Sikhala Pleads With Zimbabweans Over State Onslaught Against Opposition Activists

Former Zengeza West legislator Job Sikhala has pleaded with Zimbabweans to make noise about incarcerated opposition activists and pro-democracy campaigners saying the country was under siege from the Zanu PF regime.

Posting on X, Sikhala said Zimbabweans can help by tweeting to demand their release from pre-trial incarceration.

Below is Sikhala’s message;

Plea to every Zimbabwean of good moral standing:We might be preoccupied with our daily challenges and commitments as individuals, but I come before you with humility and a heavy heart.

Our nation is under siege from a criminal regime that is crushing every dissenting voice. Since the arrest of Jameson Timba and the Avondale 78, there has been escalation of repression throughout the country against all political, social, and human rights activists.

An operation to hunt down all known opposition activists throughout the country has been put in motion. No province, district, or ward is going to be spared without being persecuted because of @SADC_News Summit that will be held in two weeks’ time.

I plead to men and women whose conscience despises evil to spare some few minutes daily to twit about the plight of our brothers and sisters who are fighting for the good of our nation who are currently under lock and key, that is, Jameson Timba and 78 others, Robson Chere, Namatai Kwekweza, Vusi Moyo. Jacob Ngarivhume and others. Just a twit demanding their release and lamentation against the injustices and persecution that has visited our nation.

History will remember you, that you were not silent on the face of the injustice we are facing collectively as a nation. I thank you my brothers and sisters!!!

The total value defrauded was USD1 816 000 and nothing was recovered.

Foreigner Arrested for Possession Of Bedroom Toy

In a controversial move highlighting Zimbabwe’s stringent censorship laws, the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) in Masvingo arrested two foreign tourists yesterday. The charges stem from the possession of a sex toy and complaints about water shortages and power outages, actions deemed “indecent” and harmful to public morals under the country’s “censorship and entertainments control” law.

Lucas Slavik from the Czech Republic faces charges of spreading falsehoods, while Tom Ssekamwa from Uganda is accused of possessing pornographic material after a sex toy was found in his bag. Both were brought before the Masvingo Magistrates Court today, which was notably packed with senior police officers and CIO operatives.

Despite defense lawyer Knowledge Mabvure of Chihambwakwe Law Chambers arguing that the law on falsehoods had been repealed years ago, Magistrate Madzingo remanded the two men in prison until Monday. The State, represented by Makoni, contends that Slavik’s actions disrupted public order.

The Mirror reports that the Czech Republic Embassy is making urgent efforts to secure Slavik’s release. Police have confiscated the tourists’ laptops, cameras, passports, cash, and bags.

The incident began when Slavik, staying at Back Packers Lodge in Masvingo, was disturbed by noise from mourners outside. Upon investigating and recording the scene, he commented on the lack of water and electricity, and the rising prices in Zimbabwe. This video led to his arrest for allegedly spreading falsehoods. Ironically, during the court proceedings, the power outage in the courtroom drew laughter when Mabvure queried if stating the court had no electricity constituted a falsehood.

Following Slavik’s arrest, police discovered a sex toy in Ssekamwa’s bag at the lodge, leading to his arrest under laws that classify such items as “indecent” and “obscene.”

This case underscores the harsh realities of Zimbabwe’s censorship laws, where owning a sex toy can result in imprisonment, reflecting the stringent measures imposed to maintain public morals.- Agencies

Is ED About To Drop Dead? Why Are ZANU Provinces Stampeding To Endorse Him?

Dangers of Unanimous Political Endorsement

By Dorrothy Moyo | ZimEye | In any democratic society, the health and vibrancy of the political landscape depend on a diverse range of opinions and the open debate of ideas. However, when an entire community converges to uncritically endorse a single politician as if they are the sole thinker or savior, several significant dangers can arise:

  1. Erosion of Democratic Principles: Democracy thrives on diversity of thought and competition of ideas. When a single politician is universally endorsed, it can stifle dissent, marginalize minority opinions, and undermine the democratic process that relies on checks and balances.
  2. Cult of Personality: Elevating a politician to a near-messianic status can lead to the formation of a cult of personality. This phenomenon can cloud public judgment, making it difficult for citizens to critically evaluate the politician’s policies and actions. It can also lead to an environment where the politician is above criticism, which is dangerous for accountability.
  3. Suppression of Opposing Views: A society that rallies entirely behind one political figure often discourages or outright suppresses opposing views. This can lead to censorship, self-censorship, and a lack of open discourse, which are critical for a healthy democracy.
  4. Risk of Authoritarianism: Unquestioned support for a single politician can pave the way for authoritarianism. When one leader is perceived as infallible, they may be tempted to consolidate power, bypass democratic institutions, and erode civil liberties.
  5. Polarization and Division: While unanimity might seem like a sign of unity, it can actually deepen divisions within a society. Those who disagree may feel alienated and marginalized, leading to social fragmentation and increased polarization.
  6. Stifling Innovation and Progress: A single perspective dominating political discourse can hinder innovation and progress. Diverse viewpoints and healthy debate are essential for addressing complex societal issues and finding effective solutions.
  7. Economic and Social Instability: The concentration of political power in one individual can lead to decisions that are not in the best interest of the broader society. This can result in economic mismanagement, social unrest, and instability.
  8. Loss of Trust in Institutions: When the populace places its faith entirely in a single politician, it can undermine trust in democratic institutions such as the judiciary, the press, and the legislature. This can weaken the very foundations of governance and the rule of law.

While strong leadership is important, it is equally crucial to maintain a balanced and critical perspective. Citizens should be
to engage in open dialogue, question their leaders, and support a plurality of voices within the political landscape. By fostering an environment where multiple viewpoints can coexist and be debated, societies can safeguard their democratic values and ensure sustainable and inclusive progress.

Active civic participation, education, and a free press are vital components in preventing the concentration of power and maintaining a healthy democracy. Citizens must be vigilant and proactive in demanding transparency and accountability from their leaders. Encouraging a culture of critical thinking and respect for differing opinions will help to prevent the dangers associated with the unanimous endorsement of a single political figure.

Ultimately, the strength of a democracy lies in its ability to embrace diversity, encourage debate, and remain resilient in the face of challenges. By recognizing and addressing the potential dangers of unanimous political endorsement, society can protect its democratic principles and promote a more just and equitable future for all.

Mnangagwa Doomed

Zimbabwean opposition leader Nelson Chamisa has forecasted the end of President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s regime.

Chamisa, known for his eloquent and poetic style, addressed his political rival in a statement on Saturday.

Drawing from biblical imagery, Chamisa remarked, “THE TEMPORARINESS OF ALL WICKEDNESS… I have seen the wicked in great power, and spreading himself like a native green tree. Yet he passed away, and behold, he was no more; indeed I sought him, but he could not be found.”

He referenced Psalm 37:35-36 to emphasize his belief that no power, however formidable, is permanent. Chamisa concluded with a message of hope, “Sabbath blessings!”

Mnangagwa Performs Duties Of A Ward Councillor

By A Correspondent

Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa has proudly announced the reconstruction of the Holy Cross Dam in Chirumanzu, a project he claims as a significant achievement of his administration.

The dam, which had collapsed in 2007, was officially recommissioned on Friday.

In his statement, Mnangagwa highlighted the importance of the dam, stating, “Today, I had the honour of commissioning the rebuilt Holy Cross Dam in Chirumanzu District.

This vital infrastructure has been reconstructed to benefit our community by providing water for irrigation, drinking, and agriculture.”

Mnangagwa positioned this project within the broader context of his Vision 2030, underscoring its role in improving food security and stimulating economic activities.

The dam is expected to support local schools, a hospital, and businesses, contributing to regional development.

Despite the President’s enthusiastic endorsement, some observers argue that commissioning such a project is a task that could be handled at a local government level, such as by a Councillor.

Nonetheless, Mnangagwa’s announcement reflects his ongoing commitment to infrastructure development and his vision for a prosperous Zimbabwe.

Mnangagwa Apologist Says Kalimbwe Is A Nobody In Zambia

By Taurai Kandishaya

I’m currently in Zambia, celebrating President ED Mnangagwa’s new role as SADC chairman.

The excitement here is truly amazing, and I’ve had the chance to discuss this landmark event on two of Zambia’s major TV stations, Muvi TV and Diamond TV. Both channels have done a fantastic job capturing the enthusiasm and joy of this moment.

While here, I’ve discovered something interesting.

Joseph Kalimbwe, who has been making bold claims about his influence, is actually not known in Zambia. After talking with journalists from major media outlets, it’s clear that ‘no one here knows him’.

His supposed influence appears to be a fabrication by some groups in Zimbabwe, pushing their own agendas.

