By Jane Mlambo| The Zimbabwe Republic Police has frowned at open corruption happening at security check points where citizens who are not part of non-essential services are gaining passage into central business districts of towns and cities.

In a statement on Thursday, police urged the public to take note that the country is still under lockdown which restricts unnecessary movement while warning those who violate restrictions that they face arrest.

“In Harare, Bulawayo, Gweru, Mutare and Masvingo motorists are transporting commuters in open defiance of the lockdown measures. Motorists are warned against conniving with unruly security service members to gain passage at check points as they will be dealt with in terms of the law,” said police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi.
