Two Women Found Dead at Stockdale Farm, Chegutu; Police Launch Murder Investigations
Chegutu, Mashonaland Central Province* – The community of Chegutu is in shock after the discovery of the bodies of two women at Stockdale Farm on Sunday, following an extensive search after they were reported missing.
Police identified the victims as Sekai Antonio, 59, and Alice Zhuwao, 54, who had been reported missing two days prior. According to National police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi, their lifeless bodies were found in a bushy area on the farm.
Sekai Antonio’s body was discovered with a deep cut on her head and multiple bruises, while Alice Zhuwao’s body was found approximately 100 meters away, also bearing a severe head wound. The circumstances surrounding their deaths remain unclear as investigations continue. The victims’ remains have been transported to Chegutu Hospital mortuary, where post-mortem examinations will be conducted to determine the exact causes of death.
“The police are conducting thorough investigations to establish what led to these tragic deaths,” Commissioner Nyathi stated. “We urge anyone with information that could assist in our inquiries to come forward and report to the nearest police station.”
In a separate incident, police in Hwange are calling for public assistance to locate a suspect known only as “Usher,” believed to be connected to a murder near Chipale River in the Lusulu area. The appeal follows the discovery of Mqondisi Sibanda’s body on September 6, 2024. The 41-year-old was reportedly involved in an altercation with the suspect, which is thought to have led to his death.
Sibanda’s body was found with a cut on the forehead, suggesting a violent confrontation. Commissioner Nyathi has urged anyone with information related to this case to come forward.
Authorities are now appealing to the public to assist in both investigations to ensure those responsible are brought to justice.