One such agenda is the suggestion to move the SADC Summit from Zimbabwe; an idea that reflects a schoolboy’s understanding of diplomacy.

This suggestion not only reveals a lack of basic diplomatic knowledge but also raises a red flag about the credibility of those behind it. Many Zambians find this proposal both surprising and amusing!

For Zimbabweans, it’s essential to realize that engaging with Joseph Kalimbwe does not translate to engaging Zambians.

His opinions do not reflect the sentiments of the Zambian people. Given this situation, it’s important to set the record straight.

I challenge Kalimbwe to a public debate here in Zambia. Let’s clarify the facts and address any misinformation.

CIO Rounds Up Foreigners In Masvingo

By Political Reporter- State security agents in Masvingo last week rounded up two foreign nationals and arrested them from their lodgings.

One of the foreigners had complained about water shortages and load shedding in the town.

Lucas Slavik, a national from the Czech Republic, and Tom Ssekamwa from Uganda were charged with spreading falsehoods and possessing pornographic material, respectively.

The two appeared in a packed courtroom at Masvingo Magistrates on Friday, attended by senior police officers and CIO operatives.

Despite their lawyer, Knowledge Mabvure of Chihambwakwe Law Chambers, arguing that the law pertaining to falsehoods had been repealed years ago, Magistrate Madzingo remanded them in custody until Monday.

Makoni stood in for the State.

The Mirror understands that the Czech Republic Embassy is making frantic efforts to secure the release of its citizen.

Police confiscated the men’s laptops, cameras, a sex toy, passports, cash, and bags.

According to the State, Slavik, who was staying at Back Packers Lodge in Masvingo, was disturbed by riotous noise outside.

Upon investigating, he discovered it was a group of mourners whose relative had been run over by a vehicle.

Slavik began recording a video in which he stated that Zimbabwe lacks water and electricity and that prices are rising.

Police officers saw and arrested him, charging him with spreading falsehoods based on the recording.

Ironically, the courtroom where Slavik appeared had no power, leading his lawyer to ask the magistrate, “Would it be a falsehood if he says there is no electricity in court?”—prompting laughter from the courtroom.

Mabvure also informed the magistrate that Masvingo had been without water for several days and electricity for 12 hours.

After arresting Slavik, police went to the lodge and found a sex toy in Ssekamwa’s bag, leading to his arrest.

Zim Farmer Attacked For Buying A Bull For R8 Million

South Africa – The purchase of a bull for R8 million by a Zimbabwean farmer, Collins Tafireyi, has raised several critical questions and concerns, especially considering the struggling economy of Zimbabwe.

The sheer amount of money spent on a single bull seems extravagant and potentially imprudent.

Tafireyi made headlines over the weekend by purchasing a bull in South Africa for a staggering R8 million (US$444,000).

Tafireyi broke the auction record at the Hurwitz Farming Production Auction by acquiring a remarkable Boran Stud bull, Lot 10 Cyclone, for an unprecedented price.

The auction took place at Bull Ring Auction House and drew widespread attention within the cattle breeding community.

Tafireyi, a Boran breeder from Sinyo Boran Stud in Hwedza, Mashonaland East province, Zimbabwe, outbid his friend and neighbor, Rogers Sithole of Black Ox Farming, in a fiercely contested bidding war.

This record-setting acquisition marks a significant milestone for Tafireyi, who is only three years into the specialized cattle breeding business.

“This is not about the price; it’s about getting what I want,” Tafireyi said. “I’m building the biggest and best brands in Africa. Cyclone really caught my eye six months ago, and when he became available, I was determined to get him at any cost.”
While Tafireyi’s determination and ambition are evident, his purchase has raised several critical questions and concerns:

In a country where many citizens struggle to meet basic needs, such an extravagant expenditure on a bull appears disconnected from the economic realities faced by the majority.

This disparity can provoke public discontent and raise questions about the sources of such wealth.

The origin of the funds used for this purchase warrants scrutiny.

In a nation with prevalent economic challenges, the ability to spend US$444,000 on a bull could suggest access to substantial and potentially questionable financial resources.

While Tafireyi emphasizes the importance of genetics and future potential, the immediate tangible benefits of such an investment are not clear.

The long-term gains from improved genetics must be critically evaluated against the immediate financial outlay, especially in a volatile economic environment.

This high-profile purchase may affect public perception of the agricultural sector and the individual involved.

It could either inspire other breeders to invest similarly in high-quality genetics or provoke backlash against perceived elitism and misallocation of resources.

While the acquisition of Cyclone may signify a strategic investment in the future of cattle breeding in Zimbabwe, it also raises critical questions about economic priorities, financial transparency, and the broader implications of such an expenditure in a struggling economy.

Tafireyi’s bold move underscores the complexities and contradictions inherent in investing large sums in specialized livestock breeding amid widespread economic hardship.

Another Wicknell Chivhayo Style As Zim Farmer Buys A Bull For US$500 000 In SA

By Business Reporter | Davel, Mpumalanga, South Africa– Zimbabweans have questioned the logic behind the purchase of a bull in South Africa for a staggering R8 million (US$444,000 by Zimbabwean cattle rancher Collins Tafireyi.

Tafireyi broke the auction record at the weekend by purchasing a remarkable Boran Stud bull, Lot 10 Cyclone, for an unprecedented ).

The Hurwitz Farming Production Auction took place at Bull Ring Auction House.

Tafireyi, a Boran breeder from Sinyo Boran Stud in Hwedza, Mashonaland East province, Zimbabwe, outbid his friend and neighbor, Rogers Sithole of Black Ox Farming, in a fiercely contested bidding war. “This is not about the price; it’s about getting what I want,” said Tafireyi. “I’m building the biggest and best brands in Africa. Cyclone really caught my eye six months ago, and when he became available, I was determined to get him at any cost.”
The Hurwitz Farming auction is a prominent event in the cattle breeding industry, attracting buyers and Boran enthusiasts from far and wide. Hurwitz Farming, with nearly 30 years of involvement in the Boran breed, is one of the pioneers of this breed in South Africa.
Intense Battle and Investment in Genetics
During the auction, Tafireyi’s determination was evident. “I spoke with Rogers last night about the investment,” he said. “We knew it was going to be a tough battle, but I was prepared.”
Rogers Sithole, who also made significant purchases at the auction, acknowledged the quality of the cattle on offer. “The quality of the cattle today was amazing. Collins bought an incredible bull, one of the most perfectly bred I’ve ever seen. We continue to invest in good genetics to improve our stock.”
The auction highlighted the importance of investing in top-quality genetics for the improvement of cattle breeds. “It’s not just about the money; it’s about the potential for the future,” said Sithole. “We are excited about the possibilities this brings to our breeding programs.”
The Future of Cattle Breeding in Zimbabwe
Tafireyi’s purchase is expected to have a significant impact on the cattle breeding industry in Zimbabwe. “Our goal is to elevate the cattle breeding standards in Zimbabwe,” he explained. “We aim to transform our cattle industry into one of the best on the continent by investing in top genetics and knowledge sharing.”
Hurwitz Farming’s high standards and successful auction have set a new benchmark for the industry. “The bar has been set very high,” said Sithole. “We look forward to seeing what they will do next year, but for now, we are focused on bringing these top genetics home and improving our herds.”
As the auction concluded, it was clear that the investments made by Tafireyi and Sithole are poised to bring significant advancements to the cattle breeding industry in Zimbabwe and beyond. “We are committed to making Zimbabwe a home for the best Boran cattle,” Tafireyi said. “This is just the beginning.”

War of Words Erupts Over Alick Macheso’s Latest Song Release

By Showbiz Reporter | Alick Macheso’s latest song release has ignited a heated debate among fans, with strong opinions being expressed on social media. The comments reflect a variety of perspectives on the new track.

Prince Tembo Chakuringa:
“I am a true fan of Macheso, but here the boss poured water especially on the vocals, and then you say that there will be something you will love when you are listening to the guitar when Jonas comes in and the whole song is arranged.”

Cheso poster

Tafadzwa Challenge:
“Prince Tembo Chakuringa, tell me about the atomic bombers in Japan and at the same time why put the skis for the live show in the Studio, Mike, Maikoro 5 times and the guitar dialed ummmm haaa the boss is talking.”

Hope Suit:
“Tafadzwa Chanetsa, the way I enjoyed that song, so it means to enjoy it differently. You chimbo do about popo popo Sungura belongs to us adults.”

Alfred Repent:
“Prince Tembo Chakuringa, give yourself time to listen to all the songs.”

The passionate exchange highlights the strong emotions and differing opinions among Macheso’s fan base regarding his latest musical offering.

