By James Gwati-Following the failed government plans to evict Chilonga villagers from their ancestral land, the defiant community said they wanted more land and some stake in nearby sugarcane plantations.

The villagers made this request last weekend during a meeting they had with Vice President Constantino Chiwenga.

Most of the sugarcane plantations in Chiredzi are owned and controlled by senior Zanu PF officials or people with close links with the regime.
