Staff Reporter | The MDC led by Advocate Nelson Chamisa has suspended all primary election campaigning until full vetting of all prospective candidates is completed.

ZimEye.com spoke to MDC National Chairman, Morgen Komichi, who explained the internal procedure; “Those confirmed by the National Council will then start campaigning. The vetting of potential candidates will include if they are persons of good standing, have no criminal record. Also if not an infiltrator, because we need to look at that, when the euphoria is so high your opponent will easily deploy people to your camp.”

The MDC leader said by the 26th of April all vetting would be complete and candidate lists ready. Below is the circular sent to all party provinces;

Provincial Chairs: The Party is currently working on the establishment of the Candidates Panel. We have not yet finished compiling the list of the legitimate candidates. The National Council shall announce all the qualified candidates to go for Primaries. Those who have started campaigning now are showing a high level of indiscipline. So Stop It. I put full responsibility on the Provincial Chairpersons to stop the practice in their respective areas. Those aspiring candidates who do not take heed of this instruction face very serious censure.