In terms of performance, Alick Macheso’s recent work has been a subject of intense scrutiny. While some fans praise the innovative guitar arrangements and the intricate layering of sounds, others feel that his vocals fell short of their expectations. Macheso’s ability to fuse traditional Sungura rhythms with contemporary elements continues to draw admiration, yet this experimentation also seems to divide his audience. The interplay of traditional and modern musical techniques in his new release is indicative of an artist attempting to evolve within his genre, but the mixed reactions suggest a challenge in balancing innovation with the established musical identity that long-time fans cherish.

Mnangagwa Boasts of Reconstructing Holy Cross Dam

Mnangagwa Aide Undresses Joseph Kalimbwe

This suggestion not only reveals a lack of basic diplomatic knowledge but also raises a red flag about the credibility of those behind it. Many Zambians find this proposal both surprising and amusing!

For Zimbabweans, it’s essential to realize that engaging with Joseph Kalimbwe does not translate to engaging Zambians.

His opinions do not reflect the sentiments of the Zambian people. Given this situation, it’s important to set the record straight.

I challenge Kalimbwe to a public debate here in Zambia. Let’s clarify the facts and address any misinformation.

George Charamba Has Unleashed Thugs To Kill Me

CCC Heavyweight Prince Dubeko Sibanda Alleges Threats from Presidential Spokesman George Charamba

Harare, Zimbabwe – August 4, 2024

By Farai D Hove | ZimEye | In an early Sunday morning tweet, Prince Dubeko Sibanda, a prominent figure in Zimbabwe’s opposition Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) and former Member of Parliament, has publicly accused George Charamba, the presidential spokesperson, of orchestrating a terror campaign against him.

Sibanda made these allegations via a post on social media, where he directly addressed Charamba, known on social media as @dhonzamusoro007. In his post, Sibanda claimed that Charamba had dispatched thugs to various locations, including Harare (Hre), Bulawayo (Byo), and Victoria Falls (Vic Falls), with the intent to harm him.

“I have seen all the thugs you have unleashed to kill me,” Sibanda’s post read. “They’ve been all over, Hre, Byo, Vic Falls. I told them to go back to the sender. Meanwhile, I am in Hre. Tell me when you are free for a man-to-man fight. I can meet you at Karigamombe building.”

The social media post was accompanied by a stern photograph of Sibanda, highlighting the seriousness of his allegations. This accusation has sparked immediate concern among his supporters and the broader public, raising alarms over the state of political safety and freedom in Zimbabwe.

In response, ZimEye suggested a more peaceful resolution, proposing that Charamba should apologize to Sibanda. “On another note, your jokes do lighten up the space sometimes,” the post read, seemingly trying to defuse the tension while acknowledging the gravity of Sibanda’s claims.

The CCC, known for its vocal opposition to the ruling party, has yet to issue an official statement regarding these allegations. However, Sibanda’s public appeal for a “man-to-man fight” indicates a readiness to confront these threats head-on.

As of now, there has been no response from George Charamba or any official statement from the government regarding these serious accusations. The situation remains fluid, and further developments are expected as the day progresses.

This incident underscores the ongoing tensions within Zimbabwe’s political landscape, where allegations of intimidation and violence have often marred the country’s democratic processes. The international community will likely be watching closely to see how the situation unfolds and whether there will be any formal investigations into Sibanda’s claims.

For now, Prince Dubeko Sibanda remains defiant, standing his ground in Harare, awaiting a response from those he has accused. The CCC and its supporters will undoubtedly be rallying around him, calling for justice and protection from political violence.

Fresh Details On Mnangagwa, Chamisa Dialogue

By Political Reporter- Zanu PF leader Emmerson Mnangagwa has spelt out his position on engaging with opposition politician Nelson Chamisa.

George Charamba, Mnangagwa’s spokesperson, said his boss had closed the door to any dialogue with Chamisa.

This stance was reiterated in response to an appeal by economist Gift Mugano, who had urged Zimbabweans from all political backgrounds to engage in dialogue to address the country’s pressing issues.

Mugano, posting on X (formerly Twitter), emphasized the importance of unity and dialogue in overcoming national challenges, citing historical examples such as the 1987 Unity Accord between ZANU and ZAPU, and the Government of National Unity (GNU) formed with the MDC.
Mugano wrote:
“Fellow Zimbabweans, we have it on record that when we sit down and dialogue as Zimbabweans, we make progress as a country. Striking examples of what dialogue can do are the talks between ZANU and ZAPU; and ZANU PF and MDC which produced the 1987 Unity Accord and GNU, respectively. Likewise, we have it on record that when we unite, we move mountains. We united as one people against the Smith Regime and defeated them during our hard-won armed struggle. Demonstrations will not help us to resolve our differences/challenges. Likewise, crackdown on citizens will not help us to resolve our challenges/differences… I appeal to our leaders from the business community, churches, civil society, political parties, GOZ, academics, labour, etc to rise to the challenge and provide leadership towards the establishment of an inclusive dialogue aimed at providing permanent solutions to our differences/challenges.”
Despite Mugano’s appeal, Charamba dismissed the notion of dialogue with Chamisa, stating that the opportunity for such talks had already passed. He accused Mugano and human rights lawyer Advocate Thabani Mpofu of misleading Chamisa, resulting in Chamisa’s political isolation. Charamba stated:
“Professor, here is my honest view from inside: Nguva yataida nhaurirano yakapfuura. That’s the truth. Those keen on talks took up the chance and are communicating with the State. Those who chose to stay out of dialogue because of cheap advice from you naAdvocate Fulcrum, will remain outside the circuit of dialogue. What you are harvesting are the disutilities of your amateurish political exuberance in the run-up to elections. You fortified Chamisa on the wrong; today he is in the wilderness you created, and you want to sound constructive, reasonable and level-headed. You are part of the cabal of pseudo-intellectuals who misled the young man. Today you seek to salve your conscience by abortively appearing to re-negotiate for his Second Coming. IT CAN’T!”
Since January, Chamisa has been politically adrift after announcing his departure from the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC), a party he helped establish in 2022. He cited infiltration by ZANU PF as his reason for leaving.
Nelson Chamisa remains a significant figure in Zimbabwean politics. His potential to galvanize opposition forces and challenge the ruling party is recognized, despite current setbacks. The ongoing discourse around dialogue and political reconciliation highlights the complexities of Zimbabwe’s political landscape and the enduring relevance of Chamisa’s leadership in shaping the country’s future.

100 Arrested Ahead Of SADC Summit

By Political Reporter- More than 100 human rights and political activists have been arrested ahead of the 44th SADC summit due in Harare in two weeks’ time.

Zimbabwe is preparing to assume the chair of the Southern African Development Community and to host the SADC Summit on August 17 in Harare.

The Zimbabwean Lawyers for Human Rights, representing most of these activists and other rights groups, have raised concern over Harare’s human rights abuses.

The latest is the abduction, torture and arrest of four pro-democracy activists who were taken from a plane at the Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport.

Jameson Timba, an opposition politician with 77 opposition activists, has been in remand prison for two months. They were arrested while commemorating the International Day of the African Child on June 16.

They are being held in horrific conditions and repeatedly denied bail.

South Africa’s opposition party, the Democratic Alliance, released a statement, calling on the Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, Ronald Lamola, to exercise South Africa’s right as a SADC member and urgently demand that the upcoming SADC summit be moved to a different location.

Zimbabwean Cattle Rancher Sets Auction Record in SA with R8 Million Purchase

By Business Reporter | Davel, Mpumalanga, South Africa– In a groundbreaking event for the cattle breeding industry, Zimbabwean cattle rancher Collins Tafireyi shattered auction records in South Africa by purchasing a remarkable Boran Stud bull, Lot 10 Cyclone, for an unprecedented R8 million (US$444,000). The auction took place at 11 a.m. today at the Hurwitz Farming Production Auction at Bull Ring Auction House.

Inconsistency and Lack of Zeal in Opposition Ranks: A Gift to Zanu PF

By Itayi Tawona Muchemwa | The current state of the opposition in Zimbabwe is a far cry from the vibrant, united, and determined force that emerged in the early 2000s. Today, inconsistency, disorganization, and a lack of zeal have become the hallmarks of the opposition, costing them dearly and handing a golden opportunity to the ruling Zanu PF government.

The opposition’s inability to present a united front, articulate a clear vision, and demonstrate a consistent stance on key issues has created an environment of uncertainty and skepticism among citizens. This disorder has gifted Zanu PF a goal, allowing them to capitalize on the opposition’s weaknesses and maintain their grip on power.

Despite the people’s desire for change, the opposition’s lack of zeal and inconsistency will likely lead to a familiar outcome: Zanu PF retaining power. The people will be forced to vote for the devil they know, rather than risking their trust on an opposition that has failed to inspire confidence.

