President Emmerson Mnangagwa met with his host and counterpart President Xi Jinping at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, China, today.
President Mnangagwa is the 3rd African leader to meet President Xi since the October 2017 congress that re-elected him and changed the constitution to allow him to serve as president for as long as he can.
President Mnangagwa is on his first state visit outside SADC to pay respects to one of the countries that have stood with Zimbabwe at all times.
Accompanied by the First Lady Amai Auxillia Mnangagwa, the President was at the Great Hall of the People where Cde Mnangagwa and his host inspected a guard of honour after the sounding of the national anthems of the two countries.
From the welcoming ceremony, the two leaders proceeded to the meeting room where the two made brief remarks before meeting behind closed doors.
President Mnangagwa said he is humbled that Zimbabwe-China ties are going a step higher from all weather friendship to an all encompassing relationship.
President Xi said there is a dispensation of cooperation between Zimbabwe and China and the Asian country is ready to work with Zimbabwe.
President Mnangagwa recalled the 60s when he visited the Asian country as a liberation war cadre and received part of his military training there.
After the meeting, President Mnangagwa and President Xi witnessed the signing of documents for human resources development, agriculture, food assistance, and borehole drilling.- State Media
