Terrence Mawawa| A British MP has described the appointment of a fact finding commission by President Emmerson Mnangagwa as a window dressing gimmick meant to hoodwink the international community.
United Kingdom Member of Parliament for Vauxhall and the chair of Britain’s All-Party Parliamentary Group on Zimbabwe, Kate Hoey dismissed President Emmerson
Mnangagwa’s 7 member Commission of Inquiry.
The Commission- which will be chaired by former South African President Kgalema Motlanthe has
been appointed to look into the events of August 1 events- which resulted in the deaths of at least
6 people when soldiers used live bullets to quell a protest by opposition supporters.
Reacting to the appointment of the commission, Hoey said:
“No need for an enquiry- the evidence
was clearly caught on camera –
soldiers shooting civilians in the back. Orders to shoot must have been given by the Army
Commander,” tweeted Hoey.