It is time for the opposition to reflect on their strategy, reunite their ranks, and rediscover the zeal that once drove them to challenge the status quo. Only then can they truly represent the people’s aspirations and bring about the change that Zimbabwe so desperately needs.

Fake Doctor Caught After Performing 4 Surgeries

Gokwe, Zimbabwe – In a shocking revelation, another fake doctor has been uncovered in Gokwe, highlighting a troubling trend across Southern Africa. Admire Munyeki of Mbizo 5, Kwekwe, has been convicted of performing four unauthorized surgeries, posing a significant threat to patient safety.

Munyeki appeared before Gokwe Magistrate Grace Tupiri, facing four counts of contravening the Medical Act by practicing as or representing himself as a medical practitioner. He pleaded guilty to all charges.

The state, represented by Tatenda Mandishona, detailed Munyeki’s fraudulent activities:

  • On January 5, 2024, at Givemore Masteck homestead village Maluma 2, Chief Samuchembu, Gokwe North, Munyeki falsely claimed to be a dental practitioner. He extracted two teeth from Stella Sibanda, who later experienced severe pain and reported to Samuchembu Rural Health Center, exposing the fraud.
  • On March 1, 2024, Munyeki performed a circumcision on Daison Chelo, who subsequently suffered complications and reported to the health center.
  • Munyeki also posed as a medical doctor to operate on Taimon Ndege, who had a hernia. Ndege developed complications and was taken to Gweru Provincial Hospital, where the deceit was discovered.
  • Additionally, Munyeki conducted a minor surgery on Erisha Siakachoma’s neck to remove a growth. The offense came to light when Siakachoma reported to the health center.

Munyeki was apprehended at a funeral in Chirape area, Gokwe North, on Monday. He will be sentenced on Thursday.

This alarming case in Gokwe is part of a broader issue affecting Southern Africa, where fraudulent health practitioners are endangering lives. The medical profession is increasingly targeted by fraudsters, particularly in South Africa, where fake qualifications are estimated to run between 15% and 18% across various professions.

Several countries in Southern Africa are grappling with this problem. Medical councils are investigating how these culprits infiltrate systems, especially as such frauds gain popularity on social media.

The Well-Attired Intern and the TikTok Doc

In 2017, Malawi police arrested Lloyd Chisoso, who posed as a doctor at Malmed Clinic in Blantyre. He had previously applied under a different name and swapped a registration number to impersonate a legitimate doctor. His ruse was uncovered when the clinic’s management noticed discrepancies in his patient interactions.

More recently, South African authorities have cracked down on fraudulent doctors. Last summer, they arrested 124 bogus doctors in a nationwide sweep. South Africa’s Minister of Health, Joe Phaahla, noted that unregistered doctors evade the system by joining the private sector, often being paid in cash or working within registered practices.

One high-profile case involved Matthew Lani, a TikTok star arrested in October for claiming to be a medical doctor. Lani used Helen Joseph Hospital in Johannesburg to create misleading content, despite not having any medical qualifications.

Strained Economics and the Rise of Fake Doctors

The rise of fake doctors in Southern Africa points to deeper economic issues. Many individuals posing as medics have attended medical schools but lack job opportunities or have not completed regulatory exams. Victor Mithi, president of the Association of Medical Doctors in Malawi, explains that the turnover of healthcare workers and the lack of proper identification materials make it easier for fraudsters to blend in.

“These individuals often engage with patients, issuing prescriptions or demanding money, causing harm and endangering lives,” Mithi says. “Our healthcare systems need to be more vigilant to prevent such dangerous deceptions.”

As Munyeki awaits sentencing, the exposure of another fake doctor in Gokwe serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing battle against medical fraud. The situation calls for heightened vigilance and stricter regulations to safeguard the integrity of the medical profession and ensure patient safety across Southern Africa.

Warriors Star Faces Uncertain Future

Wolves coach Gary O’Neil has admitted that Tawanda Chirewa may depart on loan this summer with the club yet to make a decision on his future.

The Warriors international’s breakthrough came in the previous season after making his senior debut against Brentford in the FA Cup.

He went on to became a regular in the senior matchday squads and registered 10 first-team appearances in total.

Speaking to English publication, Express and Star, O’Neil believes it will be a positive move for Chirewa if he leaves on loan since Wolves’ depth in attacking areas means the youngest may get limited game time.

“That’s still undecided,” the gaffer told the publication when asked if Chirewa will leave on loan.

“He has shown potential, but obviously we have more attacking players available at this moment than we did last year.

“Maybe it will be more difficult for him to push up, not to say it’s impossible but we will do what’s right for. him.”

Chirewa is currently with the senior team in USA for pre-season camp.

The forward was spotted wearing a much lower jersey number, 28, from his previous number 62 which he wore as an academy player in the senior squad.

Kariba Lake Water Levels Plummet, Threatening Hydropower Generation

By A Correspondent

The Kariba Lake, a crucial reservoir for hydropower generation, is experiencing a notable decline in water levels due to persistently low inflow rates.

As of July 29, 2024, the lake’s water level stands at 477.04 meters, marking a significant drop from 479.69 meters on the same date in 2023.

This decline corresponds to a reduction in usable storage capacity, which has decreased from 29.56% to just 10.63% over the past year.

Designed to operate effectively between 475.50 meters and 488.50 meters, with an additional 0.70 meters reserved as freeboard, Kariba Lake is a critical resource for generating hydropower in the region.

The ongoing drop in water levels threatens the lake’s ability to maintain optimal hydropower generation, posing risks for energy supplies.

The reduced inflow has compounded concerns about the lake’s future operational stability and the broader implications for energy security. If the trend continues, it may necessitate adjustments in power generation strategies and increased efforts to address water management and conservation issues in the region.

Zimbabwean Man Caught With USD 828 Million Worth of ‘Mutoriro’ Meth in Australia

Sydney, Australia – In a significant drug bust, a Zimbabwean man has been apprehended in Sydney for allegedly smuggling 900 kilograms of methamphetamine, commonly known as “Mutoriro” in Zimbabwe, into Australia. The illicit haul, valued at an astonishing USD 828 million, marks a dramatic escalation in the international narcotics trade involving the drug that has wreaked havoc in Zimbabwe.

The suspect, Michael Charumbira, 31, was arrested at a property in Warwick Farm, Sydney, after an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers led authorities to a shipping container at Port Botany. Inside, Australian Border Force officers discovered the methamphetamine concealed within two industrial computer numerical control (CNC) machines, originally shipped from the United States.

The arrest- Aussie Federal Police

Authorities report that the methamphetamine was packaged in individual wraps, ready for distribution. The drugs were believed to have been part of a sophisticated “piggybacking” operation, where contraband is sent to a legitimate business with a history of importing goods, and then diverted to criminal syndicates upon arrival.

Detective Superintendent Peter Fogarty of the Australian Federal Police (AFP) stated, “Methamphetamine is the second-most-consumed illicit drug in Australia, and its impact can be felt across the community, in our homes and in our hospitals. This seizure will have a significant impact on the drug trade in New South Wales.”

The Zimbabwean origin of the methamphetamine highlights a worrying trend. “Mutoriro” has been a scourge in Zimbabwe, contributing to a surge in substance abuse, particularly among the youth. Studies by Gunda and Mbwirire (2020) and Nhapi (2019) have documented the devastating effects of drug addiction on students in rural Zimbabwe, leading to severe physical, psychological, and social problems, and even mortality.

No one anticipated that the trafficking of Mutoriro would extend beyond Zimbabwe’s borders, let alone on such a massive scale. The Australian Federal Police allege that the drugs were intended for distribution across the eastern seaboard, indicating a well-organized international drug syndicate.

Charumbira, who has been charged with attempting to possess a commercial quantity of a border-controlled drug, faces a maximum penalty of life in prison. Another man arrested alongside Charumbira was released pending further inquiries.

“This case underscores the global nature of the drug trade and the ongoing battle against narcotics that continue to devastate communities worldwide. The collaboration between international law enforcement agencies was pivotal in this operation,” said AFP Commissioner Reece Kershaw. “The information provided by the US Homeland Security Investigations agency was crucial in alerting us to the shipment.”

The bust is a testament to the collaborative efforts between international law enforcement agencies. Information from the US Homeland Security Investigations agency was crucial in alerting Australian authorities to the shipment.

Peter Dutton, Australia’s Minister for Home Affairs, commented on the successful operation: “This significant seizure demonstrates the effectiveness of our law enforcement agencies and their commitment to keeping these dangerous drugs off our streets. We will continue to work closely with our international partners to disrupt and dismantle these criminal networks.”

This case underscores the global nature of the drug trade and the ongoing battle against narcotics that continue to devastate communities worldwide. The AFP has indicated that further arrests are anticipated as investigations continue.

