UZ Students queue for ZUPCO

By Rumbidzai Madhibha- University of Zimbabwe student have expressed concern over Zupco timetables that have left them stranded in town without any other means to get to college on time for their exams.

One student who is studying Psychology at UZ told Zimeye this morning that she was already running late for the exam since her only source of transport was the affordable ZUPCO.

She revealed that only one Zebrakiss bus was servicing the route since morning.

She said:

“Zvakuitwa negovernment zvakadhakwa izvi meaning what the government is doing is not good. Most of us have exams at 9 but we are still stuck in town meaning most of the students who are stuck in town have exams this morning. There is only one ZUPCO bus also written Zebrakiss which is ferrying students from town to campus and it is not enough for all of us.”

ZUPCO timetables have become a challenge for the majority of the commuting public with workers pleading with government to avail the timetable and ensure that there are ZUPCO buses throughout the day in order to cushion those that finish work late at night.

The commuting public have complained that they are failing to make it to their designated destinations on time.

Another student who was only identified as Meme added that it is not only about taking them to college but also about bringing them back from college.

“If I finish my exams late or after 5pm, it means that i will struggle to get a ZUPCO bus and i will arrive home very late,” said Meme.
