By Jane Mlambo| Amalgamated Rural Teachers Union of Zimbabwe (ARTUZ) leader Obert Masaraure has been arrested and transferred to Masvingo in connection with 22 June salary protests.

On Wednesday, Masaraure posted on Facebook that he had been summoned to Harare Law and Order though he was not sure of the charge.

Today he went to the police in the company of his lawyers and was immediately arrested and taken to Masvingo where they claim the crime in question was committed.

According to ARTUZ, Masaraure’s arrested is in connection with salary protests held by the firebrand union last week

“President Masaraure is being transferred to Masvingo Central police station over the 22 June salary protests. On another note SG Robson Chere is being questioned at Harare central Law and order,” the union said.