As the legal proceedings against Charumbira unfold, the international community watches closely, recognizing the critical need for heightened vigilance and cooperation to combat the pervasive threat of illicit drugs.- Sky/Australia Federal Police

Zanu PF’s Facebook Threat Against Nelson Chamisa Sparks Outrage

By A Correspondent

In a disturbing development in Zimbabwe’s political landscape, a group associated with the ruling Zanu PF party has issued a stark and alarming threat against opposition leader Nelson Chamisa.

The threat, made by individuals running the Operation Restore Legacy Facebook page, has stirred significant concern and outrage among supporters and observers.

On Thursday, the page posted a slogan that has historically been associated with severe political violence.

The phrase “Pasi lo Chamisa labalandeli bakhe pasi,” which translates to “Down with Chamisa and his supporters, down,” has been condemned as a thinly veiled call for violence.

This type of rhetoric, laden with ominous implications, recalls a troubling period in Zimbabwe’s political history, where such slogans were used to justify harsh measures against political adversaries.

Operation Restore Legacy, a group known for its staunch support of Zanu PF and its controversial methods, has previously been involved in orchestrating campaigns to bolster the ruling party’s grip on power.

The Facebook page in question has been a platform for pro-Zanu PF sentiments, but this recent post escalates the situation to a dangerous level, suggesting an intent to intimidate or harm Chamisa and his followers.

Nelson Chamisa, leader of the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC), has been a prominent critic of President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s administration, advocating for democratic reforms and an end to corruption. His vocal opposition has made him a target of hostility from various quarters within the ruling party.

The threat from the Varakashi, Zanu PF’s notorious militia known for their aggressive tactics, adds a new dimension to the risks faced by Chamisa and his supporters.

The reaction to the threat has been swift and condemning.

Human rights organizations and opposition leaders have called for immediate action to ensure the safety of Chamisa and his team. There are demands for the government to denounce the threat publicly and take steps to protect political figures from such violent intimidation.

In response, Zanu PF has yet to issue a formal statement regarding the threat. However, the incident underscores the volatile nature of Zimbabwe’s political environment, where rhetoric can quickly translate into real-world violence.

The situation remains tense, with many calling for heightened vigilance and stronger safeguards to protect democratic processes and political dissent in the country.

Government Creating False Charges To Arrest Opposition Leaders Ahead of SADC Summit

In a blatant display of political persecution, Jacob Ngarivhume, a prominent opposition figure in Zimbabwe, was taken to court today after being illegally arrested yesterday. The charges leveled against him are a clear attempt by the state to silence dissent and suppress any potential protests during the upcoming SADC Summit.

The state claims that Ngarivhume was part of a meeting with Jameson Timba on June 16th and that he also stoned a police car on the same day. However, the defense team has strongly refuted these allegations, arguing that the arrest was unlawful as Ngarivhume was not summoned prior to his detention. Furthermore, the defense counsel highlighted the lack of any credible evidence or witness testimony to support the state’s claims.

This is a clear case of persecution against opposition leaders who the state believes may call for protests during the SADC Summitl. The arrest was carried out without following due process, and there is no substantive evidence to back up the charges against J Ngarivhume.

The magistrate has adjourned the case until August 7th, without specifying whether Ngarivhume will be held in custody or released on bail. The defense team argued that the arrest is null and void and that Ngarivhume should be released immediately, as he was essentially abducted.

In a surprising twist, the defense provided evidence that on the day in question, J Ngarivhume had attended a church service at the UFIC Basilica in Chitungwiza and later spent the day with his family, celebrating Father’s Day. This directly contradicts the state’s allegations and further highlights the political nature of the charges.

This blatant persecution of an opposition leader ahead of a major regional summit raises serious concerns about the state’s commitment to democracy and the rule of law in Zimbabwe. The international community and human rights organizations are urged to closely monitor this case and condemn any attempts to stifle dissent and peaceful opposition.

Mnangagwa Regime Torments Ngarivhume

By A Correspondent

Jacob Ngarivhume, the leader of the opposition party Transform Zimbabwe, was arrested on Friday under controversial circumstances.

The arrest was confirmed by the party, which alleges that Ngarivhume was detained for his involvement in a meeting organized by Jameson Timba and his team.

According to Transform Zimbabwe, the charges against Ngarivhume stem from accusations that he was seen holding stones and allegedly confronting the police.

The party’s statement reads, “Hanzi vaiweko vakaonekwa wakabata matombo uchirwisa mapurisa,” which translates to claims that he was seen holding stones and resisting arrest.

Ngarivhume’s arrest comes amid rising tensions between the opposition and the government of President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

The opposition party views the arrest as a strategic move to suppress dissent and curtail political opposition.

The situation has raised concerns about the state of political freedoms and the government’s approach to handling political activists in Zimbabwe.

Kariba Lake Levels Drop Significantly Amidst Low Inflow

Why Am I Not Getting Views on TikTok

Imagine putting in several hours to produce a video. After perfecting the choreography, adding the newest trending hashtags, and picking out the perfect music, you check back only to find zero views.

This can be quite frustrating. However, this feeling is not uncommon among TikTokers. It’s something that can take a big hit on your self-esteem and drive to create content and even make you question your own creativity.

Now, there are certain things you could do to handle this situation. But before that, it’s important to understand some possible reasons why you may not be getting views on TikTok. This article will discuss those reasons and offer effective methods to help improve your situation.

9 Reasons Why My TikTok Videos Aren’t Getting Views

1) Shadowbanned

Being shadowbanned is one of the most annoying reasons you’re not getting views. TikTok can limit your visibility without giving a notification about it. Primarily this occurs when people break community rules or participate in spam activities such as following and then unfollowing many users quickly.

In order to remove a shadowban, you should look into TikTok’s rules, stop using dubious hashtags, and make sure you follow community standards. You can also check your analytics to see if a sudden decrease in views is due to shadowban.

2) Lack of Video Engagements

TikTok uses an algorithm to decide which content should be promoted. If a video gets more likes, comments and shares, the algorithm will likely promote it further. But if your videos do not receive enough of these interactions, the algorithm might determine that there is no point in promoting them anymore. This could greatly restrict how many views you obtain.

You can interact with viewers, reply to their comments, do duets and react to their messages. However, the quickest way is to buy views from a reliable vendor. Having mentioned this, you can buy TikTok Views and Comments from Media Mister.

They claim to provide 100% real interaction which could increase your video visibility and also ensure a high retention rate. They have very secure payment choices, together with a money-back guarantee.

3) Poor Content Quality

There’s been a lot of debate on whether TikTok’s algorithm prioritizes quality or quantity. To settle the score, TikTok confirmed that it prioritizes high-quality videos on the FYP. So, if you want your videos to reach many people, you want to give them the good stuff.

Invest in basic equipment like a ring light and a decent microphone and camera. As a bonus, learn how to edit your videos and add transitions, effects, and music. That will help you make a TikTok video that people will want to watch and share with others.

4) Create Videos Under 15 Seconds

If your TikTok videos are too long, they might not get watched until the end, losing viewers’ interest. Making shorter videos that stay under 15 seconds can help keep people engaged and improve the rate at which users finish watching a video.

And as everyone understands, these two things make you likable by the algorithm. Shorter videos are more likely to be shared and played again, increasing your visibility. If your content is very long, divide it into several short videos. This will help keep viewers engaged and encourage them to come back another time.

5) Not Using the Right Hashtags

Hashtags are extremely important if you want to be found by your target audience on TikTok. Not using enough or unrelated hashtags may restrict your exposure. With that in mind, do your research and identify hashtags that are currently popular and specific to your content’s niche.

For your video, use hashtags that are popular but not too competitive. That will improve the possibility of your videos being discovered by the right audience. You can also make a unique hashtag for your brand. This helps build up your online presence. And finally, don’t forget to update your hashtag strategy and align it with the trends happening around you.

6) Inconsistent Publishing

If you post videos occasionally, it might be difficult for you to attract and keep followers. So, set a posting schedule that works for you and follow it consistently. Regularly updating your content helps maintain your viewer’s interest and shows the algorithm that your account is active.

Being consistent can also greatly enhance the probability of gaining more views over time and going viral on TikTok. If you are uncertain about being online every day, take advantage of TikTok’s scheduling features to plan posts in advance.

That makes sure there’s always new content coming up. Posting on a regular basis assists in maintaining interest from viewers and anticipation for subsequent videos.

7) Using Duplicate Content

TikTok appreciates uniqueness and innovation. Posting the same content or reusing videos from other platforms without alterations can result in lesser interaction. Ensure that each video you upload is special and adjusted to suit TikTok’s style and viewership.

