaches to surgical training. Through a shared global commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals and leaving no-one behind, the countries of the world are forging a new path to ending cervical cancer. “

The strategy is launched at a challenging time, however.

The COVID-19 pandemic has posed challenges to preventing deaths due to cancer, including the interruption of vaccination, screening and treatment services; border closures that reduced the availability of supplies and that prevent the transit of skilled biomedical engineers to maintain equipment; new barriers preventing women in rural areas from travelling to referral centres for treatment; and school closures that interrupt school vaccine programmes. To the extent possible, however, WHO urges all countries to ensure that vaccination, screening and treatment can continue safely, with all necessary precautions.

“The fight against cervical cancer is also a fight for women’s rights: the unnecessary suffering caused by this preventable disease reflects the injustices that uniquely affect women’s health around the world,” says Dr Princess Nothemba Simelela. “Together, we can make history to ensure a cervical cancer-free future.”

The launch is being celebrated with a day of action across the globe, as ministries of health, partners, and cancer advocates engage in activities to improve access to cancer prevention and treatment for girls and women.

Around the world,  monuments are being illuminated in the cervical teal, from Niagara Falls in North America to The Dubai Frame, to city skylines across Australia.  (More information about the events in countries around the world and monument lightings will be posted on WHO’s event site:

https://www.who.int/news-room/events/detail/2020/11/17/default-calendar/launch-of-the-global-strategy-to-accelerate-the-elimination-of-cervical-cancer).

If We Don’t Fight For Our Children’s Future Nobody Will Do It For Us-Hopewell Chin’ono

By Hopewell Chin’ono

What we are fighting for today is our children’s future!

I am 49 years old, my generation has had its time destroyed by this repugnant regime!

It is not about myself, but the millions of Zimbabweans without clean drinking water in townships, your relatives dying without medical care in their homes and the millions of jobless youth watching the sun goes by due to corruption!

You reap what you sow, if you sow stupidity and idiocy following side shows, that is what you will reap, and that is how you will be defined as!

This is not Hopewell’s fight, the anti-corruption struggle is a fight for every Zimbabwean with a brain!

So when you hear them say “…why doesn’t he keep quiet?”
It means that they don’t grasp what this is about!

I am not going to lower my standard to accommodate mediocrity, or a corrupt lifestyle that gives up on moral uprightness whilst it destroys millions of citizens who live in penury!

As I slept on the floor with 2 blankets in Chikurubi Prison, knowing that I have a comfortable home in Chisipite, I did it knowing that the future will be kind to my efforts when I am gone!

I don’t live for today, I live for tomorrow, for what I will leave behind when I am gone!

I can’t stay away from being a journalist because that is who I am, a journalist!

Is Matemadanda Faking Poisoning?

Matemadanda suffering from the poisoning attack

ORIGINAL ARTICLE PUBLISHED ON FRIDAY AFTERNOON.

By A Correspondent | ZANU PF’s most powerful person, next to Emmerson Mnangagwa, the national commissar Victor Matemadanda has been poisoned.

Matemadanda has revealed that he was poisoned during last week’s Provincial Coordinating Committee meeting in Marondera which was also attended by the party leader, Mnangagwa.

Victor Matemadanda on Friday 20th Nov

During the function and immediately just after Mnangagwa had flown off in his military helicopter, a suspected assailant whose identity could not be established at the time of writing, walked over to the place where the commissar was sitting down, and released a powder which made Matemafanda instantly dizzy, confused and then eventually seriously ill.

The assailant, who the man says he cannot remember as he, Matemadanda became instantly confused, and lost memory, had pretended to be assisting the commissar, saying “there is something on your cap let me help you.”

“While they ( the assailant) were doing this, a smelly powder was released from their hands, and immediately I became dizzy,” said Cde Matemadanda.

“The powder I inhaled disturbed me until I had to tell people I am now going to the car.

” As I sat inside the car I suddenly became very hungry and began sweating heavily;

” Then I told the boys I was with, let’s to go OK supermarket to buy some food; when we got there I couldn’t eat and wanted to vomit.

“That was on Saturday, and on Sunday I spent the whole day feeling like vomiting, and feeling a certain bitter taste in the mouth; I did not suspect anything at the time.

“In the evening on Sunday, that’s when I began vomiting, in fact Saturday I vomited 3 times in the night, in the afternoon I had vomited 2 times. On Sunday night I spent the whole night vomiting; this happening 5 times.

“From the morning, I started feeling a swelling at the throat; then I said let’s go to work, but soon after that I started feeling twitching in the eyes and I began rubbing my eyes.

“My body started reacting and my face started swelling.

“I then approached a doctor who then attended to me.

” I think from the experience I once got in 2016, I then obtained the same treatment I once got back then,” he concluded.

Pictures seen by ZimEye show Matemadanda’s face still swollen and sweaty as at Friday the 20th November 2020.

The incident has left questions regarding who could have motives to poison Matemadanda. The attacker could be reacting to their disappointment over their failure during the ongoing district elections, which are happening around the country.

Commenting on the developmemt, analyst, Dr Masimba Mavaza, said he, Matemadanda. is now feeling better. ”

He was asked over the possibility that the man might be suffering from covid-19, to which ZimEye was told, “he was tested and was found to be COVID negative.”

Senior Govt Official Nabbed For Moonlighting

By A Correspondent- A senior government official employed in the education sector served as a principal for the Red Cross Independent College in violation of the Public Service Act.

Investigations carried out by The Standard revealed that Last Kakora is a civil servant in the teaching profession.

However, between March and August 2015, he served at the elite Red Cross Independent College located in Kambuzuma, Harare. He worked as the institution’s principal in charge of administration and other prime duties as would be assigned by the Red Cross, earning a monthly gross salary of US$1 200.

The Public Service Act, the supreme law governing operations of civil servants, does not allow double dipping by government workers. During the time that Kakora was principal at the Red Cross College, he also drew salaries and allowances from government as he doubled as a teacher positioned at Rusununguko High School in Marondera.

Contacted for comment yesterday, Kakora denied any wrongdoing.

“I have always been a volunteer at Red Cross and reports that I served in any permanent position are unfounded. I will get back to you, but those reports you got are unfounded,” he said.

However, documents gleaned by this publication such as the archived payroll at the Zimbabwe Red Cross Society and the contract signed by Kakora at the institution proved his him wrong. Weak supervision in schools by government’s district school inspectors has seen scores of teachers double-dipping by getting contracted to other organisations.

Fall Of The Mugabe Empire?

By A Correspondent- The blistering sun scorches vast swathes of lush green land in the picturesque Mazowe Valley, 40 kilometres north of Harare, as the November heat takes a toll on the baked surface below.

It is mid-morning on a Tuesday and employees at plots surrounding Gushungo Dairy Estates are toiling in the fields under the searing heat; sweating like a sinner in church, while road construction workers take turns to dig trenches, pounding and cracking the earth.

Driving on the tarred road that leads to Alpha Omega Dairy, one sees a sea of poverty. It is evident from the small grass-thatched mud houses that most villagers are living in squalor.

The majority of them have — at one time or another — worked for the dairy company belonging to the late former president Robert Mugabe and his wife Grace, who once bestrode and dominated Zimbabwe’s political landscape like colossuses.

At one time Grace, whose family seized more than 20 farms during Mugabe’s reign — including the one where the dairy is built — once described her late husband and herself as farmers, who have installed a state-of-the-art plant at Gushungo Estate.

She claimed it was the second-biggest dairy in Southern Africa, capable of milking 64 cows at a time. She said the Mugabe owned a herd of more than 2 000 cattle.

Like a haunted island, Alpha Omega — loosely translated to mean the beginning and the end — is now derelict.

It is now a monument to failure.

If a name is anything to go by, it is apparent that the business came to a screeching halt with the end of Mugabe’s 37-year-rule in 2017 when his longtime ally, Emmerson Mnangagwa, ousted him in a military coup.

Before the coup, Alpha Omega benefitted from patronage as government departments and state institutions stampeded to order milk, yogurt and ice cream.

Some of Gushungo’s major buyers included the army, police, parastatals and government hospitals. The company, known for scooping prizes during the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair and Harare Agricultural Show, which were part of the Mugabe hero-worshipping cult, has become a pale shadow of its former self. Alpha Omega is a subsidiary of the former first family’s business empire, Gushungo Holdings.

During Mugabe’s time in power the company was touted as a model of success of the chaotic land reform programme in which Mugabe and his cronies seized white-owned commercial farms and associated businesses for self-aggrandisement in the name of correcting a historical injustice.

Most of the farms grabbed by Zanu-PF leaders and their supporters are now largely unproductive and derelict.

Only a few are thriving.

However, the multi-million-dollar business has fallen on hard times and cannot compete with other dairy companies on the market.

In fact, it now resembles a ghost factory that stands as an ominous power symbol capturing the imaginations and ambitions of the Mugabe family.

Upon arrival, we find the parking lot empty, with only one delivery truck in sight. There is skeletal staff on the premises lingering around.

The yesteryear hive of activity is gone and workers’ crestfallen faces tell a story. The milk-manufacturing plant has gone mute, while the sales department that used to welcome hundreds of clients daily looks deserted.

“Not much production happens here anymore,” one of the employees says.

When The NewsHawks team, posing as clients, enquired about products like the Appertina yogurt and Alpha Omega ice cream, they were met with evasive and unclear answers as to when the dairy products would become available.

An order of five cartons of Appertina yogurt would only be available for dispatch by Monday the following week.

Most of Alpha Omega’s products have disappeared from the shelves of major retail outlets around the country as the multi-million-dollar business empire faces viability challenges.

A half-empty refrigerator in the sales area contained only the Mnandi brand of sour milk. Other products like fruit juices and ice cream were out of stock.

“Yogurts will only be available next Monday. We only made one delivery this week,” an employee said.

The NewsHawks also spoke to a security guard, who said delivery trucks have not been dispatching products daily due to a scarcity of raw materials.

“Business has been very low, we only have one delivery truck going out weekly, but the fresh milk business is still going well.

“We have customers from time to time,” the guard said.

The downturn in the company’s fortunes—just like the rest of the economy—has resulted in employees, including shopfloor workers like guards and milkers, leaving in droves.

Most of the workers believe Grace, Mugabe’s widow, has abandoned the dairy project. The Mugabe family hardly visits the farm anymore, workers said.

Grace has actually been out of the country since before the Covid-19 lockdown early this year. Production at Gushungo Farm, which supplies critical raw materials for the dairy estate, has declined over the years, villagers around also testified.

“The cattle have no food, so you cannot expect miracles at Alpha Omega,” another Gushungo Dairy employee said.

Gamuchirai Mapako, a former worker, said she decided to quit last year after a series of unpaid salary payments.

She has had to turn to vending to eke out a living.

“Before I quit, I used to earn $190. That money could not get me through the week and I hear that things are still bad,” Mapako, a former security guard, said.

Another worker, who is selling kitchen wares for a living, told The NewsHawks that the company was struggling to pay salaries.

“I earn $1 200 and the money always comes a month after the normal pay date. It used to be better when Amai (Grace) used to frequent this place.”

Grace is reportedly staying in Singapore, while her business empire crumbles.

“This project needs someone to really focus their energy on it. A lot needs to be revived at the farm.

There is no way the cattle will get enough to eat without production at the farm. For the process to be complete, more attention needs to be put at the farm,” a worker at Gushungo dairy, Mary Mupasiri, said.

Gushungo Farm has also been affected by the frequent breakdown of boreholes and lack of pasture for the dairy cows. At Gushungo Butchery, a security guard offered to buy meat on credit for The NewsHawks team in exchange for US dollars.

His young family is struggling to survive, he says.

“Just give me your dollars and I will get meat on credit, but you will not get a receipt,” he said.

The butchery could be mistaken for a dumpsite, with old farm equipment that includes tractors, trucks and combine harvesters strewn all over the yard. Our news crew also visited Amai Mugabe High School, an upmarket educational institution nestled in the Mazowe Valley which looked almost deserted.

Only a few students from the examination classes could be seen in the corridors of the school, a result of Covid-19 and dereliction.

A staffer seemed animated as he took the team on a school tour. The state-of-the-art furniture, lecture rooms, laboratories and dormitories look deserted as only a handful of students go about their daily learning routine.

Amai Mugabe School used to attract children of top Zanu-PF politicians and civil servants. It was highly regarded. There were reports that senior government officials were cajoled into enrolling their children at the school.

Some of them did as instructed, feigning support and to curry favour with the Mugabes. But many parents have withdrawn their children from the school since Mugabe’s fall.

The tuition fee, although still expensive, has been cut in the past year to attract students. Students are required to pay US$2 985 per term for boys, while girls pay US$2 945.

The multi-million-dollar Gushungo Holdings, which used to be touted as a model of success of the controversial land reform programme despite reeling under a US$20 million debt, is now a ghost project—it is dying with the decline of the Mugabe political dynasty.

Passion Java Humiliated Over Mnangagwa

By A Correspondent- Kingdom Embassy leader Passion Java was humiliated in Mutare after his clothes were soiled by a Zanu-PF youth official on Friday, who accused him of not respecting President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

There was drama near Java’s church premises in the eastern border city when controversial Zanu-PF youth chairperson for ward 11, Heaven Chihono, popularly known as “Shorty”, pounced on Java.

After committing the offence, Chihono ran into the crowd and disappeared.

Chihono said had been sent by his “superiors” to attack Java for not respecting Mnangagwa.

He accused Java of showing off and not respecting Mnangagwa’s government.

“My brother, I was working on orders from my superiors,” Chihono told this journalist.

“This was the reason why there was no much resistance, we told some bouncers from here in Mutare that we would come after them.

“I took brake fluid oil, mud, water and urine and I put it in one bottle, then I soiled him. He is not respecting our president.”

“I disarmed one of the guards, I took his pistol.

“I do not think he is trained. I then returned his pistol after I soiled his boss.”

Soon after the incident, Java went to Mutare Central Police Station to request for protection as he headed for interviews with a local radio station.

Java was also escorted by a local bouncer, Clyde Jani, a close confidant of Sports deputy minister Tino Machakaire.

Zanu-PF youth chairperson Tawanda Mukodza yesterday condemned the wayward behaviour of the party youth.

“Zanu-PF is an ideological party,” Makodza said. “We don’t condone such behaviour. We don’t do such behaviour in the name of the party.

“If it is true that he is using the name of the party to do such things, we are going to take disciplinary action against him.

“We are always talking of discipline in our meetings, but let me find out first what happened on the ground and carry out our own investigation.

“I don’t lead rebels.”

Meanwhile, Java caused a stir in Mutare as hundreds of his supporters jostled to have a glimpse of him.

Business was brought to a standstill as the self-proclaimed prophet reportedly showered his supporters with cash.

