MDC-T has confirmed its participation in the call for the unequivocal removal of sanctions imposed on Zimbabwe by the West, saying the party has realised the embargo is bleeding the economy.
The 39th Ordinary Summit of the Heads of State and Government of SADC resolved in Tanzania in August that all member states should hold various activities on October 25 to call for the lifting of sanctions to allow Zimbabwe to grow its economy which has immensely suffered in the last two decades.
MDC-T president Dr Thokozani Khupe told The Herald yesterday that they have decided to join other citizens and the rest of SADC in denouncing the illegal sanctions because they have crippled the economy.

“As the MDC-T, we would like to join SADC and the rest of the country in calling for the removal of sanctions which were imposed on Zimbabwe in 2002 and 2003 because we have realised that these sanctions are affecting ordinary Zimbabweans,” she said.

“If you look at when these sanctions were imposed, the lives of Zimbabweans have gotten worse, so we are therefore calling for the removal of these sanctions so that Zimbabwe is also able to get credit lines to improve the lives of Zimbabweans.”

The biggest gathering to protest against the sanctions will be held in Harare at the National Sports Stadium.State media