Creating and editing videos with TikTok’s own tools can add a touch of originality and charm. Unique content is more likely to be shared or highlighted by the algorithm. Do not simply repost your old videos without introducing something fresh or new. Fresh, innovative content is key to keeping your audience engaged and attracting new viewers.

8) TikTok’s Algorithm Changes

TikTok’s algorithm is always changing, and this is something else that could have an effect on how many views your video receives. It’s very important to stay informed about such changes to keep up with the view count.

You can check the announcements from TikTok’s official page and participate in creator communities to know more about algorithm updates. Follow the trends and algorithm preferences, adjusting your content strategy to match.

Remain flexible and responsive to these changes in order to maintain and increase your audience. Continuously check analytics and try out different types of content regularly to stay ahead of algorithm shifts.

9) You’re Not Using Analytics

TikTok provides a range of analytics tools that can assist in comprehending the success of your videos. You will receive details about watch time, viewership demographics, and active periods, among other data points.

Studying this data helps you recognize what works and what doesn’t work so that you can improve your content creation strategy. For instance, if analytics reveal that your audience interacts better with shorter, you can concentrate on producing exactly that.

Likewise, recognizing the periods when your followers are most involved will help you post at ideal times to increase visibility. Consistently examining and modifying your strategy according to statistics is crucial for enhancing performance on TikTok.

Conclusion

Not receiving views on TikTok is a frustrating experience. But by understanding the causes behind this problem, you can make necessary changes to improve your visibility. Taking steps to address these concerns may help increase your views. Just make sure you maintain your creativity and persistence and you’ll eventually achieve your goals.

Mnangagwa Bans Musical Shows?

By Political Reporter- The government has said that it has not banned or prohibited public gatherings due to the forthcoming SADC Summit set for this month.

In a statement Friday, national police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi, speaking on the reports, said:
“This is false. The public should dismiss this false information with the contempt it deserves. “The Zimbabwe Republic Police implores the public to observe the country’s laws whilst conducting various activities in order to assist in the maintenance of law and order.” Opposition functionaries have leapt into life in recent weeks, making a number of false statements, including posting pictures from other countries suggesting torture. Other posts claim that people are being abducted, which is a traditional script played by the opposition ahead of major international events. There have also been false claims that all shops would be forced to close at 5pm during the SADC period.

South Africa’s DA Party Wants SADC Summit Venue Moved From Zimbabwe

By A Correspondent| South Africa’s Democratic Alliance (DA) party has urged the Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, Ronald Lamola, to exercise South Africa’s rights as a member of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) and demand that the upcoming 44th Ordinary SADC Summit of Heads of State and Government, scheduled for August 17, 2024, in Harare, Zimbabwe, be relocated to another venue.

The call comes amidst growing concerns over state-sponsored repression in Zimbabwe.

According to the DA, recent reports have highlighted a severe clampdown on pro-democracy activists by the ruling ZANU-PF regime.

The DA claims that this crackdown stems from the regime’s fear of public protests ahead of the summit.

The SADC’s founding treaty emphasizes the commitment of member states to uphold “human rights, democracy, and the rule of law.”

The DA argues that the ZANU-PF government has consistently violated these principles with impunity, especially in the run-up to the summit.

Notable among these incidents is the detention of Jameson Timba, an opposition politician, along with 77 other opposition activists. The group has reportedly been held in dire conditions and repeatedly denied bail after being arrested for allegedly holding an ‘unauthorised political meeting.’

Additionally, four democracy activists were recently removed from a plane at Robert Mugabe International Airport and charged with disorderly conduct for participating in a protest demanding the release of the detained activists, who have been in pre-trial detention for over six weeks.

The DA contends that the Zimbabwean government’s use of state machinery to suppress dissent illustrates its willingness to flout the law to maintain its authoritarian rule.

The party argues that South Africa and the broader SADC community have a responsibility to hold the Zimbabwean government accountable for its actions. The DA asserts that allowing the summit to proceed as planned would not only endorse ZANU-PF’s disregard for international law but also undermine the core principles upon which SADC was founded.

The DA further expressed concern over President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s upcoming chairmanship of the SADC, viewing it as a sign of the regional leaders’ failure to hold the Zimbabwean leadership accountable.

The party believes that South Africa, as a prominent SADC member, must take decisive action to uphold international law and advocate for the summit to be relocated to a location that respects democratic values.

This move, according to the DA, would send a clear message that South Africa and SADC will not tolerate the suppression of democratic freedoms in the region.

Tshabangu Caught Offside

By A Correspondent

Recent comments by Tshabangu, the interim Secretary General of the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) and a notable figure aligned with the Zanu PF party, have ignited widespread outrage among the public.

Tshabangu’s call for a crackdown on protesters, particularly ahead of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) Summit scheduled for Harare this August, has drawn sharp criticism from various quarters.

In his statement, Tshabangu urged law enforcement agencies to address “any element of anarchy” and ensure that anyone deemed criminally liable is dealt with accordingly, regardless of their political affiliation.

His emphasis on maintaining peace during the high-profile SADC Summit was accompanied by a stern warning against disturbances, highlighting the government’s intent to manage dissent firmly.

The Zanu PF leader Mr Emmerson is set to take over the SADC chairmanship this August.

The call for stringent measures has been met with significant backlash from citizens and opposition groups.

Critics argue that Tshabangu’s stance undermines the right to peaceful assembly and expression, essential elements of a democratic society.

They contend that his comments reflect a broader tendency to suppress dissent rather than address legitimate grievances through dialogue and reform.

The public’s anger underscores a growing frustration with the perceived intolerance for opposition and dissent in the country.

Many view Tshabangu’s remarks as a signal of increasing governmental pressure on civil liberties, particularly in the context of political events that are already under intense scrutiny.

As the SADC meeting approaches, the debate over the balance between maintaining order and respecting democratic freedoms continues to intensify.

Tshabangu’s comments have certainly added a new dimension to this discourse, further polarizing public opinion and raising questions about the future of political expression in the country.

Chamisa Gives Zanu PF Hardliners Torrid Time

SA Govt Relocate SADC Summit To Stop ED From Abducting Chamisa Activists

By A Correspondent | Cape Town, August 2, 2024 – The Democratic Alliance (DA) has called on South Africa’s Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, Ronald Lamola, to urgently request the relocation of the upcoming 44th Ordinary SADC Summit of Heads of State and Government, scheduled for August 17, 2024, in Harare, Zimbabwe. The DA’s appeal follows numerous reports of state-sponsored crackdowns on pro-democracy activists by the ZANU-PF regime.

In a press statement, the DA highlighted that Zimbabwe’s ruling party, ZANU-PF, has launched yet another wave of oppression against opposition and pro-democracy activists, fearing public protests ahead of the summit. This crackdown reportedly includes the detention of Jameson Timba, an opposition politician, along with 77 other activists. These individuals are allegedly being held in appalling conditions and have been repeatedly denied bail after being arrested for participating in what the regime termed an “unauthorized political meeting.”

The DA’s statement also mentions a recent incident at Robert Mugabe International Airport, where four democracy activists were forcibly removed from a plane and charged with disorderly conduct for protesting the prolonged detention of the 77 opposition members, who have been in pre-trial detention for over six weeks.

The DA emphasizes that the Southern African Development Community (SADC) founding treaty mandates member states to uphold principles of human rights, democracy, and the rule of law. The party argues that ZANU-PF’s actions are in blatant violation of these principles and that allowing the summit to proceed in Harare would effectively endorse ZANU-PF’s abuses and undermine the core values of the SADC.

“By abusing state machinery to violate the rights of Zimbabweans, the unrepentant ZANU-PF regime has demonstrated that it is prepared to go to any lengths to violate the law in order to entrench its authoritarian rule,” the DA stated. The party called on South Africa, as a leading SADC member, to take a firm stand and advocate for relocating the summit to a venue that upholds democratic values.

The DA also criticized the upcoming SADC chairmanship of Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa, describing it as a testament to the failure of regional leaders to hold “political thugs” accountable.

The DA concluded by asserting that relocating the summit would send a clear message that South Africa and the SADC will not tolerate the suppression of democratic freedoms in the region.

Bulawayo Denounces Mnangagwa

By Political Reporter- Citizens in Bulawayo have taken to the streets in protest over the arrest of 78 Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) members, demanding their immediate release.

Social media posts show hundreds of citizens marching and calling for the rule of law to prevail in Zimbabwe.

The protesters are also urging the forthcoming Southern African Development Community (SADC) summit to address the issue of the allegedly stolen 2023 polls.

These protests follow the arrest of Kariba Member of Parliament John Houghton and 13 others in Mashonaland West on Friday.