AFM Pastor Sues Own Church $13million

By A Correspondent- An Apostolic Faith Mission (AFM) in Zimbabwe pastor is claiming over $13 million from the church as he accuses it of neglecting him after he was involved in a car accident.

“The defendant has neglected, failed or ignored the request by the applicant to assist him in paying the following: medical bills from Avenues admission at $3 000 000, medical bill from Opt Prof Kalanga at $5 600 000, pain and suffering at $931 000 and loss of future earnings capacity at $3 870 720.

“Despite demand, the defendant has, however, failed to honour their legal obligation towards the plaintiff, who was injured during the course of his employment with the defendant.

“The plaintiff is left with no option, but to take legal action.”

The church is yet to file appearance to defend.

Calls For New Body To Address Gukurahundi

By A Correspondent- Zimbabwe needs an independent commission to effectively address the emotive Gukurahundi issue as the statutory National Peace and Reconciliation Commission (NPRC) has proven to be a disaster, critics say.

Parliament’s standing rules and orders committee recently called on the public to nominate persons to be considered for appointment as members of the NPRC whose five-year term expires in February 2021.

The deadline for submission of the nominations is December 4, 2020.

However, the process does not affect the position of current chairperson Sello Nare, who was sworn into the post in March 2018. Nare took over from the late former speaker of Parliament Cyril Ndebele.

Established under Section 251 to 253 of the constitution adopted in 2013, critics argue the commission has failed in its mandate to ensure post-conflict hearings and reconciliation particularly with regard to the mass killings in Matabeleland in the 1980s.

Critics dismiss it as a mere talk-show body with nothing to show for its existence Effie Ncube a Bulawayo-based activist, said a special commission independent from government claws can be better placed to do the job.

“The Gukurahundi genocide is a complicated matter that requires a special commission with the necessary complete set of skills and experience in international law, forensic exhumations, psychosocial support, and mass atrocity criminal investigations and prosecutions,” Ncube said.

“This means the body must include and be led by people, who have investigated and prosecuted genocide and crimes against humanity in other countries.

“Time is also of essence.

“Therefore, there must be a body entirely dedicated to addressing the Gukurahundi genocide.”

There have been reports of underfunding of the NPRC to ostensibly frustrate its work. In December, 2018, the NPRC appeared before the parliamentary portfolio committee on justice, legal and parliamentary affairs and senate’s thematic committee on human rights and pleaded incapacitation because of inadequate funding from the Treasury.

Mbuso Fuzwayo, the coordinator of the Ibhetshu LikaZulu pressure group that has been vocal in its push for Gukurahundi redress, weighed in saying lack of political support from the government remains a bulwark to the NPRC to carry out its mandate.

“We might have people of integrity, people who are committed in doing their work but as long as there is a government that is politicking about this issue, nothing will be done in resolving the Gukurahundi issue by the NPRC,” Fuzwayo said.

“The NPRC’s role is no longer clear…we also have the president meeting the chiefs minus the commission, and the question is: Do they have the constitutional man-
date to address Gukurahundi?

“Why is he undermining what Zimbabweans asked for (NPRC) to make sure that it fails? A body free from government tentacles is the only option.”

The NPRC lost seven years of its 10-year lifespan as it was not operational from 2013 as expected after the promulgation of the constitution due to lack of an enabling Act to operationalise it.

It has a backlog of cases.

In February 2019, former MDC Alliance proportional representation legislator Concillia Chinanzvavana (pictured) had to take President Emmerson Mnangagwa to the Masvingo High Court seeking a ruling forcing him to extend the tenure of the NPRC by 10 years from 2018 when it was sworn in as prescribed by the constitution.

Justice Joseph Mafusire ruled in her favour meaning the NPRC will be operational until 2028, but to date, its lifespan has not been extended and is set to expire in 2023.

Zanu Pf Stalwart Takes Over Dam

By A Correspondent- Harare City Council officials are in the eye of a storm after awarding a 23-year lease of Harava Dam at a cost of $3 000 to a Zanu-PF official, who is now using the water for brick moulding at a time the local authority is struggling to supply residents with the commodity.

Harava Dam supplies raw water to Prince Edward Water Treatment Plant and the treated water is pumped to areas like Sunningdale, Chitungwiza, Hatfield, Mbare, among other areas.

Council confirmed the government was now investigating how an individual was given the lease for Harava Dam.

It also emerged that the matter was discussed when council officials met Harare provincial development coordinator (PDC) Tafadzwa Muguti, who quizzed them on the matter early this month.

“Government is investigating how an individual was given the lease of Harava Dam when the dam is supposed to feed the whole city.

“The individual makes bricks, the dam has dried up,” the City of Harare said.

Harare mayor Jacob Mafume yesterday said they were investigating how the dam was leased to an individual.

“We are looking into the circumstances of the lease of that dam,” Mafume said.

“We have noted that the purpose that it was intended for is not the purpose that it is being used for, so we are going to relook into the issue with a view to its cancellation.

“It is one of our water sources, therefore, it is important for us to maintain its ownership with the city and that it be used in an ecologically sensitive manner.”

He said the lease was signed before his time and he was nowhere near the process.

Former deputy mayor Enock Mupamaonde reportedly signed the lease on behalf of council after recommendations by the city valuator and estate manager Emmanuel Mutambirwa.

“The person, who got the lease came masquerading as a state agent and worked his way until he got the lease,” said a council official.

“The lease was later signed by the deputy mayor, then Mupamaonde, after a finance committee meeting,” a council official said.

Mutambirwa confirmed the leasing of the facility to a Zanu-PF official only identified as Zhakata, but added that everything was above board.

“I don’t award leases. I just write a recommendation to the council and council decides whether it is possible or not,” he said.

“Prior to that, a person applies for the lease, then we send it to planning. They then planned and I think it takes three years of so, they then return the report to us for us to report to the council and all this was done.

“The finance committee approved that and the full council adopted, then we also did an advert in terms of the law which then culminated into a lease agreement.”

He said he was not aware that the Zanu-PF official was using water from the dam to mould bricks.

“I am not aware of that, but when we went to the PDC’s office, we engaged the lessee, but he said he was not involved in brick moulding and fingered people from the nearby areas including an area called Mayambara,” Mutambirwa said.

“We knew he was from Zanu-PF and he did all processes for about three to four years before he was granted the lease.”

According to the Water Act, water bodies in the country are managed by the Zimbabwe National Water Authority, which provides local authorities, including Harare, with potable water.-standard

Cremator Stuck In S.A

By A Correspondent- A US$100 000 cremator bought by Bulawayo City Council in Japan in 2017 is still stuck in South Africa after the local authority failed to pay R120 000 in taxes.

The cremator was impounded while on transit to Bulawayo by the South African Revenue Services (SARS), which queried its destination.

Council in June engaged the Covid-19 national taskforce led by Vice-President Kembo Mohadi to assist in having the cremator released from South Africa.

Town clerk Christopher Dube submitted a report to council seeking authority to pay R120 000 to SARS as costs of suit to facilitate the release of the cremator.

However, latest council minutes show that the Covid-19 lockdowns are hampering negotiations for the release of the cremator.

Council’s chamber secretary Sikhangele Zhou said Covid-19 had also become a stumbling block in trying to bring the cremator to Bulawayo.

Pennsylvania Judge Trashes Trump’s Electoral Fraud Claims

US President Donald Trump

WASHINGTON – A Pennsylvania judge on Saturday threw out Donald Trump’s claims of widespread electoral fraud there, dealing a new blow to the Republican’s bid to overturn his loss in the US presidential election.

The decision – announced in a scathing judgment which excoriated the Trump team’s legal strategy – paves the way for Pennsylvania to certify Democrat Joe Biden’s victory there, which is scheduled to take place Monday.

With the clock ticking down to Biden’s January 20 inauguration, Trump’s team has focused on trying to stop battleground states from certifying election results, in addition to his numerous legal challenges that have so far failed.

Judge Matthew Brann wrote in his ruling that Trump’s team had presented “strained legal arguments without merit and speculative accusations” in their complaints about mail-in ballots in Pennsylvania.

“In the United States of America, this cannot justify the disenfranchisement of a single voter, let alone all the voters of its sixth most populated state,” Brann wrote.

“Our people, laws, and institutions demand more.”

Biden won the state-by-state Electoral College votes that ultimately decide who takes the White House by 306 to 232.

The Electoral College is due to formally vote on December 14, with certifications to take place beforehand.

States’ certification of results of their popular votes is usually routine following a US presidential election.

But Trump’s refusal to concede has complicated the process and drawn concerns that he could cause long-term damage to Americans’ trust in their voting system.

Only a limited number of Republicans have so far recognized Biden as the winner and called on Trump to concede.

The Pennsylvania court ruling prompted a Republican senator from the state, Pat Toomey, to join those ranks, saying Biden “won the 2020 election and will become the 46th president of the United States.”

“President Trump should accept the outcome of the election and facilitate the presidential transition process,” Toomey said in a statement that congratulated Biden while specifying he voted for Trump.

‘Results are clear’

The judgment in Pennsylvania came hours after Republicans also requested a delay in certification in Michigan, another battleground, in a letter that repeated allegations of irregularities in the state which Biden won by 155,000 votes.

They asked for a delay of two weeks to allow for a full audit of results in Wayne County, the state’s largest and where majority-black Detroit is located, which was won overwhelmingly by Biden.

Michigan’s board of canvassers, which includes two Democrats and two Republicans, is also due to meet Monday to certify the results.

Republican Party national committee chairwoman Ronna McDaniel and the party’s Michigan chair Laura Cox called on the board to “adjourn for 14 days to allow for a full audit and investigation into those anomalies and irregularities.”

Michigan’s Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson has said that audits cannot be conducted until after certification because officials do not have legal access to the documents needed until then.

On Saturday, she posted on Twitter that there had been “no evidence” to draw into question the result of the election.

“In a nutshell: 5.5m Michigan citizens voted,” she wrote.

“The results of their votes are clear. No evidence has emerged to undermine that.”

On Friday, Trump invited Michigan lawmakers to the White House as part of his bid to subvert the voters’ will, but the legislators stood firm, saying they would honor the election’s outcome.

Biden has so far moderated his criticism of Trump’s actions, though he has spoken of “incredibly damaging messages being sent to the rest of the world about how democracy functions,” adding: “It’s hard to fathom how this man thinks.”

Trump has rarely appeared in public since his electoral loss but has not given up on his provocative Twitter campaign.

“The proof pouring in is undeniable,” he tweeted Saturday, when he also golfed.

“Many more votes than needed. This was a LANDSLIDE!”

Twitter slapped another warning label on his tweet, along with others he posted later.

Byo Could Soon Go Into Covid-19 Lockdown As 19 People Die In A Week

THE Government has expressed concern over the growing trend of people flouting Covid-19 pandemic lockdown regulations amid growing calls for their tightening as figures mainly in the Matabeleland region continue to surge.

This comes with reports that the Matabeleland region accounts for 62 percent of new cases recorded in the country in the past 30 days (as of last Friday).

Last week the Bulawayo provincial Covid-19 taskforce said it was recommending that the city goes back to either complete lockdown or suburb specific lockdown as officials try to quickly combat the continued increase in the number of Covid-19 cases in the cityGiving her weekly Covid-19 update on Friday, the Chief Co-ordinator of the national response to the Covid-19 pandemic in the Office of the President and Cabinet, Dr Agnes Mahomva said it was worrying that the public was acting as if the lockdown had been lifted. She said the general complacency in adhering to the lockdown regulations was now hampering the country’s efforts in containing the pandemic.

“Lockdown orders are very much still in place, however, people are just not adhering to them. Government is therefore working to strengthen enforcement and urges the public to do its part by adhering to all existing lockdown orders including all other recommended public health and social measures. It is unfortunate that many people are of the impression that the country is no longer under lockdown, which is not true. The lockdown order is still there, public bars, nightclubs, house parties, beerhalls, casinos, movie theatres and betting houses are still not permitted to operate,” said Dr Mahomva.

She said even though a number of relaxations have been made since the lockdown was declared on 30 March, there was a need to realise that the main principles of the lockdown and the curfew were still in place.

Meanwhile, Dr Mahomva revealed that the rising figures in the Matabeleland region was worrying noting that there was a need for health officials and lockdown enforcement agents work together to effectively contain the pandemic.

“In the past 30 days, we have had 730 new cases of which 260 are from Bulawayo, this translating to 36 percent of the cases, 99 (14 percent) are from Matabeleland North and 95 (13 percent) are from Matabeleland South. This means in the past 30 days; 62 percent of the recorded cases are from the Matabeleland region.

“In terms of deaths in the past 30 days, the country recorded 26 deaths of which 19 are from Bulawayo, which translates to 73 percent. This is honestly a worrying trend and shows us the need to strictly adhere to the lockdown regulations so that we manage to contain the spread of the pandemic in the country,” she said.

Last week, police also warned members of the public that that the country was still under Covid-19 lockdown measures which include a curfew which runs from 2200 hours till 0600 hours the following day and that enforcement of health, safety and security measures was still paramount.

“The Zimbabwe Republic Police reminds the public that gatherings allowed by the Government should strictly observe and comply with the requirement of 100 or less people at church gatherings, 50 or less people at funerals, low risk sports and sports clubs. Let us take note that weddings, birthday, house parties, political and other social gatherings which include musical shows and concerts are still banned.

Church leaders are warned against hosting or convening all night prayers. It is also clear that night clubs, bars, beer-halls and casinos are not allowed to operate under these Covid-19 safety measures,” reads part of the statement.

The Big Five Corruption Beasts

BY TAWANDA MAJONI

Kuda Tagwirei

The Zimbabwean government has just unveiled a national anti-corruption strategy. Good move. But you know how such things always come with a “but”.

Come to think about it, Zimbabwe ratified the United Nations Convention against Corruption close to a decade and half ago. It’s also a signatory to Sadc and AU things on corruption. But it has taken so many donkey years to develop its own national strategy.

But, as the cliché goes, better late than never. The document looks good as a roll of paper. You quickly notice an acknowledgement by the government that fighting corruption stretches beyond just arresting people and taking them to court. Of course, the respective laws and frameworks have always been sensitive to the fact that the anti-corruption drive is more wholesome than that, just that no-one seems to have cared that much.

The new and first-ever strategy is keen to involve citizens in the fight against graft. It wants to amplify people’s voices in this scheme. It wants to educate them on their rights as fighters against corruption. It even wants to involve civil society, and is anxious to see more transparency and accountability with churches and political parties.

It’s actually saying a lot of nice things on how to stem corruption, save that it falls short on other things. For instance, the national strategy, while busy allocating roles to various agencies, doesn’t give a good job on how various interested stakeholders will proceed or work together.

The framework must be clear, not so hotchpotch as is the case, where accountability of the respective agencies is concerned. How is the Special Anti-Corruption Commission (Sacu) going to relate with the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (Zacc) and/or the police without duplicating stuff? Where do you place other security units dealing with corruption? There must have been a clear matrix to explain this, otherwise we will end up going nowhere very fast.

