Despite revelations that he does not deserve the ZIFA Presidency having not served at the required division level, Harare businessman Phillip Chiyangwa on Friday pulled through “vigorous” screening tests and now goes to the next round of final voting for the post.
Chiyangwa in a recent radio interview announced that “in December I will be in Zurich.” But his opponent Lesley Gwindi maintains that the man is automatically disqualified. Chiyangwa was recently humiliated by a radio caller when he failed to elaborate the common FIFA and COSAFA acronyms.
However the football body’s electoral committee announced on Friday it has allowed Chiyangwa through. Judge Selo Nare said the ZIFA Electoral Committee has found Chiyangwa fit for the contest, “after carefully perusing the papers filed by the aspiring candidates who number 17.”
Judge Nare did not address the concerns raised by Lesley Gwindi fueling more speculation and mystery around the matter.

Judge Nare’s announcement continued: “The electoral Committee hereby announces the successful candidates as follows:
FOR PRESIDENCY:

MR JAMES TAKAVADA
MR LESLIE GWINDI
MR TREVOR DAVID JUUL
DR PHILIP CHIYANGWA
VICE PRESIDENCY
MR LINCOLN MUTASA
MR OMEGA SIBANDA
NB* Mr Elkana Dube succeeded but formally withdrew from the Election.

BOARD MEMBERS:
MR WILFRED MUKUNA
MR JOSEPH MUSARIRI
MR LEWIS URIRI
MR PIRAISHE MABHENA
MR MUSSA MANDAZA
MR BEADLE GWASIRA
MR JACKSON MUNYAKA
MR PHILEMON MACHANA
MR EDZAI KASINAUYO
MR FELTON KAMAMBO
The Committee meticulously went through the papers and is comfortably satisfied that the named candidates qualify to run for the positions they have selected.
All the positions are therefore contested and hence there shall be elections for all the vacant positions.

  1. Imbavha hake but at least he has the requirements Chiyangwa does not have and other candidates must make sure FIFA and CAF are informed kuti paita corruption in soccer administration in Zimbabwe. Handiti van Blatter vakatoenda, so what is so special nana Omega varikutengwa ne mari saka vachatengwa kanagani kuita zvavatangira pama elections?

  2. These judges are messing their CVs, will have internationally reknowned judges like oru Sandura and Mtambanengwe? The judge is not addressing ossies and how does he clear such a person without interrogating issues raised and seeing what the ZIFA constitution says?

  3. RUVHENEKO You are really a good presenter. I like it, you have been hammering this thug with constructive and mature questions without looking at his political party or wealthy.
Chiyangwa is saying he is the most successful business man since independent kkkkkkk Strive Masiiwa is the most recognised Zimbabwean business person in the World.

  4. Everything must be done to stop the man from holding the post. Now Gwindi must send appeals to CAF and FIFA because this is a pure shame.I don’t know how the brains of those who nominated him work.We struggled to remove Dube, now another problem. There is no money he will bring because he is looking for money. The supporters must stop going to the stadiums if Chiyangwa becomes chairman. The nominators are pure idiots who are like flies which go where there is rotten meat.Where do you want to take football? He must be disqualified fullstop.Gwindi and other contestants have the right to be shown proof that Chiyangwa has been running a soccer team. This is the same when someone says he wants to enter the Presidential race in a country. He must prove that he is a citizen of the country, and the other contestants have the right to challenge the citizezship status of opponents.Give us a break, really a break. We thought this was a time to reconstruct our soccer.ZIFA councillors , please be professional enough and afford the millions of supporters smiles on their faces. We know its tough economically and the bribes can cushion you here and there. But its sad to reduce every aspect of our game to bribes and scandals. This is a shame
