Below is the message from the opposition MDC and party Treasurer General David Coltart following the death of former Harare Central legislator Mike Auret who passed away in Ireland.

MDC :We offer our deepest condolences to the Auret family on the passing of Michael Auret. Mike served on the Catholic Commission for Justice & Peace from 1978 to 1999. From 2000 to 2002, he served as an MP for the MDC. Our prayers are with Diana, Peter, Margaret, Stephen & Michael.

David Coltart: I am deeply saddened to report that Mike Auret died this morning in Ireland. Mike’s work in promoting human rights in both Rhodesia & Zimbabwe was unparalleled. If ever there was a true Zimbabwean hero it was Mike. Rest In Peace good friend.
