Farai Dziva|Residents of the ancient city of Masvingo yesterday said there was nothing to celebrate on this year’ s Valentine’s Day in the wake of the biting economic crisis.

Residents who spoke to ZimEye.com in a cursory survey yesterday said they were hard-pressed by economic challenges such that they had virtually nothing to spend on Valentine’s Day.

Said Tsitsi Mare a hairdresser at Rujeko A Shopping Centre:” I am 20 and I could have been celebrating Valentine’s Day with my partner but I have chosen to spend the day at work.

To be frank I only remembered that today is Valentine’s Day around midday.”

An engineering student at Masvingo Polytechnic also said:”To me it is just any ordinary day. I am grappling with the economic crisis in the country. “
