“VP General (Rtd) Dr CDGN Chiwenga called for the lifting of unilateral sanctions on Zimbabwe and Nicaragua by Western countries during the 45th anniversary of the Sandinista Revolution in Nicaragua.”

Taurai Kandishaya, the Zanu PF Youth League Boss, invaded a youth conference in Zambia over the weekend.

In a statement, Kandishaya said:

Over 700 tenants, including Zanu PF supporters and war veterans, have been evicted from Clipsham Farm, where they resided for the past 24 years. The eviction clears the way for a new smart city project intended for senior government officials, including numerous individuals from Minister Ezra Chadzamira’s office.

The tenants were verbally notified on June 21, 2024, to vacate within seven days. They maintain their resettlement was legitimate and now face displacement with nowhere to go.

Beneficiaries of the new development scheme include permanent secretaries, directors in various ministries, and staff from the office of the Minister of State for Masvingo, Ezra Chadzamira. The project is reportedly under private developers, allegedly the children of a high-ranking Zanu PF politician.

Masvingo Mayor Aleck Tabe asserts that the land belongs to the council and is designated for a provincial hospital, as highlighted in Masvingo’s draft masterplan. This plan suggests the location is ideal for the province’s largest hospital.

A letter dated August 4, 2016, from the then Minister of Lands and Rural Resettlement, Douglas Mombeshora, to the then Minister of Local Government Public Works and National Housing, Saviour Kasukuwere, confirms the handover of Clipsham Farm for urban development.

Ironically, the evicted tenants include some of the most vocal Zanu PF supporters from Chadzamira’s Masvingo West Constituency. Their chairman, Rogers Gava, complained to Zanu PF provincial chairman Robson Mavhenyengwa, who indicated that the land had been reclassified as urban.

The land transfer remains shrouded in secrecy, with no public information available. While sources claim the project is privately owned by a politician’s children, Mayor Tabe insists it belongs to the council and is intended for a hospital.

Permanent Secretary in the Minister of State’s Office, Dr. Addmore Pazvakavambwa, confirmed the situation and mentioned that Chadzamira and he had met with the tenants’ committee. They assured a meeting would be arranged with the Minister of Local Government and Urban Development, Daniel Garwe, and the Minister of Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development, Anxious Masuka, but this has not yet occurred. He denied knowledge of his office workers benefiting from the scheme.

Minister Chadzamira referred questions to his permanent secretary, Pazvakavambwa, while Minister Garwe, new to his post, requested questions be resent via email for him to review before commenting.

Zanu PF director of information, Farai Marapira, suggested that villagers should approach the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) if they suspect corruption. He emphasized that Zanu PF does not condone corruption and urged those with evidence to lodge complaints with relevant authorities.

The Mirror has obtained the names of workers from Chadzamira and Pazvakavambwa’s offices who were allocated plots, including Chadzamira’s personal assistant and various deputy directors, drivers, and office orderlies.

The tenants’ letter to Mavhenyengwa expressed their grievances and requested intervention, highlighting disturbances caused by uncommunicated re-pegging of their plots by individuals claiming to be from the Surveyor General’s Office.

Mavhenyengwa acknowledged receiving numerous appeals from supporters but stated that the matter had escalated beyond the party due to the area’s designation for urban expansion.

Former Mines and Mining Development Permanent Secretary, Onesimo Mazai Moyo, a beneficiary of the land, claimed he applied like any other person and deferred comments to the Minister of Local Government.

The Prosecutor-General of Zimbabwe has submitted a motion at the Harare Magistrates Court, following approval by the Zimbabwean Minister of Home Affairs and Cultural Heritage, requesting Hove’s extradition to South Africa under the Extradition Act.

Principal public prosecutor Ms. Farai Zachariah stated that Hove’s extradition complies with the Extradition Act and does not conflict with Zimbabwe’s international and regional treaty obligations. She emphasized that there is overwhelming evidence linking Hove to the crime, including testimony from an eyewitness, David Chikore, who saw Hove arguing with Musekiwa before the fatal stabbing.

