By A Correspondent- A proposal by the SADC Lawyers President Max Bogwana to the current SADC Chairperson on Politics and Defence President Emmerson Mnangagwa to propose to other SADC heads of state to re-open the SADC Tribunal in Tanzania next week was today met with an emphatic No.
This was revealed by the Southern Africa Human Rights Defenders Network (SAHRDN), a sub-regional Network that works to protect and promote the rights of Human Rights Defenders within the sub-region of Southern Africa.
Said the SAHRDN:
“#SADCLawyersAssociation president #MaxBoqwana asks #EDMnangagwa to propose to other SADC Heads to re-open the #SADCTribunal in #Tanzania next week. @edmnangagwa says an emphatic “NO” without giving reasons Change in leadership and not in policies.”
The organisation also revealed that the SADC Lawyers Association Vice President, Vimbai Nyemba while giving her closing remarks, expressed unhappiness at the President’s reaction and promised that she would keep engaging him over the issue.
Said the SAHRDN:
