Controversial cleric and leader of the Prophetic Healing and Deliverance Ministries (PHD) claims to be a victim of Zanu PF factionalism, insinuating that Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa is out to get him.
There are two factions battling for succeeding President Robert Mugabe.
One of the factions is led by Mnangagwa, while the other one is being led by President Mugabe’s wife Grace.
Sources said that the prophet was being used by one of the leaders of the first lady Grace Mugabe’s G-40 faction, Savior Kasukuwere to gunner support for Mugabe’s wife.
Magaya, early last week launched a housing project in Bulawayo, where he plans to build 5 000 housing units for church members, which he said would go a long way in reducing the country’s housing backlog.
“So today, I want to inform you this, that after the unveiling of Bulawayo, after I spoke about stands, after I built the hotel, they are very big senior people in government, who are upset with me and they want me arrested,” he told his congregants.
The prophet was at the weekend arrested and charged for raping a Midlands State University student and his Mount Pleasant home in Harare.
Magaya, appeared in court and was released on $2000 bail.
He is appearing in court next month for routine remand hearing and for a possible trail date.
It is reported that on, Friday last week before his arrest, Magaya told his followers during church service, that some top politicians and government officials were plotting to silence him through trumped up charges.
Magaya said his detractors were not amused by his ambitious housing projects and property acquisitions, hence, the plot to blackmail him.
Last week Magaya was in the state media where he reported to have embarked on a national housing delivery project.
Kasukuwere is the Local government minister, and is responsible for allocating land in urban centres.
Magaya told congregants that he had about 16 audio recordings of conversations of people, who had approached three of his female congregants offering them cash in exchange for framing the rape charges against him.
Two of the three girls, he claimed, had allegedly testified during a church service, confirming the plot, saying they had been offered $100 000.

Stupid story that is well received by a Godless society that only hears things against God and His servants. Magaya’s war is spiritual not political. Demons use people. This includes you to demonize people working for God. To think Magaya is a political object is carnally minded and devoid of truth. Why demonize Magaya everyday? Why don’t you write about all the good things he does every day? There is no day that passes without him helping someone. He has no conviction of any kind anywhere but everyday he is labelled a rapist, a fraud and all sorts. What has he done wrong? To do good and then be rewarded with evil? He is building 100,000 houses to help the poor with hospitals and schools. The government failed to do that. He bought water facilities for your hospitals so that your relatives may recover well in hospitals. He is paying school fees for over 5000 students. Every person who went to him asking for help was never turned away. He is buying limbs from South Africa for people who have no legs and rehabilitating them paying hundreds of thousands, why don’t we talk about that? No one in Zimbabwe is selfless like him. These Magaya utterances are just hot air and dust. This is not the first time people have accused him of being a bed-hopper. I know in this ZANU PF circus, all can get away with saying that they have been caught up in factional fights. I have always said that in our life time, all these false prophets will be exposed. In fact they should be grateful to ZANU PF for allowing them to vandalize women with impunity. Cash can buy freedom up to a certain limit. Time will tell, I have always said. Fiction does not last.
