OPERATION PROTECT MBUYA NEHANDA HERITAGE IN MAZOWE

The Zimbabwe Republic Police and other stakeholders have launched an operation dubbed “Protect Mbuya Nehanda Heritage”, meant to flush out illegal settlers and miners who have been destroying sacred places, cultural, heritage sites and Government property at Mbuya Nehanda, Shavarudzi, Chebanga, Bakorambuya Nehanda, Chemachinda, Henderson and Mazowe Dam.

Since the onset of the operation on 26′ August 2020, a total of 65 suspects have been arrested for various offences which include Criminal trespass, operating without shop licence, implementing a mining project without Environmental Impact Assessment certificate among others.

Police also recovered 20 hammer mills, 5 compressors, 4 generators, 2 water pumps, 2 well pumps, 3 jack hammers, 2 Taurius batteries, 2 Ray 50W solar panels and approximately 10kgs gold ore.

Meanwhile, Zimbabwe Republic Police warns criminals wh, want to take advantage of this operation to cause confusion and commit various criminal activities that the law will take its course without fear or favour.
