By Paul Nyathi|The MDC has accused rivals ZANU PF for authoring and circulating a letter purporting that Secretary General Douglas Mwonzora has been dismissed from the party.
Job Sikhala, the party Member of Parliament for Zengeza who is also a member of the National Executive Committee warned party members to ignore the letter.
Sikhala wrote in a statement:
To MDC Supporters throughout the world.
There is a letter being circulated by the security intelligence of ZANU PF and the military regime to the effect that at our Wednesday National Council meeting a purported resolution to suspend the Secretary General of the party was moved and seconded.
Firstly, the purported mover of the motion Senator Lillian Temvious was not even present at the Wednesday meeting. She is one of those people who gave apologies that they will not be able to attend the meeting.
Secondly, the purported letter was written by someone who doesn’t have even informants in the National Council. This should give us happiness in the party that the MDC family is solid and impenetrable. Putting forward the name of the non attendant killed the whole fabricated story.
Thirdly, no congress will come any time soon. We are focused on reclaiming our stolen victory. Our President Adv Nelson Chamisa is on a national blitzkrieg to thank the people and seek direction from them on the way forward. He even had time to warn the party that desperate ZANU PF are concocting friction in the party so that we focus internally. Whoever, is doing this is on wild goose chase.
Be reassured our supporters that the unity in our party is unprecedented. We are in the process of integrating everyone into the party of the people, the party of excellence the MDC. The party has now become a formidable fortress that it is now impenetrable. These attempts to divide us will come to nothing.
