ZIFA Eastern Region Division One outfit, Masvingo United got a shot in the arm when they received a new set of soccer kit from local company, By-Word Motors.

The former PSL side is enjoying a purple patch and has high chances of returning to top flight football come next season if their present form is anything to go by.

However, the performance, which has attracted even the former owners, Tanda Taruva (Mhunga) family has been clouded by perpetual paucity of resources.

It is the donation from the corporate world that the team believes will help in bringing back the yester-year glory when Una Una, as the team is affectionately known, used to be one of the teams to beat during its dance with the elite in the PSL.

Club chairman Hubert Fidze has challenged other corporates to also assist with anything that makes the team achieve the intended objective of bringing PSL matches to Masvingo.

He said the executive was humbled by By-Word Motors’ philanthropic gesture adding that it would go a long way in boosting morale in the team’s dressing room and instil confidence when playing other teams in the league.

“We are elated with the gesture shown by By- Word Motors. We greatly value his contribution and urge others to follow suit, as we seek to rekindle the lost pride. We have the potential to win the championship and eventually retain PSL in the ancient city, if we get necessary support,” said Fidze.

By-Word Motors director, Ephraim Museva said he felt challenged to contribute to sport, as part of the business community and urged the players to apply extra effort so residents can be able to watch PSL matches, come next season.State media
