MDC Alliance President Nelson Chamisa will force the President Emmerson Mnangagwa to the negotiation table through demonstrations in a bid to pile political pressure on the ruling party.

Speaking to journalists on the sidelines of the late Morgan Richard Tsvangirai memorial service Thursday, Chamisa said that dates will be announced in due course.

“The dates will come, we need dialogue, we have to invite Mnangagwa on the negotiation table through political pressure,” said Chamisa.

Chamisa said that they were planning a series of demonstrations. “We are coming from another stay away and very soon we are going to organise more, the one organised by the ZCTU was a success and we are going to organise the mother of all demonstrations,” he added.

Last week Mnangagwa invited all 2018 elections presidential candidates to state house where Chamisa snubbed the meeting and on the next day Mnangagwa also absconded a breakfast meeting organised by Chamisa, however, through Zimbabwe Council of Churches.

Mnangagwa dispatched Defence minister Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri to represent him. Many critics have however warned that Chamisa’s move will cause more harm than good to innocent citizens who are likely to be restrained by security forces to restore peace and order.

ZANU PF youth league national secretary Pupurai Togarepi said Chamisa ‘must grow up’ and understand the difference between ‘dialogue and negotiation.’

“ZANU PF won elections and its time it sinks in Chamisa’s mind.

“Dialogue and negotiations are worlds apart. As people we can talk and lobby for dialogue but not negotiations to take away the mandate given to ZANU PF by the electorate. That is undemocratic. ZANU PF will not yield to child’s play and worse still unlawful activities such as the recent demonstrations,” said Togarepi.
