By Munacho Gwamanda- The country’s most charismatic opposition leader, Nelson Chamisa, has sent a heartfelt condolence message following the passing of Mbuya Idah Hanyani, whom he hailed as a “Citizen Heroine” and “golden girl.”
In a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday, Chamisa shared photos with the late Hanyani, paying tribute to her courage, determination, and unwavering commitment to change in Zimbabwe.
“A SAD LOSS… Just received the tragic news of the passing of a Citizen Heroine, the golden girl, Idah Hanyani AKA Gogo Chihera—admired by many for her courage, determination, and sacrifice fueled by her unbridled passion for change in Zimbabwe. Rest In Power, Gogo!”
Gogo Hanyani was a well-known supporter of Chamisa’s political movement, embodying the grassroots activism that defined the opposition struggle.
Chamisa remains the most popular politician in Zimbabwe despite stepping aside from the CCC early last year after Zanu PF infiltrated and hijacked the party through Sengezo Tshabangu.
