Defence University Launched, Is It Necessary?

By Own Correspondent| President Emmerson Mnangagwa has been robbed as the Chancellor of the Zimbabwe National Defence University (ZNDU) at Alfred Nikita Mangena barracks along Mazowe road in Harare.

Proceedings at the launch kicked off with a ground breaking ceremony in the north western corner outside the existing complex.

The President performed the ground-breaking in the presence of Vice President Kembo Mohadi, Minister of Defence and War Veterans Affairs Cde Oppah Muchinguri Kashiri, Minister of State Security Cde Owen Ncube, Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet Dr Misheck Sibanda and defence forces officials.

The entourage then proceeded to the ceremonial venue for the investiture ceremony where ZNDU Council Chairman Dr Misheck Sibanda took part in robbing President Mnangagwa as the Chancellor of the university.

The chancellor went on to appoint the councillors of the university who include Professor Has Patel.

The President went on to install the first Vice Chancellor Air Vice Marshal Dr Mike Tezani Moyo, who was presented with the university charter outlining his duties as the chief academic and administrator of the institution.

The newly appointed Vice Chancellor has been acting in that capacity.-StateMedia