Hopefully, those that produced the strategy will give it another search and make things better, going forward. But that’s not the main import of this installment. As the various anti-corruption agencies sweat on how to implement their strategy, one thing must always be clear. What are the major thematic spaces that need investigating? This is important because, whatever the anti-corruption model being enunciated there will do, the main issue is investigation, then prosecution where necessary.

You know Zimbabwe now. There is what you may call the big five. Zacc, Sacu and other players seem insufficiently sensitive to the big five and must be hastening up to come up with mini-strategies on how to fight the big five.

One, command agriculture. It’s bad in itself that the Zimbabwean government is still rattling with this scheme, which is purportedly meant to make the nation food-secure and agriculturally sound by enabling thousands of small, medium and large-scale farmers to produce crops and so on despite the big tears that it has caused for the people and country over the years.

There is no transparency in the programme. People are looting inputs. Privileged stakeholders are inflating prices and drawing dirty millions from there. There are no records of who is taking what or doing what with whatever they are getting. In fact, records are being destroyed by the leading looters so that they won’t account for the hefty loans they are getting. Criminals like the Sakunda Holdings guys that pillaged the scheme are moving around in First Street and are loving their saggy freedom.

We need to get the culprits in the dock. Why has the command agriculture scandal persisted? Who are the powerful people, who are letting the looting frenzy continue? Why have the findings and recommendations of the Auditor General’s office been ignored? Who is shredding the records? How are the common farmers cheating their way into the scheme and what are they doing with what they get?

Two, diamond mining. Diamond undermining, more precisely. Hey, do you remember that dude called Obert Mpofu? He was the Mines minister during the heydays of diamond undermining in Marange. You also remember the 2013 Mines portfolio committee report that was produced when the late Edward Chindori-Chininga was the chair?

That poor chap — may his soul rest in peace — died in a hazy road accident sometime after the report was tabled in Parliament. He stepped on quite a number of toes, it seems. The diamond industry is a dangerous field. You don’t want to disturb the big guys as they eat, so, when you do, you get into trouble. Nobody is saying Obert Mpofu was responsible. But, you see, the report damned the then minister, directly and indirectly. And it damned lots of other sensitive offices and individuals too.

The thing is, we still need to know who did what in Marange. Who was taking the diamonds and taking them out using dodgy routes? And Mpofu and others still need to be investigated over this, considering the serious allegations that the Chindori-Chininga report raised. Well, Temba Mliswa tried to haul Mpofu over the other time when he chaired the Mines portfolio in parliament. The big man refused to appear before him or anyone. Parliament would still need to hear Mpofu’s and others’ stories on this, but the anti-corruption agencies need to put pressure on the pedal too.

Still on diamonds, there is need to probe current and recent happenings there. How was Anjin readmitted into the Marange fields after being ejected for cheating in 2016? Are they producing diamonds? If so, are they selling the mineral? If so, where and how? The same goes for Al Rosa, the Russian company. What exactly is it doing? Are things being done above board? Were things done above board? You will notice that, of late, there has been some talk about secret sales of the diamonds yet the gems are supposed to run through public auctions.

Then there is the talk of town. gold smuggling. Gold leakages are well documented yet no meaningful action is being taken to arrest this malignancy. How come people are good at documenting things yet seem to be clueless when it comes to taking corrective action? But, more importantly, there is need to investigate how, exactly, the gold smuggling is taking place. It’s definitely worrying when you get to know that even airports, despite all the supposed security and sniffing, are being used to take the gold out of Zimbabwe. Who is behind this rot?

Four, the fuel industry. Clearly, so many dirty things are happening in the fuel sector. The commodity is being smuggled into the country and Zimbabwe is also being used as a smuggling channel. There is so much price fixing and the fuel, particularly petrol, diesel and LPG, is being diverted by public officials. There are fuel barons, aka cartels.

Finally, the forex black market. There are still many unanswered questions. How is the local money still getting out of the banks in large volumes despite strict caps on maximum withdrawals? What’s the role of the banks and the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe in this? How is the forex black market relating with the fuel black market? Et cetera.

“Ginimbi Started From Nothing,”

Genius “Ginimbi” Kadungure’s death in a horrific accident on November 8 pierced a veil that shrouded his personal life, business empire, estate and fabulous wealth.

Always the one to capture his life in digital frames which he shared with his adorable fans, through pictures and short video clips on social media sites, the finer details of his personal life and businesses, however, remained largely inscrutable or opaque.

Eulogies and testimonies from his close friends, associates and relatives have helped to put together pieces of the jigsaw puzzle that were his life.

But no one could possibly claim to have known him better other than his wife of six years, Zodwa Mkandla, who is nicknamed “Zozo”.

“I met him when he was 23 and it was in 2006. We were just friends then but he later on asked me out and we started dating in 2009; this was after three years of friendship,” she opened up to The Sunday Mail last week.

The couple’s relationship blossomed into marriage and they lived together at the plushy and palatial 10-bedroomed mansion in Domboshava.

However, their marriage hit the rocks in 2018.

They duly shared assets and parted ways.

It became a closed chapter.

Despite the break-up, the power couple remained in good books as the two were often spotted together at various parties in and outside the country.

An equally accomplished businesswoman, Mkandla reminisced about the hitherto unknown habits of the late socialite, whom many believe had a taste for the finer things in life.

She said: “He was a very traditional man who didn’t enjoy things like pizza; he was a sadza man served with mabhonzo and matumbu (beef bones and offals). During weekends, he would enjoy hosting his friends at our home in Domboshava.”

‘Snakes’

But how the 36-year-old businessman, with only one Ordinary Level subject (Agriculture) to his name, successfully transformed his life from the seeming backwater of Nyamande Village, to a cash-flush entrepreneur who flaunted his wealth through high-end sports cars such as his recently acquired Ferrari and Lamborghini has been the subject of inquiry over the past two weeks.

Some speculated, as they often do, that the meteoric rise of Ginimbi was driven by black magic.

Ms Mkandla claims the only “black magic” she knew the youthful businessman practiced was burning the candle from both ends.

“When we first met, Genius had nothing to his name — anga asina chinhu — but the man was such a hard worker. He would wake up at 5am to do his gas business. He continued to work hard throughout his life until he made it to the top,” she said.

“I was the first in business, hence I was wiser. Genius had bigger business ideas but I always helped him with the wisdom. Likewise, I would go to him for business advice.

“What I can say without any shadow of doubt is that Ginimbi was a go-getter and never used juju.

“If there are snakes which vomit money, why can’t people get them and be rich? I watched Genius grow from nothing to a millionaire through sheer hard work.”

Kadungure started off in the gas business, where he established Pioneer Gas before spreading his tentacles to neighbouring Botswana through Quick Gases, which he acquired when it was about to go under.

Although it made him rich, he hit the mother lode when he ventured into the fuel business through multimillion-rand tenders to supply diesel to mining conglomerates in Botswana and South Africa.

His lifestyle and tastes ultimately changed.

He began investing in properties such as the ostentatious Domboshava home and high-end vehicles.

But he partied as hard as he worked.

It was his penchant for all-white parties that put him in the limelight.

However, they set Harare’s rumour mill on overdrive as some speculated that they were rituals associated with his ventures.

“We all have our colours and his theme was white; what has that to do with mushonga (rituals)? I lived with Genius and I never saw any juju or rituals. The parties were just him having fun. Anga arimunhu aida zvekunakirwa hake,” said Ms Mkandla.

Recently, Ginimbi’s friends spoke of how the man would binge on bottles of Lion Lager and danced the night away at sungura maestro Alick Macheso’s shows.

It is believed that his favourite music was rhumba and was biased towards international stars like Fally Ipupa and Koffi “Mopao Mokonzi” Olomide.

Estate

Ms Mkandla, said she has nothing to do with Genius’ estate as that will be handled by his lawyers and family.

She, however, hinted that the Domboshava mansion would likely be turned into a hotel, while some of the luxury vehicles will be used as shuttle cars for clients.

“Genius was a very organised man; he obviously left a will. I will only work with the family to help them run the hotel and the transport business since I am already in the hospitality industry through Traverse Travel Agent. I have the clientele which can occupy the hotel and generate money for the business.”

Ginimbi, who seems to have had a huge following both in real life and on social media, brought Harare and Domboshava to a standstill during his burial a week ago, as multitudes graced his send-off.

His transformation from an ambitious pauper to a poster boy endeared him to many.

Few, however, knew that he was once a family man.

Even as his lifeless body lay along Legacy Way (former Borrowdale Road) on that ill-fated Sunday morning, Zozo, his former life partner, closely stood by calling for help.

The young socialite might be dead, but his story remains very much alive.

Disgraced ZIFA Tries To Clear Its Name On Age Cheating Under 17 Team

The Zimbabwe Football Association (Zifa) has denied deliberately breaching Caf and Cosafa Under-17 competition rules after the country — along with three others — was disgracefully booted out of the tournament for alleged age cheating.

Other countries disqualified from the event currently underway in South Africa include Botswana, Comoros Islands and Eswatini with the ejected teams missing out on the opportunity to qualify for the 2021 African

Under-17 Cup of Nations.

But the scandal has forced a reset of the competition, which will now start today having initially kicked off on Thursday last week.

Zifa has since appealed the decision to expel the team from the regional age group championship.

“The Zimbabwe Football Association (Zifa) received with great disappointment the correspondence from Cosafa to the effect that our Under-17 team has been disqualified from 2020 edition after one of the players failed a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) test,” Zifa said in a statement yesterday.

“This is indeed surprising and questionable since we carried out similar tests on the boys and disqualified six for failing to satisfy the bone fusion criteria, taking only those determined to be of the correct age.

“Zifa does not condone age cheating and will conduct further investigations on how the six, who were dropped failed the tests.

“All the boys that travelled for the tournament were tested at a reputable MRI centre in Harare prior to their departure and the centre used a fairly powerful 1.5 T machine. The MRI results were also reviewed by a specialist radiologist, Dr Z Sirdar.

“Our chief medical officer Dr Edward Chagonda is also a CAF certified medical officer. Our team doctor Dr Rabson Zhou, who travelled with the team, has all the test results with him as proof.”

The Zimbabwe Under-17 team coached by Tafadzwa Mashiri had kicked off the Cosafa campaign with a one-all draw against Angola.

Zifa revealed that they have since appealed the decision to expel the national Under-17 team and dared the regional body to reveal the name of the player, who failed the RMI tests.

“The Zimbabwe Football Association is challenging the decision to disqualify our team and has requested Cosafa to avail the name of the player, who is alleged to be over the required age.

“We have appealed against the CAF and Cosafa decision and we are confident that we did not deliberately breach regulations governing the U17 tournament,” Zifa said.

The latest debacle rekindles the bad blood that has characterised relations between the Zifa leadership and Cosafa boss Phillip Chiyangwa in the past couple of years.

At the start of the year the Zifa executive committee was barred from attending the regional soccer-governing body’s annual general meeting (AGM) in Johannesburg allegedly because of outstanding payments and annual subscriptions.

Zifa president Felton Kamambo and Chiyangwa have been at each other’s throats since the former came into office after a surprise victory over the latter in the December 2018 election.

Last year, Zifa was suspended from Cosafa after pulling out of hosting the 2019 edition of the Cosafa Cup, citing inadequate time to organise the competition. Consequently, they were slapped with a US$200 000 fine Cosafa announced a reset of the regional Under-17 tournament as a result of the disqualification of Zimbabwe and three other countries on Friday

The Caf youth competitions committee made the decision to disqualify the teams from the zonal qualifier tournament for the 2021 Africa Under-17 Cup of Nations.

Mnangagwa’s Top CIO Fired For Being Involved In Gold Smuggling Syndicate

Auxilia Mnangagwa

TICHAFA Victor Hwacha, a deputy director with the Counter Intelligence unit of the Central Intelligence Organisation was fired on Wednesday this week for allegedly working with a cartel in the gold sector and undermining the First Family, The NewsHawks can reveal.

Hwacha is a relative of the President and hails from Shurugwi. He is understood to be linked to a syndicate of gold dealers and influential officers in the Prosecutor-General’s office.

The top spy, sources said, is also said to be linked to suspended Criminal Investigation Department boss Crispen Charumbira.

Last month, Charumbira was charged with defeating the course of justice after he allegedly ordered the release of an illegal gold dealer.

However, other sources said Hwacha was sacked for talking bad things about the First Lady Auxillia Mnangagwa and her son in the ongoing gold scandal involving Zimbabwe Miners’ Federation president Henrietta Rushwaya.

“The naturally overzealous CIO operative was dismissed for being the brains behind the soiling of the First Family’s name in the Rushwaya gold smuggling saga. The vocal senior officer was caught pants down bashing the First Lady and her children in an unguarded speech scenario,” a source told The NewsHawks.

Rushwaya is facing a charge of attempting to smuggle six kilogrammes of the precious metal to Dubai via Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport.

Allegations against Charumbira are that sometime in June 2019 detectives from the minerals unit arrested one David Mucheche in Mutare for contravening a section of the Gold Trade Act after he was found in possession of gold without a licence.

Court papers show that the detectives allegedly escorted Mucheche to Mutare Central Police Station and on arrival the detectives briefed their officer-in-charge, Inspector Felix Machaka, about the arrest.

While briefing Machaka, the court papers further show gold dealer David Crobsy entered the office talking on the phone and he handed it to Machaka advising him that Charumbira wanted to talk to him.

Prosecutors alleged that Charumbira unlawfully directed Machaka to release Mucheche without confirmation of the existence of a licence, recording the exhibit in any official book and without pressing any changes against him as well as not ordering the return of the gold to Mucheche.

It is alleged that Machaka complied with the order and the suspect was released. Charumbira’s instructions were allegedly unlawful, according to the state.

The CID boss was first arrested by the Special Anti-Corruption Unit (Sacu) in September after his subordinates alleged he was interfering with their duties by protecting drug and gold dealers after accepting bribes.

“The Only Hiccup Was A Commuter Omnibus Ramming Into The Front Of The Mercedes Benz Pilato Hearse Carrying The Coffin.”

State Media

Enivareta Mapara

WHEN Ms Enivareta Mapara joined Doves Funeral Services 12 years ago, as a security guard, she never imagined that someday she would play centre stage at arguably one of the country’s most unforgettable funerals.

Back then, her job oscillated around the mundane — maintaining security at the funeral home.

But through years of hard work and perseverance, she was eventually promoted to the role of funeral assistant.

When the announcement came to her office that Doves would handle the funeral of late socialite Genius “Ginimbi” Kadungure, it never crossed Ms Mapara’s mind that she would be chosen to steer proceedings leading to the burial of the popular business mogul.

Her manager had no hesitation in picking the 40-year-old ahead of her peers.

