Beitbridge- A local man lost one of his testicles after being mauled by his own dog last week.
Last Dube of Beitbridge, has been hospitalised after the dog he has lived with for the past two years suddenly attacked him on his way to the veterinary department so that it could be vaccinated. Dube said the dog attacked him without provocation.
The dog pulled him to the ground at least three times as he attempted to free himself in the vicious attack.
It then ravaged his pelvic area in an unabated attack on its master.
Dube whose manhood was also badly damaged was visibly in pain when he narrated the ordeal.
“I was on my way to the veterinary department when the dog suddenly attacked me. I have been feeding the dog for the past two years and I am still wondering what went wrong. I don’t know what provoked the dog. I was badly hurt and I am still in deep pain,” said a traumatised Dube. Although he survived the relentless attack, Dube said the dog should be shot as soon as possible. Eyewitnesses watched from a distance as the dog attacked a hapless Dube.
“We could not come to Dube’s rescue because the dog was vicious. It ripped off his trousers and tore his pants and he was seriously injured. He lost one of his testicles as a result of the attack The man was only rescued by a taxi driver who drove towards the dog. That is when it released him. He was then taken to hospital since he was wincing with pain,” said an eyewitness.
A veterinary officer here said the dog could have been infected with the deadly rabbies virus.
