Tinashe Sambiri|The MDC Alliance will not be pushed by Zanu PF surrogates to change its name.
This was said by the party’s Organizing Secretary, Amos Chibaya at the weekend.
Rather the party would focus on mobilization and recruitment programmes, Cbibaya said.

Mdc Alliance Namibia inspired by the clarion call for visibility and mobilisation from the International Organiser, Hon Amos Chibaya during SA Pec meeting in Cape Town.
02 Sunday 2021
Mdc Alliance Namibia was really inspired by the clarion call for the leadership to embrace the #RegisterToVoteCampaign.
The pragmatic Organiser made it point blank to the Council that Mdc Alliance is targeting 6 million votes in 2023. It was clear that mobilisation, recruitment, radicalisation of the base was the only way to win Zimbabwe for complete change. He encouraged the leadership to be part of the national discourse through voting since it is their civic right. Elections belong to the people of Zimbabwe regardless of their geographical location.
The provincial leaders exhibited their zeal to work tirelessly to defend the People’s President and the People’s Agenda
must be a dream come true through participatory democracy. It was further clarified to the audience that if one does not vote, he/she loses the constitutional right to complain against Zanupf corruption and daylight looting of national resources. The world is run by those who show up through visibility activities in branches and districts and the provincial leadership must supervise and guide democratic activities in the party.
Moreover, the International Organiser articulated the issue of rebranding. He reiterated that our name remains Mdc which was formed on September 11 1999.
The democratic project that was led by our late late doyen of Democracy Dr Morgan Richard Tsvangirai, may his dear revolutionary soul rest in eternal power. He said,” hatiitiswe tinoita tega” meaning we can’t be forced to change our name by desperate Zanupf and their surrogates.
As social democrats, we must commit and dedicate ourselves to defending the People’s Agenda.
Moreso, responding to the concerns from the PEC about the elected officials who are sleeping on duty, Hon Organiser urged the leadership to submit vacant posts of which I think they did to fill in the gaps. Hon Chibaya made it clear that it was the mandate of the provincial council to do anything for the good and growth of the party. He emphasized that leaders should not be limited to chanting slogans, but real pragmatic approach to the national democratic struggle was the sole way to achieve Constitutional Democracy. The Organiser advocated for various political activities in the branches and districts as a sure of building solidarity among Democratic Forces to converge for complete change.
In a nutshell, as Mdc Alliance Namibia, we are very grateful to our Provincial Executive Council leaders for organising a successful meeting which came up with sound revolutionary resolutions. 11 districts including Namibia, Botswana and Zambia converged in Capetown to map the way forward.
It was such an exhilarating experience. Thanks the International Organiser for giving us the support that we need to see from committed leadership.
The Organiser unearthed that the party is going respond to the arbitrary arrests and illegal convictions of our ardent democratic fighters such as Cde Makomborero Haruzivishe, Hon Joana Mamombe, Cecilia Chimbiri, Tungamirai Madzokere, Last Maengahama, Commander Obey ‘Luther’Sithole, and many others who are mere victims of a Fascist manifestation.
This shall be resisted in equal measure.