For her, it was the gig of a lifetime — driving one of Zimbabwe’s most recognisable celebrities, who in life was known for his taste for fast and fancy cars — to his final resting place.

“In my line of work, when we receive news that we are handling the body of a deceased person, management nominates a driver to collect the body along with an ambulance assistant,” she told The Sunday Mail last week.

“Along with the family of the deceased, we process all the papers at the mortuary while the relatives handle the processing of the burial order.

“At the hospital mortuary we ask the family to identify the body before we collect it.

“We then take the body back to our parlour and place it in a cold room.”

While millions were following the frenzied coverage of Ginimbi’s funeral on multiple media platforms, it was Ms Mapara who was occupying the front seat and leading all the formal processes.

From collecting Kadungure’s body from the mortuary, up to the hour of his interment at his sprawling Domboshava mansion, Ms Mapara was the woman-in-charge.

From the thousands of pictures taken at the event, some may have noticed Ms Mapara, the tall and well-built woman, whose physical outlook seemed to match up with the challenges of her occupation, who stood next to Ginimbi’s gold-plated coffin.

She was praying for a seamless process, much unlike the incident-filled spectacles that usually mar such high-profile funerals.

“Most times unsavoury things happen during such high profile funerals.

“There may be complaints from the family, so one needs to be careful.

“So the night before the burial, I prayed that all would go well.

“I knew that having been nominated to handle such a responsibility meant that the company had trust in my ability to handle such a high profile job.”

For Ms Mapara, the most challenging task during the funeral was leading Ginimbi’s funeral procession from Doves’ funeral parlour in the Central Business District through his famous night club — Dreams — before proceeding to his Domboshava mansion.

The assignment demanded inner strength and patience, she said.

Thousands of mourners had already lined the streets of Harare to catch a glimpse of the flamboyant funeral cortège bringing parts of the CBD to a virtual standstill.

Many roads, including Liberation Legacy Way (Borrowdale Road), leading to Domboshava were heavily congested as thousands of people stood on roadsides to watch the spectacle as the entourage passed.

“I have handled funerals of some high profile personalities, but this one was something else; it was so crowded.

“This meant that I had to be alert.”

The only hiccup which threatened to taint the otherwise incident-free occasion was a commuter omnibus ramming into the front of the Mercedes Benz Pilato hearse carrying the coffin.

Reflecting on the occasion, Ms Mapara says she still can’t believe how well she handled the proceedings.

“I am thankful that we managed to do this work well.

“I always pray to God for help, I was praying that on this day, everything would go smoothly.”

She adds that being recognised during the vote of thanks always gives her the utmost satisfaction.

A tale of hard work paying off

Ms Mapara’s rise from the modest charge of manning office entrances to the zenith of overseeing what may well be Zimbabwe’s funeral of the decade, was not without incident.

It is a tale of perseverance, shrewdness and hard work. For four years she toiled as a security guard, but through determination and an unflinching yearning to rise, she decided to get a driver’s licence.

Using her meagre salary to pay for driving lessons and the road test, she successfully acquired a Class Four driver’s licence.

It was about three years after getting her driver’s licence that she gathered the courage to apply for a job in her firm’s transport department.

There she worked as an ambulance assistant before being promoted to ambulance driver.

She then rose to take her current post of funeral assistant.

Lawyers Dismiss Ginimbi’s Purported Unsigned Will “We are not aware of any will that was prepared by the late Kadungure.”

State Media

Genius Kadungure

THE late socialite and businessman, Genius “Ginimbi” Kadungure, did not register a will to determine how his estate will be distributed, his lawyers said yesterday.

According to Mr Brighton Pabwe of Venturas and Samukange — who were Ginimbi’s long-time legal representatives, there was no inheritance document deposited with any attorneys or with the Master of High Court.

A person can write a will and then lodge it with their lawyers, executor, or the Master of High Court.

“We are not aware of any will that was prepared by the late Kadungure. That document does not exist at the moment,” Mr Pabwe told The Sunday Mail yesterday.

As a way forward, he said, the Master of High Court, Mr Eldard Mutasa, had called for a meeting with the Kadungure family, creditors, and beneficiaries in Harare on Wednesday at 10.30am.

Mr Mutasa could not be reached for comment as his mobile phone was unreachable.

Inheritance law experts explained that it was likely that at the Wednesday meeting, the Kadungures will register Ginimbi’s estate.

The Master of High Court will then determine whether the estate should be distributed through a will or an estate executor.

In the event that an executor is appointed, he/she will then list all the properties, vehicles, creditors in the Kadungure estate and then, later on, agree with the beneficiaries on how the estate would be partitioned.

Mr Pabwe said a clear position on the fate of Ginimbi’s wealth will be determined on Wednesday.

Last week, Ginimbi’s close friend, Mr Nomatter Zinyengere, popularly known as “Sophisticated Hustler” or “Kit Kat”, failed to push through an unsigned will at the Master of High Court.

In the unsigned will, Kit Kat was named the heir to Ginimbi’s Lamborghini Aventador S Roadster while the late socialite’s father, Mr Anderson Kadungure, and his sisters Juliet and Nelia, were listed as possible beneficiaries of the estate.

Repeated efforts to get a comment from Kit Kat were futile as his mobile phone went unanswered. He did not respond to a request for an interview via WhatsApp.

But Ginimbi’s lawyers insisted there was no registered will.

Family spokesman, Mr Darlington Kadungure distanced the family from the purported will and declined to further discuss the matter.

He said a family meeting would be held today at Ginimbi’s Domboshava mansion to chart the way forward.

“For now, we don’t want to say much as a family. We are meeting tomorrow (today) and that is when we will decide what to do with our brother’s estate,” said Darlington.

Information gathered by The Sunday Mail indicates that some of the properties that make up Ginimbi’s estate include the Domboshava mansion, a plush holiday home in Dubai and a mansion in Phakalane Golf Estate in Gaborone, Botswana — a luxury suburb said to be a version of Harare’s Borrowdale Brooke.

Investigations by this paper show that his companies include Pioneer Gases (Zimbabwe), Quick Gases (Botswana), and 27×40 000-litre fuel tankers in South Africa — all under Piko Trading — the holding company of his business ventures.

Ginimbi owned an undisclosed number of top-of-the-range vehicles such as Lamborghini, Ferrari, Rolls Royce, Range Rovers and Bentleys — all worth millions of United States dollars.

Although it is not legally stated as to what will happen to the 10-bedroomed Domboshava mansion, close family associates claim that it will be turned into a high-end hotel while some of the vehicles will be used as shuttle cars for guests.

Three Arrested For Refusing To Make Way For Mnangagwa’s Motorcade, “nesuwo tiri mashefu”

THREE men from Kwekwe have been arrested after they refused to remove their car from the road to pave way for President Mnangagwa’s motorcade before speeding off in the direction the convoy was coming from.

Before speeding off towards the direction where the President’s convoy was coming from, the trio told a police officer who had instructed them to drive off from the road to “leave us alone as we are also bosses.”

While fleeing they also sped through a red robot but their luck ran out when two officers on motorbikes, who were part of the convoy gave chase and blocked them.

The incident happened on Friday in Kwekwe when the President was on his way from Gweru where he had officiated at Midlands State University (MSU) graduation ceremony heading to his Sherwood Farm just outside Kwekwe.

The trio, Tadzoka Nago (42), Stanley Zibako (37) and Honest Diura (47) yesterday appeared before Kwekwe magistrate Mrs Samukelisiwe Gumbo facing charges of contravening the Road Traffic Act and assaulting a police officer.

They were released on $2 000 bail each and will be back in court for trial on 9 December.

The State led by prosecutor Mr Kudakwashe Mazoredze has it that on 20 November, President Mnangagwa’s motorcade was coming from Gweru where he officiated at MSU graduation ceremony heading to his Sherwood farm just outside Kwekwe while the trio was at OK Supermarket main entrance.

The court was told that the trio was approached by a police officer, Clemence Mande who ordered them to drive their vehicle, an unregistered Honda CRV off the road to pave way for the Presidential motorcade. The three, however, responded by telling the police officer that “nesuwo tiri mashefu” loosely translated to “we are also bosses.”

When the police offcer tried to effect arrest on the trio, they allegedly sped off towards ED Mnangagwa Way, where the Presidential motorcade was supposed to pass through. They headed towards Senderai roundabout and towards Industrial Road.
Two of the Presidential motorbikes then gave chase and the trio sped through a red robot as they tried to flee. They were however, intercepted and arrested along Industrial Road. They were represented in court by Mr Charles Chigomere of Mutatu and Partners Legal Practitioners.

Lawyers Speak On Ginimbi Will

THE late socialite and businessman Genius “Ginimbi” Kadungure did not write a will to determine how his estate will be distributed, his lawyers said yesterday.

According to Mr Brighton Pabwe of Venturas and Samukange — who were Ginimbi’s long-time legal representatives, there was no inheritance document deposited with any attorneys or with the Master of High Court. A person can write a will which can only be kept by his lawyers or by the Master of High Court.

Mr Pabwe told our Harare Bureau yesterday that, “We are not aware of any will that was prepared by the late Kadungure. That document does not exist at the moment.”

As a way forward, Mr Pabwe said the Master of High Court Mr Eldard Mutasa has called for a meeting of the Kadungure family, creditors and beneficiaries on Wednesday at 10.30AM.

In the event that an executor is appointed, he/she will then list all the properties, vehicles, creditors in the Kadungure estate and then later on agree with the beneficiaries on how the estate will be partitioned.

Mr Pabwe said a clear position to the fate of Ginimbi’s wealth will be determined on Wednesday.

Last week, Ginimbi’s friend Mr Nommater Zinyengere popularly known as “Sophisticated Hustler” or “Kit Kat” failed to push through an unsigned will at the Master of High Court.

In the unsigned will, Kit Kat was named the heir to Ginimbi’s Lamborghini Aventador S Roadster while the late socialite’s father, Anderson Kadungure and his sisters Juliet and Neria were listed as possible beneficiaries of the estate.

Repeated efforts to get a comment from Kit Kat were futile as his mobile phone went unanswered. He did not respond to a request for an interview via WhatsApp.

But Ginimbi’s lawyers insisted there was no registered will.

Family spokesman Mr Darlington Kadungure also distanced the family from the purported will although he declined to further discuss the matter.

He said a family meeting will be held today at Ginimbi’s Domboshava mansion to chart the way forward.

“For now, we don’t want to say much as a family. We are meeting tomorrow (today) and that is when we will decide what we will do with our brother’s estate,” said Mr Kadungure.

Information gathered by our Harare Bureau indicates that some of the properties that make up Ginimbi’s estate include the Domboshava mansion, a plush holiday home in Dubai and a mansion in Phakalani Golf Estate in Gaborone, Botswana – a luxury suburb said to be that country’s version of Harare’s Borrowdale Brooke.

Investigations by this paper also show that his companies include Pioneer Gases (Zimbabwe), Quick Gases (Botswana) and 27, 40 000 litre fuel tankers in South Africa – all under Piko Trading – the holding company of his business ventures.

Ginimbi also owned an undisclosed number of top-of-the-range vehicles such as Lamborghini, Ferrari, Range Rovers and Bentleys — all worth millions of United States dollars.

Although it is not legally stated as to what will happen to the 10-bedroom Domboshava villa, close family associates claim that it will be turned into a high-end hotel while some of vehicles will be used as shuttle cars.

Gruesome Murdered In Byo, Mutilated Dead Man Nude Body Dumped On Roadside

State Media

There are no suspects at the moment,” said Asst Comm Nyathi.

When Sunday News arrived at the scene at around 8am yesterday, the body had not yet been removed with hundreds of people milling around. There were signs of struggle and blood in the area close to where some body parts were found while the corpse did not have any traces of blood and it is suspected the murderers could have washed the body in a nearby stream before dumping it.

Miss Fatima Tembo, who stays at the house where the body was dumped, said she was alerted by neighbours at around 6am that there was someone lying naked outside her yard.

“I was told there is someone lying naked outside and when we investigated, we saw that he was dead and I went to report to the police. I did not hear any noise during the night or any struggle. Our neighbours, however, told us they heard their dog barking at around 2am but they did not bother waking up to go and find out what was happening as they thought it could be barking at people passing by from a nearby drinking spot,” she said.

Her neighbour, Miss Jeanna Mpofu said she was alerted by a passerby that someone was sleeping naked as she was fetching water from the tap. She also said she did not hear any movements during the night.

“We were shocked to realise that his head had been severed and later realised that his brain was found in the bush along with what is suspected to be his eyes and clothes in a black plastic bag. He could have been bathed at that stream where there is a lot of blood around the area,” said Mpofu.

A police officer said the man is likely to have been assaulted, with three bloodied stones being the weapons and had his scalp missing. The source said there was blood all over the garden area where the brain was found.

“He had three stab wounds on the face while his right ear was cut into two pieces, his eyes were not visible and his scalp was missing.

“He also had injuries all over the body. He was naked and his clothes are yet to be found. He did not have any form of identification on him, so we don’t know who he is,” said the police officer.

Nissan Navara Ploughs Into Bank Queue, Five Injured

FIVE people were injured yesterday when they were hit by a double-cab Nissan Navara that had veered off the road and climbed onto the pavement after colliding with a Nissan Tilda at the robot-controlled intersection near the Bulawayo Main Post Office.

The five, that included a child, a man and three women, were walking on the pavement near a bank when they were hit by the vehicle.

Acting Bulawayo police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Nomalanga Msebele said police were still investigating the matter. Bulawayo chief fire officer Mr Linos Phiri confirmed that three ambulances ferried five victims from the scene of the accident to hospitals.

Witnesses told Sunday News that the Navara was allegedly speeding and went through a red robot at the intersection of Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo Street and Leopold Takawira Avenue before colliding with the other car. Mr Munashe Munyoro, a vendor, who witnessed the accident said he heard a bang as the two vehicles collided, then saw the Navara lurching onto the pavement hitting screaming pedestrians and people in the bank queue.

“I was standing here (close to the sanitary lane) and heard a bang and when I turned my head, I saw the car on the pavement as it ploughed into people walking on the pavement. One of the women was under the car after it had stopped and had to be removed by people. From what I realised, the driver of the Navara failed to stop at the robots as he was facing the red lights but the other car, which had the right of way, had already got into the intersection resulting in the crash,” he said.

The women were rushed to Mpilo Central Hospital for treatment with two of them suspected to have suffered fractures.

Mpilo acting director clinical services Dr Xolani Ndlovu said the hospital received two patients from the accident scene while the rest were most likely taken to the United Bulawayo Hospitals (UHB).

“We received a 21-year-old female who suffered fractured teeth while a male was admitted for observation overnight,” he said.

12 Zimbabweans Feared Murdered By A Belarus-ian Company at Premier

By Farai Maguwu| 12 Zimbabwean artisanal gold miners could have been murdered by a Belarus company, JZ Investments, which teamed up with Chinese nationals, at Premier Estate outside Mutare.

