By Simba Chikanza| There was drama last week when while President Emmerson remained stuck to his old “Kutonga Kwaro I’m Now Changing The Laws” November 2017 rhythm, MDC Alliance leader Nelson Chamisa banged out 5 new songs in the space of just one week.
They say sadza has to be eaten fresh, not when it is one day old, let alone, one week old, but President Mnangagwa has remained stuck to his old Jah Prayzah penned song, “Kutonga Kwaro, I’m Now Changing The Laws.” It was produced way back in 2017. The very clear direct message in ED’s song totally scares away investors since it is an open declaration of instability and economic risk. But the 76 year old has continued, even making it his party theme.
What does this mean?
Last week saw at Nelson Chamisa’s rallies, 5 new, completely fresh tracks, never been heard before in the universe, being belted. They included some of the below: “Kufamba na Chamisa!,” and another which was thumbed up by a highly skilful Gwenyambira. The latter singer, can be seen in LIVE footage being released today literally making people cry.
The song “Kufamba na Chamisa” is no old cold sadza. It was written specifically for the rally itself, for the people of Bhasera, what arguably adds a breath of fresh air.
Another track was also released by two Harare youths who have before belted, “Garwe Mumvura!” Fanuel T Mapfumo, Nigel Nyagato and Nigel S Jani of the Network For Youth Movement- Rovambira sect revealed their song “Mumvura,” while adding another one called, “Priscilla Buda!” – CONTINUE READING …
After his two Gutu rallies and Chamisa had bolted to Kariba, and then Karoi, he returned to Bulawayo where once again other artists revealed more tracks.
Why does singing a new song matter?
Psychologists say where human spirits are free, creativity is a lifestyle. On another hand, they also say communities that have been oppressed often produce new songs as the human spirit cries for freedom. Examples of this phenomenon are seen in apartheid South Africa and also the former racist United States of America, the two nations whose oppressed peoples have produced some of the world’s the best musicians to date.
