THE Southern African region has called for the support of Nigeria in the struggle to lift the sanctions on Zimbabwe.
The subregion, under the umbrella body of the Southern Africa Development Community (SADC), urged Nigeria to add her voice to the call to lift the sanctions.
The US, EU and its allies placed sanctions on Zimbabwe since 2001 under the regime of the late Robert Mugabe.
SADC comprises of Tanzania, Angola, Botswana, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Namibia, Zambia, Zimbabwe and South Africa.
The EU further reviewed its sanction early this year and extended them to 2020.They target both specific individuals and companies.
United States’ financial and travel restrictions currently apply to 85 individuals, including President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
