Jane Mlambo| Controversy surrounds the death of a Chipinge man, Sam Mambanda who was shot dead on the new year’s eve with locals who claim to know the deceased disputing claims that he was a lecturer in South Africa.
A search on Google did not reveal anything on Mambanda except the stories published following his death.
Sources who spoke to ZimEye said Mambanda was not an academically gifted person even from his primary and secondary education.
They did not dispute the fact that he was working in South Africa, they did not agree to the narrative that was an educationist but a dealer who could have been shot by the people he crooked.
“There are reports that his last robbery case was hijacking a truck full of cellphones, he was not a lecturer at all that can never be true,” said a source who spoke to ZimEye.
The source added that Mambanda once proposed love to a certain village girl but was rejected because of being uneducated.
Another source said Mambanda was shot dead after he accidentally the people he duped in South Africa.
“Some are saying ndaa yaakabairwa ngeyeukujuta mare vakamufuravo Joni vochoozoshongana uno (Some are saying he was shot by the people he conned in South Africa, they then met here by accident),” the source said.
Surprisingly, all the stories on his death did not mention the university he was working for further putting doubts on the authenticity of such claims.