Only 2 bodies have been recovered and no rescue efforts are underway to recover the 10 missing artisanal miners.

Government has cooked up a story of mine collapse. This is a lie.

The truth of the matter is NO mine collapsed. Foreign criminals were given a political license to kill Zimbabweans in their own country…. with impunity. They deliberately filled the shaft entrance with earth, fully aware there were people underground, thereby suffocating the artisanal miners to death. The heinous crime was overseen by armed Zimbabwe Republic Police officers. The government of Zimbabwe, acting in partnership with foreign criminals masquerading as investors, murdered innocent Zimbabweans whose only crime is perhaps being Zimbabwean and poor.

I visited Premier this morning and spoke to a number of artisanal miners who confirmed that indeed 13 artisanal miners went underground but one immediately went out having realized his torch batteries had no power. When he returned to the shaft he saw dozers filling the entrance and he immediately notified them of the presence of 12 artisanal miners underground. No one listened. Instead he was heavily assaulted by Police. He notified other artisanal miners and as concern grew over the safety of the trapped miners, a half hearted rescue operation was carried out resulting in the retrieval of 2 bodies.

I saw clothes on the surface believed to belong to the now-presumed dead artisanal miners. Some artisanal miners claimed their colleagues have cell phones of the 10 missing artisanal miners, which is evidence they never returned to the surface. Most artisanal miners leave cell phones with friends on the surface and they wear torn clothes underground.

The company spokes said one of the two recovered bodies was already decomposing. He then tried to convince us the guy could have died several days earlier due to shaft collapse which might have happened before the excavators covered the shaft entrance. Lets assume its true, so how do we explain the other body which was not decomposing? Was this other deceased guy staying with a dead body underground? For what purpose?

Because of criminalization of artisanal mining, there is no collaboration between government and artisanal miners in identifying those who are missing. Rescue operations have been suspended. Their families might never know what happened to their loved ones as government efforts seem to be at concealing evidence instead of unearthing the truth. Artisanal miners do not use their real names. This means their identity can only be known through close collaboration with the survivor who has since fled the scene after Police assaulted him. Alternatively government need to find a way to gather artisanal miners in the area. But first they need to convince them they won’t be arrested. This will be a mammoth task.

In another bizarre claim, we were told by the Public Relations Official of JZ Investments that the Belarus company which was originally brought in to do riverbed mining is now reclaiming the land to venture into farming following government directive to ban riverbed mining! Are they still using their mining title, if at all they have one, or have they acquired a farming lease under A2? Ok, lets assume they want to venture into farming, do they have the relevant farming skills? If its a real mining company, how can they suddenly change their trade from mining to something completely different?

I saw armed ZRPolice officers at the site. Is this a government project which must be given State security? Why must ZRP protect a private enterprise? Don’t they have money to hire private security guards?

What is the purpose of criminalizing artisanal gold mining, kill your own people who are trying to earn an honest living and bring artisanal gold diggers all the way from Belarus to do exactly what you won’t tolerate when done by those who look like you. We saw deep tunnels and were told the tunnels criss-crossed underground, (something which they hinted affected rescue efforts). Isn’t this enough evidence that our own are well capable and they only need political support to produce on a bigger scale?

Zanu PF, State Media Mum On Cause Of Matemadanda’s Illness

The ruling Zanu PF has confirmed that its National Commissar Victor Matemadanda was ill but remained mum on the cause of his illness, in what confirms that all is not well in the ruling party.

The party’s Acting Secretary for Information and Publicity, Patrick Chinamasa, in a statement last night said Matemadanda has been unwell since 14 November.

“Cde Victor Matemadanda’s sudden illness was accompanied by itchiness of eyes, sweating profusely, swelling of the body and vomiting badly, resulting in him rushing for medial attendance. He has since been attended to and is recovering well as other symptoms have disappeared except itchiness of eyes which is still persisting. Medical tests are being carried out and the doctors are examining the situation to establish what could have caused the illness,” he said.

Why is Zanu PF and state media afraid of confirming Matemadanda’s poisoning incident?

Tight Spot For Govt As More Schools, Colleges Are Hit By Covid-19

Out of the schools that have incidents of Covid-19, some cases really have nothing to do with the schools mentioned, like a teacher at a school in Bulawayo who tested positive for the virus but was actually not attending classes as she claimed she was incapacitated, so it had nothing to do with learners, the school and the education system,” he said.

Mr Ndoro said since the outbreak of Covid-19, schools in the country have intensified precautions. He dismissed rumours that learners at Prince Edward in Harare had been infected by the virus. He also dismissed death rumours at John Tallach that were being spread on social media. Asked on the way forward, Mr Ndoro said learners at John Tallach will be kept in the school until further notice.

“Learners are asymptomatic and stable and are quarantined in order to protect their family members because if you take these infected students back to their homes it may become an explosion. A child belongs to a family and going back there may see the family getting infected,” added Mr Ndoro.

Matabeleland North Provincial Medical Director Dr Munekai Padingani said the number of Covid-19 cases at John Tallach increased from the initial 100 that were reported last week. He said learners were on the road to recovery and were stable.
“In terms of cases, they are now 140 pupils and four teachers that have been infected. They are put in cohorts, according to dates they were tested and whether they are asymptomatic or not. Some are positive without being sick and some are sick and are being treated on site,” he said.

Asked on outcomes of preliminary investigations at John Tallach, Dr Padingani said it was difficult to single out a pupil who travelled to South Africa for a funeral who is suspected to have brought the virus.

“It is difficult to answer because we have many cases reported in Bulawayo and we have many students here who tested positive and reside in Bulawayo so we cannot incriminate that one who went to South Africa. We know that people move up and down so we cannot say it is that student. Investigations are still going on and I cannot say much for now,” he said.

The spike in cases at schools comes when public examinations are expected to start next week. However, Mr Ndoro said Government has made sure there was adequate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at schools in the form of sanitisers, face masks and washing areas, saying that only a few schools were affected as they had no water supply but Government has assisted in rehabilitating boreholes in schools to ensure there is water in all of them.

Bulawayo has continued witnessing a spike in the number of Covid-19 cases over the past few weeks jolting officials to consider re-introducing a ‘specialised’ lockdown. Of the 74 new cases that the country reported on Friday, 48 were from Bulawayo, according to the Ministry of Health and Child Care statistics.

Bulawayo City Council Director of Health Services Dr Edwin Sibanda said the province was testing people every day and hence the numbers being reported while encouraging the public to be vigilant.

“Our cases in Bulawayo are more local transmission than anything, but once in a while you may get an outsider coming in and infecting a number of people,” he said.

He said a lockdown for Bulawayo was imminent if there was no change of behaviour.

“A lockdown is okay on one side but we also have to worry about its effects socially and economically but it might become necessary at some point. We have no bigger message but to encourage people to stick to the basics, ensure social distancing, use face masks, sanitise all the time and avoid gatherings. If we stop moving around, the virus also stops moving around,” he said.

National police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyati said there was a shebeen and nightclub notoriety in Bulawayo.

“We are concerned, there was a person who lost his car while coming out of a shebeen/brothel at around 3am. We have made arrests of people operating brothels and shebeens. We will continue to make the arrests but we want to send a warning to people who think they are now a law unto themselves. They should not cry foul if stern measures are taken against them. It is also sad that we have recorded some murder cases at some of these spots and shebeens in Harare and Bulawayo and this is a fact,” he said.

Meanwhile, our Harare Bureau reports that the Government will today roll out a nationwide community-based Covid-19 testing study that will accurately pinpoint coronavirus hotspots in order to inform the deployment of tailor-made response strategies for specified communities, as part of a coterie of measures to respond to a possible second wave of the pandemic.

Individuals in more than 7 000 households will be screened for the virus in all 54 districts under the National Sero-Prevalence Survey for Covid-19, which runs up to December 30. The National Institute of Health Research (NIHR) will test nearly 4 600 individuals in rural households, while the rest of the study samples will be drawn from urban communities.

NIHR director Professor Nicholas Midzi told our Harare Bureau that only an individual will be tested per household. In Harare Metropolitan province, 1250 people will be tested in 50 communities, while 975 individuals in Manicaland province will be screened in 32 rural communities and seven urban areas. In the Midlands province, 850 people will be tested while 800 tests are set to be administered in Masvingo province. Over 400 individuals will be tested in Bulawayo Metropolitan province, while Matabeleland North and South will each have 375 tests. Mashonaland Central will have 625 people screened, while a further 773 will be tested in Mashonaland East. In Mashonaland West, 800 people will receive the test.

Chief Co-ordinator for the National Response to the Covid-19 Pandemic in the Office of the President and Cabinet, Dr Agnes Mahomva, said a recent Government survey showed that most communities were no longer adhering to standard Covid-19 preventative guidelines.

Horror As Man Bashes Son To Death

AS cases of child killings and kidnappings continue to rise, police have arrested a 38-year-old man from Rusape for allegedly killing his epileptic son.

National Police Spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the incident saying the suspect, Daniel Sarapo, is assisting police with investigations.

He said the alleged murder occurred on September 22 at Kanyangira village, Chief Makoni, Rusape.

“On the day the grandmother of the victim visited the suspect, Daniel Sarapo (38), to inform him that his son was no longer going to school as he was now epileptic,” said Asst Comm Nyathi, “The suspect then allegedly heated some water and tried to force the victim, Devine Sarapo (10), to a bath. He assaulted the victim using a plank and the grandmother who had gone out, later came back and found Devine Sarapo dead.”

The suspect is alleged to have secretly buried the body in a forest in the company of 10 other people without observing the usual cultural rites.

“The matter came to light when the grandmother of the victim visited her other son in Kuwadzana, Harare who directed her to report the matter to the police,” said Asst Comm Nyathi.

“Investigations into the matter are now in progress.”

The news of Sarapo’s death follows the recent beheading of four minors in Chivhu by their mother.-The Sunday Mail

We’ll Restore Civil Servant Salaries To 2018, Minister Says

Paul Mavima….

Civil servants’ salaries will, by June 2021, be restored to the United States dollar value that they stood at during the multi-currency era as Government continues to reform and grow the economy, a Cabinet Minister has said.
In his presentation at the Parliamentary Pre-Budget seminar in Harare yesterday, Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare Minister Professor Paul Mavima said Government had agreed a roadmap with the civil servants representative body, the Apex Council, to continuously improve wages in line with workers’ demands.

Civil servants are demanding a salary equivalent to US$520 which they earned before the country abandoned the multi-currency system in 2019. Prof Mavhima said Government was amenable to meeting this demand.

“We have made a lot of progress with civil servants. When we started this year civil servants were complaining that they were earning something like $30 to $40 equivalent in US dollar terms.

“But if you look at where we are today, using the auction rate, we have reached the US$200 level which is a very big improvement. We have signed an agreement with the Apex Council accepting that level, but we have also in that agreement come up with a road map to continuously improve the conditions of service for civil servants to where maybe by June or July next year we may have clawed back to the levels they are demanding of July-August 2018.”

Prof Mavima implored civil servants to be patient saying meeting the workers’ salary demands was achievable.

“It’s a process. I think it’s important for civil servants to understand that. It depends much on the performance of the economy and if we continue to build on the progress we have made so far we will reach the levels they demand. The truth is that the Government is not in a position to pay the 2018 salaries right now because there is no money.”

Government has maintained that it could afford a minimum teacher’s salary of ZWL$18 000 a month. Last week, civil servants accepted Government’s offer of a 41 percent salary increase and a bonus whose payment will be staggered from this month to December. The increment will see the least paid civil servant earning a salary of $14 524. The deal also saw striking teachers return to work. -Sunday News

Ginimbi’s Wife Offloads “Secrets”

Zodwa and her hubby, Ginimbi

-Sunday Mail

Shock As Man Kills Epileptic Son

ZIFA Challenges Young Warriors’ Disqualification From COSAFA Tournament

The Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) received with great disappointment, the correspondence from COSAFA to the effect that our Under 17 team has been disqualified from 2020 edition after one of the players failed a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) test.

This is indeed surprising and questionable since we carried out similar tests on the boys and disqualified six (6) for failing to satisfy the bone fusion criteria, taking only those determined to be of the correct age.

ZIFA does not condone age cheating and will conduct further investigations on how the six (6) who were dropped failed the tests.

All the boys that travelled for the tournament were tested at a reputable MRI centre in Harare prior to their departure and the centre used a fairly powerful 1.5 T machine.

The MRI results were also reviewed by a Specialist Radiologist, Dr Z Sirdar.

Our Chief Medical Officer Dr Edward Chagonda is also a CAF certified medical officer.

Our team doctor Dr Rabson Zhou who travelled with the team has all the test results with him as proof.

The Zimbabwe Football Association is challenging the decision to disqualify our team and has requested COSAFA to avail the name of the player who is alleged to be over the required age.

We have appealed against the CAF and COSAFA decision and we are confident that we did not deliberately breach regulations governing the U17 tournament.

Mnangagwa’s Bodyguards Test Positive For Coronavirus

Emmerson Mnangagwa last month made drastic changes to his security team after nearly 20 soldiers from the Presidential Guard Brigade, including some that were deployed to his motorcade, tested positive for Covid-19 a few days before the arrival of his visiting Malawian counterpart Lazarus Chakwera, The NewsHawks can reveal.

Zimbabwe has in the past few weeks recorded a surge in deaths related to the respiratory disease after the authorities in Harare eased regulations to contain the pandemic at a time some countries in the West have reintroduced lockdowns. Most of these fatalities have been recorded in the country’s second largest city, Bulawayo.

Sources told The NewsHawks that soldiers from the 1 Presidential Guard Barracks, which is located next to State House along Josiah Chinamano Avenue in Harare, last month tested positive for the coronavirus, prompting their commanders to deploy security personnel from 2 Presidential Guard Barracks in Dzivaresekwa.

Mnangagwa’s security includes the Central Intelligence Organisation, the Zimbabwe Republic Police (VVIP Police Protection Unit) and the military which includes the Presidential Guard and the Special Air Services.

Soldiers from the barracks where cases of Covid-19 were recorded, sources said, are responsible for Mnangagwa’s security in around the capital.

The yellow beret military personnel from Dzivaresekwa provide security to the head of state when he travels outside the capital to places such as his Sherwood Farm in Kwekwe.

“Some officers who form part of the team, including the dreaded rifle-wielding soldiers in the Land Cruisers, tested positive. This posed a big risk to everyone on the motorcade. To deal with the situation, 2PG (2 Presidential Guard) had to provide security,” a source from the Health ministry told The NewsHawks.

The drastic security changes came less than three years after Mnangagwa rotated the security personnel in the Presidential Guard Brigade after the 2017 coup.-The NewsHawks

Our Offices Are In The People’s Hearts-President Chamisa

Tinashe Sambiri|MDC Alliance leader, President Nelson Chamisa has said a return to legitimacy is the only solution to the country’s deepening political crisis.

