Terrence Mawawa| Ruling party Zanu PF supporters have forcibly taken over an irrigation scheme in Zaka District.

Hundreds of villagers who have been depending on Panganai Irrigation Scheme have expressed concern at the seizure of the project by ruling party supporters.

Below is a statement that has been released by Community Tolerance  Reconciliation and Development(COTRAD) concerning the matter:” A community training on peace building and conflict management was held in Zaka Central Constituency, ward 15 last week.

The training served as a platform to discuss constitutional rights to water, health and education.Young people from different political and religious backgrounds were imparted with community engagement, information dissemination, peace building, conflict prevention and management skills.

The participants have raised concern over the monopolization of Panganai
Irrigation Scheme by Zanu PF officials and the partisan distribution of agricultural inputs. Traditional
leaders are reportedly conducting their duties in a partisan manner, forcing people to attend ZANU PF
celebration meetings.