They were detained for staging a peaceful demonstration against the continued incarceration of CCC faction leader Jameson Timba and 77 other party activists.

Former CCC deputy spokesperson, Gift Ostallos Siziba, confirmed the arrests, stating, “13 activists, including Honourable John Houghton, former Mayor George Masendu, Farai Mageva, and others, have been arrested for peacefully protesting with placards demanding the release of Honourable Timba and others. They are currently detained at Kariba Police Headquarters. This is Zimbabwe under Mnangagwa. The constitution has been suspended! The fight is on. Homeland or death!”

The arrest of the CCC activists in Kariba comes as the government intensifies its crackdown on dissent, seemingly to prevent potential protests that could disrupt the upcoming 44th SADC Summit scheduled to be held in Harare on August 17.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights said, “14 Kariba residents, who are detained at Kariba Police Station, have been charged with contravening section 37 of the Criminal Code by the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) and are accused of participating in a gathering with intent to cause public violence.

ZRP officers allege that the 14 participated in an unsanctioned protest, holding placards demanding the release of CCC political party leader Jameson Timba and other Harare residents, who were arrested and detained in June.”

Timba and the CCC activists were arrested on June 16, 2024, while commemorating the Day of the African Child in Harare.

The High Court upheld the decision on July 17, leaving the detainees languishing in prolonged pretrial detention at Harare’s Chikurubi Maximum Security Prison.

A magistrate court on June 27 denied them bail on the grounds that the detainees were likely to commit similar offences if released.

Jacob Ngarivhume Detained Amid ZRP’s Denial of Resource Misuse Allegations

By A Correspondent | ZimEye | Harare, Zimbabwe – August 2, 2024 – In a surprising turn of events, Jacob Ngarivhume, President of Transform Zimbabwe, was reportedly detained at his residence by unknown individuals driving an unmarked Toyota FORTUNER GD6. This incident has sparked widespread concern and speculation among the public and political observers.

The detention occurred on the same day that the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) issued a press statement vehemently denying allegations circulating on social media that the government had banned public gatherings ahead of the upcoming Southern African Development Community (SADC) Summit. The ZRP dismissed these claims as false and urged the public to disregard them.

The ZRP’s press statement, signed by Commissioner Nyathi P., Chief Staff Officer of Press and Public Relations, emphasized the importance of observing the country’s laws and maintaining order. The statement reads: “The Zimbabwe Republic Police dismisses social media postings alleging that the Government of Zimbabwe has banned or prohibited public gatherings due to the forthcoming Southern African Development Community (SADC) Summit. This is false. The public should dismiss this false information with the contempt it deserves.”

The timing of Ngarivhume’s detention has raised eyebrows, especially in light of the ZRP’s recent denial of abusing their resources. Critics and supporters alike are demanding transparency and accountability from the authorities.

As the situation develops, the public and political entities await further information regarding Ngarivhume’s whereabouts and the circumstances surrounding his detention.

Tshabangu Triggers Public Anger After Calling for Crackdown on Protesters

Harare, Zimbabwe – August 1, 2024

By Showbiz Reporter | ZimEye | The whereabouts of Jeremiah Kanjanga, commonly known as Jerry, have remained unknown since his sudden disappearance in 2018. His last known public activity was a contentious accusation against popular socialite Felistas Murata, also known as Mai Titi, claiming she had infected him with an undisclosed disease.

Kanjanga’s disappearance has sparked fears that he may have been killed at a residence in Marlborough, Harare. This speculation has gained traction following recent social media activity and the resurgence of public interest in his case. Just three days ago, Mai Titi was confronted by a group of women spearheading the hashtag campaign, “Jerry aripi wakamuitei?” (“Where is Jerry, what did you do to him?”).

Prior to his disappearance, Mai Titi had launched several accusations against Kanjanga, including allegations of laptop theft and hacking Facebook accounts. These charges intensified the animosity between the two, culminating in the public altercation over the disease accusation.

Missing…Jerry Kanjanga

Notably, Kanjanga’s Facebook account, which hosted his accusations against Mai Titi, vanished from the internet soon after he was declared missing. This development has further fueled rumors and speculation regarding his fate.

A significant piece of evidence that may shed light on the mystery is Mai Titi’s last message about Kanjanga, posted on August 11, 2018. The message reads:

“I’m calling upon everyone who is looking for this guy. Jeremiah Kanjanga, the guy in a gray jacket with a pink tie in the picture. Everyone who has had their laptops stolen, pages hacked, fake chats created, or money stolen through Bitcoin by this man, as well as anyone who has worked with him and had their bank accounts hacked, should come forward. Anyone who has ever been blackmailed by this guy and is looking for him, please come through.

All those who have messaged me, call me and I will lead you to him. We found him and he has been coming to court with his brothers. My laptops were stolen, and he was ordered to return the money. He was sentenced to community service but I am not done yet with him. He must answer for the fake page issue.

Don’t be deceived by his looks; this guy is an international criminal owning six SIM cards from different countries yet he has never been to any of them. He can hack your WhatsApp and read everything on your phone while you are online. He can create fake chats and more. Never trust him with your laptop. He lies that he has a TV station and targets people with fame and business people. Many have invested in this guy and never got anything. He steals hard-earned money claiming it’s for investments. Some conmen you will never believe until you experience it yourself.

Warning to all: Get in touch, we now know where to find him.”

The resurfacing of this post has ignited public curiosity and concern over Kanjanga’s fate. As authorities continue to investigate, the community remains on edge, seeking answers to the enduring question: Do you know happened to Jerry Kanjanga? Contact ZimEye.

Updates will follow as more information becomes available.

Shock As Zanu PF Varakashi Publicly Threaten To Kill Nelson Chamisa

Mutsvangwa Jailed For Unlawful Entry

A Harare man, Nelson Mutsvangwa (39) was sentenced to 5 years and 3 months imprisonment by a Harare Magistrate on 9 counts of unlawful entry in aggravating circumstance.

The accused person targetted office premises around the Central Business District and stole computers and accessories.

In one incident which occurred on the 20th of May 2024, he was caught in the act by the complainant. He gained entry into the office using duplicate keys.

He had packed 3 lenovo laptops and was on his way out when he was caught. A police report was made leading to his arrest.

Wiwa Confronts Mnangagwa Over Torture of Human Rights Activists

Fiery opposition politician Job Wiwa Sikhala has strongly condemned the torture of human rights activists in the country, asserting that such acts cannot suppress the will of the people.

In a statement released on Thursday, Sikhala criticized the regime’s use of torture as a means to silence dissent.

He emphasized that this approach, as evidenced by the reported detention and mistreatment of activists including @robohchere, @namataik_, @cdegwenzi, and Vusimuzi Moyo, is a dangerous gamble for the regime.

Sikhala warned that oppressive regimes often fail to recognize the inevitable backlash from such actions.

He urged supporters of the regime to heed the wisdom of Malcolm X, who warned against the use of violence and repression to control dissent.

See statement below :

“The danger that faces many oppressive regimes is their failure to read the message on the wall. Using torture as an instrument to subdue dissenting voice like what is reportedly done to @robohchere, who was kept in communicado by regime agents yesterday together with @namataik_ , @cdegwenzi, Vusimuzi Moyo is the most dangerous gamble the regime can play with.

I urge regime enablers to carefully listen to the free advice given to such behaviour by Malcolm X.”

Bishop Arrested On False-Accusation of Violence Incitement During SADC Summit

“They arrived at 10am,” they said.

“They look him to Harare Central [Police Station],” the ZimEye source added.

The Officer Commanding Police Harare Central District, Chief Superintendent G. Moyo, announced this week that the event date conflicts with the 44th SADC Summit, which is set to take place in Harare.

Veld Fire Engulfs Harare East, Disrupts Traffic and Raises Concerns

By A Correspondent| A devastating veld fire swept through the Harare East area of Msasa today leaving a trail of destruction and chaos in its wake. The blaze, which occurred near the N Richards and Feruka oil depot, sent thick smoke billowing into the air, severely impacting car traffic and raising concerns among local residents.

The veld fire, which is believed to have started in the late morning, quickly spread due to strong winds and dry vegetation. Firefighters and emergency services rushed to the scene, but their efforts were hindered by the intensity of the blaze and limited access to water.

As the smoke engulfed the area, car traffic came to a standstill. Motorists were forced to navigate through thick, choking smoke, reducing visibility to almost zero. Many drivers abandoned their vehicles, seeking shelter from the hazardous conditions.

The proximity of the fire to the Feruka oil depot and other nearby fuel storage facilities raised concerns about potential explosions and environmental hazards. Authorities scrambled to contain the situation, but the risk of catastrophic consequences remained high.

Local residents, businesses, Emergency services and firefighters worked tirelessly to bring the blaze under control, but the full extent of the damage is still unknown.