Addressing journalists in Harare on Friday, President Chamisa described the persecution of veteran journalist Hopewell Chin’ono as a desperate attempt by Mr Emmerson Mnangagwa’s administration to muzzle alternative voices.

“Zimbabwe is in a deep crisis.Journalism is not a crime. The persecution of Hopewell Chin’ono indicates that Zimbabwe is a Banana Republic in which journalists are harassed for exposing corruption,” said President Chamisa.

He added:”Our offices are in the minds and hearts of the people of Zimbabwe. We do not need physical offices to push for freedom. The people’s party has its headquarters in the people’s minds.Nobody can stop the people’s struggle.”

“Cause” Of Ginimbi Death Revealed

By Matthew Takaona

Respected scholar and Roman Catholic Priest, Fr Kennedy Makamure has written an article drawing parallels between the Bible and Moana’s birthday party that went wrong resulting in the cruel death of four people including herself and popular socialite and millionaire Genius Kadungure (Ginimbi).

The article is thorough with Biblical examples of birthday parties that went awry.

However, the suspense in the article is that Fr Makamure does not conclusively say whether birthday parties are right or wrong for Christians although he gives four examples of prominent parties that went wrong; resulting in murder, dethronement of powerful kings and natural disasters.

Fr Makamure, a lecturer at Arrupe Jesuit University warns his readers that if they overstep, which he says is common at parties, God will react and he says Ginimbi and Moana died because they overstepped, not once, not twice; it could be many times.

Ginimbi died in a road accident after the party and his three colleagues in the trendy Rolls-Royce Wraith were burnt beyond recognition after the vehicle burst into flames.

Fr Makamure dismisses beliefs widely held on social media that Ginimbi met his death because he belonged to one occult or another. He says Ginimbi and Moana clearly disregarded God.

He says that God has been watching their transgressions and quotes Psalm 50 verse 16 to 22 which gives serious warning against the kind of behavior that obtained at a nightclub in Harare.

Verse 21 in particular says; “These things you have done I have been silent; you thought I was one like yourself. But now I rebuke you and lay the charge before you.

“Mark this then you who forget God, lest I tear you apart and there be none to deliver!”

He says the beheading of John the Baptist took place at a birthday party.

In Matthew 14:3-11 Herod the Tetrarch held his birthday party and after getting drunk he got overexcited with the dancing moves of his daughter. Under oath, he promises the daughter anything she wanted and after consulting her mother, the daughter demands the head of John the Baptist.

Fr Makamure says the goings-on at Moana’s birthday could not please God and what lessons were people going to draw from such a party if God had not acted.

Moana’s birthday cake was in the shape of a woman; nude except for a bra and a stripper’s undergarment. Moana licked the cake in what Fr Makamure says is an open endorsement of disguised ‘cannibalism’ and promotion of illicit sex.

“What was the meaning of this? A human body cake? What influence was this going to leave in people if everything had gone well without a glitch?

“When people continue to openly promote sin and greed, how is God supposed to react? When people involve themselves in wild parties, is God supposed to be blind and deaf to such things,” asked Fr Makamure in the article.

Even Moana’s young sister Tatenda while giving an interview to a local media house said she was shocked to see her sister licking the breasts of a cake made in a human form. The act made her cringe inside. She had no doubt that this was Satanic.

Fr Makamure says that the behavior at the party was unchristian and quotes 2 Peter 2:14; “With eyes full of adultery, they never stop sinning; they seduce the unstable; they are experts in greed; an accursed brood”.

He says many parties in the Bible ended in fatalities because they had an underlying element of defying God.
The other examples of parties that ended tragically are Job 1:13, 18-19. Job lost all his 10 children after a strong wind hit the house where they were having a party. Job as a result cursed his own party.

In Daniel 5; 1-5, 22-28, the Great Nebuchadnezzar King of Babylon got intoxicated at a party and ordered gold and silver wares that belonged to God to be brought out and be used for personal and selfish ends. The Great King lost his Kingdom to the Persians.

In Genesis 40:20-22 King Pharaoh had a birthday party and after feasting and drinking he got excited and killed a chief baker by hanging him from a tree.

Fr Makamure says many people are counting their losses after parties; some have lost dignity, virginity, some got pregnant and others are infected with disease.

He urged Christians to take particular interest in the parties that their children go to as some have become exclusive alcohol-sex parties.

Partying and godliness are two opposing sides and the consequences are always there for all to see, concludes Fr Makamure.

MISA Zimbabwe Statement On Issuance Of Television Licences

While the decision to license more television stations is a welcome development, MISA Zimbabwe is worried at the lack of diversity in the granting of the TV licences.

The new TV licence holders either already hold print or broadcasting licences or are linked to the government or the governing party.

With this scenario, the country risks having a homogeneity of news and views, an anathema to democracy.

If Zimbabwe is to have a truly diverse media, there is a need for more players from different backgrounds to be granted licences.

MISA Zimbabwe notes that the BAZ will soon start the process of licensing community radio stations and is worried that if this trend continues, only players with links to the government will be granted licences, yet again.

MISA Zimbabwe, therefore, calls for the genuine liberalisation of the airwaves, where diversity and pluralism are the guiding principles in the granting of licences.

BREAKING: ZANU PF And ZBC Finally Confirm Matemadanda Unwell But Not A Single Mention Of Poisoning | WHAT ARE THEY HIDING?

” As I sat inside the car I suddenly became very hungry and began sweating heavily;

Politicians Sell Donated Maize

By A Correspondent- Politicians who are well known in Manicaland are reportedly selling branded maize-meal from donor agencies meant for underprivileged members of the community.

The maize meal is being sold at the prevailing retail price by unscrupulous shop owners across the province who get the product from vehicles owned by known politicians.

Manicaland Records 100 Malaria Deaths

By Correspondent- Manicaland Province has recorded over 100 deaths from malaria since the beginning of the year, while thousands have been affected.

According to Manicaland Provincial Medical Director Simon Nyadundu, the province has been recording between 800 and 1 000 malaria cases every week for the past three weeks.

He said:

Manicaland has districts with the highest incidence for malaria nationally. To date, we have lost more than 100 people to malaria, which is a big number compared to around 80 at the same time last year.

Most of the deaths happened during the peak season around March and April. We have already exceeded the total for last year and the figures will definitely be higher by end of the year.

Nyadundu said most of the deaths were a result of delays in seeking medical attention.

Manicaland province is among the country’s malaria hotspots, with three out of its seven districts (Nyanga, Mutasa and Mutare) among the top 10 districts with the highest burden countrywide.

Mozambiquen Alisha Adamu’s Remains Set To Be Repatriated, Family Fumes At Ginimbi’s Friends

Alisha Adamu

Mozambican Alisha Adamu was burnt beyond recognition in a road accident that claimed car owner Genius “Ginimbi” Kadungure, Michelle “Moana” Amuli and Malawian Limumba Karim
Her relatives, led by her father, are in the country and yesterday they collected the body from Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals’ mortuary to a local parlour.

H-Metro established that Alisha’s body would be met by other relatives at Forbes border post where it will be taken to Maputo by air. Burial is set for Matola.

However, the family is angry at the treatment they allegedly received from Ginimbi’s friends. It is claimed that they promised to help Alisha’s family and relatives but have not been reachable since then.

“We are disappointed by Rimo and the other person who came to dump my daughter’s belongings at the hotel promising to assist but they never showed up ever since,” said a member of the delegation.

It is believed that Ginimbi’s friends committed themselves to helping out families of the three accident victims as a way of facilitating smooth burial of their hero. Once that was done, they reneged on all promises and pledges.

Ginimbi, who escaped the fire that engulfed his Rolls Royce but died on the grass where a good Samaritan had put him, was laid to rest at his Domboshava mansion last week on Saturday.

There were complications with bodies of the others who were burnt beyond recognition and DNA tests had to be carried out to make sure, hence the delays in burials.

Earlier in the week, a Kadungure family spokesman told H-Metro that Moana’s mother had sent them a bill of about US$5000 to cover funeral expenses.

Darlington Kadungure said they do not have money to foot the bill presented.

“We are here to represent the Kadungure family and we have a list of what they expect us to settle for the burial of Moana.

“The list includes payment for the metal coffin they want and other things.

“We do not have enough of what they are expecting from us since the person who had the money (Ginimbi) perished in the same accident that claimed Moana.

“We met as a family and collected something we are sure they will accept since it does not add to what they expected us to pay.

“We are sorry about the tragedy that claimed Moana, two others and our brother Genius. We still believe this mishap robbed us important people to the four families at one time,” he said. HMetro.

Another Car Burnt Up in Flames Exactly 6 days After Ginimbis car Accident – Harare

The burnt car after the successful rescue

By Isheanesu Mutyambizi I A car accident occurred along Steppes road in Harare, trapping three females who were quickly saved by two passerbys.

One of the rescuers, Mr Gugulethu Gumpo (pictured below)

One of the rescuers Mr Gugulethu Gumpo

managed to save the victims before the car started to burn after it had hit a tree.

The Greendale fire bigrade was quick onto the scene and managed to put out the flames, and the Harare ambulance services responded early providing treatment.

The victims were three young girls, with the eldest 18 years old and they didn’t suffer any major injuries.

This incident might put to rest the conspiracy theories about the late businessman, Genius Kadangure also known as Ginimbi of assassination.

Mr Gumpo spoke to Zimeye in the following interview

“There is a gentlemen we assisted and I only realised when we had done that we assisted to get one of the three ladies out so I need to get those facts clearly so that when you are now giving the story its straight forward and its clear and the exact truth of what happened.

“I pulled two out of three …. There were three passengers… I pulled out the driver and one the people should have been the young sister or the brother I don’t even remember.
“They were young, one of them, I can say at least two of them were minors, the third one, I am not sure, the older one who was driving, I wouldn’t be sure I cant say she older than 18, definitely, I will be surprised if she is over 18.
“The one had issues with her angle, well I am not sure, I am not a doctor, I wouldn’t be sure if it was a dislocation or what I am not sure, the other one was complaining of the knee and some scars on the head and I guess a concussion I am not sure because I then performed first on them but this is what I can tell you.
“When it happened there was, you know you can a smell that there is smoke here and any moment this thing….
“I can put at around 10 minutes
I can say this accident happened kuma to 5, lets put it at 20 to 5”

Young Warriors Disqualified From COSAFA Tournament- For Age Cheating

Zimbabwe have been disqualified from the COSAFA U17 Men’s Championship, currently underway in South Africa, for age cheating.

The Young Warriors had started the campaign on Thursday, playing in the tournament opener against Angola. They drew the match 1-1 and were scheduled to play South Africa on Saturday in the other Group A game before rounding-up the first round against Eswatini.

However, they will not be able to continue after Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) tests found that a couple of players in the squad have falsely presented their age.

Eswatini, Comoros and Botswana were also found guilty and have been sent home.

The disqualification means the Young Warriors are also out of the 2021 Africa Under-17 Cup of Nations scheduled for Morocco.

The COSAFA tournament is being used as the qualifying campaign for the continental event.

In confirming the developments, COSAFA said: “The Confederation of African Football (CAF) Youth Competitions Committee made the decision to disqualify the teams from the zonal qualifier tournament for the 2021 Africa Under-17 Cup of Nations on Friday.

“The quartet all had at least one player fail their magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans that were conducted in the Host Country prior to the start of the competition.”

Meanwhile, revised fixtures will start on Sunday as a four-team tournament and will be played on a round-robin basis, with the top two teams advancing to a final on November 29.

Ray Bande | Manicapost | BRANDED maize-meal from donor agencies meant for under-privileged members of the community is being sold at the prevailing retail price by unscrupulous shop owners across the province, The Manica Post has established.

Though USAID neither confirmed nor denied the sale of donated maize-meal, the organisation has since launched full-scale investigations into the matter after this publication sent questions on the matter.

“We will give a comprehensive comment after thorough investigations into the issue are concluded,” said Ms Dorothy Hove, the USAID Zimbabwe Development Outreach and Communication Specialist.

With visible donor agencies’ names and logos, the maize-meal is being displayed on shop shelves in Marange, Chimanimani, Buhera, Nyanga and Chipinge in broad daylight. In Chingome Village in Marange, a 10kg bag of maize-meal is going for US$5 at a shop inscribed ‘Bie’ that is said to be owned by one Mr Brian Kaisa.

When The Manica Post visited the area early this week, a female shopkeeper at the shop said she did not know the source of the maize-meal.

“My job is to sell the product and it costs US$5. That is all I can tell you and if you want to buy you can go ahead,” she said curtly and declined to be named.

Efforts to get a comment from Mr Kaisa

were fruitless as he was not at his shop, while his mobile phone was unreachable.

However, investigations by this publication revealed that unscrupulous shop owners are securing the commodity from corrupt elements within the conveyance chain.

Sources revealed that the well knit syndicate includes some corrupt Government officials and politicians.

A shop owner in Mashukashuka Village, Mr Luston Mutsaru, confirmed that he buys the commodity from “passersby who ferry the maize-meal in a minibus”.

“We have bought that maize-meal on a number of occasions. They sell it at US$3.70. We then sell it at US$4.50 per 10kg bag. I have never bothered to ask our suppliers about their identity because l am only concerned in conducting business.

“They actually tried calling me last nigh t(Wednesday), but I missed the call as I was asleep. I think they wanted to bring another consignment. They usually drop the maize-meal and come back to collect the money later,” said Mr Mutsaru.

Mr Joseph Dzvairo, a Mashukashuka villager, said the diversion of food aid from the less privileged to shop shelves has been going on for quite some time.

“We wonder why these people are so heartless,” said Mr Dzvairo.

Ms Abigail Sithole of Chingome Village in Marange said they are buying the donated maize-meal for US$5.

“That is the same price for other brands of maize-meal. We have seen various trucks delivering the commodity to the shops. Some of the vehicles are owned by known politicians,” she said.

Manicaland Province Development Coordinator, who also heads the provincial Civil Protection Unit, Mr Edgars Seenza, said he was not aware of the development.

“This is actually news to me. I have not received any report to that effect. I will assemble a team to investigate the matter and l will duly avail the details after getting on the ground,” said Mr Seenza.

Donor agencies have scaled up their intervention programmes in Zimbabwe following persistent droughts that have left some communities food insecure.

Zimbabwe is in the grip of a drought, aggravated by Cyclone ldai which hit parts of Manicaland and Masvingo provinces. The drought caused massive national crop failure, while the freak cyclone washed away remaining crops and livelihoods in the affected districts.

According to United Nations report, Zimbabwe’s food insecure population is expected to peak at just over 5 million, with 700 000 of them in Manicaland.

