9 February 2019
By Farai D Hove| Zimbabwe’s longest serving political prisoner since Ian Smith days, the man who was jailed for 7 years in the Chikurubi maximum prison between 2007 and 2014, without a conviction, Captain Albert Matapo, yesterday joined in to commiserate with a female victim of police brutality – a mother who was assaulted while with her child on her back.
Captain Matapo is the man Zimbabweans were expecting to be backing Emmerson Mnangagwa since he was back in 2007 jailed for allegedly plotting to carry out a coup for his benefit. But as Mnangagwa enters his second year after removing former president Robert Mugabe, Captain Matapo has continued in his firmness against Mnangagwa.
