By Paul Nyathi|Senior member of the Welshman Ncube led MDC David Coltart has opted out of contesting the Bulawayo East Constituency elections under the MDC Alliance coalition.

Information made available to ZimEye.com indicates that the former Education Minister wrote to the MDC Alliance coalition principals requesting that he runs for senatorial seat instead of a parliamentary seat.

Coltart was the first MDC Alliance coalition aspiring parliamentarian to be confirmed as a candidate after Thabitha Khumalo who narrowly beat him in the last election opted to cede the seat to him.

Sources in the MDC-T said that Mr Coltart’s exit could see Khumalo bouncing back to contest the Bulawayo East constituency seat.