Priest “Reveals” Cause Of Genius Kadungure Death

Cervical Cancer Is Curable If Detected Early

By Jane Mlambo| Deputy Chief Secretary in the office of the president and cabinet, George Charamba has warned the late socialite, Moana’s father, Ishmael Amuli against being carried away saying sympathy he has been getting since the beginning of the feud with his ex-wife will soon vanish.

Charamba was commenting on a video in which Moana’s father accused Jah Prayzah of not consoling him over the loss of his daughter despite her daughter featuring in his video.

“The old man is beginning to get carried away; the less said, the more sympathy given!!!!” said Charamba.

The dispute over the body of Moana has stalled burial arrangements as both mother and father seek to have control over funeral programme.

Moana died in a car accident that has claimed Genius Kadungure popularly known as Ginimbi in social circles.

Digging Continues At Damofalls Home In Search Of Tapiwa Makore’s Head

Police on Thursday returned to Mr Thanks Makore’s residence in Damofalls and continued digging in search of the head of his nephew, Tapiwa Makore (Junior), who was the victim of a suspected ritual murder in Nyamutumbu Village, Murehwa, on September 17.

The body of Tapiwa Makore, who was aged seven, is still to be buried as his head is still missing, two months after the horrific murder.

The boy’s uncle, Tapiwa Makore (Senior) (57), is accused of murdering his brother’s child with the help of his herdsman, Tafadzwa Shamba.

Damofalls residents gathered from a distance as they awaited the outcome of the search which police confirmed ultimately yielded nothing.

Thanks Makore, an uncle to the late Tapiwa Makore (Junior), is jointly charged with his twin brother Tapiwa (Senior) for their nephew’s murder.

The two, together with three other suspects, are in remand prison pending the murder trial.

Some residents who spoke to The Herald said they were hoping that the head would be found to allow the body to be given a befitting burial.

“We remain optimistic. What happened to Tapiwa is wrong. Our prayers are that the head is found,” said on resident who declined to be named.

Another resident who also spoke on condition of anonymity said: “Police are making progress. I believe in our police officers and they are the best. It might take time but they will make a breakthrough. All that we want is for justice to prevail.”

To date police have so far secured the torso, legs and arms of Tapiwa with the majority of the body parts being recovered in the Murehwa area.

When The Herald visited Mr Thanks Makore’s residence on Thursday, police had cordoned off the house near Cream Shopping Centre in Ruwa to enable an uninterrupted search.

Police officers were still protecting the house from the rowdy residents. Journalists were again barred from entering the yard as was the case on Wednesday.

Man Loses US$45k In Fake Nostro Transfer Deal

A man was robbed of his US$48 000 in a fake Nostro transfer deal by two bogus police officers in the Avenues area, Harare.

The suspects, Nokhuthula Sadomba(27) and Patson Mudube (37) appeared before Harare magistrate Judith Taruvinga on Friday facing robbery charges.

They were remanded in custody to Monday for their bail application.

The robbery victim was looking for a transfer deal to swop his US dollars in cash for US dollars in his Nostro account.

It is alleged that the accomplices of the two accused approached the man pretending as if they had funds for a Nostro transfer and needed cash.

They allegedly accompanied the complainant to Avondale to do the transaction. After they had boarded the complainant’s vehicle to do the transaction, they were pounced on by Sadomba and Mudumbe.

The two identified themselves as police officers and told the complainant that he was under arrest for illegal dealing in foreign currency.

The victim was handcuffed and as they drove to “the police station”, around the Avenues, the robbers threatened the complainant before jumping into their getaway car and speeding off with the US$48 000 in cash.

“Ginimbi’s Posh US$500k Rolls Royce Was Not Insured”

By A Correspondent- The late socialite Genius “Ginimbi” Kadungure’s posh US$500 000 Rolls-Royce Wraith was not insured, police have said.

National police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi yesterday said Ginimbi’s vehicle had not been insured and did not have a Zimbabwe National Road Administration (Zinara) licence.

“Records obtained by the police in the on-going investigations into the fatal road traffic accident show that the vehicle had been registered through Central Vehicle Registry and obtained personalised number plates,” he said.

“The records also indicate that the vehicle had not been insured or obtained a Zinara licence. The police is still conducting investigations into the fatal road traffic accident.”

Ginimbi died in the horror car crash, which also claimed his friends fitness trainer-turnedvideo vixen Michelle “Mimi Moana” Amuli, Malawian fugitive Limumba Karim and Mozambican model and socialite Alichia Adams, two weeks ago. The accident occurred along Borrowdale Road in Harare in the early hours of November 8, when a speeding Ginimbi overtook two cars before ramming into Lucky Chikwanda’s car.

The Rolls-Royce Wraith skidded off the road and crashed into a tree before bursting into a ball of flames, and consuming all Ginimbi’s friends.

Ginimbi was last Saturday buried at his multimillion-dollar mansion in Domboshava at a funeral one could mistake for a party.

Now the driver of the Honda Fit involved in the accident with Ginimbi’s car, Lucky Chikwanda wants to claim damages. Lawyers say he is entitled to institute claims for damages that include his smashed vehicle and medical expenses. Chikwanda, who was left counting losses, told NewsDay Weekender Life & Style that he had paid his medical bills, but was worried about how he would get his damaged car back on the road again.

“Police are saying Ginimbi had no insurance and my car was on third part and not full cover,” he said.

“The car’s front was badly damaged, the engine splintered and buying a new car will be the best.”

Chikwanda said it was a miracle that he came out alive after the accident.

“I still cannot believe that I am alive, but God is amazing, He saved me. After seeing the damage done to the cars, I am still failing to convince myself that I am not a ghost,” he said.

“I was on my way from Hatcliffe when it (accident) took place and he (Ginimbi) was coming from the city centre trying to overtake two cars in front of him, but he failed to do it and by the time he tried to return to his lane, it was too late.”

“He (Ginimbi) was speeding and when I saw his car right in front of me, all I did was to scream. On impact, my car was forced to spin and face the direction we were coming from, while Ginimbi’s car went on to hit a tree about 20 to 30 meters away from the point of impact,” he said.

Chikwanda said on the fateful day, he was in the company of a friend, Artwell Kamisara, who sustained minor injuries. Respected lawyer and former Harare mayor Muchadeyi Masunda said at law, no one was a “lesser mortal” and under such circumstances, the victims’ rights should be observed.

“Needless to say, it is incumbent on society to bring to a long overdue end the almost endemic and mind boggling attitude, with total impunity, on the part of the so-called social and political celebrities, who behave as if the rights and/or lives of the supposedly lesser mortals don’t matter,” he said.

“The question of culpability in this case is likely to turn on which party will be found to have been negligent and, therefore, should bedeemed, on a balance of probabilities, to have been the proximate cause of the road traffic accident.”

Masunda said the law requires drivers to exercise reasonable care when encountering anyone while they are on the road be they pedestrians as well as passengers or fellow motorists.

“The prima facie indications are that unless there is compelling evidence to the contrary, the proximate cause of the road traffic accident could have been the late Genius Kadungure in that he: drove his Rolls Royce at an excessive speed in the circumstances, failed to keep a proper lookout, drove without due care and attention, failed to stop his motor vehicle when an accident seemed imminent,” he said, adding that in the aftermath of the recent carnage that “needlessly” cost the lives of the four, there was need to “spare a thought” for the Honda Fit driver. Masunda said he was prepared to give legal advice to Chikwanda.

“He was an innocent and bona fide road user whose life was changed forever in just a split second. He definitely needs to be helped legally with regard to the damage caused to his car, the medical expenses which he incurred as a result of the injuries that he sustained, the necessary post-trauma counselling therapy together with the related costs,” he said.

Live Video Of Ginimbi Being Trapped.

Showbiz Reporter| The below video is of the late Businesman Genius Kadungure when he was lured by someone he thought was a young girl only to discover that “she” is a young man. The trick is usually used by law enforcement agents in Europe to trap paedophiles, and many are languishing in prison cells over this.

This was not the first time of such happening. In another engagement, he flirted with a well known young Zimbabwean teenager who is based in the United Kingdom, and the latter is heard on video screaming that she is scared her father will discover.

In the above video he gets the shock of his life when when the “young woman” changes voice into “her” real one while screaming for his mama!

The incident happened in December 2019.

Over 3k More Graduate Into Unemployment?

By A Correspondent- President Mnangagwa yesterday capped 3 507 graduates at Midlands State University (MSU)’s 21st graduation ceremony held at its main campus in Gweru.

Due to Covid-19-induced restrictions, 3 397 had their degrees and awards conferred virtually and 110 physically.

A total of 2 670 graduated with Bachelor’s degrees, 837 with Master’s degrees and 11 with Doctor of Philosophy degrees.

Presenting the graduands to the President, who is also the Chancellor of the University, MSU Vice Chancellor Professor Victor Muzvidziwa said 51,8 percent of the graduands were females.

“Your Excellency and Chancellor, we are presenting to you a total of 3 507 graduands, 51,8 percent of whom are females and 48,2 percent are males. Of these, 2 670 are graduating with Bachelor’s degrees and 837 with Master’s degrees. A total of 11 will today graduate with Doctor of Philosophy degrees. Your Excellency and Chancellor, against the Covid-19 background, 3 397 will have their degrees and awards conferred virtually and 110 are physically here today,” he said.

Prof Muzvidziwa said the university’s international student community was highly diversified with 13 nationalities representing Botswana, Cameroon, China, DRC, Eswatini, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, South Sudan, Tanzania, UK and Zambia.

“Sixteen international students are graduating today. Nine of them are South Sudanese and seven are from Eswatini,” he said.

Prof Muzvidziwa said he was happy to report a 100 percent Covid-19 free on the part of their international students who have been able to continue with their studies.

He said despite the disruptions caused by Covid -19, they managed to teach, research, innovate and learn to be social and human in a virtual world.

“We were able to carry on with our research and teaching using digital methodologies, we taught in google classrooms. We have forged ahead by redefining and shaping this moment. In fact, the Covid-19 pandemic has leap-frogged us into the ICT-driven world. We have realised that a significant part of our work can now be done virtually,” he said.

Prof Muzvidziwa said the university was moving away from churning out academic professionals to more practical and innovative graduates in line with the expectations of the Second Republic.

He said MSU has been awarded by the African Regional Intellectual Property Organisation (Aripo), a patent titled “Method for Coal Tar Modification Using Nano Particles for Road Surfacing”.

“We celebrate a truly groundbreaking modified coal tar technology that will immensely impact road infrastructure construction and has potential to be commercially successful. This invention by Mr Actor Zonde, Dr Gift Mehlana, Dr Tafadzwa Wendy Murinzi and Dr Upenyu Guyo is a new method of producing a tar product with enhanced mechanical and thermal properties recommended for use in the sub-Saharan climate. This patent now awaits commercial exploitation,” he said.

Prof Muzvidziwa said three utility models filed with Aripo are at an advanced stage of examination.

He said the university has a thriving industrial hub which was mass producing face masks and certified hand sanitisers for the market as the institution takes a leading role in the fight against the spread of Covid-19 pandemic.

“When Covid-19 struck, MSU rose to the challenge in many ways, Covid -19 drove a national demand for cleaning and sanitisation chemicals. With the seed capital from the Government, we set up a sanitiser production plant and repurposed our garment making factory to start producing masks. Our sanitiser is certified by the Standards Association of Zimbabwe and we have contributed to ensuring that there is no shortage in the supply chain. The sanitiser project has been a catalyst in our innovation and industrialisation ecosystem,” he said.

Prof Muzvidziwa said the university has also partnered various international universities in conducting research in line with the modern demands.

“Your Excellency and Chancellor, I am glad to report that MSU is collaborating with Kumba LLC of New Mexico, USA. The collaboration enables research and development of cannabis products for medical treatments such as cancer, pain alleviation and eating disorders among others,” he said.

Meanwhile, President Mnangagwa who had a busy day in Gweru, commissioned a textile factory at MSU Industrial Park Complex in the heavy Industrial area after the graduation ceremony.

The Industrial Park has been central in the manufacturing of personal protective equipment (PPE) for health workers in the province.

The President also commissioned a million-dollar state-of-the art new lecture complex built by the University at the Commercial block at TelOne Campus named after the former and late Midlands provincial Governor and national hero Cde Cephas Msipa.

Education, Science and Technology Development Minister, Professor Amon Murwira and State Security Minister, Owen Ncube were among senior Government officials who were accompanying the President.

The Late Robert Mugabe To Square Off With Ex General Manager Stanley Nhari

By A Correspondent- The late former President Robert Mugabe is posthumously set to square off with his ex-general manager, Stanley Nhari, after the Supreme Court rolled the matter back to the High Court for the issue of the $588 000 delictual damages to be resolved.

The Supreme Court bench led by Justice Paddington Garwe partially upheld Nhari’s appeal saying the high Court was correct in declining jurisdiction of a labour matter but erred when it entirely dismissed Nhari’s claim without taking into consideration the issue of delictual damages.

Initially, Nhari had approached the High Court claiming $756 401 in terminal benefits and damages but his claim was dismissed, prompting him to approach the Supreme Court on appeal.

The Supreme Court said part of Nhari’s claim borders on labour issues and as such the High Court would not have dealt with such matters.

“Section 13 of the Labour Act makes it clear that whenever any person’s employment is terminated, such person shall be entitled to the wages and benefits due to him up to the time of such termination, including benefits with respect to outstanding vacation and notice period.

“An employer shall pay such benefits as soon as is reasonably practical and failure to do so shall constitute unfair labour practice,” the court ruled.

“The first three claims were matters that should have been handled by a labour officer in terms of section 93.

“Clearly the high Court was correct in holding that it had no jurisdiction to deal with these three claims. It was however wrong, in upholding the plea in bar in respect of the last claim.

“I am inclined to agree with the appellant (Stanley Nhari) that the order dismissing the claim was, in the circumstances, improper. The court had found that it had no jurisdiction to entertain the claims because such claims lay in the province of labour.

“having so determined there was, therefore, nothing that remained before the court. There was nothing further to dismiss,” the judge said, adding; “the claim of $588 000 delictual damages is remitted to the court aquo to be handled in terms of the rules of that court.”

Sometime in 2018, Nhari, who is being represented by Advocate Thabani Mpofu, took the former First Family to court accusing it of breaching terms of his employment contract together with their business, Gushungo holdings (Pvt) Ltd.

In his claim, Nhari said the exPresident and his wife, Grace, used illegitimate influence and force to relinquish his position in October 2015 before ordering him to continue working for no outlay until November of the same year.

This then prompted Nhari to sue the Mugabes for allegedly “breaching the terms governing the relationship between the parties, by use of illegitimate influence, force and might”.

But, when the matter was brought before Justice Benjamin Chikowero, the latter determined that the lawsuit was not in any way a case to be adjudicated by the High Court.