Sikhala, Ngarivhume Blast Mnangagwa

Herald story titled “Government to Take Firm Action Against Instigators of Violence” is Rubbish:

31 July 2024

PRESS RELEASE

BY Job Sikhala : National Democratic Working Group (NDWG) &
Jacob Ngarivhume : Transform Zimbabwe (TZ)

We the undersigned leaders of Transform Zimbabwe (TZ) political party and the Chairman and Facilitator of the National Democratic Working Group (NDWG) a broad based civic movement, demand an apology and withdrawal of the false story published by the Herald of today Wednesday the 31st of July 2024 to the effect that we have been sponsored by Oppenheimers funded Brenthurst Foundation and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), to lead demonstrations against the illegitimate Zanupf regime in Harare.

The story imputed that the National Democratic Working Group and Transform Zimbabwe in association with the Zimbabwe National Students Union (ZINASU), are organising demonstrations to destabilise Zimbabwe during the SADC Summit when Zimbabwe will assume the chairmanship.

The first thing we realised is that there are no any sources that the Herald got the rubbish story from, except paranoid and frightened looters sitting at Munhumutapa Building. It’s all the hallucinations they pass out as authentic news.

Their sources are illusionary and desperate failures who are seeking to cover their intentions and desperation to arrest us and our members. We know what the regime does when it wants to arrest its opponents. They plant their lies in the Herald and run with it as a fact and hype nonsense to get its opponents arrested.

We challenge them to produce the evidence of their lies, failure of which we shall take drastic legal action to rectify these lies. We are not organizations of empty threats. We follow every word we say with legal action.

If we want to lead a demonstration within the confines and permissible parameters of our constitution, we won’t hide about it. We will openly pronounce it. The Herald story is some load of illusions and paranoia.

We have instructed our lawyers to demand that the Herald retracts its lies or we seek redress in the courts of law

Signed……. Job Sikhala : National Democratic Working Group (NDWG)

Tshabangu Claims Credit For Sikhala Release From Jail

By A Correspondent

In a recent outburst, Senator Sengezo Tshabangu, the interim Secretary General of the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC), has made a provocative claim regarding Job Sikhala’s recent release from prison.

Tshabangu, known for his enigmatic and controversial statements, has alleged that he played a pivotal role in securing Sikhala’s freedom, but his public praise has quickly turned into sharp criticism.

On Wednesday, Tshabangu expressed his frustration over Sikhala’s behavior following his release.

He described Sikhala as an “unrepentant politician” who has failed to show the maturity and gratitude expected after his release.

Tshabangu revealed his disillusionment with Sikhala’s conduct, accusing him of becoming “too big-headed” and expressing his belief that Sikhala’s arrogance will ultimately lead to his downfall.

In his statement, Tshabangu said, “When I negotiated his release from prison, I thought he’d change his character and act like a mature politician.

But now he’s becoming too big-headed, so I’ll leave him to play his ball but I know he’s bound to fail. @JobSikhala1 has totally betrayed me, but politics will humble him.”

Tshabangu’s remarks reflect the strained relationship between the two prominent political figures and highlight the often tumultuous nature of Zimbabwean politics.

As tensions escalate, the broader political implications of this rift remain to be seen, with Tshabangu’s criticism likely to influence perceptions of both his own role in the release and Sikhala’s future in the political arena.

They have since been dumped at Harare Central Police Station.

Siziba emphasized that the activists are receiving immediate medical attention from deployed teams, including lawyers and medical professionals.

He condemned the regime’s actions as evidence of their cruelty and sadistic behavior. “No one deserves to be tortured for holding a different political view,” Siziba stated.

This incident highlights the ongoing struggle for a political environment where citizens are protected rather than persecuted.

Siziba reaffirmed the commitment to fighting for a state that safeguards its people, underscoring their determination with the rallying cry, “Homeland or death!”

VIDEO: Emmerson Mnangagwa Installs Street Lights in Harare After 24 Years of Sabotage

By Farai D Hove | ZimEye | Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa has finally conducted the installation of street lights in Harare’s Central Business District (CBD) after a prolonged period of actively instructing party supporters to destroy them. This development marks a significant shift in policy and approach from the ZANU PF leader, who had previously opposed such infrastructure improvements due to their association with the opposition party, the Movement for Democratic Change (MDC).

https://x.com/heraldzimbabwe/status/1818838449946083631?s=46

For over two decades, Mnangagwa had maintained a hardline stance against MDC-led initiatives, explicitly directing ZANU PF supporters to undermine service delivery efforts. “An MDC councillor, it doesn’t matter which MDC, all the programs must be destroyed, must die at Harvest House, they must not get to government, because they’re not in ZANU PF,” Mnangagwa is heard saying in footage spanning from 1999 to 2023. “I am issuing you these instructions, to make sure all service delivery is killed at Harvest House,” he added in another recording from the same period.

https://x.com/heraldzimbabwe/status/1818838449946083631?s=46

Fast forward to August 2024, and the state-owned Herald newspaper made a startling announcement: “Part of Kwame Nkrumah Avenue in Harare CBD [has been] lit with newly installed street lights.” This unexpected move has sparked a wave of reactions across the political spectrum and among the general public.

In a contrasting approach to service delivery, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa has been vocal about his commitment to maintaining and improving infrastructure. During a recent visit from the outgoing president of Kenya, Ramaphosa emphasized the importance of stable governance and efficient service delivery. “I did say to President Kenyatta that his timing for visiting South Africa is really poor; he should have come on the 1st Nov; as a good friend I know he would have voted for us, so now we have lost, we didn’t have his vote,” Ramaphosa quipped.

Reflecting on the recent electoral setbacks faced by his party, the African National Congress (ANC), Ramaphosa continued, “This is the footsteps if you like of democracy, and we have seen it play out throughout the country, and indeed as president of the governing party, it is disappointing for the African National Congress; but that is how we should accept the clear message of our people on the African National Congress. We have taken heed, we have listened, and this for us is a big setback but it is also a big lesson and we are a party that learns very quickly.”

Ramaphosa further stressed the importance of stable local governance: “And we are going to go to the drawing board, we are going to reflect on all these setbacks, and all we want to see speaking now as president of the Republic I would like to see stability in our local government sector, that whatever coalitions have been formed and are being formed, will result in stable local government, that we don’t have instability and collapse of local govt, and motions of no confidence to a point where service delivery will not be given to the people of a country.”

In his closing remarks, Ramaphosa congratulated those who emerged victorious in the local elections, particularly noting the rise of female metro-mayors. “It behoves well for the State of the Republic of South Africa and we wish those councillors who’ve been elected the very best and may all continue to work well for the people of various communities,” he concluded.

As Zimbabweans come to terms with the newfound illumination of their capital city, the implications of this shift in Mnangagwa’s policy remain to be seen. The installation of street lights, long overdue, might signal a change in the government’s approach to public service and infrastructure, potentially heralding a new era for Harare and its residents.

Albert Nyoni, 32, was allegedly murdered by Pondai Nyoni, 43. The incident occurred on July 28, 2024, at around 3:00 a.m. in Siamputeni 2 Village, Magedhi. Nyoni reportedly struck Albert multiple times on the head with an axe, resulting in his death at the scene.

Following the post-mortem, the police have informed the family that they need to provide fuel money for the return of the body.

A relative of Pondai Nyoni said, “Pondai is my niece. Today, we received a message from the police saying they want fuel to transport the body back to Binga. I’m unsure if this is the right procedure, especially since the police were the ones who collected the body for the post-mortem.”

Mike Chimombe Speaks On New Corruption Case

By Crime and Courts Reporter- Affirmative Action Group President and Zanu PF member Harare Mike Chimombe is denying fresh charges of fraudulently obtaining a tender to rehabilitate street lights in Harare.

Chimombe and Moses Mpofu, who are already on remand, were back in court this Thursday in a fresh case where they are being accused of acquiring a tender to install street lights in Harare through fraudulent means.

Chimombe, through his lawyers, is challenging to be placed on remand by submitting that he has no case to answer.

The court will make a ruling this Friday on whether Chimombe will be placed on remand or not, while his co-accused Mpofu, has indicated that he is not opposing being placed on remand.

Chimombe and Mpofu allegedly used false documents to secure a Harare City Council tender to rehabilitate street lights in May this year.

The fraud accused businessmen allegedly misrepresented their company’s compliance with public procurement regulations by resubmitting a previously used receipt, despite being disqualified in an earlier bid.
The court heard that through misrepresentation and falsified documents, the duo’s Juluka Enndo Joint Venture company was allegedly awarded the tender. ZBC

Jerry Kanjanga Went Missing Soon After Clashing With Mai Titi
