By Simba Chikanza | As hotel space runs out in Glasgow, embassy officials were Tuesday night caught-up in last minute-run-arounds for accommodation for 50 close security personnel of Emmerson Mnangagwa’s visiting team after the Zim Consul for Scotland, Heather Mudhari had failed to obtain any.
As at 8pm, London embassy staff were running around searching in every corner of the city places to stay.
This comes at a time when furthermore, 2 yrs after being installed, she is still to get a single office in Scotland. The Glasgow based, Mudhari is Mnangagwa’s neice, and was privately appointed amid controversy ahead of learned, and more qualified candidates in 2019.
Contacted for a comment, Tuesday night Mudhari briefly responded to ZimEye, but after asking for an elaboration of the question, her phone was abruptly cut off soon after reiterating for the journalist’s name.
High Commissioner christian Katsande had not responded to questions at the time of printing.
Mnangagwa is due to land in Scotland at the end of October for the UN COP 26 Glasgow Climate Change Conference.
Meanwhile Mnangagwa is expected to take opportunity to blame the UK (sanctions) for Zimbabwe’s economic problems an has so far invited a UN rapporteur to investigate what he terms the negative impact of sanctions.