20 Soldiers From Presidential Guard Test Positive To COVID-19: Report

By A Correspondent- Nearly 20 soldiers from the Presidential Guard Brigade, including some that were deployed to President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s motorcade, reportedly tested positive for coronavirus last month.

The positive cases were detected a few days before the arrival of the President’s visiting Malawian counterpart Lazarus Chakwera.

According to The NewsHawks, soldiers from the 1 Presidential Guard Barracks, which is located next to State House along the Josiah Chinamano Avenue in Harare, last month tested positive for the coronavirus.

This prompted their commanders to deploy security personnel from 2 Presidential Guard Barracks in Dzivaresekwa. The NewsHawks reported a source from the Health ministry saying:

Some officers who form part of the team, including the dreaded rifle-wielding soldiers in the Land Cruisers, tested positive. This posed a big risk to everyone on the motorcade. To deal with the situation, 2PG (2 Presidential Guard) had to provide security.

Coronavirus cases have reportedly been detected at the Robert Gabriel Mugabe School of Intelligence in Msasa Park, Harare, where over 50 security service personnel tested positive.

“Either We Organise Or Agonise. The Coup Was Not About Us Simple!”

By Nomusa Garikai- Three years ago at 04.00 hours local time on 15th November 2017 Zimbabwe Defence Force (ZDF) spokesman, Major General Sibusiso Moyo, addressed the nation and the world at large, live on Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation Television.

“Fellow Zimbabweans, following the address we made on 13 November 2017 which we believe our main broadcaster, ZBC and The Herald, were directed not to publicise, the situation in our country has moved to another level,” he announced.

“Firstly, we wish to assure the nation that His Excellency, The President, of the Republic of Zimbabwe, Head of State and Government and Commander in Chief of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces, Cde R.G Mugabe and his family are safe and sound and their security is guaranteed. We are only targeting criminals around him who are committing crimes that are causing social and economic suffering in the country in order to bring them to justice. As soon as we have accomplished our mission we expect that the situation will return to normalcy.

“To both our people and the world beyond our borders: We wish to make it abundantly clear that this is not a military takeover of Government. What the Zimbabwe Defence Forces is doing is to pacify a degenerating political, social and economic situation in our country which if not addressed may result in violent conflict.”

Fast forward to today, three years latter, it is common cause to say the “degenerating political, social and economic situation” has continued and the threat of social unrest or worse is as real now as it was in 2017. A situation that has not gone unnoticed by some of those like former ministers Professor Jonathan Moyo, Saviour Kasukuwere, etc. G40 leaders, the targeted “criminal around Mugabe who are committing crimes”. The G40 leaders are answering back with growing confidence.

“Either we organise or we agonise. If we continue looking at the situation as it is and expect that on its own, it will resolve itself, I think that won’t just happen like that,” argued Kasukuwere in a public discussion dubbed “Operation Restore Legacy, Unpacking the Democratic Transition in Zimbabwe”.

“The situation we find ourselves in as Zimbabwe is not the first time in the world over or in Africa.

“You recall we had such a situation in Nigeria. There was serious persecution of journalists, politicians and this all has to do with the role of the military at any given point when they take on the political platform and basically try to start directing the political affairs of any given country.

“In our situation, in Zimbabwe, we appear like we are in a political cul-de-sac. There is no defined pathway on how to proceed… Let’s take up the battle straight to the administration each and every day they must start to understand that the pain in our society is now unattainable.

“I believe the collective aspiration of the people of Zimbabwe will be much greater a force than any other thing that we have. Whether there are guns, whether they arrest us.

What is lacking in my view is a concerted push to change our situation.”

Three years ago the people of Zimbabwe came out in strong support of the military coup and poured in the streets in their thousands to demonstrate their support. After 37 years of Mugabe rule they wanted “to give Mnangagwa a chance”.

Now, three years latter, the talk is “Mugabe was better than Mnangagwa”! Kasukuwere and company are growing confident of staging a political comeback in the coming elections in 2023.

The truth is the November 2017 military coup was nothing but a musical chairs, Mugabe and a few around him were eliminated but those who remained were just as corrupt, incompetent, tyrannical, etc. All talk of “Second Republic and New Dispensation” was just a marketing gimmick to give the impression Zimbabwe had changed when in reality nothing of substance had changed.

Kasukuwere et al have targeted the military as the root cause of the rot in Zimbabwe just as the November 2017 coup had targeted his and his colleagues, most of whom are now in exile. This is just nonsense because the military has always played a major role in Zimbabwe politics. We have all heard of the Joint Operation Command, a junta, comprising the top brass in the Police, CIO, Army and Prison Services plus a few select individuals from the party head by Mugabe with Mnangagwa as his deputy.

The Police and CIO’s top brass belonged to the Mugabe and G40 faction whilst the Army belonged to the Mnangagwa and Lacoste faction. Former Police Commissioner Augustine Chihuru played no part in the coup and in being hounded because he was in “the wrong basket”, as Mugabe would put it.

Mnangagwa offered musical chairs Zanu PF, Kasukuwere et al are offering revolved door Zanu PF. Those who are now supporting Kasukuwere are as naive and gullible as those who supported Mnangagwa three years go. There is no difference between Mnangagwa and Kasukuwere in so far as that both are corrupt, incompetent, vote rigging and power hungry thugs. There is no difference between a viper and a cobra in being deadly snakes especially to a mouse; to these Zanu PF thugs we are mice!

ED Effects Coup Proofing Strategy

President Emmerson Mnangagwa has made several “forced” changes to his Presidential Guard (PG) Brigade in a move analysts view as a coup-proofing strategy.

The PG’s second-in-command, Colonel David Nyasha, was recently replaced by Mnangagwa’s former aide-de-camp, Never-Jones Makuyana, while Nyasha is understood to have been posted to army headquarters.

The NewsHawks cited security sources saying Nyasha opted out of the yellow beret unit after he clashed with his superior, Brigadier-General Fidelis Mhonda.

Makuyana, who at the time was a lieutenant-colonel, was deployed to army headquarters after Mnangagwa changed his security team in the aftermath of the White City Stadium explosion in Bulawayo in 2018.

The suspected grenade attack claimed the lives of some security personnel and injured several high-ranking government officials and Makuyana, who is now PG second-in-commander, survived without a scratch but had his service pistol damaged by shrapnel.

Mhonda replaced Anselem Sanyatwe, who was briefly promoted to Major-General before being posted to diplomatic service in Tanzania.

The former officer commanding 1 Presidential Guard, Samson Murombo, who later became one of Mnangagwa’s aides-de-camp, was deployed to the Nyanga-based All Arms Battle School.

This came after he clashed with Auxillia Mnangagwa, the President’s wife, who accused him of spying on him.

Lt-Col Mangezi took over as 1PG commander, while Lt-Col Arison Chicha took the reigns at 2PG.

Before taking charge of 1 Presidential Guard Battalion, which is next to Mnangagwa’s official residence, Murombo was in charge of 2 Presidential Guard in Dzivaresekwa.

The PG is responsible for providing protection to the President and his deputies and securing Harare district.

It is a force trained to fight in built-up areas such as cities and towns.

The unit is also part of Mnangagwa’s forceful presidential motorcade.

In November 2017, the unit played a major role during coup codenamed Operation Restore Legacy.

On August 2018, it crushed election-related protests in central Harare, killing 6 civilians and injuring dozens.

Mnangagwa’s Straighjacket Has No Wriggle Room, Especially Now Coups Are Legal. Off With His Head With Crown Upon It

By Wilbert Mukori- “Zanu-PF has a constitution and under that constitution, we sit as a congress to elect our president,” said Zanu PF acting national spokes-person Patrick Chinamasa.

“In 1977, a lot of the leaders had fallen by the wayside. The most senior person in rank remaining was (the late) Cde Robert Mugabe and at the congress in Chimoio, he was elected president of Zanu then,” Chinamasa said.

“In November (2017), exactly on the basis of the precedence of 1977, exactly that is what happened when it became very clear that our constitution was being trampled upon by the G40 cabal and that they were threatening the stability of the nation, the party moved in and we elected, at our December congress, President (Emmerson) Mnangagwa as leader of Zanu-PF.”

Zanu PF is a party of ruthless thugs with no regard to rule of law and the constitution much less the truth, not even historic facts.

Zanu PF is a party of ruthless thugs whose greed for absolute power and wealth is insatiable. They have ridden roughshod over the ordinary people denying them their freedoms and rights including the right to a meaningful elections and even the right to life.

Mugabe was able to hold the party together for the first 30 years after independence only because there was a lot of wealth, loot he then dolled out to the party leaders to feed their ever growing appetites. The power and loot was the glue that held Zanu PF together.

The Zanu PF thugs’ are corrupt, incompetent and wasteful and with time their appetites for loot grew exponentially, by the late 1990s the Zimbabwe economy was in serious trouble.

Mugabe seized white-owned farms, the only other asset of value left, to give his very demanding and wasteful cronies. The farm seizures resulted in the collapse of the agricultural sector and with it the economy.

To make matters worse, Zanu PF started printing money fuelling the hyperinflation which, by 2008, reached the nauseating heights of 500 billion percent! Zimbabwe’s economy completely collapsed, and has never ever recovered; trigging the dog-eat-dog for the scraps amongst the Zanu PF thugs.

Chinamasa contradicted his early claim that Zanu PF an orderly party that respected the rule of law and the constitution. Mnangagwa’s 2017 succession was not a smooth transition but a messy and ruthless affair culminating in the bloody November 2017 military coup.

“Behind the scenes, a lot took place, but it is too early to say. The further from November 2017, the more likely we are going to tell you,” confessed Chinamasa.

“We are yet to heal. Those were the worst ever days in the chapter of the life of our President, Cde ED Mnangagwa, worse than the hanging sentence because then, it was the enemy he had chosen to fight against notwithstanding any consequences.”

Mnangagwa’s clarion cry following the November 2017 coup was “Zimbabwe is open for business!” He was cocksure it would revive the economy generating the much need loot to doll out to his restless Zanu PF cronies. The expected flood of investors and lenders in answer to his call has never materialised. “Zimbabwe is open for business!” is dead in the water and Zimbabwe’s economic meltdown is even worse than before the coup.

Chimanasa said the succession in Zanu-PF was a straitjacket and while it allowed everyone to manoeuvre “within the straitjacket, no one could manoeuvre outside it”.

Mnangagwa knows that his position as leader of Zanu PF and government is not secure. He is reportedly building a bunker complex, such is his fear of another military coup. In the November 2017 coup Mugabe lost the crown, that is as much wriggle room as he got!  Mnangagwa may got get even that much wriggle room in the straitjacket he is wearing; he may well lose his head and the crown upon it!

Mnangagwa got Justice George Chiweshe to rule the November 2017 coup “was legal, justified and constitutional”. The judgement has comeback to haunt him. Everyone knows that Zanu PF party elections are rigged and that leaves a military coup as the short cut to power and glory, particularly now there is a legal precedence too.

As for the ordinary people, there really is no wriggle room, full stop. Zanu PF thugs have become addicted to the absolute power and the loot it has brought them over the last four decades. It is bad enough they are not having their fill because of the economic meltdown; they are not going to risk losing the scraps too by risking losing power in a free, fair and credible elections. No way!

When Mnangagwa got into power following the November 2017 military coup, he promised, amongst many other things, to hold free, fair and credible elections. He did not implement even one token democratic reform. Not one!

Whilst everyone who observed Zimbabwe’s July 2018 elections condemn the election as a farce. “The electoral commission lacked full independence and appeared to not always act in an impartial manner. The final results as announced by the Electoral Commission contained numerous errors and lacked adequate traceability, transparency and verifiability,” stated the EU Observer Mission final report.

“As such, many aspects of the 2018 elections in Zimbabwe failed to meet international standards.”

Indeed, it was impossible to trace and verify anything given ZEC failed to produce something as basic as a verified voters’ roll;  a legal and common sense requirement. Why all Zimbabwe’s opposition parties, all 130 of them, participated in the July 2018 elections knowing fully well that Zanu PF was rigging the elections is only a mystery to those who do not know just know corrupt and incompetent MDC leaders are.

During the 2008 to 2013 GNU Zimbabwe had the golden opportunity to implement the democratic reforms which, implemented, would have ended the curse of rigged elections and bad governance once and once for all.

The task of implementing the reforms fall to Morgan Tsvangirai and his fellow MDC leaders. They failed to implement even one token reform because Mugabe bribed them with the trappings of high office, the ministerial limos, the generous salaries, the US$ 4 million mansion for Tsvangirai, etc. The MDC leaders had the snout in the feeding trough and forgot about the reforms for next five years!

Ever since the failure to implement the reforms MDC and the rest of the opposition camp have participated in the elections knowing fully well with no reforms Zanu PF would rig the elections. They did so because they also knew that Zanu PF was giving away a few gravy train seats, bait, to entice the opposition to participate regardless. It has worked!

Nelson Chamisa has been making the usual noise, demanding the implementation of “comprehensive reforms to end the culture of disputed elections”! Zanu PF know when push comes to shove, Chamisa and his MDC A friends will be filing their nomination papers even with no verified voters’ roll!

“As far as we are concerned 2023 election is a forgone conclusion. In fact it is over before the people have vote.” Chinamasa declared with the confidence of one who knows exactly what he talking about. Confidence born out of 40 years of rightly predicting a landslide Zanu PF election victory every time without failure.

Mugabe survived as Zanu PF top dog and head of state for 37 years because he had loot to buy blind loyalty and could bend and even break the party rules to suit his selfish megalomania needs. The country’s economic meltdown changed all that; without the loot down payment blind loyalty evaporated like the morning mist under the African sun.

Mnangagwa has no loot with which to buy blind loyalty and so his hold on power is tenuous the more so that military coup is now “legal, justified and constitutional!”

Anyone outside of Zanu PF cannot aspire to govern Zimbabwe, as long as Zanu PF retains the carte blanche dictatorial powers to rig elections, thanks to MDC leaders who have all but sold-out on the fight for free, fair and credible election.

Zanu PF is a party of corrupt, incompetent and murderous thugs. Zimbabwe’s economy under Zanu PF stewardship was doomed to collapse because no economy can sustain for long the criminal waste of human and material resources; 40 years of Zanu PF misrule has left the Zimbabwe economy in ruins.

Zanu PF itself was doomed to implode. With the economy in meltdown, Zanu PF thugs were going to fight each other to the death over the scraps; the centre will not hold and the party will implode.

Zanu PF is sinking into the abyss under it own dead weight. But as long as Zanu PF remain in power, the governing party, the party will drag the whole nation into the abyss with it. It is for the people to end Zanu PF’s strangle hold on the nation or suffer and dead the consequence of continue Zanu PF tyrannical rule.

The people can end Zanu PF rule by demanding the implementation of the democratic reforms to ensure the next elections are free, fair and credible. Just because MDC leaders have sold-out on free and fair elections does not mean we too must throw in the towel!
