MDC STUDENT COUNCIL embraces the great work by EFF Student Command in their fight for academic freedoms across South Africa.

We support the move by the EFF Student Command to shutdown Nkangala Witbank Campus under their #SizofundaNgenkhani Campaign. The shutdown follows the institution’s act of rendering students who have not yet registered homeless. The exclusionary behavior by Universities when dealing with ones access to education is totally unacceptable and we applud the great step by the Student Command to peacefully fight for Access to Education .

As Zimbabwean students guided by the principles of Pan-Africanism we are going to carry that campaign across the border and ensure all Zimbabweans can exercise their right to education, which the government continues to ignore. Unreasonable fees hikes not encompassing food, accommodation and transport while workers salaries remain low is totally unacceptable. We are going to take to the streets and ensure that that the government addresses the issue of access to education.

Students welfare should be seriously considered and it is our own mandate as students to make sure that happens. We shall unite and move together as one African students towards academic freedoms and together we shall achieve.
