Police Arrest Buses Robbing Gang, One Shot Dead

POLICE have arrested a group of 10 armed robbers who have been terrorizing citizens and targeting bus passengers across the country.

One suspect was shot in a shoot out between the law enforcement authority and the suspected armed robbers and 10 others were nabbed in Chinhoyi and Chegutu.

ZRP Chief Spokesperson, Commissioner Charity Charamba said they are still hunting for five other suspected armed robbers and assured Zimbabweans that all the criminals will be brought to book.

“The gang was using degrading and dehumanizing ways and they would undress victims and bundle them up before stashing them in their gate away vehicles,” said Commissioner Charamba.

She added that they are is still investigating the Brooklyn bus robbery case, which occurred along the Bulawayo – Beitbridge road and another robbery case of more than US$23 000 in Milton Park, Harare, among other cases.

The arrested suspects are believed to have kidnapped and robbed some police officers in Chegutu.

The court has issued a warrant of further detention for the suspects and they will appear in court on Friday.
