By Farai D Hove | Eyebrows were raised last week when former Zambian President Levy Mwanawasa’s wife retweeted an allegation that the statesman was assassinated on ZANU PF leader Emmerson Mnangagwa’s orders.

Mnangagwa’s spokesman, George Charamba was still to comment on the damning report that says he chaired an intelligence committee responsible for Mwanawasa’s assassination.

The so called Mugabes aides or staff (members) were actually hitmen people must really dig deep. It’ss still a puzzle how the Botswana president survived assassination, the person parsing out the report said.

The original report stated in part: I am sorry to say this but it’s a fact do your own investigation your DAD was posioned by the Zimbabwean regime he had posed a threat to their SADC influence it’s sad that munangagwa was the one who briefed the intelligence team that did the Job.

Mwanawasa served as Zambia’s third president from January 2002 until his death in August 2008.

He was earlier in the week praised by President Hakainde Hichilema for initiating a successful campaign to rid corruption in Zambia. Prior to Mwanawasa’s election, he served as the fourth vice president of Zambia from November 1991 to July 1994.
