By A Correspondent- National Assembly Speaker Jacob Mudenda is considering reversing his decision to bar MDC Alliance MPs from debating in Parliament as punishment for refusing to recognise President Emmerson Mnangagwa as the legitimate Head of State.

Mudenda revealed this after Norton MP, Temba Mliswa (Independent) questioned the wisdom of punishing MPs for an offence that was committed on a different day.

Said Mudenda:

“I shall review my decision and I need time to think about it very deeply so that I can come back and see what needs to be done in terms of the implications of our processes here in Parliament and outside Parliament when we are embarking on our committee processes.

Last week Mudenda ruled that MDC Alliance MPs have no right to direct questions to cabinet ministers appointed by Mnangagwa when they refused to recognise the appointing authority.

He made the ruling in concurrence with the leader of government business, Justice minister Ziyambi Ziyambi, who had raised a point of order during a question and answer session.
