By A Correspondent| Late former President Robert Mugabe’s spokesperson, Jealousy Mawarire has dared President Emmerson Mnangagwa to call for a referendum to appreciate the views of the people about his continued presidency.
Posting on X, Mawarire said 99.9% of the people will vote against him.
He added that people of Zimbabwe do not want him to stay longer than February 2025.
“If ED’s argument for an illegal presidential term extension to 2030 is that ‘people’ want him to stay, let’s just go for a referendum muone kurakashwa kwaanoitwa. The people, an overwhelming 99.9%, will vote against ED’s continued presidency. Chero kukanzi iyezvino ndiani anoda kuti ED ange ari president beyond February 2025, hapana anoda. Kana pane anenharo ngaaite referendum izvozvi muone,” said Mawarire.
Mnangagwa has been clandestinely pushing to have term limits clause removed from the constitution as part of his grand plan to rule until death.
The campaign for his continued stay in power has now reached fever peak with opposition legislators being the last group to be captured to support this illegal move.
