By A Correspondent- A man who attempted to rap_e a 13-year-old juvenile in the bush has been jailed three years.

Witness Chimedza, 30, of Musanhi Village, Chijaka in Chinhoyi appeared before Chinhoyi Regional Magistrate Ignatius Mugova charged with attempted rap_e.

Mugova sentenced him to 36 months’ imprisonment where 12 months were suspended for two years.

Chimedza will serve an effective 24 months in prison.

Prosecuting, Kesia Teveraishe told the court that on January 28, the juvenile was returning home after sending off her grandmother.

On her way she met Chimedza who asked her to accompany him into the bush but she resisted his move.

However, Chimedza grabbed the juvenile by her hand and dragged her into the bush.

He started to f0ndle her and demanded se_x.

However, the juvenile stood her ground and turned down his request.

She screamed for help and a Good Samaritan, who was nearby, came to her rescue.

She narrated her ordeal to her grandmother and the matter was reported to the police leading to Chimedza’s arrest.
