By Thomas Madhuku| The family of the late national hero General Vitalis Zvinavashe has dismissed media reports suggesting that Dubai based businesswoman and presidential hopeful Ms Edith Chibhamu is the daughter of the revered military strategist.

According to social media reports, Chibhamu who is also a human rights activist was reported as the late Zvinavashe’s daughter but family spokesperson Dr A P Zvinavashe dismissed the claims as misleading and defamatory.

“A post circulating on social media under the moniker COZWVA has announced the presidential candidature of one Ms Edith Chibhamu. What is misleading, offensive and defamatory however is the allegation contained therein that the said Ms Edith Chibhamu is the daughter of the Late General Zvinavashe.

“This allegation is false and misleading,” said Zvinavashe in a press statement.

He added that the late Zvinavashe is survived by 11 children to which Chibhamu is not one of them.

“The Late General Zvinavashe is survived by his wife and 11 children. Ms Edith Chibhamu is not one those children,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Zvinavashe family has since written to the Children of Zimbabwe War Veterans Association (COZWVA) which made the claims warning them against repeating such misleading reports.

Chibhamu has never shied away from controversy and has had a rough ride in her love life after dating footballer Tendai Ndoro before moving on to Ghanaian former big brother housemate and Zimbabwean socialite Pokelo Nare’s ex husband Elikem Kumordzie.