Former Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) legislator Takalani Matibe has defected to the ruling Zanu PF party.

To formalize his transition, Matibe recently graduated from the Chitepo School of Ideology at the Dadaya National Youth Training Centre in the Midlands, where he underwent Marxist indoctrination among other teachings.

Bulawayo, Zimbabwe – In a heart-wrenching turn of events, Zibusiso Sibanda, who recently returned to Zimbabwe after spending 25 years in South Africa, discovered that both his parents had passed away and their family home had been sold. The 45-year-old now works as a car washer and parking marshal on the streets of Bulawayo, struggling to rebuild his life from scratch.

“My name is Zibusiso Sibanda and I am 45. I went to South Africa in 1998 to look for better life opportunities,” Sibanda told The Sunday News. His journey, however, was fraught with challenges and misfortune. In South Africa, he undertook various jobs, including working in restaurants, but was frequently arrested and detained due to lack of proper documentation.

“Lady Luck was not on my side as I was always in and out of prison for things like not having proper documentation, among others. I couldn’t keep the many jobs that I got owing to the arrests and detention,” Sibanda recounted.

The tipping point came in the final years of his stay when he was found in possession of what was suspected to be stolen property. Unable to provide receipts, he was arrested and placed on remand for several years. Eventually, he was sentenced to eight years in prison, a development that devastated his life.

“Being sentenced to prison ruined my life as my parents passed on while I was behind bars,” he said. Sibanda’s mother died in 2019 and his father in 2020, during which time the family home in Magwegwe North was sold as his father fell ill.

“I later benefited from parole and was deported last year. When I got back, I was informed that my mother had passed on in 2019 and my father the following year in 2020. I was told that when my father fell ill in 2020, he sold the house. So when I came back, I had nowhere to stay and I had nothing on me since I was coming from prison,” Sibanda lamented.

Homeless and destitute, Sibanda resorted to living on the streets behind Bulawayo Central Police Station. Despite his dire circumstances, he is determined to forge a new path forward, working as a car washer and parking marshal to make ends meet.

The plight of Zibusiso Sibanda is a stark reminder of the struggles faced by many Zimbabweans who leave the country in search of better opportunities, only to encounter harsh realities and unforeseen tragedies. BRIGADIER General Retired Michael Chaminuka who died on Saturday after a short illness, has been declared national hero.

Delivering the message to the family Thursday evening at the Chaminuka residence in Harare’s Glen Lorne suburb, ZANU PF national chairperson Cde Oppah Muchinguri Kashiri said the conferment of hero status on the late was a result of his consistency and courage in advancing the national interest during the liberation struggle and after independence.

The family expressed gratitude to the government for honouring their late father.

Brigadier General Retired Chaminuka joined the liberation struggle at the age of 17 after crossing into Mozambique in 1977.

He received military training at Tembwe base in 1978 before pursuing a medical training course at Chimoio.

Brigadier General Retired Chaminuka was attested into the Zimbabwe National Army in 1981 and rose through the ranks to become Brigadier General.

He is survived by his wife Lilian Chaminuka and five children.

Police in Masvingo are currently investigating a tragic incident involving the death of an unidentified adult female.

The incident occurred at Clovelly Mountain on July 17, 2024, and has sent shockwaves through the local community.

Delivering the message to the family Thursday evening at the Chaminuka residence in Harare’s Glen Lorne suburb, ZANU PF national chairperson Cde Oppah Muchinguri Kashiri said the conferment of hero status on the late was a result of his consistency and courage in advancing the national interest during the liberation struggle and after independence.

The family expressed gratitude to the government for honouring their late father.

Brigadier General Retired Chaminuka joined the liberation struggle at the age of 17 after crossing into Mozambique in 1977.

He received military training at Tembwe base in 1978 before pursuing a medical training course at Chimoio.

Brigadier General Retired Chaminuka was attested into the Zimbabwe National Army in 1981 and rose through the ranks to become Brigadier General.

He is survived by his wife Lilian Chaminuka and five children.

“Outrageous! Junior police officers are reportedly unhappy after the regime abruptly axed their transport allowances without warning. “
