By Paul Nyathi|The opposition MDC led by Nelson Chamisa has announced the death of one of the party’s founding members and elders, Fidelis Mhashu.
The party’s information department issued the statement on Tuesday afternoon.
The statement reads as follows:
The MDC has learned with extreme sadness the loss of one of the founding fathers of party of excellence, Hon Fidelis Mhashu.
A fearless defender and veteran fighter for human rights, Hon Mhashu passed on at Parirenyatwa Hospital on Monday night.
He was 76.
Hon. Mhashu served as Member of Parliament for Chitungwiza North constituency and for some period, served as Minister of National Housing and Social Amenities in the inclusive Government.
He is survived by his wife, Monica, four children and nine grandchildren.
Mourners are gathered at House No. 2317 Unit B, Seke, Chitungwiza.
Burial arrangements will be announced in due course.
