Coronavirus Continues To Ravage South Africa.

Own Correspondent|South Africa has recorded 663 new cases of COVID-19 and 17 new COVID-19 related deaths. This is the highest record of both new cases and deaths yet.

According to the latest press release by The Minister of Health, Dr Zweli Mkhize, there had been 663 new cases of COVID-19. This means there is a total of 8895 cases. A provincial breakdown can be found below,

The Western Cape has now hit the 4000 a mark, with 4497 reported cases. Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal and Eastern Cape are ranked second, third and forth. The Northern Cape remains the most under control province.

Today there has been 17 new COVID-19 related deaths reported. This means the total deaths toll is now 178. These are from the following provinces, Eastern Cape (3),Gauteng (3), KwaZulu-Natal (2), Western Cape (9). A provincial breakdown can be found below,

As of 5 May 2020 has been 8 216 605 citizens screened. As of May 7, 435 patients have been hospitalized and 45 are in high care. 77 are in ICU and 40 are being ventilated. There has been 307 752 tests conducted. 15 599 were done in the past 24 hours. Below is a data testing table,

There will be presidential visits to both the Eastern and Western Cape next week because of these provinces both being huge concerns.
