By Terrence Mawawa|Zanu PF National Political Commissar Saviour Kasukuwere has openly declared war on a faction aligned to troubled Vice President Emmerson Mnangangwa. Kasukuwere who has literally camped in Masvingo, told party members at Victoria Primary School last week elements plotting to oust President Robert Mugabe would be dealt with during his whirlwind operations in Masvingo.
The controversial politician who is believed to be the chief architect of the G40 team -clamouring for Grace Mugabe’s ascendancy to the presidency, mutilated the Team Lacoste faction for failing to respect Mrs Mugabe.
Kasukuwere is expected to preside over the party’s inter district meetings,by-passing the provincial structures in the process. Zanu PF insiders reveal that the man is swooping in to weed out members thought to be aligned to the embattled Mnangagwa. Kasukuwere said: “the successionists have brought instability in the party. We are aware there are some people who are plotting to oust President Mugabe. We know where the succession issue is coming from and we will deal with the matter once and for all. We have to respect the president and his wife because he is still there. Therefore we cannot sit and watch while unruly elements destroy the party,” he said.
He also vowed to deal with rogue elements during his supervision of district meetings. A party member said Kasukuwere had a direct mission to dismantle the Team Lacoste in Masvingo. “How can Kasukuwere supervise district meetings because that is unprocedural. In actual fact he has a mission to destroy the Mnangagwa camp. By mentioning rogue elements he was referring to the Mnangagwa sympathisers,” said a Zanu PF provincial member.
