National Peace Hearings Kick off Across Zimbabwe

By HON Jessie Majome| Public Hearings on the National Peace and Reconciliation Commission Bill

The Parliament of Zimbabwe through the Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Portfolio Committee together with the Human Rights Thematic Committee and the Peace and Security Thematic Committee will hold public hearings on the National Peace and Reconciliation Commission Bill.
In line with Section 141(a) of the Constitution, “Parliament must facilitate public involvement in its legislative and other processes and in the processes of its committees;…” members of the public are invited to the public hearings to give submissions on the above Bill. The public’s contributions will be compiled in Parliamentary Reports which will be presented in each house of Parliament (National Assembly and The Senate) for the Second Reading of the National Peace and Reconciliation Commission Bill.
Members of the public can also hand in written submissions at public hearings or post to:

There will be a country wide tour where public hearings will be held in every province. The first meetings will be held on 11 April 2016 in Kwekwe at Kwekwe Theatre and Gutu at Gutu Council Boardroom, please consult the schedule below for date and venues of public hearings.
Please note that military uniform, party insignia, saying/singing slogans and heckling are not allowed at public hearings.
