Concern Over Increased Spate Of Armed Robberies

By A Correspondent- Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has released details that show armed robbery cases are on the rise in Zimbabwe.

Using their official Twitter handle ZRP posted the following cases in which a gang of armed robbers managed to rob unsuspecting citizens of their hard-earned cash or property.

Tweeted ZRP:

In Chitungwiza, on 13/10/20, seven unknown male adults broke into a house armed with a rifle and iron bars. The men robbed the family of cash US$5 020.00 , two cell-phones and made good their escape. Police are investigating the matter.

In Beitbridge, on 13/10/20, a man who had gone for prayers in the bush was approached by five armed men. The men robbed him of cash ZAR10 000.00, US$200.00, seven cellphones and clothes. Investigations are also underway.

Police in Harare are investigating a case of armed robbery where a man (41) was robbed of his Toyota Hilux Revo vehicle, reg.no. AFE 3194 by three male adults driving a grey Honda Fit on 13/10/20 in Eastlea, Hre. 2/2 The men were armed with pistols and they also took away the man’s cellphone and two laptops. #notocrime

ZRP also warned the public against boarding unregistered vehicles as they said robbers are now using unregistered vehicles to steal from the public:

Members of the public are warned against boarding unregistered motor vehicles. On 13/10/20 a man (29) boarded an unregistered silver Toyota Axio in Harare intending to go to Bindura.The vehicle had three occupants who then robbed the man of his cash, laptop, cellphones and two satchels. The man was dumped at Greencroft shopping centre.

On the same date, in Kuwadzana, a man (32) boarded an unregistered Nissan Caravan and with seven occupants who robbed him of his cash and dumped him in Kuwadzana 4.A female adult (27) boarded an unregistered black Toyota Wish in Zengeza 3, Chitungwiza intending to go to Sunningdale on 12/10/20 at around 2200 hours. The driver stopped the vehicle and three other occupants on board searched the woman and stole her cash, two cellphones and clothes at knife point. She was dumped near Maruta Shopping centre.#notounregisteredvehicles
